• Trigger events from Firefox browser extension?

    - by Alex
Hello, I want to trigger events from a firefox extension, specifically click events. I've tried jQuery's .click() as well as the whole: var evt = document.createEvent("HTMLEvents"); evt.initEvent("click", true, false ); toClick[0].dispatchEvent(evt); This is not working for me, and I was wondering if this is even possible? (to trigger events from a firefox extension)? If so, how does one do it?

  • How to add a MIME handler to Firefox and Internet Explorer from an installer

    - by JustSmith
I'm looking to create an installer that will add a handler for a MIME type in Firefox and Explorer. The installer I will be using will be either INNO (a.k.a Oh Nooo!) or NSIS. How do Mozilla and Microsoft recommend adding a handler. So far all I have been able to find for Firefox is how to Add/Remove/Augment manually which no matter how simple is something I would like to hide from the user.

  • Unzipping zip archives with JavaScript in Firefox 3.6

    - by August Lilleaas
I am toying with an application that will demo some Firefox 3.6 specific functionality, most of which are listed here: http://demos.hacks.mozilla.org/openweb/ I want to drag a zip file in the browser, unzip it, and work with the unzipped contents. Are there any existing libraries that can do this? Does FireFox 3.6 in particular have something I can use? Or would I have to roll my own unzipper library? For the record: http://github.com/augustl/js-unzip

  • Location of Firefox throbber/spinner image

    - by Premasagar
I'm trying to locate the "throbber" (or "spinner") image used in the Firefox 3.6x chrome to show that a request is being processed: I'm not familiar with the source code structure for Firefox, and a simple search hasn't yielded the answer. Does anyone know which file I'm looking for? (E.g. can you provide a link to the file in the Mercurial repository, or tell me how to find it?).

  • How to change Firefox icon?

    - by Cédric Girard
Is there any way to change Firefox system icon (the one on the left top of the window)? Precision : I want to change the icon of a bundled version of Firefox with apache/php and my application. So manual operation on each computer is not a solution. I try Resource Hacker and it's the good solution. The add ons one is good too.

  • Can I convert an existing Firefox installation to ESR without a re-install?

    - by Iszi
It took some jumping through hoops (including a mailing list subscription that I apparently didn't need) but I finally found where to download the Firefox ESR. This is great for fresh installs, but I was wondering if there's a way to simply convert existing installations to the ESR configuration without having to do a full install. As I understand it, the only difference between ESR and regular Firefox will be how they receive updates. After the new standard version of Firefox comes out, ESR releases will only receive critical security updates and bug fixes for the remainder of their support life. Newer versions of Firefox's standard build will have all the latest and greatest features, while ESR releases are meant to provide stability for environments that can't be expected to keep up with a new full version number change as often as Mozilla does them. In regular Firefox, the About screen shows that I am using the "release" update channel. Is switching to ESR really just a matter of switching the update channel? I presume this can be done in about:config by changing app.update.channel and probably also app.update.url. However, I don't know what these values should be for ESR or if anything else should be tweaked. So, is it possible to switch to ESR without a reinstall and, if so, how? (Note: While this question was written originally for Firefox 10, I expect any answers will apply to future ESR versions as well.)

  • How do I make a firefox extension execute script on page open/load? [migrated]

    - by Will Mc
Thanks in advance! I am creating my first extension (A firefox extension). See below for full description of final product. I need help starting off. I have looked and studied the HelloWorld.xpi example found on Mozilla's site so I am happy to edit that to learn. In the example, when you click a menu item it runs script to display an alert message. My question is, how would I edit this extension to run the script on page load? I am guessing I need to insert some code in the browserOverlay as it loads on page load so, here is the browserOverlay.xpi from the example I am editing to learn: <overlay id="xulschoolhello-browser-overlay" xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul">

   Crash Firefox

Interestingly, if I do a getElementById, it works fine. Interesting, but not particularly helpful in my situation since I'm storing pointers to SVGDocuments. Example: function doesntCrash( ) { var svg = document.getElementById( "mySVG" ); var e = document.createElementNS( "http://www.w3.org/2000/svg", "svg" ); svg.appendChild( e ); } As far as I can tell, this is a Firefox bug. Does anyone have any insight into this matter?

  • Computed width with decimal values in Firefox, but without decimals in Webkit

    - by jävi
Hello one more time! I have a strange problem working with HTML,CSS in different browsers: Firefox 3.6 and Webkit browsers (Chrome & Safari). My HTML looks like this:
ALL A B C
And my CSS is... .ln-letters a { font-family: 'Lucida Grande'; font-size:14px; display:block; float:left; padding:0px 7px; border-left:1px solid silver; border-right:none; text-decoration:none; } So as you can guess, each anchor gets a different width depending on its inner text. For example the first element with the text 'ALL' will be bigger (more width) than the others. Now the problem is that in Firefox (using Firebug) I can see that the computed width for the first element is 26.5667px, while in Chrome (using Chrome's developer tools) the computed width for the same element is exactly 27px. Therefore the div.ln-letters ends with different widths in each browser and that is causing me some troubles. Question is: there is any workaround to avoid Firefox computing decimal values? Or the opposite: to force Chrome to compute decimal values? Thank you in advance!

