• Sporadic EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL) when in 64 bit mode

  For some reason for a low-number of users (say 1 in a few hundred) the application seem to crash when run in 64bit mode on a Snow Leopard 10.6.3 I've attached the code, but please remind IT IS NOT A CODE issue. The crashed seem to be random in com.apple.AppKit at random locations and random moments. Anyone else had any experiences? Any suggestions other then running the application in 32 bit only? Please do not dilute the feedback by asking for or blaming the code, the code is 100% solid, guaranteed! No memory leaks, the crashes clearly are triggered in 32 bit mode only just after start inside the AppKit itself like deep inside NSThread sleep's callstack.

It should create a scroll inside the div. In IE, it stretches the div out vertically. </div> </body> </html> If you put a ton of text in the div, IE will stretch the div out beyond the declared "bottom". I know what it is doing. It considers the bottom of the page to be the bottom of the page after all of the text has been rendered. I want bottom to be the bottom of the visible window. So, I want to have a div that is centered inside the window. Is there some retarded hack to make IE comprehend the basic concept of CSS?

  What does 'this' keyword refer to when used in gloabl object? Let's say for instance we have: var SomeGlobalObject = { rendered: true, show: function() { /* I should use 'SomeGlobalObject.rendered' below, otherwise it won't work when called from event scope. But it works when called from timer scope!! How can this be? */ if(this.rendered) alert("hello"); } } Now if we call in an inline script in the HTML page: SomeGlobalObject.show(); window.setTimeout("Msg.show()", 1000); everything work ok. But if we do something like AppendEvent(window, 'load', Msg.show); we get an error because this.rendered is undefined when called from the event scope. Do you know why this happens? • Slapd service won't start, unable to open pid file

  I'm trying to set up a test LDAP-server for some developers but I'm running into some trouble. service slapd start errors so I run /usr/sbin/slapd -d 1 and this gives me the following error at the end: unable to open pid file "/var/run/ldap/slapd.pid": 13 (Permission denied) slapd destroy: freeing system resources. slapd stopped. The rights for /var/run/ldap are as follows: root@pec:/var/run/ldap# ls -ld drwxr-xr-x 2 openldap openldap 60 2012-07-04 20:45 So I don't get why there is still a permission denied. I've found tutorials for C and Qt, and for python and gtk, but NOTHING for this combo of pyQt and gstreamer. Anybody get this working? • IE7 issue - cannot download streamed file when Automatic prompting for file downloads is disabled

  Hi, My application is J2EE (JSP/Servlet) based. I encounter an issue when i try to open a new window (pop-up) from JSP and call a Servlet action (e.g. Streamer.do) which streams a PDF file inside that pop-up. Problem: While IE 7 - Tools - Internet Options - Security - Custom Level - Downloads - Automatic prompting for file downloads is Disabled and while pop-up window get opened, I am unable to download the file (Save/Open prompt is not comming up). In contrast, when I enable this option, I am able to download. But this option sometimes would be disabled in some environments. While testing this in Mozilla Firefox 3.0/3/5/IE6 it is working fine without any settings change. When i check it to enable i then get the Save/Open prompt to work correctly. This should be problem with IE7. Can anybody help us with Javascript or any working settings which doesnt care whether the "Automatic prompting for downloads" option in IE7 is enabled. • jQuery Flow Control (if then from URL params)

  Strangely enough I am more familiar with jQuery than I am with javascript. I need to be able to add a class to the body tag of a document depending on what specific forum page i'm on in a phpbb forum. Due to the nature of phpbb I can't actually do this flow control in php, so I am using jquery. Here's my code (the first part is an extend that gets the url parameters like so http://www.mysite.com/viewforum.php?f=3 var forum = $.getUrlVar('f'); will make forum == 3 because of the nature of phpbb i can't really do any flow control with php. So I am using jquery. • Animate UserControl in WPF?

  I have two xaml file one is MainWindow.xaml and other is userControl EditTaskView.xaml. In MainWindow.xaml it consists of listbox and when double clicked any item of listbox, it displays other window (edit window) from EditView userControl. I am trying to animate this userControl everytime whenever any item from the listbox is double clicked. I added some animation in userControl however the animation only gets run once. • Multiple undo managers for a text view

  Hi, I've a text view that gets its content from an attributed string stored in a model object. I list several of these model objects in a drawer and when the user clicks on one the text view swaps its content. I now need to also swap the undo manager for the text view. I initialise an undo manager on my model object and use undoManagerForTextView to return it to the text view, but something's not quite right. Strategically placed logging statements show me that everything's working as planned: on startup a new model object is initialised correctly and a non-null undo manager is always pulled by the text view. But when it comes to actually doing undo, I just can't get the behaviour I want. I open a window, type something and press cmd+z, and undo works. I open a window, type something, select a new model on the table, type something, go back to the first model and try to undo and all I get is a beep. Something on the documentation made me raise an eyebrow, as it would mean that I can't have undo with several model objects: The default undo and redo behavior applies to text fields and text in cells as long as the field or cell is the first responder (that is, the focus of keyboard actions). Once the insertion point leaves the field or cell, prior operations cannot be undone.

