• Nginx with postfix not sending mail - from address appearing wrong

  I am using a php form to send email. The script reports success, but the mail never arrives. • Can't bind spawn-fcgi to address

  Following some nice instructions I am almost through setting up PHP to run on nginx.   hi there i am running server 2003, and seem to have this problem where the server starts kicking out users after a while, especially when they log off, they cant log back in, or the printers on the metwork stop connecting and they cant print to it. when i check the server, i notice that the server has 2 IP addresses, even though it has a static IP, it seems to pick up another IP address as well, but when you go into teh IPV set up, its not there, but of you run the IP scan utility tool, it picks it up. to correct this, i either can log off the server, then log back in, and the IP disappears, or sometimes this doesnt work, and i need to restart the server, but thsi happens like every 2 days or so.....can anyone out there help?

  I have set up a local domain on my Apache server. Then I added the following line in my /etc/hosts file ::1 exampledomain.local After I trying to navigate to it, (I tried Firefox and Chromium) I got a server not found error. Then I tried ping6 and it worked: dan@danny:~$ ping6 exampledomain.local PING exampledomain.local(exampledomain.local) 56 data bytes 64 bytes from exampledomain.local: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.032 ms If I replace ::1 with 127.0.0.1 in my hosts file, it works fine. • Adding IP address to OpenVZ VPS (OpenVZ Web Panel)

  I apologise if I sound at all dumb. This is my first dedicated server having used a VPS for over a year and I'm trying to setup a VPS on this new server. I purchased a subnet from my hosting provider that I believe allows me 6 usable IP addresses: 177.xx.xxx.201 - 177.xx.xxx.206 The subnet address looks like this: 177.xx.xxx.200/29. I've gone on my server and added them like it said on a wiki like so: ip addr add 177.**.***.201/29 dev eth0 I done that for all six and now when I go to them in the browser they point to my server. The problem is, I'm using OpenVZ web panel to create VMs (http://code.google.com/p/ovz-web-panel/) so I created a VM and assigned one of those IPs to it. However when SSHing to that IP it SSH's to the dedicated server and not the VM. Am I missing something?

• How do I delete the Windows Explorer address bar history

  Note: I am NOT referring to Internet Explorer. I am using Windows XP and Windows Server 2008 and need to delete the history values from the file browser (aka Windows Explorer). Somebody put a password into the address bar as ftp://user:pass, and now I can't delete the value. Some forums say to delete this registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\TypedPaths In Windows XP, the key doesn't exist, and in Windows Server 2008, the key is there, but deleting it doesn't seem to help. Any help?

• Website running on Tomcat port 8443 will only resolve with IP address, not dns

  I recently set up a web server running tomcat 7 on Ubuntu 12.04. It is currently running on port 8080, however I just enabled SSL on port 8443. Here's my problem: For port 8080, the website is resolved with DNS: (http://www.mywebpage.com:8080) For port 8443, I can only access the website with the IP Address (http://0.0.0.0:8443). It will not work if I use the DNS name. I ultimately want to disable port 80 and use port 8443 only. Does anyone know why I cannot resolve the website on port 8443 using DNS, and how I might fix it?   When sending out emails with postfix I sometimes get this error: 451 #4.1.8 Domain of sender address <[email protected]> does not resolve (in reply to MAIL FROM command) The domain mydomain.tld is resolvable though, meaning A, MX, PTR records are set properly. However, the sending server does have a different domain anotherdomain.tld but it is allowed to send emails from mydomain.tld since I set the MX records of mydomain.tld to anotherdomain.tld. The envelope from of the problematic emails is [email protected]. Is there some other dns entry I have to set? Or how else could I solve the problem? (I would like to keep the server structure though)

  I am building a small service where users will be assigned a subdomain such as: myusername.myservice.com anotheruser.myservice.com I know that I can set up a wildcard vhost and using some configuration regex, serve the files like so: myusername.myservice.com ===> /var/www/myusername anotherusername.myservice.com ===> /var/www/anotherusername The problem is that I would like to allow users to alias their own domain names to their service. I understand that for the webserver, once the user adds the domain via my web interface, I can easily create a vhost for the domain in nginx and then refresh the webserver. The problem is that I would prefer to NOT let the users add an A record of my webserver's IP address as I would prefer to keep things flexible (when we upgrade our infrastructure to something more complex to scale). What is the best way to achieve this?

• Windows 2008 Incoming Connection: Where/How is Server IPv4 address defined

  We're evaluating a VM hosted externally which runs Windows Server 2008 R2 Web Server Edition and wish to access it via a VPN connection for maintenance and administration. RRAS isn't included in Web Server Edition, but it does have a form of VPN server called "Incoming Connections". This appears to work well and even supports multiple simultaneous connections. As we'll be using this VPN regularly we'd like to know if this is a viable solution or if we'd be better off upgrading to Standard Edition and full-fledged RRAS. In particular we're accessing the VM via the Private IP given by the Incoming Connection (currently 169.254.135.207) so we'd like know: if the server private IP might change every so often? if so is there any way to define it manually? or should we be using the server name rather than the private IP address? if so how can we be sure that it will resolve correctly? Name resolution over the "Incoming Connection" has worked on and off during our tests. Thanks for your help

• Firefox in popup window (no address search bar) ctrl-k navigates to google

  In firefox hitting Ctrl+K takes you to the search bar (all fine and good). However in my webmail client (Zimbra) it pops open windows without the address/search bar. Hitting Ctrl+K there (muscle memory from Outlook Web Access) navigates immediately to google.com - hitting back doesn't work from there (Zimbra's all screwed). Is there anyway to disable Ctrl+K navigating to the search provider without changing the normal Ctrl+K to the search-bar behaviour when the search-bar is present? Or better yet force it to actually pop up the search-bar - or highlight in my main browser window's search bar?

