    The first line of text on all of our client's product pages is "Download hi-res images", which of course isn't what we'd want in the description when people search for their products. Is there any way to hide this text/link so that Google and the others just ignore it and go on into the text description below? I suppose we could use a meta-description, but the client isn't very good at computers and it's such a small site it seems silly.

    I've forgotten how to do this. In Windows, you can create a new text document "blah.txt" Inside blah, you can enter a url like http://kongregate.com Then.....??? I forget this step Then you change the file extension of the file to "blah.html" When you double click the file, it acts as a shortcut/hyperlink and takes you to the url you entered in the text file. Can someone tell me what the missing step it? There is something else I need to enter with the url, but I don't know what it is.

    I can get it to read the text file until it becomes a comma delimited text file. I would like to read the two variables on each line and test each one with a If statement for another condition.     I have a column which contains: € 53,28 € 1.336,0 € 69,90 € 296,50 € 899,00 € 149,90 € 697,40 and so on. I want to sum the column up, but for openoffice it is text and not a decimal. What I did: =SUBSTITUTE(F7,".","") to get rid of the the dot |€ 1336,0| =SUBSTITUTE(G7,"€","") to get rid of the euro symbol | 1336,0| =RIGHT(H7, LEN(H7)-1) to get rid of the blank |1336,0| =SUBSTITUTE(I7,",",".") to change the comma to dots |1336.0| and after that I copy the whole column and paste it as "unformatted text" only after these steps I get a number with which openoffice can work. Isn't there an easier way???

  • Facebook FQL - How do I fetch the posts I made to a friend's wall

    I have a facebook desktop app with some test users all having granted the stream_read & offline access permissions. I can easily retrieve posts to each users' stream & profile. What I cannot do easily is retrieve posts that a user has made to one of their friend's walls. In fact, this used to work with a rather complex multiquery, but has stopped working now, or is working only intermittently... Does anyone care to share their method if one exists or discuss what restrictions there might be to this type of complex querying?

    I am building a theme that has a lot of custom templates, like every page. Ridiculous, but for some reason the template I made for the "postings" page is not getting the posts? I have set the post page in reading preferences, and I have set the page to use my template, but it still publishes posts to a default template. Of all the customization I built into this I did not expect the blog part to give me trouble! lol Anyone run into this kind of thing? Thank you.

    Im trying to get all of my posts in a delicious account to an MySql DB. Since delicious exports xml I think it wont be too complicated, but being new to it I cant really make sense of the api... I believe I have to query it as so: https://api.del.icio.us/v1/posts/all? But one catch is that im using an yahoo id for that account which I need to do it as follows: "To access data from accounts created using a Yahoo! ID, use the same API's as below, but change the path to /v2, and make HTTP requests using OAuth as provided by the Yahoo! Developer Network." I cant understand how to do it, can someone please help. Thanks. EDIT Although I still have the same doubt I figured out I can export the whole thing from the settings in my account, now I just need to get the html export in a xml file :) Also the yahoo method for accessing data, really is no good.

    Could anyone please help me? I am at the last chance saloon and losing a lot of traffic. Any help would be greatfully received. After a year based on my permalink structure, all posts were in the root so have been picked up by Google as: snowmenu.com/postname Since changing my categories and permalink structure, I need the years worth of posts on Google to be redirected to: snowmenu.com/ski-snowboard-winter-sports-news/postname Is there a way to make this happen via .htaccess? By default the posts are sorted based on "created date". I have a new requirement from the client asking me to change the sorting criteria to "Published date". What is the easiest method to achieve this without using SharePoint Designer . Note: Creating a new view is not a solution as I will not be able to apply the customized design.

    I want to display my wordpress posts in a category in two divs. So for example: <div id="left"> POST 1 POST 3 POST 5 POST 7 </div> <div id="right" POST 2 POST 4 POST 6 POST 8 </div> So want I need to do is tell the query_posts to somehow start spitting out the first 4 posts oddly and then evenly for each div. I don't want to have two seperate WP_Queries as this is a category.php file and needs to have the default loop. Not quite sure how to do this. Any help much appreciated.

    I would like to have two streams. One being traditional streaming video and another being text. I will also build an interface that allows the user to create the text portion while watching the video. The context of these videos are usually that of an individual being filmed doing a presentation and later the next day for example, a coach will make text annotations (structured data is a plus) with the result being the text stream. It seems this is possible with Silverlight (see the article in the latest MSDN). However, what other methods are there if any? If there any, please give the reasons for why you are recommending them. Thanks. Also, I would prefer something that inst a software as a service hosted solution, but, dont let that keep you from giving an answer. Also keep in mind, the user shouldn't have to do any re-encoding of the video source, the text stream should be separate with someway to synchronize a coach's comments to an arbitrary time stamp in the video.

    Hey, i am coding a small php forum from scratch and would like to show readers what posts he hasnt read yet and what forum categories have unread posts since this visit, pretty much how phpbb or invision boards work. How do i approach this, cookies? phpbb doesnt seem to use cookies for this, not very a good idea do have a cookie for each post... maybe use css visited attribute? but i dont see how would that work if a new post pops up.     Hello all, I have been doing a bit of research on full-text searches as we realized a series of LIKE statements are terrible. My first find was MySQL full-text searches. I tried to implement this and it worked on one table, failed when I was trying to join multiple tables, and so I consulted stackoverflow's articles (look at the end for a list of the ones I've been to) I didn't see anything that clearly answered my questions. I'm trying to get this done literally in an hour or two (quick solution) but I also want to do a better long term solution. Here is my query: SELECT a.`product_id`, a.`name`, a.`slug`, a.`description`, b.`list_price`, b.`price`, c.`image`, c.`swatch`, e.`name` AS industry FROM `products` AS a LEFT JOIN `website_products` AS b ON (a.`product_id` = b.`product_id`) LEFT JOIN ( SELECT `product_id`, `image`, `swatch` FROM `product_images` WHERE `sequence` = 0) AS c ON (a.`product_id` = c.`product_id`) LEFT JOIN `brands` AS d ON (a.`brand_id` = d.`brand_id`) INNER JOIN `industries` AS e ON (a.`industry_id` = e.`industry_id`) WHERE b.`website_id` = 96 AND b.`status` = 1 AND b.`active` = 1 AND MATCH( a.`name`, a.`sku`, a.`description`, d.`name` ) AGAINST ( 'ashley sofa' ) GROUP BY a.`product_id` ORDER BY b.`sequence` LIMIT 0, 9 The error I get is: Incorrect arguments to MATCH If I remove d.name from the MATCH statement it works. I have a full-text index on that column. I saw one of the articles say to use an OR MATCH for this table, but won't that lose the effectiveness of being able to rank them together or match them properly? Other places said to use UNIONs but I don't know how to do that properly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. In the idea of a long term solution it seems that either Sphinx or Lucene is best. Now by no means and I a MySQL guru, and I heard that Lucene is a bit more complicated to setup, any recommendations or directions would be great.
