• Hyphen vs Dash : Replace Dash with Hyphen

  Alright so we had a problem recently In reporting services some of the String Columns were appearing as gibberish Chinese characters. On further investigation we found it is the hyphen. Well that's what we though first. On further investigation we found it a dash (or en dash) . Basically the reason this has happened is people copy pasting values into this column from word which converts hyphens into dashes automatically. But if you look at the database they both look the same. Though on the application side you can see the difference. How do I replace the dash with a normal hyphen. If you copy the value in put it in SQL server. A hyphen is gray while a dash is black but they both look exactly the same (i.e not bigger or smaller). Problem is I can't write a REPLACE script then (they are the freakin same) REPLACE ('-' with '-') is there a way special characters like the dash can be identified in SQL server? SQL Server v 2005

• 'Hot code replace' not working -- Eclipse doesn't change any code on JBoss

  Hello, fellow visitors! I'm currently experiencing a problem with 'hot code replace' not working on Eclipse Galileo and JBoss 4.2.3. Among other applications I'm running an exploded Java WAR on my local JBoss. The project from which it is build is managed by Maven. I build the project using the Maven goal war:exploded and then I copy that directory to JBoss with an ANT script. When I'm now running the application and set a breakpoint anywhere in the code, Eclipse properly halts at that line in the debug mode. But when I'm making a change to the source file and save it, Eclipse doesn't apply this change to the JBoss. For example, when I make a normal code line into a comment, the debugger still steps over this comment as if it was regular Java code. Or when I remove a line, the debugger seems to get out of sync with the file and starts stepping over parenthesis. But I'm not getting any 'hot code replace error'-messages either. It seems to me that Eclipse applies the changes to the source files, but doesn't apply it to the JBoss. Are there any special preferences that have to be turned on in order to make hot code replace work? Or are there any mistakes in how I build and deploy the application to the JBoss? • Replace image in word doc using OpenXML

  Following on from my last question here OpenXML looks like it probably does exactly what I want, but the documentation is terrible. An hour of googling hasn't got me any closer to figuring out what I need to do. I have a word document. I want to add an image to that word document (using word) in such a way that I can then open the document in OpenXML and replace that image. Should be simple enough, yes? I'm assuming I should be able to give my image 'placeholder' an id of some sort and then use GetPartById to locate the image and replace it. Would this be the correct method? What is this Id? How do you add it using Word? Every example I can find which does anything remotely similar starts by building the whole word document from scratch in ML, which really isn't a lot of use. EDIT: it occured to me that it would be easier to just replace the image in the media folder with the new image, but again can't find any indication of how to do this.

  I need to write a simple script to replace a block of text in a configuration file with the contents of another file. Let's assume with have the following simplified files: server.xml <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <Server port="8005" shutdown="SHUTDOWN"> <Service name="Catalina"> <Connector port="80" protocol="HTTP/1.1"/> <Engine name="Catalina" defaultHost="localhost"> <!-- BEGIN realm --> <sometags/> <sometags/> <!-- END realm --> <Host name="localhost" appBase="webapps"/> </Engine> </Service> </Server> realm.xml <Realm className="org.apache.catalina.realm.UserDatabaseRealm" resourceName="UserDatabase"/> I want to run a script and have realm.xml replace the contents between the <!-- BEGIN realm --> and <!-- END realm --> lines. If realm.xml changes then whenever the script is run again it will replace the lines again with the new contents of realm.xml. This is intended to be run in /etc/init.d/tomcat on startup of the service on multiple installations on which the realm is going to be different. I'm not so sure how can I do this simply with awk or sed.

  Hi, I am trying to do this regex match and replace but not able to do it. Example <SPAN class="one">first content here</SPAN> <SPAN class="two">second content here </SPAN> <SPAN class="three">one; two; three; and more.</span> <SPAN class="four">more content here.</span> I want to find each set of the span tags and replace with something like this Find <SPAN class="one">first content here</SPAN> Change to <one>first content here</one> same way the the rest of the span tags. class="one", class="two" and so on are the only key identifier which I use in the regex match expression. So if I find a span tag with these class then I want to do the replace. My main issue is that I am not able to find the occurrence of first closing tag so what it does is it finds from the start to end which is of no use. So far I have been trying to do this using notepad++ but just found that it has its limitations so any php help would be appreciated. regards

