  • Launch another instance of Java app on Mac

    I have a Mac Java app bundle that has problems opening an OpenGL window from a SWT dialog in a single process. It just doesn't work. To solve this problem I would like to open a SWT dialog in one instance of the Java app and then have it launch another instance of itself with a parameter saying "this time open the OpenGL window". The part I don't know how to do is finding out what "itself" is on a Mac. How can I do that?

    How do I add 2 years to a date in powerbuilder and account for the leap year correctly? We have a medical license application where the user would like the date to go expire two years. Current license date is 7/10/2010 and expire date should be 7/2/2012 I used relative date and added 729 if not a leap year and 730 if it was but that is messy. I wish the relativedate function took another parameter to so you could pass in number years.

What I would like to have work is the following: http://localhost:8080/idptest -> doesn't work But instead, I have to reference the context name in my URL in order to resolve the mapping: http://localhost:8080/<context_name>/idptest -> works How can I avoid the requirement of referencing the context name in my URL without using a rewrite/proxy engine e.g. Apache?   • How can I force a jQuery faded-in user control to remain after click events?

    I have a basic page to which I'm adding an uploader control based on Bulk Uploader at c-sharpcorner.com and the control is in a jQuery-faded div based on yesdegisn The Bulk Uploader has two server side event handlers for two buttons--Add and Remove. After clicking these buttons, the fade disappears and you're back to the basic page--if the user needs to add more files, this is not desirable. The ArrayList of files added to a ListBox is maintained, but I have to click the "fade-in" link (LinkButton id="lnkDocumentUpload") to display this window again. I also need the control to POST to UploadPost.aspx, and it doesn't work either. Clicking the upload button(<asp:Button ID="btnUpload" runat="server" />) has the same behavior described above--fade disappears, data is retained, and no POST. I've surrounded the control with <form id="frmUpload" action="~/UploadPost.aspx"> ... <asp:Button ID="btnUpload" runat="server" Text="Upload"/> </form> A LinkButton activates the fade in jQuery via $("#lnkDocumentUpload").click(function() { centerPopup(); loadPopup(); });

But if extra.is_hidden(), the debugger shows that the condition is passed and it goes to the next line and does nothing! As a result I get a UnboundLocalVar error which says FormClass hasn't been asssigned at all. Any ideas on what's happening?

    Can someone tell me how to tell Wordpress' tinymce editor to NOT strip out script tags? I looked in wp-admin/includes/post.php and added 'extended_valid_elements'=>'script[charset|defer|language|src|type]', to the $initArray.     There is an excellent article describing a way to embed GWT RPC payload into the host page. A key element is missing there is how to know Strong Name of RPC serialization policy at run time. Strong Name is computed at the compile time, put into the client and obfurscated. Strong name is sent to the server with RPC request as described here. What would you suggest to make this parameter available at the time of host page generation?

But what I'm looking for is the following; first check what category the current post (the post that is showing based on the permalink) belongs to, and then only list the latest posts that belong to that same category. The problem is that: http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/friends.json provides me the last 100 persons ive followed and i wanted to display only 20 for each 'page'.     Basically, I want to be able to assign objects created within filters to members in a base controller from which every controller extends. Any possible way to do that? Here's how I tried, but haven't got to make it work. What I'm trying to achieve is to have all my controllers extend a base controller. The base controller's constructor would be used to assign values to its members, those values being pulled from the session map. Example below. With pysvn there is callback_get_login parameter but in case credentials are wrong, callback is prompted over and over without any way to cancel this and return failure information.   • Project management: Implementing custom errors in VS compilation process

    Like many architects, I've developed coding standards through years of experience to which I expect my developers to adhere. This is especially a problem with the crowd that believes that three or four years of experience makes you a senior-level developer.Approaching this as a training and code review issue has generated limited success. So, I was thinking that it would be great to be able to add custom compile-time errors to the build process to more strictly enforce this and other guidelines. For instance, we use stored procedures for ALL database access, which provides procedure-level security, db encapsulation (table structure is hidden from the app), and other benefits. (Note: I am not interested in starting a debate about this.) Some developers prefer inline SQL or parametrized queries, and that's fine - on their own time and own projects. I'd like a way to add a compilation check that finds, say, anything that looks like string sql = "insert into some_table (col1,col2) values (@col1, @col2);" and generates an error or, in certain circumstances, a warning, with a message like Inline SQL and parametrized queries are not permitted. Or, if they use the var keyword var x = new MyClass(); Variable definitions must be explicitly typed. Do Visual Studio and MSBuild provide a way to add this functionality? I'm thinking that I could use a regular expression to find unacceptable code and generate the correct error, but I'm not sure what, from a performance standpoint, is the best way to to integrate this into the build process. We could add a pre- or post-build step to run a custom EXE, but how can I return line- and file-specifc errors? Also, I'd like this to run after compilation of each file, rather than post-link. Is a regex the best way to perform this type of pattern matching, or should I go crazy and run the code through a C# parser, which would allow node-level validation via the parse tree? I'd appreciate suggestions and tales of prior experience.

  • What's the best way to retrieve two pieces of data from an XML file?

    I've got an XML document that is in either a pre or post FO transformed state that I need to extract some information from. In the pre-case, I need to pull out two tags that represent the pageWidth and pageHeight and in the post case I need to extract the page-height and page-width parameters from a specific tag (I forget which one it is off the top of my head). What I'm looking for is an efficient/easily maintainable way to grab these two elements. I'd like to only read the document a single time fetching the two things I need. I initially started writing something that would use BufferedReader + FileReader, but then I'm doing string searching and it gets messy when the tags span multiple lines. I then looked at the DOMParser, which seems like it would be ideal, but I don't want to have to read the entire file into memory if I could help it as the files could potentially be large and the tags I'm looking for will nearly always be close to the top of the file. I then looked into SAXParser, but that seems like a big pile of complicated overkill for what I'm trying to accomplish. Anybody have any advice? Or simple implementations that would accomplish my goal? Thanks.
