  • How can I find out why a website looks different when I upload it to IIS ?

    Good day... I've been working on a website project, that requires to be on a Microsoft IIS Web Server. It is HTML, pure HTML, with really nice CSS, web-standards, etc. I open this website using in my computer, using Firefox, IE 8.0, Safari, Google Chrome and it looks fine everywhere. But as I upload it to the Microsoft IIS server, it changes a few things. for example: the main menu, which is a navigation bar that has dropdowns, seems to change it's line-height for some reason, and it is bigger. Some <h3> or <h2> Alignment seems wrong as well... And the lines that are supposed to surround the photographs in the website (like a frame - dotted line) won't appear. But all the rest of the CSS is loading perfectly fine. I don't think it's a path problem as everything is loading fine. But this is making me look bad and it is very important to have this done as soon as possible. Can someone give me good suggestions on what to look at ? The IIS permissions seem fine. I'm not a big Microsoft fan...but I have to develop the website there. Also, I uploaded the site to my apache server and it worked wonders. I wish I could change the policies in this corporation, but I can't. Thank you so much for your kind help.

  • Dropdown in PHP

    Hi, I am using PHP 5.2 on SUN OS server. Having problems with the following piece of code that for a drop down: echo '<form action="" method="get">'; echo '<p>Information:<br />'; echo '<select name="acctno" style="width: 100px;">'; foreach ($this->account_names as $acctno => $acctname) { echo '<option value="'.$acctno.'">'.$acctname.'</option>'; } echo '</select> <input type="submit" value="view" />'; echo '</form>'; Worked perfectly fine on Firefox and Chrome; however there is a problem with Internet Explorer. In IE the dropdown width is limited to the size i.e 100px. So only the first 15-16 characters of the account name are displayed all the time. However in chrome or firefox, even if only 15-16 characters are displayed initially, when the drop down arrow is clicked upon, it show the entire name (however long it may be). This does not happen with IE. So if the account name is, lets say, "1223456789abcdefghijkl" then: For IE: shows only "123456789" all the time Ffor chrome or firefox: shows "123456789" and when it is dropped down it show the full name as "123456789abcdefghijkl".   • Windows repair console, impossible?

    I found an old Windows XP SP2 in my -trash- cd can and tried it on a 30 GB FAT32 partition. Installation went fine till the copying operation was completed and XP asked for reboot. After that either it starts over again or throws invalid disk. Starting over is an infinite loop the only way I see is to choose the "Repair console" but I'm not used to a DOS box. Can anyone help me through this harmful installation?

    Redmine has a nice batch edit feature, but nothing equivalent for "batch create" (please correct me if I'm wrong!) FogBugz lets you quickly create multiple tickets with the same properties (type, status, assignment, etc.) via a ajax-ified text box at the bottom of any filtered view of tickets. Tickets created this way match the values of the filter (and the filter grouping value - there's a text-box at the bottom of each group). Toodledo has simpler option: it's "Add multiple tasks" feature is a textarea where each line is turned into an item. Is there a redmine plugin out there that adds functionality like either of the above?

    I use jquery pagination plugin for paging... If there is one pagination plugin there is no problem for me... But if there is two one seems to work but the other doesn't seem too...     Hi everyone, I have just updated my cakephp library to latest version 1.3.1. Before this I was running v1.3.0 with no errors. After running the application I am given this error message. unserialize() [function.unserialize]: Error at offset 0 of 2574 bytes [CORE\cake\libs\cache\file.php, line 176] I updated the libraries simply by replacing the existing cake files with the new ones downloaded from the net. Is it the correct way of updating applications. I did'nt made any customizations to the core library of cakePHP. What is the problem ? Please help. Thanks

    Hi, There are 2 windows domains named as OPR & BDC. In OPR domain the CCRC server is hosted, users accessing from BDC domain can able to connect to CCRC and list the vob....and also able to join the project. To perform any checkout/checkin/loading resources it is taking long time and after a day it is in same state.Connectivity is fine to OPR domain from BDC domain ( ping & tracrt is working fine) .   • wpf progress bar slows 10x times serial port communications... how could be possible that?

    I know that this could look a dumb question, but here's my problem. I have a worker dialog that "hides" a backgroundworker, so in a worker thread I do my job, I report the progress in a standard way and then I show the results in my WPF program. The dialog contains a simply animated gif and a standard wpf progress bar, and when a progress is notified I set Value property. All lokks as usual and works well for any kind of job, like web service calls, db queries, background elaboration and so on. For my job we use also many "couplers", card readers that reads data from smart card, that are managed with native C code that access to serial port (so, I don't use .NET SerialPort object). I have some nunit tests and I read a sample card in 10 seconds, but using my actual program, under the backgroundworker and showing my worker dialog, I need 1.30 minutes to do the SAME job. I struggled into problem for days until I decide to remove the worker dialog, and without dialog I obtain the same performances of the tests! So I investigated, and It's not the dialog, not the animated gif, but the wpf progress bar! Simply the fact that a progress bar is shown (so, no animation, no Value set called, nothing of nothing) slows serialport communicatitons. Looks incredible? I've tested this behavior and it's exactly what happens.

  • How to track a projects extraneous quirks

    Hello, It's possible that the answer to this question may just be standard bug tracking software like jira or fogbugz, but I'm kind of hoping someone out there knows a better system for what I'm describing. My most current project is requiring a lot of setup quirkiness to get into a position where I can actually start a coding section. For example: A series of convoluted internal company commands before I can insitgate an SSH. Making sure any third party classes that make external calls have internal company proxy options setup - while also making sure these setting wont be set up when installed on a production environment Making sure the proxy is set before trying to install pear packages. Other similar things, mostly involving internal IT security and getting it to work with modules and packages. Individually none of these things is a huge deal, and I've written extensive notes to myself regarding exact commands and aditions I've made, but they're currently in a general text document and it's going to be hard to remember exactly where what I need is far down the line. We also have several new staff starting soon and I' rather give them an easier time of setting up their programming environments. Like I said, they aren't 'programming quirks' exactly, but just the constant fiddling that comes about before programming starts in earnest. Any thoughts on the best way to documents these things for my own and future generations sanity?

  • Redmine git integration - issue in accessing git from redmine but not from external git client

    I have setup redmine integration with apache as described in the redmine documentation. I have a /git path accessible with auth and /git-private accessible only to redmine. When I clone the repository through /git path, I get the up-to-date repo. But when I try to view it in redmine repo viewer, I get a 404 "The entry or revision was not found in the repository." error. Trying to clone using the git-private url in the redmine box gives a bare repository though it is the same repo as the one cloned by the /git path. I have enabled RedmineGitSmartHttp in the /git path. What could be the issue here?     Running Ubuntu 12.04 and trying to configure postfix to relay send and receive through GMAIL. Am running into connection issues particularly with TLS. Have tried a bunch of troubleshooting solutions and have changed my main.cf to address TLS but still receive the below errors.   • boot.ini Issue - Multi-boot System, Linux, XP and XP64 - Missing File in system32 Message

    I have an interesting issue that has me stumped. Not that I'm a computer whiz or anything. I have a multi-boot system with two hard drives: one drive has CentOS and Windows XP 64-bit and the other drive has Windows XP 32-bit. CentOS grub boot loader works great, and I have it set to default to Windows. But this is the problem. My boot.ini file seems to be in order, yet it still gives an error if I choose the default OS (which, consequently, is XP32): Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrput: (Windows root) \system32\ntoskrnl.exe. Please re-install a copy of the above file. But if I choose the actual boot ID, i.e., toggle to the Windows XP Pro selection it boots just fine.
