• Does iPhone support "greying out" inactive controls?

  I have a control that goes inactive under some conditions in my iPhone app. I can [setUserInteractionEnabled: NO] on it and it doesn't respond to touches. Its appearance does not change however. Other environments I am familiar with "grey out" inactive controls. I wonder what is the idiomatic way to hint to the user that the control is inactive.

  I am currently researching the options that are available (both Open Source and Commercial) for developing a distributed application. "A distributed system consists of multiple autonomous computers that communicate through a computer network." Wikipedia The application is focused on distributing highly cpu intensive operations (as opposed to data intensive) so I'm sure MapReduce solutions don't fit the bill. • MKMapView Not Loading When Called on an NSThread?

  I am creating a MKMapView in a method named "generateMap". From inside viewDidLoad, this works: [self generateMap]; but this causes the map to quickly load and then disappear, leaving only the blank grey grid: [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(spinTheSpinner) toTarget:self withObject:nil]; Any ideas why this might be happening when I call the method through a thread?

  I have a CSV dump from another DB that looks like this (id, name, notes): 1001,John Smith,15 Main Street 1002,Jane Smith,"2010 Rockliffe Dr. Pleasantville, IL USA" 1003,Bill Karr,2820 West Ave. The last field may contain carriage returns and commas, in which case it is surrounded by double quotes. I use this code to import CSV into my table: BULK INSERT CSVTest FROM 'c:\csvfile.csv' WITH ( FIELDTERMINATOR = ',', ROWTERMINATOR = '\n' ) SQL Server 2005 bulk insert cannot figure out that carriage returns inside quotes are not row terminators. How to overcome?

However, I bump into problem when, in my app, I want to display search result with empty search string but selected scope button. • app icon not showing in iphone simulator

  I have a 57x57 PNG file in the root of my bundle, and the "Icon file" setting in my .plist file has the correct filename, but when the app is installed to the simulator, the icon is the default grey/white one. I've tried deleting my app from the simulator (both through the simulator and through rm -rf on the app directory from the console), I've tried cleaning my target, and I've tried renaming my app icon, all to no avail. What do I have to do to get the icon showing?

  Imagine if you will a operating system that had the following methods for files Create File: Creates (writes) a new file to disk. Calling this if a file exists causes a fault. Update File: Updates an existing file. Call this if a file doesn't exist causes a fault. Read File: Reads data from a file. Enumerate files: Gets all files in a folder. Files themselves in this operating system only have the following meta data: Created Time: The original date and time the file was created, by the Create File method. Modified Time: The date and time the file was last modified by the Update File method. If the file has never been modified, this will equal the Create Time. You have been given the task of writing an application which will sync the files between two directories (lets call them bill and ted) on a machine. However it is not that simple, the client has required that The application never faults (see methods above). That while the application is running the users can add and update files and those will be sync'd next time the application runs. Files can be added to either the ted or bill directories. File names cannot be altered. The application will perform one sync per time it is run. The application must be almost entirely in memory, in other words you cannot create a log of filenames and write that to disk and then check that the next time. The exception to point 6 is that you can store date and times between runs. Each date/time is associated with a key labeled A through J (so you have 10 to use) so you can compare keys between runs. There is no way to catch exceptions in the application. Answer will be accepted based on the following conditions: First answer to meet all requirements will be accepted. If there is no way to meet all requirements, the answer which ensures the smallest amount of missed changes per sync will be accepted. A bounty will be created (100 points) as soon as possible for the prize. The winner will be selected one day before the bounty ends. • White space on top of flash movie within table cell

  I have a flash movie, height = 151px width = 228, this is placed within a table cell ( cellpadding = 0 cellspacing = 0 vertical-align = top), but when it displays within the explorer windows there is a white space about 20px above the flash movie.   I'm trying to find an existing Drupal module to fit the bill: basically, when an email fails to send, it should save the email and automatically attempt to resend the email later. I'm using the SMTP module to relay emails through an SMTP gateway (required by the hosting provider), but every once in a while the connection is refused - probably due to the gateway being too busy.
