  • little more help with a CATiledLayer

    - by Brodie4598
    Okay so I am trying to adapt an online tutorial for CATiledLayer to use in my app. The example uses a PDF but I need to display a JPG. I'm getting close, but I just cant figure this out. Should I be using a UIImage or something else? #import <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h> #import "practiceViewController.h" @implementation practiceViewController - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; NSBundle *bundle = [[NSBundle mainBundle]autorelease]; NSString *path = [bundle pathForResource:@"H-5" ofType:@"jpg"]; NSData *data = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:path]; image = [UIImage imageWithData:data]; CGRect pageRect = CGRectMake(0, 0, 1600, 2400); CATiledLayer *tiledLayer = [CATiledLayer layer]; tiledLayer.delegate = self; tiledLayer.tileSize = CGSizeMake(1024.0, 1024.0); tiledLayer.levelsOfDetail = 1000; tiledLayer.levelsOfDetailBias = 1000; tiledLayer.frame = pageRect; myContentView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:pageRect]; [myContentView.layer addSublayer:tiledLayer]; CGRect viewFrame = self.view.frame; viewFrame.origin = CGPointZero; UIScrollView *scrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:viewFrame]; scrollView.delegate = self; scrollView.contentSize = pageRect.size; scrollView.maximumZoomScale = 1000; [scrollView addSubview:myContentView]; [self.view addSubview:scrollView]; } - (UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { return myContentView; } - (void)drawLayer:(CALayer *)layer inContext:(CGContextRef)ctx { NEED HE:LP WITH THIS } @end

  • Update iPhone UIProgressView during NSURLConnection download.

    - by Scott Pendleton
    I am using this code: NSURLConnection *oConnection=[[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:oRequest delegate:self]; to download a file, and I want to update a progress bar on a subview that I load. For that, I use this code: - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { [oReceivedData appendData:data]; float n = oReceivedData.length; float d = self.iTotalSize; NSNumber *oNum = [NSNumber numberWithFloat:n/d]; self.oDPVC.oProgress.progress = [oNum floatValue]; } The subview is oDPVC, and the progress bar on it is oProgress. Setting the progress property does not update the control. From what I have read on the Web, lots of people want to do this and yet there is not a complete, reliable sample. Also, there is much contradictory advice. Some people think that you don't need a separate thread. Some say you need a background thread for the progress update. Some say no, do other things in the background and update the progress on the main thread. I've tried all the advice, and none of it works for me. One more thing, maybe this is a clue. I use this code to load the subview during applicationDidFinishLaunching: self.oDPVC = [[DownloadProgressViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"DownloadProgressViewController" bundle:nil]; [window addSubview:self.oDPVC.view]; In the XIB file (which I have examined in both Interface Builder and in a text editor) the progress bar is 280 pixels wide. But when the view opens, it has somehow been adjusted to maybe half that width. Also, the background image of the view is default.png. Instead of appearing right on top of the default image, it is shoved up about 10 pixels, leaving a white bar across the bottom of the screen. Maybe that's a separate issue, maybe not.

  • UIActivityIndicatorView is not display at the right time

    - by Alexandre
    I'm making a form that allows the user to enter datas in my IOS application. This form allows the user to enter a lot of repetive datas. So, sometimes, the process takes time and I would like to display a UIActivityIndicatorView during this process. Unfortunalty the spinner appears only one second or less at the end of the process, not at the beginning as expected. There is some code : - (void) manageSpinner{ spinner = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc] initWithActivityIndicatorStyle:UIActivityIndicatorViewStyleWhiteLarge]; [spinner setCenter:CGPointMake(self.view.bounds.size.width/2.0, self.view.bounds.size.height/2.0)]; // I do this becau I'm in landscape mode UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc]initWithFrame:self.tableView.bounds]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"dark_gradiant.jpg"]; [imageView setImage:image]; [imageView addSubview:spinner]; [self.tableView addSubview:imageView]; [spinner startAnimating]; } //On click save by the user - (IBAction)save:(id)sender{ //Collect information from the form myObject.name = nameTF.text; [...] if(informations OK[...]){ //Manage spinner [self manageSpinner]; //Add : this is the long process for (int i=0; i<nbRepeatChooseByUser; i++) { [myObject register]; } //Call the delegate that will dismiss the form [self.delegate theSaveButtonOnTheAddMyObjectTVCWasTapped:self]; } } The spinner is called before the adding method but it seems to be set up after the process. Thank you, Alexandre

