• Are there any PHP DocBlock parser tools available?

  I would like to build some smaller scale but hightly customized documentation sites for a few projects. PhpDocumentor is pretty great but it is very heavy. I thought about trying to tweak the templates for that but after spending only a couple of minutes looking into it I decided that it would be too much work. Ideally I'd like to see something to which I could pass a bunch of files and have it return all of the files, classes and properties and methods, along with their meta data, so that I could build out some simple templates based on the data. Are there any DocBlock parser-only projects that will help me in this task, or am I stuck reinventing that wheel?

  Ok I am checking that a string is at least 4 characters long and 25 or less characters short I tried to use strlen like this $userNameSignupLength = strlen($userNameSignup); else if($userNameSignupLength<4 && $userNameSignupLength>25) { $userNameSignupError = "Must be between 4 to 25 characters long"; } but it doesn't work... what did I do wrong?

• How to display multiple cell entries individually from a MySQL database and using PHP

  I have a column called post_tags where there is sometimes one tag entry and sometimes multiple tags stored. These are separated by * symbols. I want to display these out to the screen one by one. If there were just one item inside the cell I would have used: $query = mysql_query("SELECT post_tags FROM posts WHERE id=$id"); while ($result = mysql_fetch_assoc($query)) { $result['post_tags']; } But how can I display each entry individually when there are multiple ones in one cell (is this what the explode function is for)?

• How do I display a local html file in a UIWebView?

  I have a relatively simple question that I cannot seem to find the answer for. While doing the Google Maps Java API Tutorials, I ran into a problem. I can load an HTML file from the web, but when I try it locally, it just displays the contents of the file instead of running the script. Here's what works: NSString *url = @"http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/v3/examples/geocoding-simple.html"; NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:url]]; [webView loadRequest:request]; I want to store the HTML file locally and run it from the device itself, so I tried: [webView loadRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"geocoding-simple" ofType:@"html"]isDirectory:NO]]]; and it just displayed the contents of the file. • PHP best practices for naming conventions

  I recently started these naming conventions.. all functions & variables = camelCase constants with define() = ALL_CAPS_AND_UNDERSCORES Now I see a lot of other people mix up camelCase and underscores and they seem to have some sort of convention to it... What do you use and what is best? I've heard that public and private functions should have underscores before some.. I assume private have 2 underscores as in __construct() ? Thank you!

• Banning by IP with php/mysql

  I want to be able to ban users by IP. My idea is to keep a list of IP's as rows in an BannedIPs table (the IP column would be an index). To check users' IP's against the table, I will keep a session variable called $_SESSION['IP'] for each session. If on any request, $_SESSION['IP'] doesn't match $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'], I will update $_SESSION['IP'] and check the BannedIPs table to see if the IP is banned. (A flag will also be saved as a session variable specifying whether or not the user is banned) Here are the things I'm wondering: Does that sound like a good strategy with regards to speed and security (would someone be able to get around the IP ban somehow, other than changing IP's)? What's the best way to structure a mysql query that checks to see if a row exists? That is, what's the best way to query the db to see if a row with a certain IP exists (to check if it's banned)? Should I save the IP's as integers or strings? Note that... I estimate there will be between 1,000-10,000 banned IP's stored in the database. $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] is the IP from which the current request was sent.

  I need to get a XML File into a Database. Thats not the problem. Cant read it, parse it and create some Objects to map to the DB. Problem is, that sometimes the XML File can contain namespaces and sometimes not. Furtermore sometimes there is no namespace defined at all. So what i first got was something like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <struct xmlns:b="http://www.w3schools.com/test/"> <objects> <object> <node_1>value1</node_1> <node_2>value2</node_2> <node_3 iso_land="AFG"/> <coords lat="12.00" long="13.00"/> </object> </objects> </struct> And the parsing: $t = $xml->xpath('/objects/object'); foreach($nodes AS $node) { if($t[0]->$node) { $obj->$node = (string) $t[0]->$node; } } Thats fine as long as there are no namespaces. • Eager loading vs. many queries with PHP, SQLite

