  Hi, I am new to PL/SQL, I'm trying to execute the commands that I learned at the course. VARIABLE area NUMBER DECLARE radius NUMBER(2) := &s_radius; pi CONSTANT NUMBER := 3.14; BEGIN :area := pi * radius * radius; END; I understand that I can run this using SqlPlus, but I remember my teacher was running this from the web browser using Application Express. I try to run the same commands there, at HOME SQLSQL Commands, but I keep getting the error "ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement" . Can you help me run it in Application Express or point me to a way where I can use an editor to run these course exercises? Thanks!

So, here is what I am using: $ perl -e 'require "scrpt.pl"; loadConfigFile(); GetVariable("My Variable")' This works exactly as expected, but I need to read the XML file every time I am getting a variable. Is there a way I could "preserve" $data across shell calls? The idea is that I read the XML file only once. If no, is there is a more simple way I could do this? I folowed this adminlife.net/allgemein/mssql-zugriff-unter-debian-etch-mit-unixodbc-und-freetds/ or this http://b.gil.megiteam.pl/2009/11/linux-odbc-to-mssql/ But it didnt work, the port 1433 seems to be closed ($ sudo nmap -PN -sU -p 1433 192.168.56.101 - port "filtered") isql -v sqlexpress sa - wait with no response or get "couldn't connect to sql" From other PC with Windows I have no problem to write data in SQL Server, so server should be right configured to remote access. any idea?

The tables are labeled MESSAGE_LOG_YYYYMMDD Currently i want to sequentially execute the same QUERY against all those tables. I wrote the PL/SQL below, but got stuck at line 10. How can i execute the SQL statement against successfully against all tables here ? • Making self-logging modules with Log::Log4perl

  Is there a way to use Log::Log4perl to make a smart self-logging module that logs its operations to a file even in the absence of the calling script not initializing Log4perl? As far as I can tell from the documentation, the only way to use Log4perl is to initialize it in the running script from a configuration, then modules implementing Log4perl calls log themselves based on the caller's Log4perl config. Instead, I'd like the modules to provide a default initialization config for Log4perl. This would provide the default file appender for the module's category. Then, I could override this behavior by initing Log4perl in the caller with a different config if needed, and everything would hopefully just work. Is this sort of defensive logging behavior possible or am I going to need to rely on initing Log4perl in every .pl script that calls the module I want logged?

  Hello, I have an SQL-table holding the last hands received by a player in card game. The hand is represented by an integer (32 bits == 32 cards): create table pref_hand ( id varchar(32) references pref_users, hand integer not NULL check (hand > 0), stamp timestamp default current_timestamp ); As the players are playing constantly and that data isn't important (just a gimmick to be displayed at player profile pages) and I don't want my database to grow too quickly, I'd like to keep only up to 10 records per player id. So I'm trying to declare this PL/PgSQL procedure: create or replace function pref_update_game(_id varchar, _hand integer) returns void as $BODY$ begin delete from pref_hand offset 10 where id=_id order by stamp; insert into pref_hand (id, hand) values (_id, _hand); end; $BODY$ language plpgsql; but unfortunately this fails with: ERROR: syntax error at or near "offset" because delete doesn't support offset. • how do I filter RoutingErrors and their long stack trace out of my log? rails

  I am seeing several strange requests like this, with urls like /sitemap/, /google_sitemap.xml.gz, /sitemap.xml.gz, /google_sitemap.xml, /cgi-bin/awstat/awstats.pl, etc. The default rails behavior dumps these long stack traces into my log, like the following: ActionController::RoutingError (No route matches "/rails/info/properties" with {:method=>:get}): /dh/passenger/lib/phusion_passenger/rack/request_handler.rb:92:in `process_request' /dh/passenger/lib/phusion_passenger/abstract_request_handler.rb:207:in `main_loop' /dh/passenger/lib/phusion_passenger/railz/application_spawner.rb:400:in `start_request_handler' /dh/passenger/lib/phusion_passenger/railz/application_spawner.rb:351:in `handle_spawn_application' /dh/passenger/lib/phusion_passenger/utils.rb:184:in `safe_fork' etc. Is there any way to stop these long stack traces? I wouldn't mind the first line, the ActionController::RoutingError with the message and the url, but I'd like to get rid of the long stack of passenger stuff.

  On php page in a form, One combo box has list of my Customer from mysql table customer. Another combo box has invoiceno stored in invoice table which has respective customer records. I want to select customer from first combo box and filter invoiceno from the second one according to the customer. Any one help me for php or java or Jquery or both codeings? Means if I select customer1 then in the second combo box should show all invoiceno respective to the custermer1. No Refresh or ReLoad or Post form Pl.   I am trying to create something in Perl that is basically like the Unix "tee" command. I'm trying to read each line of STDIN, run a substitution on it, and print it. (And eventually, also print it to a file.) This works if I'm using console input, but if I try to pipe input to the command it doesn't do anything. Here's a simple example: print "about to loop\n"; while(<STDIN>) { s/2010/2009/; print; } print "done!\n"; I try to pipe the dir command to it like this: C:\perltestdir | mytee.pl about to loop done! Why is it not seeing the piped input?