  • TTStyledTextLabel offset between link and regular text when changing from default font

    - by Guy Ephraim
    I'm using Three20 TTStyledTextLabel and when I change the default font (Helvetica) to something else it creates some kind of height difference between links and regular text The following code demonstrate my problem: #import <Three20/Three20.h> @interface TestController : UIViewController { } @end @implementation TestController -(id)init{ self = [super init]; TTStyledTextLabel* label = [[[TTStyledTextLabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 230)] autorelease]; label.text = [TTStyledText textFromXHTML:@"<a href=\"aa://link1\">link</a> text" lineBreaks:YES URLs:YES]; [label setFont:[UIFont systemFontOfSize:16]]; [[self view] addSubview:label]; TTStyledTextLabel* label2 = [[[TTStyledTextLabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 230, 320, 230)] autorelease]; label2.text = [TTStyledText textFromXHTML:@"<a href=\"aa://link1\">link2</a> text2" lineBreaks:YES URLs:YES]; [label2 setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"HelveticaNeue" size:16]]; [[self view] addSubview:label2]; return self; } @end In the screen shot you can see that the first link is aligned and the second one isn't How do I fix it? I think there is a bug in the TTStyledTextLabel code...

  • Blind down animation on CALayer using a mask

    - by dgjones346
    Hi there, I want to create a "blind down" effect on an image so the image "blinds down" and appears. Sort of like this JavaScript transition: http://wiki.github.com/madrobby/scriptaculous/effect-blinddown The mask is setup correctly because if I manually change it's position it hides and reveals the image behind it, but it doesn't animate! It just ends up in the animates final position and you never see it actual blind. Please help! Maybe this isn't the best way to achieve a blind down effect? // create a new layer CALayer *numberLayer = [[CALayer alloc] init]; // render the number "7" on the layer UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"number-7.png"]; numberLayer.contents = (id) [image CGImage]; numberLayer.bounds = CGRectMake(0, 0, image.size.width, image.size.height); // width and height are 50 numberLayer.position = position; // create a new mask that is 50x50 the size of the image CAShapeLayer *maskLayer = [[CAShapeLayer alloc] init]; CGMutablePathRef path = CGPathCreateMutable(); CGPathAddRect(path, nil, CGRectMake(0, 0, 50, 50)); [maskLayer setPath:path]; [maskLayer setFillColor:[[UIColor whiteColor] CGColor]]; [theLayer setMask:maskLayer]; [maskLayer setPosition:CGPointMake(0, 0)]; // place the mask over the image [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:3.0]; [maskLayer setPosition:CGPointMake(0, 50)]; // slide mask off the image // this should shift the blind away in an animation // but it doesn't animate [UIView commitAnimations]; [maskLayer release]; [boardLayer addSublayer:numberLayer]; [numberLayer release];

  • UIActionSheet not responding to touches

    - by mongeta
    Hello, I can't touch any button in my UIActionSheet. If I copy/paste this code in a new project, it works as expected. I'm forcing the First Responder = doesn't work I'm using [menu showFromTabBar:self.tabBarController.tabBar]; = doesn't work I'm using [menu showInView:self.view.window]; = doesn't work UIActivityIndicatorView *progressView = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(150, 105, 25, 25)]; progressView.activityIndicatorViewStyle = UIActivityIndicatorViewStyleWhiteLarge; UIActionSheet *menu = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:@"first_time_loading" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"device_stop_info" destructiveButtonTitle:nil otherButtonTitles:nil]; [menu addSubview:progressView]; [menu setTag:9]; [menu becomeFirstResponder]; [menu showInView:self.view]; // [menu becomeFirstResponder]; [menu setBounds:CGRectMake(0,0,320, 175)]; [progressView startAnimating]; [progressView hidesWhenStopped]; [menu becomeFirstResponder]; Don't know where to look for more ideas ... I'm opening from a UITableViewController in: - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { // doesn't work -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath // doesn't work thanks, r.

  • How to create a UIScrollView Programmatically?

