  This new version fixes a number of bugs and adds support for more high level C# features such as iterator blocks. A new tabbed browsing model was added and Jason Haley's PowerCommands add-in was included as an exploratory step for future versions. • Good php editor

  i have seen through other questions on the topic but most are a bit old. I looking for a good editor for developing on PHP in Linux(ubuntu). Here is my requirements Basic editor features Free Light-Weight Syntax highlighting Code Folding (class,function,if/else/while/foreach block) Code completion Invalid Syntax/Error highlighting as you type Auto code intending Snippet support(pieces of custom or language specific codes that i can insert) Extendable support It would be great if it had the following Debugging support WYSIWYG Code formatting Framework support(cakephp/yii/zend/smarty) Testing support Todo Native look and feel(Gnome) Flex/ROR support is welcome but not a requirement Mysql support I have tried the following editors Netbeans - it bloated, resource hogging and doesnt not have a native look and feel. Eclipse is okay but i cant fold if/while blocks and slow. Gedit can be extended and i have tried it but still i could not fold code or show error. I currently use Geany but it doesn't inform me of syntax errors as i type. If you have ways to solve the problems with above editors they too are also welcome

• Thoughts of Cloud Development/Google App Engine

  I use mainly PHP for web development, but recently, I started thinking about using Google App Engine. It doesn't use PHP which I am already familiar with, so there will be a steeper learning curve. Probably using Python/Django. But I think it maybe worthwhile. Some advantages I see: Focus on App/Development. No need to setup/maintain server ... no more server configs Scales automatically Pay for what you use. Free for low usage Reliable, it's Google after all Some concerns though: Does database with no joins pose a problem for those who used App Engine before? Do I have to upload to Google just to test? Will it be slow compared to testing locally? What are your thoughts and opinions? Why would you use or not use App Engine?

• How do I list installed software with the installed size?

  I would like to have a list the installed software on my machine, with the disk space consumed by them alongside. I would prefer to be able to order by largest/smallest, but that is not a necessity. I am the sort of person who will install software to try it, and never clean up after myself. As a result, my 7GB (Windows and my Data are on separate partitions, as well as a swap area) Ubuntu 11.04 partition is suffering, and has started regularly showing warning messages. I have cleaned my browser cache, as well as everything under Package Cleaner in Ubuntu Tweak, and am left with 149.81 MB off free space.

• In the Groove: PASS Board Year 1, Q3

  It's nine months into my first year on the PASS Board and I feel like I've found my rhythm. I've accomplished one of the goals I set out for the year and have made progress on others. Here's a recap of the last few months. Anti-Harassment Policy & Process Completed In April I began work on a Code of Conduct for the PASS Summit. The Board had several good discussions and various PASS members provided feedback. You can read more about that in this blog post. Since the document was focused on issues of harassment we renamed it the "Anti-Harassment Policy " and it was approved by the Board in August. The next step was to refine the guideliness and process for enforcement of the AHP. A subcommittee worked on this and presented an update to the Board at the September meeting. You can read more about that in this post, and you can find the process document here. Global Growth Expanding PASS' reach and making the organization relevant to SQL Server communities around the world has been a focus of the Board's work in 2012. We took the Global Growth initiative out to the community for feedback, and everyone on the Board participated, via Twitter chats, Town Hall meetings, feedback forums and in-person discussions. This community participation helped shape and refine our plans. Implementing the vision for Global Growth goes across all portfolios. The Virtual Chapters are well-positioned to help the organization move forward in this area. One outcome of the Global Growth discussions with the community is the expansion of two of the VCs from country-specific to language-specific. Thanks to the leadership in Brazil & Mexico for taking the lead here. I look forward to continued success for the Portuguese- and Spanish-language Virtual Chapters. Together with the Global Chinese VC PASS is off to a good start in making the VC's truly global. Virtual Chapters The VCs continue to grow and expand. Volunteers recently rebooted the Azure and Virutalization VCs, and a new  Education VC will be launching soon. Every week VCs offer excellent free training on a variety of topics. It's the dedication of the VC leaders and volunteers that make all this possible and I thank them for it. Board meeting The Board had an in-person meeting in September in San Diego, CA.. As usual we covered a number of topics including governance changes to support Global Growth, the upcoming Summit, 2013 events and the (then) upcoming PASS election. Next Up Much of the last couple of months has been focused on preparing for the PASS Summit in Seattle Nov. 6-9. • How to use lemodev highscore plugin for unity?

  I am trying to add a server-sided highscore system to my game in unity. I have downloaded the free lemodev highscore plugin from the asset store but I cant figure out how to use it. I know where to put my server info and so on but other what are you supposed to do ? I added the main camera prefab that came with the package to my scene but other than adding an additional camera it did precisely nothing ( at least it seems that way ). Could anyone look into it and tell me how to use it ? The developer's website seems to have no information on the subject.

Ping.eu is a free service which would let you test various aspects related to networks which would typically be pain inducing doing it on your own. For seasoned network professional having a MAC address of their own instead of a name :) this might not be that useful. However for a layperson like me this an invaluable resource. These guys provide you with following services: Ping – Shows how long it takes for packets to reach host Traceroute – Traces the route of packets to destination host from our server DNS lookup – Look up DNS record WHOIS – Lists contact info for an IP or domain Port check – Tests if port is opened on specified IP Reverse lookup – Gets hostname by IP address Proxy checker – Detects a proxy server Mail relaying – Tests relaying capabilities of specified mail-server Bandwidth meter – Detects your download speed from our server Network calculator – Calculates subnet range by network mask Network mask calculator – Calculates network mask by subnet range Country by IP – Detects country by IP or hostname Unit converter – Converts values from one unit to another   Taken straight from their site. • Should companies require developers to credit code they didn't write?

  In academia, it's considered cheating if a student copies code/work from someone/somewhere else without giving credit, and tries to pass it off as his/her own. Should companies make it a requirement for developers to properly credit all non-trivial code and work that they did not produce themselves? Is it useful to do so, or is it simply overkill? I understand there are various free licenses out there, but if I find stuff I like and actually use, I really feel compelled to give credit via comment in code even if it's not required by the license (or lack thereof one).

  Whenever I attempt to make a record for *.schneiderdonnelly.com.au and CNAME it, I get two errors: You can't mix CNAME/MX records together using the same hostname. Domain root's cannot be CNAME's, however you can web-forward this record to www.schneiderdonnelly.com.au instead for the same effect. I've read it's possible so why can't I make it work? I donated $5 to be a premium member and I've been trying to make it work for yonks. http://i.stack.imgur.com/D9Ui5.jpg This is how I want it to appear. The last record. But they forget how they learn this ability, or where (I know in school, no one gives us any ability, of course in my opinion).   just upgraded from Ubuntu 13.04 to Ubuntu 13.10, my Laptop is a Sony SVE1512c6ew, scrolling worked perfectly in Ubuntu 13.04, doesnt work at all in 13.10 Runs Ubuntu 13.10 64bits (btw, tested it i Windows 8 environment works there)Hardware OK, have seen a number of other users with the same problem, well for starters have followed the tip on using the dconf editor, following the path: org gnome settings-daemon peripherals touchpad boxed in all for sure... still cant get vertical scroll...... Any ideas???
