This, especially given that a user id now looks like this - i:0#.w|ws\administrator .. all of those have a meaning .. i stands for identity 0 is the zero’th registered claims provider w before the pipe is windows and after pipe is the final username. What if I had a hotmail account called ws\administrator? You see, browsing through web.SiteUsers, is no longer enough.   I have used the css style sheet as font-family:arial,helvicta,sans-serif,etc... in a php file when i checked it in browser i dont know which font it is using from the font-family . i wanted to know the exact font used by the browser to display. i.e whether it is using arial or helvicta or sans-serif for the text i have displayed. please any one let me know to find this. i have checked by putting this in wordpad but it is taking my default system font. • Find "secret" port number

  this may be kind of an odd question. My friend has challenged me. So somehow, he change the "port" of his site to 31337. If you just go to domain.com, you get redirected to google, to access the real site you go to domain.com:31337. He is going to change it again and he is challenging me to find out which port it is. • VPS to replace MobileMe or Google Apps.

  All, Yes, this has been touched on in other questions, but I can't find something similar enough. I currently have Google Apps hosting personal email, calendars, contacts, etc. I do like the other google services, but they're outside of Apps. One of the little google irritations that I have to maintain a separate account for Picassa, etc. So, I'm thinking about moving myself away from Google, but purely for personal, privacy type issues. Do I really like the ads, the email snooping, etc? I've had, and liked MobileMe, back when it was iTools, and then .Mac, but it doesn't offer that much really. How easily can I replicate it all on a VPS? I don't want to host it myself at home, I'd lose all the wonderful datacenter goodness. THis isn't about personal geekery in my own basement, just about taking a little control back from Google. So, email is fine running an IMAP server, a nice front-end, etc. What about Calendars and Contacts? And, how easily can it be setup to sync to the desktop and iPhone? Thanks.

• I can't find my "WIndows 8" Partition

  My girlfriend had her Dell Pre-Installed with Windows Vista when she bought it,then she upgraded it to Windows 7 and then 8.Since she wanted an Operating System which is fast and powerful i suggested Ubuntu for her.She runs a Dell Inspiron 1420 with 2 gigs of ram and an Nvdia 8400M GS,though the laptop is a bit old,it does her things like a dream. So,I have used a Flash Drive(8 Gigs) to install Ubuntu 13.04 on her system and used "Overwrite the Windows 8 OS".Then afterwards when I logged in I can't find any of her files which was on her WIndows 8 installation. Anyone know a work around with this?!

  When I try to boot from my USB it says: (initramfs) unable to find a live medium containing a live file system I know of lots of questions here about this problem... I've tried every solution but nothing worked. I just ask if anyone here who got a Toshiba Sattelite Pro c650 and found the solution, because I simply cant install Ubuntu 10.04 because of this :((( Other spec: - I have USB 2.0 - Changed all possible settings in BIOS. (AHCI..) - ISO is not corrupted (boot is succesful on my other HP Laptop) Thanks. Edit: But XUbuntu works :/

SQL server possesses an in-built function to do this job - CHARINDEX(character_to_search, string, [starting_position]) Returns the position of the first occurrence of the character in the string. • Find visitors to multiple subdomains on single visit with Google Analytics

  I'm working on a site that has quite the backlog of Google Analytics data for their site network. One of our big questions is whether people enter on one site and move to another (and if so, of course, how do these visits differ from single site visits). The hostname report (Audience Network Hostname) shows all the host names and I've setup Advanced Segments to get site-specific data. That all works great, but I'm really having a hard time figuring out how to find visits to multiple sites as defined by visiting more than one subdomain or the root site and one or more subdomains. I do see that other hostnames somehow come through when I apply one of the segments to the host name report. Which I can't say I expected. Is that the best way to see if people are visiting 2+ sites?

• Ubuntu doesn't find hdds with higher clock rates

  I dual boot windows 7 64-bit and ubuntu 13.10 64-bit on separate disks, and utilize some overclocking from the BIOS. Windows works fine, however ubuntu can't seem to find any hard drives, except for at stock cpu speeds. While attempting to boot it says Gave up waiting for root device... and ALERT! /dev/sdb7 does not exist. Dropping to shell! A bootable usb stick still works, but gparted doesn't detect any other drives. Have tried: Boot-repair Changing SATA mode in BIOS Newer kernels Older ubuntu versions Not sure it's relevant, but the motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-A75M-UD2H with the newest BIOS version, the CPU an AMD Llano. This is hardly a fatal error, but it's inconvenient to change BIOS settings whenever I want to switch OS, and furthermore I'm quite curious about why it won't work. I'd appreciate any insight into what the actual problem is. So how can I resolve this issue ?

• Why does update-grub not find ubuntu 11.10?