    - by Wayfarer
    Alright, so the key here is I'm not using IB at all, because the View I'm working with is created programmatically. The UIView covers the lower half the screen, and has a bunch of buttons on it. However, I want to add more buttons to the UIView, without making it any larger. To do so, I want to make a UIScrollView inside the view, which will allow me to add more buttons off screen so the user can scroll to them. I think that's how it works. self.manaView = [[[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:frame] autorelease]; self.manaView.backgroundColor = [UIColor purpleColor]; UIScrollView *scroll = [UIScrollView alloc]; scroll.contentSize = CGSizeMake(320, 400); scroll.showsHorizontalScrollIndicator = YES; [self.manaView addSubview:scroll]; The first part of the code iniates my UIView, which works great, but I can't figure out how to make the UIScrollView programmatically and add it to the view, and then add the buttons to it. UIButton *ret2 = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; ret2.tag = 102; ret2.frame = CGRectMake(255, 5, 60, 50); [ret2 setTitle:@"Return" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [ret2 addTarget:self action:@selector(flipAction:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [scroll addSubview:ret2]; When I did that, the button simply disappeared off my screen. So How do I do this correctly? Thank you for your help!

  • UIActionSheet positioning problem

    - by Dave
    I need to display a pop with a UISwitch and a Done button when user taps on a button and save the state of the switch when the done button in the pop up is tapped. So I use UIActionSheet to do this - sheet = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:@"Switch Setting" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:nil destructiveButtonTitle:nil otherButtonTitles:@"Done", nil]; theSwitch = [[UISwitch alloc] init]; [sheet addSubview:theSwitch]; [sheet showInView:self.view]; - (void)actionSheet:(UIActionSheet *)actionSheet clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if (buttonIndex == actionSheet.firstOtherButtonIndex) { theSwitch .on? NSLog(@"Switch is on") : NSLog(@"Switch if off"); } } All this works great. I have problem with positioning. Unfortunately, I don't have a screen shot at the moment to post here. But the switch appears at the very top on the same line with the Action Sheet title and then below that is the Done button. Please someone help me how to position the switch below the Title and increase the Action Sheet size so it looks neat. I need this asap. Thanks.

  • Using UIScreen to drive a VGA display - doesn't seem to show the UIWindow?

    - by Peter Hajas
    HI there, I'm trying to use UIScreen to drive a separate screen with the VGA dongle on my iPad. Here's what I've got in my root view controller's viewDidLoad: //Code to detect if an external display is connected to the iPad. NSLog(@"Number of screens: %d", [[UIScreen screens]count]); //Now, if there's an external screen, we need to find its modes, itereate through them and find the highest one. Once we have that mode, break out, and set the UIWindow. if([[UIScreen screens]count] > 1) //if there are more than 1 screens connected to the device { CGSize max; UIScreenMode *maxScreenMode; for(int i = 0; i < [[[[UIScreen screens] objectAtIndex:1] availableModes]count]; i++) { UIScreenMode *current = [[[[UIScreen screens]objectAtIndex:1]availableModes]objectAtIndex:i]; if(current.size.width > max.width); { max = current.size; maxScreenMode = current; } } //Now we have the highest mode. Turn the external display to use that mode. UIScreen *external = [[UIScreen screens] objectAtIndex:1]; external.currentMode = maxScreenMode; //Boom! Now the external display is set to the proper mode. We need to now set the screen of a new UIWindow to the external screen external_disp = [externalDisplay alloc]; external_disp.drawImage = drawViewController.drawImage; UIWindow *newwindow = [UIWindow alloc]; [newwindow addSubview:external_disp.view]; newwindow.screen = external; }

