  • Are there any tutorials on web hosting at home? [closed]

    I want to host at home and I have done it before but I want to setup a server not just hosting on my windows 7. I know the risks and its better to just buy from hosting providers etc. I'm interested to host at home and I can't find any okay tutorial using unix, ubuntu server or whatever is the best. I want to see how you can install your mail server and make it work on your host and also ftp and all that interesting stuff. You people got any links or what?

  • Replacing every 10th pipe with new line in unix

    Lets say I have fields: name, number, id I have a data file: name1|number1|id1|name2|number2|id2...etc I want to replace every 3rd pipe with a new line or '\n' so I get: name1|number1|id1 name2|number2|id2 I'm having no luck with awk or sed. I've tried the following, and variations of: awk '/"\|"/{c++;if(c==10){sub("\|","\n");c=0}}1' inputfile.txt sed 's/"|"/"\n"/2' inputfile.txt It tells me awk: syntax error near line 1 awk: illegal statement near line 1 awk: syntax error near line 1 awk: bailing out near line 1 Any help is greatly appreciated!   • Automate the process of looking for CVE (new vulnerabilities) related to our infrastructure

    Is there any service available where you simply list the services, programs and versions you use, and when some CVE comes out about it, you automatically get alerted? Also, is there any other place to look for this kind of information. Do some people release security vulnerabilities to other places than CVE? So in general, how do you guys keep up to date with what might be vulnerable in your infrastructure? Edit: Since I've been asked, we are a Unix shop with mostly Red Hat and some HP-UX. I would still prefer a high level solution which are OS independent. What happens if we use software versions which are not in the official repositories of Red Hat/HP/... or simply not supported by them.

  • Ericsson f3507g WWAN (3G Broadband) and AT commands

    I have a lenovo x200t tablet with WWAN built into it. I'm trying to connect to the internet using AT commands and a C# program which I am making so that the program can connect to the net and upload information on demand. I don't want to use Lenovo's "Access Connections" as it is too complicated for the end user. So far I have been able to use terminal to turn the card on and off, ring landlines and send SMS messages. However I can't seem to access the internet using it. I could access the net through it before I removed "Access Connections" software/bloatware. The commands I am using to try and access the net are: Connect on COM7 to the modem Send initialisation string "AT+CFUN=1" Send AT*ENAP=1,1 as suggested here (http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Ericsson%5FF3507g%5FMobile%5FBroadband%5FModule) Windows says it is "Identifying" the network and a yellow exclamation mark appears on the networking icon in the task bar, but the connection fails and drops off. An IP is assigned to the "Local Area Connection 2" of 169.254.1.192 with a subnet of 255.255.0.0 - no gateway or DNS. Definately no net connection... Anyone got any ideas?

    I am using Java on Windows XP and want to be able to send commands to another program such as telnet. I do not want to simply execute another program. I want to execute it, and then send it a sequence of commands once it's running.     I have implemented the ability to upload, download, delete, etc. using the FtpWebRequest class in C#. That is fairly straight forward. What I need to do now is support sending arbitrary ftp commands such as quote SITE LRECL=132 RECFM=FB or quote SYST Here's an example configuration straight from our app.config: <!-- The following commands will be executed before any uploads occur --> <extraCommands> <command>quote SITE LRECL=132 RECFM=FB</command> </extraCommands> I'm still researching how to do this using FtpWebRequest. I'll probably try WebClient class next. Anyone can point me in the right direction quicker? Thanks! UPDATE: I've come to that same conclusion, as of .NET Framework 3.5 FtpWebRequest doesn't support anything except what's in WebRequestMethods.Ftp.*. I'll try a third party app recommended by some of the other posts. Thanks for the help!

  • Running commands over ssh with Java

    Scenerio: I'd like to run commands on remote machines from a Java program over ssh (I am using OpenSSH on my development machine). I'd also like to make the ssh connection by passing the password rather than setting up keys as I would with 'expect'. Problem: When trying to do the 'expect' like password login the Process that is created with ProcessBuilder cannot seem to see the password prompt. When running regular non-ssh commands (e.g 'ls') I can get the streams and interact with them just fine. I am combining standard error and standard out into one stream with redirectErrorStream(true); so I am not missing it in standard error...When I run ssh with the '-v' option, I see all of the logging in the stream but I do not see the prompt. This is my first time trying to use ProcessBuilder for something like this. I know it would be easier to use Python, Perl or good ol' expect but my boss wants to utilize what we are trying to get back (remote log files and running scripts) within an existing Java program so I am kind of stuck.     I have a text string, for ex. 'A vehicle travels from A to B, distance {$d} km at constant speed. While returning back to A on same path it {$variation} its speed by {$v} km/hr. The total time of journey is {$t} hours. Find the original speed of vehicle.' The variables in the curly brackets are to be replaced by appropriate latex equation. I'm using php's preg_replace to replace the variables with latex commands. Unfortunately, my latex commands are coming as it is. It is not processed by mathjax. For ex, above text becomes A vehicle travels from A to B, distance 1 km at constant speed. While returning back to A on same path it increased its speed by (\frac{3}{2}) km/hr. The total time of journey is 1 hours. Find the original speed of vehicle. The frac is show as it is. What is wrong here? Please ask me if you need any more info. Thanks

  • Controlling shell command line wildcard expansion in C or C++

    I'm writing a program, foo, in C++. It's typically invoked on the command line like this: foo *.txt My main() receives the arguments in the normal way. On many systems, argv[1] is literally *.txt, and I have to call system routines to do the wildcard expansion. On Unix systems, however, the shell expands the wildcard before invoking my program, and all of the matching filenames will be in argv. Suppose I wanted to add a switch to foo that causes it to recurse into subdirectories. foo -a *.txt would process all text files in the current directory and all of its subdirectories. I don't see how this is done, since, by the time my program gets a chance to see the -a, then shell has already done the expansion and the user's *.txt input is lost. Yet there are common Unix programs that work this way. How do they do it? In Unix land, how can I control the wildcard expansion? (Recursing through subdirectories is just one example. Ideally, I'm trying to understand the general solution to controlling the wildcard expansion.)

  • Unix crypt() function in smalltalk/pharo

    Hello, I want to encode passwords for UNIX accounts using the crypt function. I'm using pharo 1.0. I tried to install the crypto package from squeakmap, but it gaves me an error and the package seem to get partially installed (categories without class). How can I get my password crypted? I'm willing to invoke external code, if it is required (and there's a package in SqueakMap that makes the trick in pharo). Thanks.

The code is all C++ but fairly complex. I'm looking for a way to automated / semi-automated generation of equivalent Makefiles out of my Xcode projects, after getting tired to do this by manual trial-and-error. Thanks for any hints.     I can't seem to get the correct Unix epoch time out of this PHP DateTime object. $startingDateTime = "2005/08/15 1:52:01 am"; $foo = new DateTime($startingDateTime, new DateTimeZone("America/New_York")); echo $foo-format('U'); which gives 1124085121 Which is Mon, 15 Aug 2005 00:52:01 GMT -500 (according to http://www.epochconverter.com/) but that's incorrect by an hour. It SHOULD be 1124088721 and spit back at me as Mon, 15 Aug 2005 01:52:01 GMT -500 Any help would be appreciated.
