• Automatic web form testing/filling

  I recently became lead on getting an inordinate amount of testing done in a very short period of time. We have many different web forms, using custom (Telerik) controls that need to be tested for proper data validation and sensible handling of the data. Some of the forms are several pages long with 30-80 different controls for data entry. I am looking for a software solution (that is free) that would allow me to automate the process of filling in these forms by designing a script, or using a UI. The other requirement is that I can't use any browsers but IE6 (terrible, I know). I have previously used AutoHotkey to great success for automatic Windows form testing, since Autohotkey's API allows you to directly reference controls on the Windows form. However Autohotkey does not have similar support for web forms (everything is just one big "InternetExplorer" control). While I would prefer that I could script some variance in the data to help serialize each test, it's not necessary, as I could go back through and manually edit a field or two (plus "break" whatever control I'm currently testing) to serialize each test. If you've ever seen Spawner: http://forge.mysql.com/projects/project.php?id=214 It's almost exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for (Spawner generates dummy SQL data, as opposed to dummy webform data) - but I won't be picky, I've got a really short deadline to meet and had this thrust in my lap just today. ;) Edit1: One of the challenges of just using Autohotkey to simulate keyboard input (tabbing through controls) is that some controls don't currently have tab index (bug), and some controls cause a page reload after modification, resulting in inconsistent control focus (tabbing screwed up). Our application makes heavy use of page reloads to populate fields (select a location, it auto-populates a city, for example).

• Tieing Fullcalendar into my database

  I am trying to figure out this fullcalendar and how to get events from database. I am using asp .net I am using a webservice that has something like this. I am just trying to put a test record first then I will tie it to the database once i get it working. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks alot! • Apache mod_rewrite RewriteCond to by-pass static resources not working

  I can't for the life of me fathom out why this RewriteCond is causing every request to be sent to my FastCGI application when it should in fact be letting Apache serve up the static resources. I've added a hello.txt file to my DocumentRoot to demonstrate. The text file: ls /Sites/CioccolataTest.webapp/Contents/Resources/static hello.txt` The VirtualHost and it's rewrite rules: AppClass /Sites/CioccolataTest.webapp/Contents/MacOS/CioccolataTest -port 5065 FastCgiExternalServer /Sites/CioccolataTest.webapp/Contents/MacOS/CioccolataTest.fcgi -host 127.0.0.1:5065 <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName cioccolata-test.webdev DocumentRoot /Sites/CioccolataTest.webapp/Contents/Resources/static RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ /Sites/CioccolataTest.webapp/Contents/MacOS/CioccolataTest.fcgi/$1 [QSA,L] </VirtualHost> Even with the -f, Apache is directing requests for this text file (i.e. access http://cioccolata-test.webdev/hello.txt returns my app, not the text file). As a proof of concept I changed the RewriteCond to: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/hello.txt That made it serve the text file correctly and allowed every other request to hit the FastCGI application. Why doesn't my original version work? I need to tell apache to serve every file in the DocumentRoot as a static resource, but if the file doesn't exist it should rewrite the request to my FastCGI application. NOTE: The running FastCGI application is at /Sites/CioccolataTest.webapp/Contents/MacOS/CioccolataTest (without the .fcgi prefix)... the .fcgi prefix is only being used to tell the fastcgi module to direct the request to the app.

• PHPUnit - multiple stubs of same class

  I'm building unit tests for class Foo, and I'm fairly new to unit testing. A key component of my class is an instance of BarCollection which contains a number of Bar objects. One method in Foo iterates through the collection and calls a couple methods on each Bar object in the collection. I want to use stub objects to generate a series of responses for my test class. How do I make the Bar stub class return different values as I iterate? I'm trying to do something along these lines: $stubs = array(); foreach ($array as $value) { $barStub->expects($this->any()) ->method('GetValue')) ->will($this->returnValue($value)); $stubs[] = $barStub; } // populate stubs into `Foo` // assert results from `Foo->someMethod()` So Foo->someMethod() will produce data based on the results it receives from the Bar objects. But this gives me the following error whenever the array is longer than one: There was 1 failure: 1) testMyTest(FooTest) with data set #2 (array(0.5, 0.5)) Expectation failed for method name is equal to <string:GetValue> when invoked zero or more times. Mocked method does not exist. /usr/share/php/PHPUnit/Framework/MockObject/Mock.php(193) : eval()'d code:25 One thought I had was to use ->will($this->returnCallback()) to invoke a callback method, but I don't know how to indicate to the callback which Bar object is making the call (and consequently what response to give). Another idea is to use the onConsecutiveCalls() method, or something like it, to tell my stub to return 1 the first time, 2 the second time, etc, but I'm not sure exactly how to do this. I'm also concerned that if my class ever does anything other than ordered iteration on the collection, I won't have a way to test it.

• Script throwing unexpected operator when using mysqldump

  A portion of a script I use to backup MySQL databases has stopped working correctly after upgrading a Debian box to 6.0 Squeeze. I have tested the backup code via CLI and it works fine. I believe it is in the selection of the databases before the backup occurs, possibly something to do with the $skipdb variable. If there is a better way to perform the function then I'm will to try something new. • XSLT multiple string replacement with recursion

  I have been attempting to perform multiple (different) string replacement with recursion and I have hit a roadblock. I have sucessfully gotten the first replacement to work, but the subsequent replacements never fire. I know this has to do with the recursion and how the with-param string is passed back into the call-template. I see my error and why the next xsl:when never fires, but I just cant seem to figure out exactly how to pass the complete modified string from the first xsl:when to the second xsl:when. • Mocking an object that uses jni using EasyMock

  So my class under test has code that looks braodly like this public void doSomething(int param) { Report report = new Report() ...do some calculations report.someMethod(someData) } my intention was to extract the construction of report into a protected method and override it to use a mock object that I could then test to ensure that someMethod had been called with the right data. So far so good. But Report isnt under my control, and to mkae things worse it uses JNI to load a library at runtime. If I do Report report = EasyMock.createMock(Report.class) then EasyMock attempts to use reflection to find out the class members, but this causes an attempt to load the JNI library, which fails (the JNI libraries are only available on UNIX). Im considering two things: a) Introduce a ReportWrapper interface with two implementations, one of which will delegate calls to an real Report (so basically a Proxy), and a second which will basically use a mock object. or b) instead of calling someMethod, call a protected method which will in turn call someMethod that I can override in a testing subclass. Either way it seems nasty. Any better ways?

