    Hello, I have created an application that records a series of longitude and latitude values in a SQLite database and display them as a coloured track on a MapActivity. I now want to be able to export this data somehow (preferably to a file) so a user can upload the values to a website showing a Google Map API. My question is: what would be the quickest way to export the data (and in what file format: GPX, XML, CSV) to the SD card located on the Android device. Many thanks.

    Including DISTINCT to an SQL query that also uses ORDER BY CAST(thecolumn AS int) as shown here seems to remove that sorting functionality. Any reason these cant work together? (Using sqlite with the C api) Thanks. EDIT: Started with - sprintf(sql, "SELECT DISTINCT rowX FROM TableX Order By Cast(rowX As int) LIMIT 150 OFFSET %s;", Offset); rowX is Type CHAR(5)

  • Disabling networkmanager for a specific interface

    I'd like to do some experimentation with hostap without disabling my primary wireless interface. How do I tell networkmanager to keep its hands off a specific interface or interfaces while allowing it to continue managing all other interfaces normally? I'm using Ubuntu 9.04. (Wasn't sure if this should go on superuser or serverfault, as networkmanager isn't much of a 'server' tool - if it belongs on serverfault please feel free to move it) Edit: I've tried adding this to /etc/network/interfaces: allow-hotplug wlan2 iface wlan2 inet static address 192.168.49.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 But this has no apparent effect, even after restarting NetworkManager. Here's my /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf: [main] plugins=ifupdown,keyfile [ifupdown] managed=false Edit[2]: Looks like I needed to restart nm-system-settings, then NetworkManager.

    I suppose this question is more general than working with COM components. I have a .NET client written in C# and COM component written in pure Win32 API. Client side uses this component to perform some actions. How to know on the client that component did its job? I think it may be socket/pipe, with component writing to it about results, and client reading from it displaying progress to the user. What is the best way to do this?

    I need to deploy some file integrity monitoring and intrusion detections software on AWS instances. I really wanted to use OSSEC, however it does not work well in an environment where servers can auto deploy and shut down based on load, because it requires server managed keys to be generated. Including the agent in the AMI will not allow monitoring as soon as it comes up because of that. There are many options out there, and several are listed in other posts on this site, however none that I've seen so far deal with the unique problems inherent in AWS or cloud based deployments in general. Can anyone point me at some products, preferably open source, that we might use to cover those portions of PCI DSS that require this software? Has anyone else achieved this on AWS?

    Can anyone provide the tc command to limit upload bandwidth per user in Debian Lenny? I found that to mark packets per user with iptables I can use the following command iptables -t mangle -A OUTPUT -p tcp -m owner --uid-owner testuser -j MARK --set-mark 500 but I have no idea how to use tc update by running following commands, i managed to limit testuser upload bandwidth to 10Mbit iptables -t mangle -N HTB_OUT iptables -t mangle -I POSTROUTING -j HTB_OUT iptables -t mangle -A HTB_OUT -j MARK --set-mark 30 iptables -t mangle -A HTB_OUT -m owner --uid-owner testuser -j MARK --set-mark 10 tc qdisc replace dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 30 tc class replace dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 10Mbit burst 5k tc class replace dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 10Mbit ceil 10Mbit tc qdisc replace dev eth0 parent 1:10 handle 10: sfq perturb 10 tc filter add dev eth0 parent 1:0 prio 0 protocol ip handle 10 fw flowid 1:10 now the problem is, i do not want to limit testuser's FTP bandwidth but by running above commands FTP speed also limited to 10Mbit.     I am the only one who will have access to my website. Just installed my VPS and managed to get most stuff working. However, stuck on the "members" part. Currently, everything has been done as "root". I have read posts that I should create a user, because root isn't ideal. I have found thousand guides on how to create a user, but now what to do next. 1- Should I create a user with adduser username and then add the user to a group? But which group? 2- And will the user then be able to do everything as I have done logged on as "root"? 3- And somebody plz explain what "sudo" has to do with this? (if anything at all) Thanks