  • Link to RSS/Atom feed, relative, doesn't work in Firefox

    - by Adrian Smith
I have a weird problem. I generate a HTML page, hosted let's say at http://www.x.com/stuff which contains

..
The result is: In IE7 all works well - you can click on the feed icon in the browser and the feed is displayed In Firefox, view source, click on the linked /stuff/feed and you see the source of the feed, so that works as expected In Firefox, view the page (not source), then click on the feed icon in the address bar, I get an error that it can't retrieve the URL feed://http//www.x.com/stuff/feed So the problem is, that it's appending feed:// to the front of the URL and then taking out the colon : after the http. I understand that feed: is HTTP anyway so perhaps the adding of that isn't a big problem. But anyway, the fact is, that URL Firefox generates out of my
tag doesn't work. I have considered making the URL absolute, but I haven't found any evidence that those URLs have to be absolute, nor can I understand why that would be the case. And for various reasons it would be inconvenient in my code to generate an absolute URL. I can do it if necessary but I would prefer to see proof (e.g. specification, or Mozilla bug report) that it's necessary before making my code messy What do you think? Does anyone know of any evidence that the URL should be absolute? Or am I doing something else wrong? It seems such a simple/obvious tag, where nothing could go wrong, but I can't get it to work.

  • Can't play wav file from Javascript in Firefox for Mac

    - by Mike Royle
I have the following html file that plays a wav file when the user hovers over the 'Play' anchor tag. It works perfectly on IE, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari on both Windows and Mac - except for Firefox on the Mac which does not play the file.

  Play

If the autostart attribute of the embed tag is set to true then the wav file plays as expected in Firefox for Mac, but not on the mouseover of the anchor tag. Any ideas?

  • No right-click event Firefox 3.6

    - by cdmckay
I'm in the process of porting an app to JavaScript/CSS and it uses right-click. For some reason Firefox 3.6 for Windows isn't issuing a right-click event, but Chrome and IE do. Here's some test code. If you right-click #test then you get nothing in Firefox but you get an alert under Chrome and IE.

Hi

Hi

Why isn't the right-click event being generated in Firefox?

  • Problem in loading Iframe in FireFox!

    - by maddy
Hello all, I'm trying to load an aspx page using Iframe in VB.net. I'm trying to set the source of Iframe with the help of Ext (JavaScript). My aspx code:
< iframe id="pane" name="pane" src="Empty.aspx" frameborder="0" >
My Javascript code: Pane = function() { var pane; return { init: function() { if (!document.body) { return; } pane = Ext.get('pane'); if ( something ) { this.load(); } else { this.navigateTo('Page.aspx?id=' + a.ID); } }, load: function() { pane.dom.src = 'HTTPURL'; }, navigateTo: function(url) { var agt = navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase(); if (agt.indexOf("firefox") != -1) { document.getElementById('pane').src = url; } else { pane.dom.src = url; } } }; } (); This works fine with IE and Iframe gets loaded with page.aspx every time the parent page is requested. But with FireFox it doesn't. With FireFox the src attribute remains "Empty.aspx" when the page is loaded but when I refresh the page i.e. in post back event the src attribute changes to "page.aspx?id=a.id" and iframe gets loaded properly. Has anyone faced such kind of problem before? If you know the solution please help me, it's killing me big. Thanks in advance. Maddy.

  • Loading Jscript files into Firefox extension

    - by colon3l
Hi ! Let's get directly to the problem : I'm actually doing a firefox extension in which i would like to implement the jWebsocket API in order to build a small chat. I got my main script file, named test.js, and the jWebsocket lib into a js folder. Just for you to know, this is my first firefox extension ever. So in my XUL file I got this (for the script part only of course, the interface code is not shown) : <overlay id="test-overlay" xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"> test I have several buttons with option 1 options. I want to fix strange submiting a form in FireFox. Help please!

  • Search Box/Transition won't work in Firefox

    - by user2522488
    I disabled the search box on IE, because IE kept centering it over the navigation. It works in Chrome, I'm not sure about opera (and I'm not sure if I care) but it won't work in Firefox. The ease-out timing works in Firefox, but nothing else really works. I've tried other things to work around the issue, but every time I try something different, the search box's positioning gets thrown off. If you look at it in Firefox, it looks fine-- until you click on it to search. http://kissoff.weebly.com/ You can see what the search box is supposed to do if you look at it and click on it in Chrome. I'm sure the positioning is off, I'm not sure (I'm new to css). Any help is appreciated. #search {} #search input[type="text"] { background: url(search-white.png) no-repeat 10px 6px #fcfcfc; border: 1px solid #d1d1d1; position: fixed; margin-left: 350px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; color: #bebebe; width: 150px; padding: 6px 15px 6px 35px; -webkit-border-radius: 20px; -moz-border-radius: 20px; border-radius: 20px; text-shadow: 0 2px 3px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.1); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 3px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.15) inset; -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 3px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.15) inset; box-shadow: 0 1px 3px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.15) inset; -webkit-transition: all 0.7s ease 0s; -moz-transition: all 0.7s ease 0s; -o-transition: all 0.7s ease 0s; transition: all 0.7s ease 0s; float: right; } #search input[type="text"]:focus { width: 200px; }