  Hi there, Does anybody know how to (easily) "rename" an existing grails application? I'm running into this because my PaaS provider does not allow me to delete a subscription... So I want to deploy my application under a different name. Of course, I can do this manually, but I think it might be a useful 'top-level' script (i.e. "grails rename-app newappname") Manual hints: When I do a "grails create-app myappname" I can see the myappname exists in the following files (and filenames)... Of course this is done by the create-app script, which replaces @...@ tokens in the template.   I've got a little problem with my password-checker. There's got a registration form with some fields. I use jQuery Validate plugin to validate user-inputs. It all works except the password-validation: The password should meet some minimum requirements: minimum length: 8 - I just use 'minlength: 8' at least one lower-case character at least one digit Allowed Characters: A-Z a-z 0-9 @ * _ - . ! At the moment I use this code to validate the password: $.validator.addMethod("pwcheck", function(value, element) { return /^[A-Za-z0-9\d=!\-@._*]+$/.test(value); }); This Code works for the allowed characters but not for minimum requirements. I know that you can use for example (?=.*[a-z]) for a lower-case-requirement. But I just don't get it to work. If I add (?=.*[a-z]) the whole code doesn't work anymore. I need to know how to properly add the code to the existing one. Thank you for your answers! • Google map API v3 event click raise when clickingMarkerClusterer?

  I have a Google Map API v3 map object on a page that uses MarkerClusterer. I have a function that need to run when we click on the map to it is registered as: google.maps.event.addListener(map, 'click', function (event) { CallMe(event.latLng); }); So my problem is as follows: When I click on a cluster of MarkerClusterer instead of behaving like a marker and not raise the click event on the map but only the one from the marker it calls the click from the map. To test this I have generated an alert from the markerclusterer click: google.maps.event.addListener(markerClusterer, "clusterclick", function (cluster) { alert('MarkerClusterer click event'); }); So the clusterclick rises after the click event of map object. I then can't remove the listener of map object as a solution. Is there any way to test if there was a clusterer click in the click event of the map? Or a way to replicate the marker behaviour and do not raise the click event of map when clustererclick is called? Google and documentation didn’t help me. Thx

  I am doing an investigation on a method's performance and finally identified the overhead was caused by the "else" portion of the if else statement. I performed this on both Mac and Linux Java with 1.6 latest build. Consistently the first benchmark, without the else is much faster than the second benchmark with the else section even though the code is structured such that the else portion is never executed because of the condition. I understand that to some, the difference might not be significant but the relative performance difference is large. I wonder if anyone has any insight to this (or maybe there is something I did incorrectly). • "image contains error", trying to create and display images using google app engine

  Hello all the general idea is to create a galaxy-like map. I run into problems when I try to display a generated image. The above is just an example to explain my problem. What is the standard approach to solve these kinds of timing issues? One idea would be to wait with the assertion until I get some event notification that my app has been stopped.

If I print the argc argument, it's 14 for the second instance of runner.exe, and they are all weird stuff like Files\Microsoft, SQL, Files\Common and so on. I can't figure out why this happens. I want to be able to string as many runner.exe calls using command line arguments as possible, or at least 2. How can I do that? I am using Windows 7 if that makes a difference.

• Selenium tests not building due to NUnit error (Mono+OS X)

  I'm running Selenium RC on my Mac and driving my tests using NUnit in C#. My problem is that when I try and build a simple test in Mono I get the following error. • Issues with reversing bit shifts that roll over the maximum byte size?

  I have a string of binary numbers that was originally a regular string and will return to a regular string after some bit manipulation. I'm trying to do a simple caesarian shift on the binary string, and it needs to be reversable. However, I think when it rolls over being representable by one byte it's irreversable. On the test string "test!22*F ", with an addFactor of 12, the string becomes irreversible. Why is that and how can I stop it?

• Altering lazy-loaded object's private variables

  I'm running into an issue with private setters when using NHibernate and lazy-loading. Let's say I have a class that looks like this: public class User { public int Foo {get; private set;} public IList<User> Friends {get; set;} public void SetFirstFriendsFoo() { // This line works in a unit test but does nothing during a live run with // a lazy-loaded Friends list Users(0).Foo = 1; } } The SetFirstFriendsFoo call works perfectly inside a unit test (as it should since objects of the same type can access each others private properties). However, when running live with a lazy-loaded Friends list, the SetFirstFriendsFoo call silently fails. I'm guessing the reason for this is because at run-time, the Users(0).Foo object is no longer of type User, but of a proxy class that inherits from User since the Friends list was lazy-loaded. My question is this: shouldn't this generate a run-time exception? You get compile-time exceptions if you try to access another class's private properties, but when you run into a situation like this is looks like the app just ignores you and continues along its way.

Then I want to know why I'm getting this if the file is all correct? *PS: When I click to exit the MessageBox, I saw that the TextBox is displaying where the file is(I've tested with many other files, and with all I got the error and this).