  I've recently installed ubuntu onto my laptop. With the intention of dual booting with windows 7. On installation Grub wasn't loading, the computer continued to boot straight into windows. I loaded a live cd, mounted the installed ubuntu partion (sda6) as /mnt/ and windows boot partition as /mnt/boot Following the second option here: http://ubuntuguide.net/how-to-restore-grub-2-after-reinstalling-windows-xpvistawin7 Through its entirety, so creating a new grub.cfg file. chroot /mnt update-grub Did not find ubuntu, just windows 7 and the windows recovery partition. Thinking this might be a weird quirk that as I was in ubuntu (all be it a live cd) it might not list ubuntu I restarted. Grub loaded but ubuntu was nowhere to be seen. How can I add ubuntu with Grub2? I could have fixed this myself in old grub but I'm pretty much in the dark here. Thanks

• Find out if there is a local user logged in when logging in over ssh

  I need to run some calculations on a machine that I can only access remotely but also serves as a work station. There are many of them and I want to pick a "free" one. Free means in this case that no one is logged in locally. My first try was the who command, but for some reason it only lists "selected" users and I can't really find out how they are selected. Next try: ps aux | cut -d " " -f1 | sort | uniq: better showing a bunch of demons but also the local user that was not displayed by who. My current solution is to go in and do ps aux | grep "gnome-session" which is better but still gives me a lot of junk. Ideally I am looking for something that I can include in my ssh profile that warns me about (active) local users when I log in.

I got several different types of not-booting until now. All without significant error messages. Now that I'm running out of ideas I thought maybe one of you is able to find my mistake. • Ways to find a tutor for 1st year University student

  I tried searching here (and SO) without much luck. I also stared at the yellow box to the right and think this question is relatively on topic and can be answered. A co-worker asked me if I had any suggestions for how to find a tutor for his son. In this specific case, it was for Eclipse and Java, but it got me thinking about good general strategies one could use in situations like this. He preferred a local 1-to-1, but I suppose online might be a reasonable (or perhaps more likely) alternative. Any suggested strategies?

  I'm making a thing that launches projectiles in 2D. Its projectiles are fired with a set initial velocity, and are only affected by gravity. Assuming that its target is within range, and that there aren't any obstacles, how would my thing find the appropriate angle at which to launch its projectile (in radians)? The equation for this is found here: Wikipedia: Angle Required to Hit Coordinate Sadly, I'm not a physicist (a.k.a. can't read smart people math) and am having a hard time reading its breakdown. • Grub errors during UEFI dual boot for Windows 8 (can't find command 'drivemap')

  I have got a newly bought ASUS N56V with Windows 8 preinstalled. I needed to install Ubuntu so i partitioned the disk and after having disabled the Secure Boot option from Windows 8 i successfully installed Ubuntu 12.10 from a Live USB. The problem is that if i try to access both to Windows 8 (loader) and Windows Recovery System (loader) from the GRUB menu, these two errors show: can't find command 'drivemap' and invalid EFI file path and it goes back to the grub menu. In conclusion I do not have access to my Windows 8 partition but can only use Ubuntu. How can I solve the problem? I am pretty new to the matter. Thank you!

• Cann't find shared folder anymore

  I use VMware Fusion under Mac, and I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7 as virtual machine. Under Ubuntu, by "shared folder", I used to manage a common folder with Mac via /mnt/hgfs/myfolder. Under Windows, I have set up so that this folder is also accessible. But today I cann't find myfolder anymore under /mnt/hgfs in Ubuntu, while it is still accessible via Windows (and Mac of cause). I tried to restart the machine, reset the sharing settings, it still does not work. Could anyone help?

  Noob here. OK, I 1 Open the Dash. 2 Type "file". An app appears, called "files", icon looks like ta 2-drawer file cabinet. I click that, the app opens 3: I click the "Search button". I type the file name in the box and hit Enter. 4: The program thinks for a while, then displays a result. Great! the program found the file I was ilooking for! IT knows where myfile.foo is, BUT I DON'T! IT DOESN'T F%*%#ING SAY WHERE IT IS!!!! How do I find out where it is, please? I hate to say this, but is there an app that works like Windows Explorer (but doesn't crash every 2 minutes)?

  Does anyone know a way to perform the following: I want to know whenever a new domain starts appearing in the google search results for a particular query. For a given google search query, I'd like to receive an alert whenever a new domain pops up and starts appearing in the search results for that query. Alternatively, it would be great if you could just sort google search results by the age of the domain, making it easy to find new sites. As far as I can tell you can only sort by when the page was "last updated". Is something like this possible? EDIT: Following John's suggestion of Google Alerts. The problem with Google Alerts is that it sends you any new PAGES appearing in the search results, not just new DOMAINS.

  I am working on a project where we would like to have build a web interface that gives the user the ability to "Google" files in a directory in a remote machine. For example, the user would type a string in a box, and then the system would find all files that contain that string and present them in the browser. The system would then give the user the ability click on any of the files to open them/display them in the browser. • Can't find my DVD drive in Ubuntu 12.04

  I am completely new to Linux, due to some problems in my Windows I decided to give Linux a try. I am quite liking it accept for some minor issues. The biggest of them is that I cannot find my DVD drive in Ubuntu. After I insert the disk, the drive's green light flickers and then nothing. I don't get anything on my unity bar or desktop. There is no folder inside my /dev folder which indicates a dvd drive. There is a cdrom folder in my root folder but nothing is there. If you guys know what's wrong, I'd appreciate the help. Am a complete newbie so don't expect me to know anything about Ubuntu, although I have spent lots of hours in last 2 days googling my issue so I have basic information...
