• Silent install of Office 2010 w/Visio and Project

  Is there a way to silent install Office 2010 Pro Plus with Visio 2010 Premium and Project 2010 Pro all at the same time? I've configured the msp's for each individual product and when I have the install directories all in the same folder, running setup.exe brings up a dialog asking me to choose which product to install. I want it to automatically install all three products as soon as setup.exe is launched. Any ideas?

  We are running Exchange 2007 with a mix of Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007. Is it possible to set the Out of Office Assistant so that when OoO is enabled, it sends a reply to every single email the user receives? Also, is there something I can reference that covers the options for OoO such as length of time between replies, etc.? Thanks!

  I'm using a startup script to deploy Microsoft Office 2007 Standard. It's not working quite right and I'm trying to find logging information for it. Unfortunately, no log is being generated by setup. I've tried configuring the log at %temp%\, C:\, %systemroot%\temp and leaving it at defaults, all to no avail. Nothing is showing up in the event logs, either. Is there anywhere else I can go to look for information on what's going on with the installer?

• Can't install SQL Express 2008R2- caspol.exe application error - the application failed to initialize

  I'm trying to install SQL Server Express 2008 R2 on Windows 2003 Server (enterprise edition). I get the following error message: Title: caspol.exe - Application Error Text: The application failed to initialize properly (0x000007b), Click on OK to terminate the application. I get the same error message both when downloading the installer and running it and when using the web platform installer. All the pages on the internet I've found about similar problem say it's a corrupt .net installation issue - This server runs multiple .net apps and I've never had any problems with any of them. I've uninstalled and reinstalled .net (causing a painful outage) and nothing changed. Does anyone here has any idea what might cause this? Update 1: additional information I forgot to include: 32bit version of Windows running in a virtual machine, no anti virus Update 2: when running caspol.exe from the command line I get the same error

• sqlsrv not showing up in my phpinfo

  I have just installed php 5.3 on windows server 2008 R2 running IIS7. phpinfo() is working fine. now I want to see if I have correctly installed the Microsoft Drivers for PHP for SQL Server. I downloaded from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=80E44913-24B4-4113-8807-CAAE6CF2CA05#RelatedResources I have dropped the 2 dlls (php_pdo_sqlsrv_53_nts_vc9.dll and php_sqlsrv_53_nts_vc9.dll) into the PHP\ext folder and referenced them in the php.ini I restarted the server. But when I run phpinfo() I'm not seeing any reference to sqlsrv is that normal? or should there also be a section of phpinfo() dedicated to these sqlsrv extensions? Error logging is on but there are no errors coming up in the php-errors.log referring to sqlsrv. Both files php_pdo_sqlsrv_53_nts_vc9.dll and php_sqlsrv_53_nts_vc9.dll have been added (non thread safe version for IIS), php5.dll is present in the php install folder. Thanks for any pointers.

• Why might login failures cause SQL 2005 to dump and ditch?

  Our SQL 2005 server began timing out and finally stopped responding on Oct 26th. The application logs showed a ton of 17883 events leading up to a reboot. After the reboot everything was fine but we were still scratching our heads. Fast forward 6 days... it happened again. Then again 2 days later. The last night. Today it has happened three times to far. The timeline is fairly predictable when it happens: Trans log backups. Login failure for "user2". Minidump Another minidump for the scheduler Repeated 17883 events. Server fails little by little until it won't accept any requests. Reboot is all that gets us going again (a band-aid) Interesting, though, is that the server box itself doesn't seem to have any problems. CPU usage is normal. Network connectivity is fine. We can remote in and look at logs. Management studio does eventually bog down, though. Today, for the first time, we tried stopping services instead of a reboot. All services stopped on their own except for the SQL Server service. We finally did an "end task" on that one and were able to bring everything back up. It worked fine for about 30 minutes until we started seeing timeouts and 17883's again. This time, probably because we didn't reboot all the way, we saw a bunch of 844 events mixed in with the 17883's. Our entire tech team here is scratching heads... some ideas we're kicking around: MS Cumulative Update hit around the same time as when we first had a problem. Since then, we've rolled it back. Maybe it didn't rollback all the way. The situation looks and feels like an unhandled "stack overflow" (no relation) in that it starts small and compounds over time. Problem with this is that there isn't significant CPU usage. At any rate, we're not ruling SQL 2005 bug out at all. Maybe we added one too many import processes and have reached our limit on this box. (hard to believe). Looking at SQLDUMP0151.log at the time of one of the crashes. There are some "login failures" and then there are two stack dumps. 1st a normal stack dump, 2nd for a scheduler dump. • What is the best way to code the XNA Game Server for FPS game?

  I'm writing a FPS XNA game. It gonna be multiplayer so I came up with following: I'm making two different assemblies — one for the game logic and the second for drawing it and the game irrelevant stuff (like rocket trails). The type of the connection is client-server (not peer-to-peer), so every client at first connects to the server and then the game begins. I'm completly decided to use XNA.Framework.Game class for the clients to run their game in window (or fullscreen) and the GameComponent/DrawableGameComponent classes to store the game objects and update&draw them on each frame. Next, I want to get the answer to the question: What should I do on the server side? I got few options: Create my own Game class on the server, which will process all the game logic (only, no graphics). The reason why I am not using the standart Game class is when I call Game.Run() the white window appears and I cant figure out how to get rid of it. Use somehow the original XNA's Game class, which is already has the GameComponent collection and Update event (60 times per second, just what I need). UPDATE: I got more questions: First, what socket mode should I use? TCP or UDP? And how to actually let the client know that this packet is meant to be processed after that one? Second, if I is going to use exacly GameComponent class for the game objects which is stored and process on the server, how to make them to be drawn on the client? Inherit them (while they are combined to an assembly)? Something else?

• Microsoft Office "Read-only" warning not appearing on Samba shares on Mac OS X Server

  Hi, some of my users don't get the "read-only" warning (but "read-only" does appear on the title bar and the document is indeed opened read-only) when opening Office 2007 documents already opened by another user. We run the samba share off an XSan volume under Mac OS X 10.5.8 Server. Strict locking is on but oplocks are off (from Server Admin). At home, with a simple samba share in 10.6.3 server, it works correctly. Any ideas? or is this a 10.5.8 behavior?

  I wanted to reinstall Office 2003 Pro. I retrieved the key with NirSoft ProduKey, confirmed with Jelly Bean Windows Key Finder and the key is the same. I've tried 3 different Office 2003 PRO CD's and it still won't install because it's saying key is bad, i even tried with different key from other computer and it also won't install.   The error when trying to open MS Office is that there is no file association & another error when trying to open individual progs is - side bt side configuration is incorrect. The suite has been working perfectly until last week ( no significant changes to system ) I have tried downloading the VC++ & uninstalled & reinstalled twice, even deleted the registry entry for office 2010 before reinstall but have had no success.