But the problem is that, we need to replace those words if any match is found at the beginning. i.e. in the tblInput, in case of ID 1, the words that will be replaced is only 'Hi' and not 'are' since before 'are', 'How' is there and it is not in the tblReplacement list. in case of Id 2, the words that will be replaced are 'Ok' & 'This'. Since these both words are present in the tblReplacement table and after the first word i.e. 'Ok' is replaced, the second word which is 'This' here comes first in the list of ID category 2 . Since it is available in the tblReplacement, and is the first word now, so this will also be replaced.   I'm trying to find every instance of @username in comment text and replace it with a link. Here's my PHP so far: $comment = preg_replace('/@(.+?)\s/', '<a href="/users/${1}/">@${1}</a> ', $comment); The only problem is the regex is dependent upon there being whitespace after the @username reference.   Hi All, I want to write a named scoped to get a record from its id. Ex: I have a model called Event and its same as doing Event.find(id) (I dont want to use find inside my controller and I want my controller to use a named scoped (for future flexibility)) So I have written a named scoped named_scope :from_id, lambda { |id| {:conditions = ['id= ?', id] } } and I'm calling it from my controller like Event.from_id(id) But my problems is it returns Event object array not only one object Ex: if I want to get event name I have to write event = Event.from_id(id) event[0].name instead I want to write event = Event.from_id(id) event.name Am I doing something wrong here.. thanks in advance cheers sameera

  I need to do a preg_replace for the exact opposite of this preg_match regular expression: preg_match('#^(\w+/){0,2}\w+\.\w+$#', $string); So I need to replace all strings that are not valid with an empty string - '' So it needs to remove the first / and last / if found, and all non-valid characters, that is the only valid characters are A-Z, a-z, 0-9, _, ., and / (if it's not the first or last characters of the string).   This is my first Bash script so forgive me if this question is trivial. I need to count the number of files within a specified directory $HOME/.junk. I thought this would be simple and assumed the following would work: numfiles= find $HOME/.junk -type f | wc -l echo "There are $numfiles files in the .junk directory." Typing find $HOME/.junk -type f | wc -l at the command line works exactly how I expected it to, simply returning the number of files. Why is this not working when it is entered within my script? Am I missing some special notation when it comes to passing options to the utilities? Thank you very much for your time and help.

  I'm trying to mimic the json_encode bitmask flags implemented in PHP 5.3.0, here is the string I have: $s = addslashes('O\'Rei"lly'); // O\'Rei\"lly Doing json_encode($str, JSON_HEX_APOS | JSON_HEX_QUOT) outputs the following: "O\\\u0027Rei\\\u0022lly" And I'm currently doing this in PHP versions older than 5.3.0: str_replace(array('\\"', "\\'"), array('\\u0022', '\\\u0027'), json_encode($s)) or str_replace(array('\\"', '\\\''), array('\\u0022', '\\\u0027'), json_encode($s)) Which correctly outputs the same result: "O\\\u0027Rei\\\u0022lly" I'm having trouble understanding why do I need to replace single quotes ('\\\'' or even "\\'" [surrounding quotes excluded]) with '\\\u0027' and not just '\\u0027'.

• How to change out-of-focus text selection color in Xcode?

  Okay, I'll bite. I've got really pleasant code/window colors set up in Xcode. Ordinarily, my selection color is very visible. When I am doing a project search and iterating through the results, however, the results list stays in focus and the found text remains out of focus, using a different background color. This color is extremely hard to detect, especially when the text is embedded in a larger code block and the view is shifting around as it scrolls to the results. Here's an example: Left side is in focus (just normal selection), right side is out of focus (during project find) Often it takes a few seconds to find where the heck the selected text is. Unless I'm just missing it, Xcode seems to offer no way to change this particular selection color. Interestingly, it also doesn't seem to follow the selection color from the Appearance panel. Does anyone know a way to change this color or force it to be more visible, short of changing my entire color scheme around?

But apart from actual token I need to know as well whether that token was first, second or third in a subject string. Is there any way to access that info? I found an argument $count in preg_replace_callback definition (http://php.net/manual/en/function.preg-replace-callback.php), which counts replacements, but I'm not sure if it is accessible from within callback. Any example of the usage in described context?
