  • Rename files to increment filenumber using PowerShell?

    Hi, I've got a bunch of files named attachment.023940 attachment.024039 attachment.024041 attachment.024103 etc... I need to rename the files by incrementing the filenumber by a given number. (So that they match the right ID in a database) I guess I could write a C# application that uses RegEx to parse the filename, but I assume this is a task that could be accomplished in PowerShell as well? I've found several other threads on SO about using PowerShell to rename files, but none of them handled incrementing a filenumber. I'm on Win7, so PowerShell 2.0 is available.

    Hi, I have got this working line of code I would like to run via VBScript a share program on a remote computer in a domain environment. The first part is ok where it is asking me to enter a computer name, but the problem is in the second part. I don't know how to run the program on the remote computer that I've entered in the first part. computer = inputbox ("What computer do you wish to check? This exception is thrown no matter what character I use, so long as it is present within the words I am reading in. I am aware that it is probably a super simple fix, but I just really need another set of eyes to see it. Thanks in advance.

  • PHP Filesystem Pagination

    How does one paginate a large listing of files within a folder? I can't see any functions in the PHP documentation that mention any way to specify an 'offset'. Both glob() and scandir() simply return all the files in the folder, and I'm afraid that won't be a good idea for a huge directory. Is there any better way of doing this than simply going through all the files and chopping off the first X number of files?

Is there a method to determine the type of file system of the drive the software is installed to?   • How can I tell what files are currently open by a process (i.e. my app)?

    I am using a Lucene.Net index and want to give the user an option to move the index, but am having trouble closing it down so the directory/contents can be moved (I keep getting access denied exceptions). I need to be able to have some more information so I can debug this problem, such as being able to tell what files are currently open, and as much information about each use as possible. Alternatively, is there any way to simply force close a bunch of files so they can be moved? This would make things a lot easier to solve.

    I am trying to build a python script that will take in an XML document and remove all of the comment blocks from it. I tried something along the lines of: tree = ElementTree() tree.parse(file) commentElements = tree.findall('//comment()') for element in commentElements: element.parentNode.remove(element) Doing this yields a weird error from python: "KeyError: '()' I know there are ways to easily edit the file using other methods ( like sed ), but I have to do it in a python script.
