• Converting obj data to CSS3D

  I found a ton of formulae and what not, but 3D isn't my forte so I'm at a loss of what specifically to use. My goal is to convert the data in an 3D .obj file (vertices, normals, faces) to CSS3D (width, height, rotateX,Y,Z and/or similar transforms). • Key Handling mechanics

  I am new to game development and am working on my first game using OpenGL and C++. I have a game class which handles everything necessary in an update() function. Now i want to handle keyboard inputs. I use GLFW which supports key callbacks. However i wonder how to deal with inputs. Should i record the keys pressed and poll on it the next time my game updates or should the callback immediately perform the necessary actions? And why? Thanks :)

Just imagine that you are making a game for mobile devices from scratch , where and all will you be spending your money to make one ? Is it possible to make games for mobile devices without spending any ? If yes , then it makes more sense for a indie game developer who is talented but comes from a very weak financial background. • Port flash game to native android

  Alright here is the problem: the creators of a quite popular flash-based game have asked me to port their game to Android. They are not interested in any other platforms so we don't need to be worrying about iOS or PC. They want the best performance on just Android (I guess that's the point of porting a flash-based game. They could have just went with it) They found Unity 'slow'. How would the performance (on android) of other engines compare? Are they expecting too much i.e. finding Unity slow? I am in favor of Unity since development is a little easier with more things being visual (I am not experienced as you might have guessed). This would be an example of the type of game I am to port Thanks!

• Apache returns 403 Forbidden for alternative port vhost

  I'm having an issue getting vhosts to work on Apache 2.2, Debian 6. I have two VirtualHosts, one on port 80 and one on port 8888. The port 80 one has been created automatically by DirectAdmin, the 8888 is a custom one. It's configuration is as follows. <VirtualHost *:8888 > DocumentRoot /home/user/public_html/development ServerName www.myserver.nl ServerAlias myserver.nl <Directory "/home/user/public_html/development"> Options +Indexes +FollowSymLinks +MultiViews AllowOverride All Order Allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost> Of course I also have a NameVirtualHost *:8888 The port 80 DocumentRoot is /home/user/public_html/production, which is perfectly accessible and works like a charm. The port 8888 docroot of /home/user/public_html/development is 403 forbidden though. I have compared the permissions for both folders. They seem fine to me. drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Aug 17 16:14 development drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Aug 18 04:29 production Also, the index.php file which is supposed to display when accessing through port 8888, located in /development/: -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 41 Aug 17 16:14 index.html I have looked at my error_log and found many of the following entries, only being added to the log file when accessing through port 8888. [Sat Aug 18 04:35:09 2012] [error] [client 27.32.156.232] Symbolic link not allowed or link target not accessible: /home/user/public_html /home/user/public_html is a symbolic link that refers to /home/user/domains/mydomain/public_html. The symbolic link has the following permissions: lrwxrwxrwx 1 admin admin 29 Aug 17 15:56 public_html -> ./domains/mydomain/public_html I'm at a loss. It seems that everything is readable or executable. I've set the Directory to FollowSymLinks in the httpd.conf file, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. If I change that directory tag to <Directory "/home/admin/public_html"> (so it has FollowSymLinks on that as well) it still does not work. Any help is greatly appreciated. If I need to post more information, let me know. I'm pretty much a beginner at this stuff. .. .. UPDATE: I ended up changing the configuration to directly go to the actual path of the files, avoiding the public_html symlink altogether. That worked. Thanks for the suggestions folks. DocumentRoot /home/user/domains/mydomain/public_html/development instead of DocumentRoot /home/user/public_html/development

I found that EMS DB Comparer for PostgreSQL can do it, but it is only for Windows (our development team use Ubuntu for developing). Do you now alternative tools to do this?