  • UINavigationController with UIView and UITableView

    - by Tobster
    I'm creating a navigation-based app which displays a graph, rendered with openGL, and a tableview listing disclosure buttons of all of the elements that are displayed on the graph, and a settings disclosure button. The navigation controller is also a tableview delegate and datasource, and the tableview is added to the view programatically and has its' delegate and datasource set to 'self'. The OpenGL based graph view is added via IB. The problem I'm having is that I'm trying to push a view controller (either settings or graph element properties) within the didSelectRowAtIndexPath method. The method registers and the new view is pushed on, but the tableview stays and obscures part of the view that was pushed on, as if it has a different navigation controller. I can't seem to set the tableview's navigation controller to be the same as the rest of the UINavigationControllers' view. Does anyone know how I could fix this? My navigation controllers' initWithCoder method, where the tableview is added, appears as follows: elementList = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:tableFrame style:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; elementList.dataSource = self; elementList.delegate = self; [self.view addSubview:elementList]; Further in the source file, the DidSelectRowAtIndexPath method where the navigation controller is pushed appears as follows: Settings* Controller = [[Settings alloc] init]; [self pushViewController:Controller animated:YES]; [Controller release];

  • Apple Push Notification-Unable to callback didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken

    - by Shailesh Kanzariya
    I have been simply trying to get deviceToken from my iPhone application using Apple Push Notification Service. I don't have any implementation on server side for the time being. I have created APP Id, got SSL certificate, Provision Profile with APN and calling - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { //view init and add sub view to window [[UIApplication sharedApplication] registerForRemoteNotificationTypes:UIRemoteNotificationTypeAlert | UIRemoteNotificationTypeBadge | UIRemoteNotificationTypeSound]; } method. When I execute the application it pop ups action box to allow Push Notification (means my request for APN registration is working) but my callback is not executed. Neither didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken nor didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError is called? can anybody help me to resolve the issue? Following are my callbacs for reference. - (void)application:(UIApplication *)app didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError:(NSError *)err { UIAlertView *myAlert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"APNClient" message:@"Entered into Error Method" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [myAlert show]; [myAlert release]; NSLog(@"Error in registration. Error: %@", err); } - (void)application:(UIApplication *)app didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken:(NSData *)devToken { UIAlertView *myAlert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"APNClient" message:@"Got the deviceToken..!" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [myAlert show]; [myAlert release]; }

  • UITextField in UIAlertView doesn't respond to cut/copy/paste on second showing

    - by Jesse Grosjean
    I"m adding a UITextView to a UIAlertView with the following code: UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Enter Name Here" message:@"this gets covered!" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Dismiss" otherButtonTitles:@"OK!", nil]; UITextField *myTextField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(12, 45, 260, 25)]; CGAffineTransform myTransform = CGAffineTransformMakeTranslation(0, 60); [alert setTransform:myTransform]; [myTextField setBackgroundColor:[UIColor whiteColor]]; [alert addSubview:myTextField]; [alert show]; [alert release]; [myTextField release]; If I place that code in a standard action method: - (IBAction)testAlertView:(id)sender { ...the above code... } Then the first time I show the alert view the cut/copy/paste popup menu will show in the text fields that's been added to the alert view. (For instance if I tap and hold, then "Paste" will popup after I release. The problem is after working correctly the first time, none of the cut/copy/paste buttons will show up again when I show the alert view unless I restart the app. Does anyone know why, or how to fix this problem? Bonus information I just found out that I can get things to always work if I create an show the alert within a UIActionSheet delagate callback. For instance this always works (cut/copy/paste always shows up when in the UITextField when appropriate) - (void)actionSheet:(UIActionSheet *)actionSheet clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { ...the above code... } Any idea what might be happening in this second case that make things work? I don't want to use a UIActionSheet in my app, so I'd like to find a way to make it work from a plain old action method. Thanks, Jesse

The problem is after working correctly the first time, none of the cut/copy/paste buttons will show up again next time I show the UIAlertView (new instance) unless I restart the app. Does anyone know why, or how to fix this problem? Bonus information I just found out that I can get things to always work if I create an show the alert within a UIActionSheet delagate callback. • issues make a persistent object in Objective C