  I'm going to re-build a very old Lotus Notes infrastructure coming from 4.x towards 8.5. I'm trying to setup Domino so that all user names should be of a single string or the internet e-mail address. For example the user "John Smith/ACME" should be in the whole system jsmith or [email protected] . I still get jsmith/ACME all around. Where it is most annoying is in the NAB when creating a new message. Is there a way to get all addresses in uniform standard e-mail adress format at least in mail ? The mixup in the destination like "John Smith/ACME, [email protected]" confused the users.

• Sometimes my urls get masked with the IP address instead of the domain

  I have a server with one A record that points to my IP address. I have nginx with gunicorn as a prefork which goes to my django application For most of my pages, the URL is always my domain name in the url bar. However if I go to mydomain.com/admin the url magically transforms into x.x.x.x/admin in the url bar of my browser. I thought that was weird but I ignored it figuring it only happened for admin so it wasnt that big of a deal. Then I installed django-registration. So when I go to mydomain.com/accounts/register the url is still mydomain.com/accounts/register in the url bar. but when I submit a form, the POST request goes to x.x.x.x/accounts/register which creates a cross domain error. So I decided that it wasnt isolated to the admin and I really need to fix what is going on. I have no idea what is going on and am completely lost.

• JBoss thrown error looking up local address when starting

  Hello im installing a fresh Jboss 5.1 in a Centos 5.5 machine. I dont have Apache installed. So when I try to start jboss using the comand ./run.sh I get the following error 15:13:57,414 INFO [JMXKernel] Legacy JMX core initialized 15:14:03,856 ERROR [ServerInfo] Error looking up local address java.net.UnknownHostException: dhcppc1: dhcppc1 at java.net.InetAddress.getLocalHost(InetAddress.java:1354) at org.jboss.system.server.ServerInfo.getHostAddress(ServerInfo.java:364) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) .... After that i can run Jboss only from 127.0.0.1:8080 but using localhost:8080 doesnt work. I think its a centos configuration problem but im a total newbye managing ports and maybe firewalls, so what do you think could be the problem?

  Hello all, Recently, I could not access the webpage bbc.co.uk anymore, while I can access other websites smoothly. Ar first, I though there may be some problem with my laptop. However, if I use my laptop through my company network, I can load the page bbc.co.uk normally. Then, I though maybe my ADSL at home blocks that web address. However, I tried another laptop with my home ADSL and it can load the page bbc.co.uk very fast. Now I do not know what could be the problem. Can anyone tell me please? Thank you.

  In my setup there exist user1, ..., [email protected]. Mail for example.com is handled by Exchange 2010 and all the users user Outlook 2010. There also exists a Standard Distribution list named [email protected]. Is it possible to have some of the users being able to send email with [email protected] as the sender address? Can the sender's GECOS be different too when this happens so that the recipient sees "Offices of Example.com" instead of "User Name X"? Sometimes the secretaries need to send stuff as "the office" and not as theirselves ...

• Sending mail to local address crashes web server (sendmail)

  When trying to send mail automatically from a script at example.com via PHP's mail() to [email protected], the Apache server throws an Internal Error. I believe internally it is configured to use sendmail. The message gets dropped into ~/dead.letter and the general error log reads: [Wed May 12 11:26:45 2010] [error] [client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] malformed header from script. Bad header=/home/example/dead.letter... S: /home/example/www/test.php Trying any other address, not @example.com, works just fine. I have googled and serverfaulted for solutions, but they all require to edit configuration files in /etc/mail and similar system places, which is not an option, since this problem occurs on a shared host in which I only have access to ~/. Does anyone have a suggestion?

  I am working on designing a custom PCIexpress card. I am trying to write a kernel module that will DMA my custom card. Right now when i plug the card into linux no valid PCI device shows up (meaning I probably have a error on my end, i know) however, If I halt the system at startup in the bootloader (uboot) I am able to directly access the card as I know in uboot the physical memory address that is mapped to my device.   I have troubles to connect from macos to reach windows shares and I hit some general problem with my macos. When I try to telnet to 445 port to my windows share server the macos throws "Operation not permitted".   Hey all i am trying to figure this out here. I have 3 PC's that are hooked into my router which i have a static IP for. I am currently hosting a web site (ex: blah1.com) on the 1st PC but have yet to connect PC 2 and 3 up to the network. That one PC thats online is using port 77. I direct all 80 traffic to port 77 using that servers IP address (192.168.x.xxx) My question is, how can i direct traffic for my other 2 domains (ex: blah2.com and blah3.com) to the 2 individual PC's (ip's) as i already am doing with the 1st PC if i can only use one port 80 to direct taffic to the website in?

  The Situation When im staying at my girlfriends we both like to have internet access on our laptops but her accommodation don't allow wireless routers. My Question My question is if I set up an Ad-Hoc network to share the internet connection as shown here on How To Geek. Will my laptop be acting as a wireless router or will the connection all go through my laptop as one ip address so it appears to be my computer accessing the webpages etc, that my girlfriend actually is. i would be interested in knowing any additional information that could help sove this problem eg. if connectify would do what i want.

• Seeking webcam with own IP address

  I am not sure if this is the correct place to post, but I couldn't find anywhere better. I am looking for a webcam/movie cam and this site seems more addressed to still images, but ... I am looking for a small, rugged web-cam which can be hand-held or perhaps head-mounted (failing that I can settle for a tripod mount, but I need portability). It must have its own IP address so that anyone can view its video stream from a web browser. I would prefer 2 way voice communication too. Encryption of data is nice, as is compression (H.264). Maybe also remote control, like causing it to zoom from the browser. Does anyone have any suggestions, even suggestions of somewhere else to look? Thanks very much in advance.