  I would like to get started with PHP, and 5.3 release seems to bring many nice features (namespaces, lambda functions, and many others). I have found some MVC frameworks, and some of them support only PHP 5: PHP Frameworks PHP MVC Frameworks Model–view–controller on Wikipedia but can anyone recommend one of those MVC frameworks that plans to actively use PHP 5.3 features, not just being compatible with PHP 5.3? • Microsoft Technical Computing

  In the past I have described the team I belong to here at Microsoft (Parallel Computing Platform) in terms of contributing to Visual Studio and related products, e.g. .NET Framework. To be more precise, our team is part of the Technical Computing group, which is still part of the Developer Division. This was officially announced externally earlier this month in an exec email (from Bob Muglia, the president of STB, to which DevDiv belongs). Here is an extract: "… As we build the Technical Computing initiative, we will invest in three core areas: 1. Technical computing to the cloud: Microsoft will play a leading role in bringing technical computing power to scientists, engineers and analysts through the cloud. Existing high- performance computing users will benefit from the ability to augment their on-premises systems with cloud resources that enable ‘just-in-time’ processing. This platform will help ensure processing resources are available whenever they are needed—reliably, consistently and quickly. 2. Simplify parallel development: Today, computers are shipping with more processing power than ever, including multiple cores, but most modern software only uses a small amount of the available processing power. Parallel programs are extremely difficult to write, test and trouble shoot. However, a consistent model for parallel programming can help more developers unlock the tremendous power in today’s modern computers and enable a new generation of technical computing. We are delivering new tools to automate and simplify writing software through parallel processing from the desktop… to the cluster… to the cloud. 3. Develop powerful new technical computing tools and applications: We know scientists, engineers and analysts are pushing common tools (i.e., spreadsheets and databases) to the limits with complex, data-intensive models. These templates can be used with Oracle VM for x86, on the Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, and on the Oracle Database Machine. Oracle VM Templates for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne accelerate the process of setting up a working environment compared to the traditional installation process. The templates can be a key component to a well-managed cloud infrastructure, allowing system administrators to quickly provision fully functional JD Edwards EnterpriseOne environments for evaluation, development, or production use. • Great Expectations - Fusion HCM Highlights at OOW

There's always so much to see and do and learn at the conference so I want to share some of the 'don't miss' Fusion HCM highlights with you. (Use this tool to search by session number to get a full description.) For starters, we have several customers who will be sharing their Fusion HCM implementation stories. We'll kick off these presentations with a customer panel at 12:15 on Monday in Moscone West 2005 (CON9420). You'll hear from Zillow, the Gerson Lehrman Group, UBS, and ConAgra about their experiences with our products. Oracle partners MarketSphere (CON8581) and eVerge (CON3800) have implemented Fusion HCM themselves and and will talk about how they'll use their experiences to help customers with their implementations (both are in Moscone West 2006). • Random thoughts on Monday

  I know that it has been a long time since my last post, just though that I would update you my latest thoughts of Governance. I just recently completed an executive round table series on EA and Cloud in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. The response was phenomenal. The key point of the session was that Enterprise is the key enabler of innovation - All companies want to drive to be market leaders, EA can lay the foundation for the path to deliver that at innovation. When it comes to innovation, I see two distinct types: (a) Passive innovation is where a company creates innovation thought increments improvement over time. A great example is when airlines went from paper tickets to electronic ticket. Next logical progression is to do the same with boarding passes. There are a lot of examples to choose from, thought the thing to keep in mind, is that passive innovation will only keep you in the lead, it won’t allow you to create new markets or jump from #3 to #1 in one go. For that we need another type of innovation. (b) Disruptive innovation is where you create market where none existed before. Thought very difficult to do and requires significant investment in research, product and software development and not least of all, visionary thinking and timing, if done correctly, can turn the world on it’s ear. A great example is Apple iTunes. Some might say that this is incremental innovation, but only in one aspect, the downloading of music. Other then that, it’s all disruptive innovation. Being able to buy a single song rather then the album fundamentally changed the way we get out music. Behind all of these types of innovation is Enterprise Architecture. EA creates the infrastructure foundation, then delivery systems and the end-user experience to deliver this innovation. At Oracle, we are driving that EA innovation with our private cloud offerings from “bolt-to-glass” as I like to say.