    - by oden
    Attempting to make a NSObject called 'Person' that will hold the login details for my application (nothing to fancy). The app is made of a navigation controller with multiple table views but I am having issues sharing the Person object around. Attempted to create a static object like this: + (Person *)sharedInstance { static Person *sharedInstance; @synchronized(self) { if(!sharedInstance) sharedInstance = [[Person alloc] init]; return sharedInstance; } return nil; } And here is the header // Person.h #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface Person : NSObject { NSString *fullName; NSString *firstName; NSString *lastName; NSString *mobileNumber; NSString *userPassword; } @property(nonatomic, retain) NSString *fullName; @property(nonatomic, retain) NSString *firstName; @property(nonatomic, retain) NSString *lastName; @property(nonatomic, retain) NSString *mobileNumber; @property(nonatomic, retain) NSString *userPassword; + (Person *)sharedInstance; -(BOOL) setName:(NSString*) fname; -(BOOL) setMob:(NSString*) mnum; -(BOOL) setPass:(NSString*) pwd; @end This object setters and getters are needed in different parts of the application. I have been attempting to access them like this Person * ThePerson = [[Person alloc] init]; ThePerson = nil; NSString * PersonsName; PersonsName = [[Person sharedInstance] firstName]; Everything works well at the login screen but it dies at the next use. usually EXC_BAD_ACCESS (eek!). Clearly I am doing something very wrong here. Is there an easier way to share objects between different a number view controllers (both coded and xib)?

  • UITableView not reloading data on [self.tableView reloadData]

    - by donnib
    I have following code : - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSUInteger row = [indexPath row]; static NSString *RowListCellIdentifier = @"RowListCellIdentifier"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:RowListCellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:RowListCellIdentifier]autorelease]; } NSMutableString *rowString = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; [rowString appendString:[[[rows objectAtIndex:row] firstNumber]stringValue]]; [rowString appendString:@" : "]; [rowString appendString:[[[rows objectAtIndex:row] secondNumber]stringValue]]; [rowString appendString:@" : "]; [[cell textLabel] setText:rowString]; [rowString release]; return cell; } - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [self.tableView reloadData]; [super viewWillAppear:animated]; } My problem is that the textLabel does not get reloaded with new data. If i log the rowString i see the correct value so data is good but in the UI it's the old data. I can see the cellForRowAtIndexPath beeing called so i know the reloadDatacall goes thru. What am i doing wrong ?

  • UIImagePickerController Save to Disk then Load to UIImageView

    - by Harley Gagrow
    Hi, I have a UIImagePickerController that saves the image to disk as a png. When I try to load the PNG and set a UIImageView's imageView.image to the file, it is not displaying. Here is my code: (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info { UIImage *image = [info objectForKey:UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage]; NSData *imageData = UIImagePNGRepresentation(image); // Create a file name for the image NSDateFormatter *dateFormatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init]; [dateFormatter setTimeStyle:NSDateFormatterShortStyle]; [dateFormatter setDateStyle:NSDateFormatterShortStyle]; NSString *imageName = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"photo-%@.png", [dateFormatter stringFromDate:[NSDate date]]]; [dateFormatter release]; // Find the path to the documents directory NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; // Now we get the full path to the file NSString *fullPathToFile = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:imageName]; // Write out the data. [imageData writeToFile:fullPathToFile atomically:NO]; // Set the managedObject's imageLocation attribute and save the managed object context [self.managedObject setValue:fullPathToFile forKey:@"imageLocation"]; NSError *error = nil; [[self.managedObject managedObjectContext] save:&error]; [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } Then here is how I try to load it: self.imageView.backgroundColor = [UIColor lightGrayColor]; self.imageView.frame = CGRectMake(10, 10, 72, 72); if ([self.managedObject valueForKey:@"imageLocation"] != nil) { NSLog(@"Trying to load the imageView with: %@", [self.managedObject valueForKey:@"imageLocation"]); UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:[self.managedObject valueForKey:@"imageLocation"]]; self.imageView.image = image; } else { self.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"no_picture_taken.png"]; } I get the message that it's trying to load the imageView in the debugger, but the image is never displayed in the imageView. Can anyone tell me what I've got wrong here? Thanks a bunch.

