  I am trying to enable X11 forwarding on my server which is running on FreeBSD 7.1. I have a putty installed in my windows in which i have enabled X11 forwarding by checking on Enable X11 forwarding and specifying following parameter X display location localhost:0 after that i run putty and checked whether X11 is enabled or not by typing following command echo "$DISPLAY" or echo $DISPLAY but i am getting following error DISPLAY: Undefined variable. Even i have installed XManager but in that also i am getting following error The X11 forwarding request was rejected ! To solve this problem, please turn on the X11 forwarding features of the remote SSH server can anyone suggest me how to get rid off this ?

This works fine if I blacklist the radeon kernel module via /etc/modprobe.d/. When I select an online buddy, under the Buddies menu the options "Share my screen with Bob" and "Ask to Share Bob's Screen" are disabled. Sometimes starting a chat with that person will enable the screen sharing but often not. Once its enabled it works fine but I have no idea what the key is to getting it enabled. It seems fairly random when it works. This is over the public internet using Google Talk. Both ends are running OSX 10.5.

  We have just deployed a Windows 2008R2 server in our Windows 2003 domain. XP clinets are unable to browse in "entire network" and find the new server. It can be accessed by entering \\servername and it can be pinged by name and IP address. Users access shares without issue. Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled. Computer browser is running on the Windows 2008R2 system. Turn on Network Discovery is enabled. • How to get HP ASM to work under Xen Hypervisor?

  I have a HP DL560, currently running Debian Squeeze as dom0 on Xen Hypervisor, and the fans constantly run at 100%. In the past this wasn't a problem because I could install HP's ASM which includes fan management. However since I have installed a xen enabled kernel, the hp-health driver (the piece of ASM that controls the fans) won't start (at boot or manually). Anyone know of any way to make it work? (Or any other method of controlling the fans safely.) Note that the server has four i386 Xeon CPUs, each with its own fan, plus an extra case fan, and all of the fans can be doubled for redundancy. Also everything works fine under Squeeze without the xen-enabled kernel (can still boot the other one and hp-health loads fine on boot).

• MacBook Pro Boot Camp SPDIF passthrough?

  I'm using Windows 7 through Boot Camp on a unibody Macbook Pro and am having problems using the SPDIF output. I get the expected Dolby Digital or DTS in some movies, but in other movies and in games (Source engine, StarCraft 2) where the output is enabled to 5.1, the output invariably shows up as Dolby Pro Logic, which means (I think) that passthrough is not enabled. The boot camp drivers for the sound card don't have any sort of control panel, and the Windows settings for enabling DTS and Dolby seem to work when I test those outputs in the sound settings. Is there some other setting or utility I can use to enable SPDIF passthrough for all programs?

• Picasa “sync to web” folders do not stay in sync

  I have multiple folders from the Picasa software that were moved to my Google+ profile using the "sync to web" feature. At some point I noticed that some of these folders were on Google+ and had the green upload arrow in Picasa, however the "sync to web" option was disabled. I tried to re-enable the "sync to web" option and it starts loading but after a few seconds the "sync to web" option is back to disabled. I get no error message, it just switches back to disable. Is there any way I could leave the option enabled? Out of around 80 something albums synced to Google+ only 3-4 are not able to have the "sync to web" option enabled. Thanks.

  My goal is to implement APC for opcode cache for a drupal 6 production site. I have so far tested APC with several php files with and without including other php files with include_once. Also tried to tweak the apc.ini values for shm_size, apc.include_once_override and apc.stat. Restarted apache every time. Resulting in apc.php not showing any changes in any values. I tried to set (with chown and chgrp) apache as the owner of the apc.php file and some test php files resulting in 500 server error. Is there a way to check if the file permissions prevent the apc stay running? I'm tremendously grateful for any suggestions or help.

So on the server, I have SQL Server installed with a SQL Server account (mixed mode is enabled). I'm trying to connect to this server from the win 7 machine in the workgroup, but no go. • Why doesn't the People Pane in Outlook 2010 show appointments for individual contacts?

  Outlook 2010 will not show appointments in the people pane. Under the activities tab if I go to All Items then eventually the appointments will show, but this takes a seriously long time. If I then click off the tab to look at another field then return to All Items, all the appointments are gone again. I need to be able to: Open a contact and see when that contact has appointments Open an appointment and see which contacts are attached to that appointment It works well from the appointment card to the contact, but has me completely frustrated going from the contact card to find the appontments. I have tried many things but cannot solve this problem. My set up is as follows: Exchange Server Windows 7 Ultimate Indexing enabled Cached exchange mode enabled Help! This is the whole reason I installed Outlook 2010.

• Folder redirection save times are awful slow

  I recently set up folder redirection for Documents on Server 2008, but it's painfully slow at the moment. My users are all using Visual Studio 2010, and a save takes 20-30 seconds (whereas it used to take 2 seconds locally). I understand this is because they are being saved to the server, and that takes time (though I did think it would be faster over a gigabit link, with servers on the same network). I enabled offline files on the share, set the option to All files or folders, and enabled Optimize for performance. I thought that this would pull all the files down locally (which I think it did), allow local editing of said files, synchronizing them quietly in the background from time to time (which it does not do - saves right to the share). Is there any way I can speed this process up a bit? Any other tweaks I can do?