• R: dev.copy2pdf, multiple graphic devices to a single file, how to append to file?

  Hi everybody, I have a script that makes barplots, and opens a new window when 6 barplots have been written to the screen and keeps opening new graphic devices whenever necessary. Depending on the input, this leaves me with a potential large number of openened windows (graphic devices) which I would like to write to a single PDF file. Considering my Perl background, I decided to iterate over the different graphics devices, printing them out one by one. I would like to keep appending to a single PDF file, but I do not know how to do this, or if this is even possible. I would like to avoid looping in R. :) The code I use: for (i in 1:length(dev.list()) { dev.set(which = dev.list()[i] dev.copy2pdf(device = quartz, file = "/Users/Tim/Desktop/R/Filename.pdf") } However, this is not working as it will overwrite the file each time. Now is there an append function in R, like there is in Perl. Which allows me to keep adding pages to the existing pdf file? Or is there a way to contain the information in a graphic window to a object, and keep adding new graphic devices to this object and finally print the whole thing to a file? Other possible solutions I thought about: writing different pdf files, combining them after creation (perhaps even possible in R, with the right libraries installed?) copying the information in all different windows to one big graphic device and then print this to a pdf file.

• Windows shutdown processes termination sequence

  I've seen today an wierd situation. I have a theory, but it would help to know more about the windows shutdown process. If you have some knowlaged about it please share. A machine was shutdown (at this moment I suspect an unexpected mantainace), on that machine there was a long running process that was interrupted. Monitorization confirms that the process did not terminated normally. Loking at the logs for the long running process it seem that was just finishing. That seems higly unprobable since it was running for more than 6 hours (witch is a bit more than the usual 5 hours). The process lanches child processes and waits for results from them, I suspect pour error control on the parent process and that the shutdown as terminated child processes before.

  I'm trying to learn how to make a firefox extension. I want to create a toolbar that only shows up on a specific page. I can make the toolbar appear, but then it should become hidden when I open or switch to a new tab, or close the tab with that specific page. • IE9 selectAllChildren on an out-of-view element

  I am trying to replicate a service that is provided by Tynt.com that appends some text to a user's selection when copying. I understand that users don't particularly like this, but it is a client's request to append the URL and copyright notice whenever a user copies something from their website. Commenting that out works, but obviously the new node is shown to the end user. It appears that this was resolved in later versions of IE, but I am having trouble coming up with a workaround that is sufficient for IE9, a browser that I need to support. I've tried a variety of alternatives, like setting visibility: hidden;, positioning it off-screen, and trying some alternative selection functions, but they each present different problems. The error thrown by IE is: SCRIPT16389: Unspecified error.

  I am attempting to poll the temperature of an HP ProCurve 3500YL switch remotely using SNMP. Looking at this MIB, it appears that the following OIDs: hpCpuTemperature 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.17.7.1.1.1.6 hpPowerSupplyTemperature 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.17.7.1.1.1.7 hpChassisTemperature 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.17.7.1.1.1.8 Within the 'hpProcurveSysMib' should provide the data I need. However, whenever I attempt to access these OIDs, I receive the response: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.11.2.3.7.11.17.7.1.1.1.6 = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID Further investigation reveals that the switch in question does not appear to implement the parent hpProcurveSystem MIB: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.11.2.3.7.11.17.7.1.1 = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID Does anyone know of an alternative MIB implemented by the 3500 that will allow its temperature to be polled automatically?

• Access folder right-click from inside the folder in Windows 7

  In Windows XP, if you had a folder open in Explorer, you could access the right-click context menu of a folder by right-clicking the folder icon in the titlebar of the Explorer window. In Win7 this no longer works. Right-clicking the background of the open folder, or right-clicking the folder icon in the info pane at the bottom, does not give the same context menu; there are items that are not in these menus, but are in the menu when I right-click on a folder from outside it. Given that I have a folder open in Explorer, how can I, without navigating out of the folder, access the same right-click context menu that I would get if I navigated to the parent folder and right-clicked my target folder?