  • CALayer won't display

    - by Paul from Boston
    I'm trying to learn how to use CALayers for a project and am having trouble getting sublayers to display. I created a vanilla View-based iPhone app in XCode for these tests. The only real code is in the ViewController which sets up the layers and their delegates. There is a delegate, DelegateMainView, for the viewController's view layer and a second different one, DelegateStripeLayer, for an additional layer. The ViewController code is all in awakeFromNib, - (void)awakeFromNib { DelegateMainView *oknDelegate = [[DelegateMainView alloc] init]; self.view.layer.delegate = oknDelegate; CALayer *newLayer = [CALayer layer]; DelegateStripeLayer *sldDelegate = [[DelegateStripeLayer alloc] init]; newLayer.delegate = sldDelegate; [self.view.layer addSublayer:newLayer]; [newLayer setNeedsDisplay]; [self.view.layer setNeedsDisplay]; } The two different delegates are simply wrappers for the CALayer delegate method, drawLayer:inContext:, i.e., - (void)drawLayer:(CALayer *)layer inContext:(CGContextRef)context { CGRect bounds = CGContextGetClipBoundingBox(context); ... do some stuff here ... CGContextStrokePath(context); } each a bit different. The layer, view.layer, is drawn properly but newLayer is never drawn. If I put breakpoints in the two delegates, the program stops in DelegateMainView but never reaches DelegateStripeLayer. What am I missing here? Thanks.

  • Custom UITableViewCell won't redraw on setNeedsDisplay

    - by Andrew Portner
    I created a custom UITableViewCell class with a UIButton, a UIImage, and two UILabels. The button and the image are overlayed on top of each other, and only one is displayed at a time. The expected behavior is you touch on the button, the button disappears, and it displays the image. The UITableViewCells are set to be reused. Here's my code: Constructor: - (id)initWithStyle:(UITableViewCellStyle)style reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)reuseIdentifier { if (self = [super initWithStyle:style reuseIdentifier:reuseIdentifier]) { unheartButton = [[UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom] retain]; unheartButton.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; unheartButton.frame = CGRectMake(10, 13, 20, 18); [unheartButton addTarget:self action:@selector(onButtonClick:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [unheartButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"redheart.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] init]; imageView.frame = CGRectMake(12, 13, 16, 16); NSMutableArray *array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; for (int ndx = 1; ndx < 13; ndx++) { [array addObject:[UIImage imageNamed:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"icon-loading-%d (dragged).tiff", ndx]]]; } imageView.animationImages = array; imageView.animationDuration = 1; imageView.hidden = YES; [array release]; [self.contentView addSubview:imageView]; [self.contentView addSubview:unheartButton]; return self; } } Button click: - (IBAction) onButtonClick: (id) sender { unheartButton.hidden = YES; imageView.hidden = NO; [imageView startAnimating]; [self setNeedsDisplay]; [self.contentView setNeedsDisplay]; [self.unheartButton setNeedsDisplay]; [self.imageView setNeedsDisplay]; } I'm calling setNeedsDisplay on everything, but nothing seems to happen. If I scroll off the screen and back up, the button is hidden and now the loading icon is shown, but this only happens after a scroll. I'm not sure what I need to do to get the cell to repaint.

  • Removing and then adding MKAnnotations to a MapView is leaving me with a blank MapView

    - by Chris McCall
    A followup to this quesiton: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2944581/forcing-reload-of-view-when-returning-from-flipsideview-of-utility-application When returning from the flipside view, I'm calling NSArray *annotations = [NSArray arrayWithArray:[mapView annotations]]; [mapView removeAnnotations:annotations]; To remove all the pins from the map (let me know if this isn't the best way to do this). Then: for(Hole *hole in fetchedObjects) { double latitude = [hole.Latitude doubleValue]; cord.latitude = latitude; double longitude = [hole.Longitude doubleValue]; cord.longitude = longitude; WellPlaceMark *placemark = [[WellPlaceMark alloc] initWithCoordinate:cord withWellType:[NSString stringWithString: hole.WellType]]; [mapView addAnnotation:placemark]; } Plus: - (MKAnnotationView *) mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView viewForAnnotation:(id <MKAnnotation>) annotation{ MKPinAnnotationView *annView=[[MKPinAnnotationView alloc] initWithAnnotation:annotation reuseIdentifier:@"currentloc"]; if ([annotation isKindOfClass:[MKUserLocation class]]) return nil; if([annotation isKindOfClass:[WellPlaceMark class]]) { ... } annView.animatesDrop=FALSE; return annView; } All of this code seems to be called in the debugger, but when it's finished, I'm presented with a blank map. I've tried zooming out and the pins are nowhere. The map loads up fine on the first try, but once I call removeAnnotations, they never return.

  • Why does navigationItem.titleView align left when presentmodalviewcontroller called?