  Simple question, I have 3 hosts running 4.1 Essentials Plus with vmware HA. I tried to create several virtual machines that filled 90% of each server's memory capacity. I know that vmware has really sophisticated memory management within virtual machines, but I do not understand how the vCenter can allow me even to power on the virtual machines that exceed the critical memory level, when the host failover can be still handled. Is it due to the fact that virtual machines does not use the memory, so that it is still considered as free, so virtual machines can be powered on ? But what would happen if all VMs would be really using the RAM before the host failure - they could not be migrated to other hosts after the failure. The default behaviour in XenServer is that, it automatically calculates the maximum memory level that can be used within the cluster so that the host failure is still protected. Vmware does the same thing ? The admission policy is enabled. Vmware HA enabled.

• How to set up dual quadro cards on RHEL 5.5?

  I have a RHEL 5 workstation with 2 nvidia Quadro FX4500 cards, with one display attached to each card. After doing a clean install of RHEL 5.5, the second display doesnt work (it worked ok in RHEL 5.2). Neither separate X screens nor Xinerama are working. The kernel version is 2.6.18-194.el5 I've tried nvidia drivers 185.18.36 (the ones that i was using on 5.2) and the latest 260.19.36 and neither works.   I installed APC on Ubuntu 10.04 and it seems to be working fine but I'm seeing this error in my Apache error.log: PHP: syntax error, unexpected '=' in /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/apc.ini on line 2 The contents of the file are: cat /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/apc.ini extension=apc.so apc.enabled="1" apc.shm_segments="1" apc.shm_size="192" apc.num_files_hint="1024" And I have also tried it without the quotes (") around the values and get the same error. I've looked at loads of the tutorials on installing APC that mention apc.ini and they all seem to use one of the two syntax formats I have tried. I'd appreciate any ideas. Update: This still causes it: cat /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/apc.ini extension='apc.so' apc.enabled='1' apc.shm_segments='1' apc.shm_size='192' apc.num_files_hint='1024' I changed to: cat /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/apc.ini extension=apc.so and it still happens (there's no line 2 in the file now!) I'm assuming a /etc/init.d/apache2 reload will be sufficient to read the new config, is that my mistake?

I have the following simple code: <?php $db = new SQLiteDatabase("test2.sdb"); unset($db); ?> As the result of this code (which I execute in the command line "php test2.php") I get: Fatal error: Class 'SQLiteDatabase' not found in /var/www/test2.php on line 3 Does anybody know how can I make PHP able to use sqlite? P.S. Here I found out that "SQLite support is enabled by default on a standard Linux PHP compilation starting with PHP 5.0." And I have "PHP Version = 5.2.6-2ubuntu4.6". So, sqlite should be enabled unless the "--disable-sqlite". In my case output of "phpinfo();" does not contain "sqlite" at all.

  I installed PHP 5.2.11 and upon enabling the php_mssql.dll module (and the obligatory restart of the services) started receiving warnings about not being able to load the dynamic library. The operating environment is IIS ISAPI under Windows 2003 R2. Here is the list of things that were checked File Exists in \PHP\ext directory and has the same timestamp as the other distribution delivered libraries. Permissions are correct to the file. Other extensions are enabled and functioning with identical permissions. ntwdblib.dll has been copied from a SQL Server 2005 installation (per php.net's requirements for the module) Other modules before and after the php_mssql entry are working. I've also stripped down and remove all non-essential references with detectable improvements. I turned up logging and enabled all the error logs in the php.ini, nothing is generated by the logs. Searching Google has turned up a slew of closed/unsolved bug reports on php.net and some miscellaneous near-matches, none of which have really addressed the problem or lead to any inspirations.

So far all I found was the below snippet from the samba documentation winbind cache time (G) This parameter specifies the number of seconds the winbindd(8) daemon will cache user and group information before querying a Windows NT server again. **This does not apply to authentication requests**, these are always evaluated in real time unless the winbind offline logon option has been enabled. Default: winbind cache time = 300 Clearly the winbind cache time parameter does not control the cache TTL for authentication requests. Is there any other way I can implement a cache timeout for winbind authentication requests? Thank you

  I'm trying to figure out how to set a default host for my nginx installation. I found this article in the nginx Wiki: http://wiki.nginx.org/NginxVirtualHostExample#A_Default_Catchall_Virtual_Host Unfortunately, this doesn’t work. After restarting I get this: Restarting nginx: nginx: [emerg] unknown directive "http" in /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/catchall:1 nginx: configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf test failed After removing the http directive I get this: Restarting nginx: nginx: [emerg] unknown log format "main" in /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/catchall:7 nginx: configuration file /etc/nginx/nginx.conf test failed I’m on Ubuntu 10.04.3 where I’m using the official nginx PPA. Version 1.0.9 of nginx is running.