I am fetching that xml with curl and storing on my server. • Prompts for windows authentication when viewing a page in Web site

  Hello All, When i try to view a PARTICULAR page in my web site, it prompts for user name and password. Irrespective of providing proper user name/password and clicking OK or directly clicking Cancel button, the page is getting loaded properly. I am not sure why the authentication screen appears!!! It happens only for that particular page. Initially I thought it could be with file permission but copy pasted another page (which works fine) and renaming it doesn't solve the problem. Thoughts pl. EDIT I copied the source from the browser for that particular page and saved it as HTML. When i try to open the HTML file, it prompts for authentication.

I am aware that there is a certain enum (OracleDbType) that contains the Oracle data types, but I am not sure which one to use for certain types. Questions: What is the equivalent Oracle PL/SQL data type for each enumerated type in the OracleDbType enumeration? • Getting Oracle Exception: ORA-1017: invalid username/password; logon denied

  I have tried so many thing but i can't resolve that Error. I can connect with my username and password to: Database in SQLDeveloper, in SQL-Plus, in Server-Explorer (Visual Studio 2008) and all works fine. But if i Compile my Project i get that Error. Why is that? I tried to set case_sensitive to false, but the same error appears. I dont know what else to do. • Processing XML file with Huge data

  Hi,be m I am working on an application which has below requiements - 1. Download a ZIP file from a server. 2. Uncompress the ZIP file, get the content (which is in XML format) from this file into a String. 3. Pass this content into another method for parsing and further processing. Now, my concerns here is the XML file may be of Huge size say like '100MB', and my JVM has memory of only 512 MB, so how can I get this content into Chunks and pass for Parsing and then insert the data into PL/SQL tables. Since there can be multiple requests running at the same time and considering 512MB of memory what will be the best possible to process this. How I can get the data into Chunks and pass it as Stream for XML parsing. I googled on this, but didnt find any implementation. :( Thanks,

  Hello, I have a "database solution" project in VS2008 - it generates SQL for more than one DB vendor from some sort of templates. In order to save time, I also have a tool in VS2008 configured (a Python script), which can compile an individual stored procedure. Now, with the Python script I have the freedom of processing the output and have it take on whatever form I want. I am toying with an idea of having these errors and warnings somehow recognized and populating the click-able Error / Warning list. This is what a typical Oracle error looks like: LINE/COL ERROR -------- ----------------------------------------------------------------- 324/5 PL/SQL: Statement ignored 324/82 PLS-00363: expression 'VSOURCE_SYSTEM_ID' cannot be used as an assignment target Warning: Procedure created with compilation errors. PROCEDURE: ADD_PROPOSED error on creation Errors for PROCEDURE ADD_PROPOSED: LINE/COL ERROR This might be a long shot, but it is worthwhile for me. I do this stuff a lot. Thank you!

Why then, does Page-Speed say that Compressing the following resources with gzip could reduce their transfer size by 118.8KiB (70% reduction). and it gives the page an overall score of 33/100?

  Hi, I used csv2xls.pl to convert a text log into .xls file, and then apply create chart function as following: my $chart3 = $workbook-add_chart( type = 'line' , embedded = 1); Configure the series. $chart3-add_series( categories = '=Sheet1!$B$2:$B$64', values = '=Sheet1!$C$2:$C$64', name = 'Test data series 1', ); Add some labels. $chart3-set_title( name = 'Bridge Rate Analysis' ); $chart3-set_x_axis( name = 'Packet Size ' ); $chart3-set_y_axis( name = 'BVI Rate' ); Insert the chart into the main worksheet. $worksheet-insert_chart( 'G2', $chart3 ); ========== I can see the chart in .xls file, however, all the data is in text format, not number, therefore, the chart looks wrong. I am wondering can you tell me how to convert text into number before apply this create chart function? One other thing is any idea how to apply sorting on the .xls file before create chart? Thanks.   I have a large Prolog program with lots of predicates. I need to connect to this Prolog code from C++ (VS2008) to obtain certain query results. So I am not trying to embed Prolog in C++ as a logicasl engine, but for my C++ program to connect to my Prolog code, consult (compile) it, obtain query results, and pass them back to C++. Running the following command at the VS2008 Command Prompt generates so many errors: plld -o myprog.exe mycpp.cpp mypl.pl Is there any way I can get my C++ program to consult my Prolog program, by including a command or makefile, etc...? I am aware that if you use VS2008, you are better off not using plld, so I am trying to include everything in one master C++ program, then press F5 to build and compile, and then call Prolog, then C++, and so on... • How to find foreign-key dependencies pointing to one record in Oracle?

  Hi folks, I have a very large Oracle database, with many many tables and millions of rows. I need to delete one of them, but want to make sure that dropping it will not break any other dependent rows that point to it as a foreign key record. Is there a way to get a list of all the other records, or at least table schemas, that point to this row? I know that I could just try to delete it myself, and catch the exception, but I won't be running the script myself and need it to run clean the first time through. I have the tools SQL Developer from Oracle, and PL/SQL Developer from AllRoundAutomations at my disposal. Thanks in advance!