    - by jm333
    I'm using a UILabel for the titleView of a navigation bar (I'm making simple in-app web browser). It works fine, except that when I present a modal view controller, the titleView shifts from the center of the navbar to the far left (underneath the back button). I've tested in 3.0 and up. Here is relevant code: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // Title view label CGRect labelFrame = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 120.0, 36.0); UILabel *label = [[[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:labelFrame] autorelease]; label.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:14]; label.numberOfLines = 2; label.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; label.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentCenter; label.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; label.shadowColor = [UIColor blackColor]; label.shadowOffset = CGSizeMake(0.0, -1.0); label.lineBreakMode = UILineBreakModeMiddleTruncation; self.navigationItem.titleView = label; } -(void)displayComposerSheet:(NSString*)mailto { MFMailComposeViewController *picker = [[MFMailComposeViewController alloc] init]; picker.mailComposeDelegate = self; [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; [picker release]; } Screenshots: http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/7968/titleviewshift.jpg Any idea why this is happening? Thanks.

  • UIImage cropping on user selected rectangle in iphone?

    - by Rajendra Bhole
    Hi, I developing an small application in which i want to crop the UIImage captured by imagePickerControllerSourceTypeOfCamera. The UIImage should crop by user selected crop area or cropped rectangle. That means first user capture the image from the camera.Then on captured image the user selected an rectangle having color gray.That image(image data) should crop from that gray colored rectangle. My under develop code is as follows. -(IBAction) getPhoto:(id)sender { UIImagePickerController* imagePickerController = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; imagePickerController.delegate = self; if((UIButton *) sender == btnphotoAlbum) { imagePickerController.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypePhotoLibrary; } else { imagePickerController.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; } imagePickerController.allowsImageEditing = YES; //imagePickerController.toolbar.barStyle =UIBarStyleBlackOpaque; //UIToolbar *toolBar=[[UIToolbar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 20, 320)]; //imagePickerController. [self presentModalViewController:imagePickerController animated:YES]; } (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingImage:(UIImage *)image editingInfo:(NSDictionary *)editingInfo { UIImage *selectedImage = image; UIImage *originalImage = [editingInfo objectForKey:@"UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage"]; NSValue *cropRect = [editingInfo objectForKey:UIImagePickerControllerCropRect]; CGRect theRect = [cropRect CGRectValue]; //captureImage.image =[info objectForKey:@"UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage"]; [picker dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } How i crop the image?

  • Objective-C classes, pointers to primitive types, etc.

    - by Toby Wilson
    I'll cut a really long story short and give an example of my problem. Given a class that has a pointer to a primitive type as a property: @interface ClassOne : NSObject { int* aNumber } @property int* aNumber; The class is instantiated, and aNumber is allocated and assigned a value, accordingly: ClassOne* bob = [[ClassOne alloc] init]; bob.aNumber = malloc(sizeof(int)); *bob.aNumber = 5; It is then passed, by reference, to assign the aNumber value of a seperate instance of this type of class, accordingly: ClassOne* fred = [[ClassOne alloc] init]; fred.aNumber = bob.aNumber; Fred's aNumber pointer is then freed, reallocated, and assigned a new value, for example 7. Now, the problem I'm having; Since Fred has been assigned the same pointer that Bob had, I would expect that Bob's aNumber will now have a value of 7. It doesn't, because for some reason it's pointer was freed, but not reassigned (it is still pointing to the same address it was first allocated which is now freed). Fred's pointer, however, has the allocated value 7 in a different memory location. Why is it behaving like this? What am I minsunderstanding? How can I make it work like C++ does?

  • How to call PopOver Controller from UITableViewCell.accessoryView?