  I have an application that has an n+1 query problem, but when I implemented a way to load the data eagerly, I found absolutely no performance gain. I do use an identity map, so objects are only created once. Here's a benchmark of ~3000 objects. first query + first object creation: 0.00636100769043 sec. memory usage: 190008 bytes iterate through all objects (queries + objects creation): 1.98003697395 sec. memory usage: 7717116 bytes And here's one when I use eager loading. query: 0.0881109237671 sec. memory usage: 6948004 bytes object creation: 1.91053009033 sec. memory usage: 12650368 bytes iterate through all objects: 1.96605396271 sec. memory usage: 12686836 bytes So my questions are Is SQLite just magically lightning fast when it comes to small queries? (I'm used to working with MySQL.) Does this just seem wrong to anyone? Shouldn't eager loading have given much better performance?

  Trying to parse a csv file that has all the data wrapped in double quotes, because there may be commas in the double quotes. Looks like this: $songs = '"1, 2, 3, 4 (I Love You)","Plain White T's","CBE10-22",15,"CBE10-22","","","CB",984,"","10/05/10"'; $regResult = preg_match( "", $songs, $matches ); I can't figure out a regex that will return the data between the quotes as the matches. I'm sure there is some regex master that can help me with this.

  I have a chunk of code to login to test a web site login: $r = new HttpRequest($newlocation, HttpRequest::METH_GET); $r-addCookies($cookieArray); $r-send(); The content of $cookieArray is from a redirect, but I don't modify it in any way. The really baked part is that if the value of the cookie (an authentication token string) contains a slash, it doesn't login properly. If it doesn't have a slash, everything works. Any ideas are appreciated.

  Hello, I have a system where registered users can vote up/vote down comment for a picture. Something very similar to SO's voting system. I store the votes in a table with values as such; vote_id | vote_comment_id | vote_user_id | vote_date | vote_type Now I have few a question concerned the speed and efficiency for the following; PROB: Once a user opens the picture page with comments I need, if that user has already voted UP/DOWN a comment to show it like; "you voted up" or "you voted down" next to the comment (in SO it the vote image is highlighted) MY POSSIBLE SOL: Right now when I open a picture page for each comment I loop thru, I loop thru my table of votes as well and check if a user has voted and show the status (I compare the vote_user_id with the user's session). How efficient is this? Anyone have a better approach to tackle this kind of problem?

• Checking for a valid and in-use email address in PHP

  I'm not sure if this is exactly possible, but figured I'd throw it out there. I have a client that is getting some hate-mail from somebody he knows via a contact form on a website that I developed for him. Currently I do the normal checks for a validly-formatted email address, along with a Captcha, but the client has requested that a user enter his/her own email address in the form. Now I realize that something like this could be easily spoofed by setting up a fake Yahoo account, etc, but the client's thinking is that this person is not quite that computer-literate. Is there any possibility for checking if an email address is valid and in-use? The only other things I can think of is turning his contact form into a mailto: link.

  I'm having trouble with the MyClass::function(); style of calling methods and can't figure out why. Here's an example (I'm using Kohana framework btw): class Test_Core { public $var1 = "lots of testing"; public function output() { $print_out = $this->var1; echo $print_out; } } I try to use the following to call it, but it returns $var1 as undefined: Test::output() However, this works fine: $test = new Test(); $test->output(); I generally use this style of calling objects as opposed to the "new Class" style, but I can't figure out why it doesn't want to work.

• How do I convert HTML to RTF (Rich Text) in .NET without paying for a component?

  Is there a free third-party or .NET class that will convert HTML to RTF (for use in a rich-text enabled Windows Forms control)? The "free" requirement comes from the fact that I'm only working on a prototype and can just load the BrowserControl and just render HTML if need be (even if it is slow) and that Developer Express is going to be releasing their own such control soon-ish. I don't want to learn to write RTF by hand, and I already know HTML, so I figure this is the quickest way to get some demonstrable code out the door quickly.