    - by Vic
    Hi, First I would like to say that I'm really new to ipad/ipod/iphone development, and to objective-c too. With that being said, I'm trying to develop a small application targeting the iPad, using Xcode and IB, basically, I have a table, for each UITableViewCell in the table, I added to the accessoryView a button that contains an image. Here is the code: UIImage *img = [UIImage imageNamed:@"myimage.png"]; UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; CGRect frame = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, img.size.width, img.size.height); button.frame = frame; // match the button's size with the image size [button setBackgroundImage:img forState:UIControlStateNormal]; // set the button's target to this table view controller so we can interpret touch events and map that to a NSIndexSet [button addTarget:self action:@selector(checkButtonTapped:event:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; button.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; cell.accessoryView = button; So far, so good, now the problem is that I want a PopOver control to appear when a user taps the button on the accessoryView of a cell. I tried this on the "accessoryButtonTappedForRowWithIndexPath" of the tableView: UITableViewCell *cell = [myTable cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath]; UIButton *button = (UIButton *)cell.accessoryView; //customViewController is the controller of the view that I want to be displayed by the PopOver controller customViewController = [[CustomViewController alloc]init]; popOverController = [[UIPopoverController alloc] initWithContentViewController: customViewController]; popOverController.popoverContentSize = CGSizeMake(147, 122); CGRect rect = button.frame; [popOverController presentPopoverFromRect:rect inView:cell.accessoryView permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionUp animated:YES]; The problem with this code is that it shows the Popover at the top of the application View, while debugging I saw the values of "rect" and they are: x = 267 y = 13 so I think it is pretty obvious why the PopOver is being displayed so up on the view, so my question is, how can I get the correct values for the PopOver to appear just below the button on the accessoryView of the cell? Also, as you can see, I'm telling it to use the "cell.accessoryView" for the "inView:" attribute, is that okay?

  • iPhone: In landscape-only, after first addSubview, UITableViewController doesn't rotate properly

    - by Clay Bridges
    A minimal illustrative Xcode project for this is available on github. On my UIWindow, when I add second (and subsequent) UITableView's as subviews, they do not rotate properly, and thus appear sideways. This is only tested in the Simulator. Here's a little code for you: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { ShellTVC* viewA = [[ShellTVC alloc] initWithTitle:@"View A"]; ShellTVC* viewB = [[ShellTVC alloc] initWithTitle:@"View B"]; // The first subview added will rotate to landscape correctly. // Any subsequent subview added will not. // You may try this by various commentings and rearranging of these two statements. [window addSubview:[viewA tableView]]; [window addSubview:[viewB tableView]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } viewB appears sideways. Comment out the addSubview for viewB, and viewA appears correctly. Do that for viewA only, and viewB appears correctly. I am not creating these UITableViewControllers via NIBs, though the UIWindow is. In case you are wondering, ShellTVC is-a UITableViewController, and implements this method: - (BOOL) shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft); } Also, I have set the UIInterfaceOrientation in the plist file to UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft. Probably related -- and unanswered -- SO questions here and here.

  • Twitter integration and iOS5: semantic and parsing issues

    - by Tyler
    I was using some of Apple's example code to write the Twitter integration for my app. However, I get a whopping amount of errors (mostly being Semantic and parse errors). How can this be solved? -(IBAction)TWButton:(id)sender { ACAccountStore *accountstore = [[ACAccountStore alloc] init]; //Make sure to retrive twitter accounts ACAccountType *accountType = [accountstore accountTypeWithAccountTypeIdentifier:ACAccountTypeIdentifierTwitter]; [accountstore requestAccessToAccountsWithType:accountType withCompletionHandler:^(BOOL granted, NSError *error) { if (granted) [{ NSArray *accountsArray = [accountstore accountsWithAccountType:accountType]; if ([accountsArray count] > 0) { ACAccount *twitterAccount = [accountsArray objectAtIndex:0]; TWRequest *postRequest = [[TWRequest alloc] initWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/update.json"] parameters:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:[@"Tweeted from iBrowser" forKey:@"status"] requestMethod:TWRequestMethodPOST]; [postRequest setAccount:twitterAccount]; [postRequest preformRequestWithHandeler:^(NSData *responseData, NSHTTPURLResponse *urlResponse, NSError *error) { NSString *output = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"HTTP response status: %i", [urlResponse statusCode]]; [self preformSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(displaytext:) withObject:output waitUntilDone:NO]; }]; } }]; } //Now lets see if we can actually tweet -(void)canTweetStatus { if ([TWTweetComposeViewController canSendTweet]) { self.TWButton.enabled = YES self.TWButton.alpha = 1.0f; }else{ self.TWButton.enabled = NO self.TWButton.alpha = 0.5f; } }
