• python: using __import__ to import a module which in turn generates an ImportError

  Hi there, I have a funny problem I'd like to ask you guys ('n gals) about. I'm importing some module A that is importing some non-existent module B. Of course this will result in an ImportError. This is what A.py looks like import B Now let's import A >>> import A Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "/tmp/importtest/A.py", line 1, in <module> import B ImportError: No module named B Alright, on to the problem. How can I know if this ImportError results from importing A or from some corrupt import inside A without looking at the error's string representation. The difference is that either A is not there or does have incorrect import statements. Hope you can help me out... Cheers bb

  Is there a way to connect to a SQL-CE database as a stream? Specifically, our ASP.Net application builds small SDF at runtime for off-line needs. When the user is done with his off-line duties, he uploads the SDF and the application imports the new and updated data. No problems there. Currently, we're saving the uploaded SDF to the web-server's hard-drive and connecting to the file. Can we connect to the uploaded SDF without saving it to the hard-drive? We are using the DbProviderFactory.CreateConnection method, but we're open to suggestions.

  Hi everyone, Very quick question. My server is warning me that line 37 will be deprecated, specifically: #Server error: views/projects/index.html.erb:37: warning: Object#id will be deprecated; use Object#object_id #Views/projects/index.html.erb: 6: <% for project in @projects do %> 36: <%= project.id %> 37: <%= Matching.find_all_by_customer_id_and_project_id( @customer.id, project.id).id %> 38: <%= @customer.id %> Here's my confusion. Line 36 project.id isn't raising a warning, so I assume the issue is that I'm calling ID on the Matching model. Why is it the case that only Matching raising an error and not customer or project? I want to get a special string for encrypting my password. This string is given by my authservice. But when i login i get a multiple times a alert with Done(line 69 in the pastebin code or line 4 in the code on the bottom of this question). But i want that it shows one single time. • Setting up Django on an internal server (os.environ() not working as expected?)

  I'm trying to setup Django on an internal company server. (No external connection to the Internet.) Looking over the server setup documentation it appears that the "Running Django on a shared-hosting provider with Apache" method seems to be the most-likely to work in this situation. Here's the server information: Can't install mod_python no root access Server is SunOs 5.6 Python 2.5 Apache/2.0.46 I've installed Django (and flup) using the --prefix option (reading again I probably should've used --home, but at the moment it doesn't seem to matter) I've added the .htaccess file and mysite.fcgi file to my root web directory as mentioned here. When I run the mysite.fcgi script from the server I get my expected output (the correct site HTML output). But, it won't when trying to access it from a browser. It seems that it may be a problem with the PYTHONPATH setting since I'm using the prefix option. I've noticed that if I run mysite.fcgi from the command-line without setting the PYTHONPATH enviornment variable it throws the following error: prompt$ python2.5 mysite.fcgi ERROR: No module named flup Unable to load the flup package. In order to run django as a FastCGI application, you will need to get flup from http://www.saddi.com/software/flup/ If you've already installed flup, then make sure you have it in your PYTHONPATH. I've added sys.path.append(prefixpath) and os.environ['PYTHONPATH'] = prefixpath to mysite.fcgi, but if I set the enviornment variable to be empty on the command-line then run mysite.fcgi, I still get the above error. Here are some command-line results: >>> os.environ['PYTHONPATH'] = 'Null' >>> >>> os.system('echo $PYTHONPATH') Null >>> os.environ['PYTHONPATH'] = '/prefix/path' >>> >>> os.system('echo $PYTHONPATH') /prefix/path >>> exit() prompt$ echo $PYTHONPATH Null It looks like Python is setting the variable OK, but the variable is only applicable inside of the script. Flup appears to be distributed as an .egg file, and my guess is that the egg implementation doesn't take into account variables added by os.environ['key'] = value (?) at least when installing via the --prefix option. • Amazon EC2 EBS automatic backup one-liner works manually but not from cron

  I am trying to implement an automatic backup system for my EBS on Amazon AWS. When I run this command as ec2-user: /opt/aws/bin/ec2-create-snapshot --region us-east-1 -K /home/ec2-user/pk.pem -C /home/ec2-user/cert.pem -d "vol-******** snapshot" vol-******** everything works fine. But if I add this line into /etc/crontab and restart the crond service: 15 12 * * * ec2-user /opt/aws/bin/ec2-create-snapshot --region us-east-1 -K /home/ec2-user/pk.pem -C /home/ec2-user/cert.pem -d "vol-******** snapshot" vol-******** that doesn't work. I checked var/log/cron and there is this line, therefore the command gets executed: Dec 13 12:15:01 ip-10-204-111-94 CROND[4201]: (ec2-user) CMD (/opt/aws/bin/ec2-create-snapshot --region us-east-1 -K /home/ec2-user/pk.pem -C /home/ec2-user/cert.pem -d "vol-******** snapshot" vol-******** ) Can you please help me to troubleshoot the problem? • What's a good bit of JS or JQuery for horizontally scrolling news ticker

  Hi, I am looking for a little bit of JQuery or JS that allows me to produce a horizontally scrolling "news ticker" list. The produced HTML needs to be standards compliant as well. I have tried liScroll but this has a habit of breaking (some content ends up on a second line at the start of the scroll), especially with longer lists. I have also tried this News Ticker but when a DOCTYPE is included the scrolling will jolt rather than cycle smoothly at the end of each cycle. Any suggestions are appreciated. Edit So thanks to Matt Hinze's suggestion I realised I could do what I wanted to do with JQuery animate (I require continuous scrolling not discrete scrolling like the example). However, I quickly ran into similar problems to those I was having with liScroll and after all that realised a CSS issue (as always) was responsible. Solution: liScroll - change the default 'var stripWidth = 0' to something like 100, to give a little space and avoid new line wrapping.

  Hi, I've been trying to run the following command line from a Powershell build script we have; but keep running into issues & 'C:\Dev\Yadda\trunk\BuildScripts\U tilities\csmanage.exe' /create-deployme nt /name:yadddayaddyaddadev /label:yadddayaddyaddadev /package:https://yadddayaddyadda.blob.core.windows.net/mydeployments/20100426_202848_FamilyMoments.cspk g /config:C:\Dev\WalmartOne\trunk\yadddayaddyadda.CloudService\bin\Debug\ServiceCon figuration.cscfg /slot:Staging /hosted-service:yadddayaddyadda-dev" Note: the space in "Utilities" is intentional; trying to snif out a bug involving spaces in the executable path. I assure you, the path does exist with the space in it on my machine. What's the best way to call this command line from Powershell? I've tried Invoke-Expression, Diagnostic.Process::Start, &; each method coming up with some different type of error; usually that it could find the executable. Any constructive input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  Hello, From the documentation it's clear I need to use the following to get a simple unmarshalling to occur from my XML file/schema: JAXBContext jc = JAXBContext.newInstance("PackageName"); where PackageName is my package name. I've looked on google for a bit to no avail, to find out why I'm then getting this runtime error: Line:Col[2:142]:cvc-elt.1: Cannot find the declaration of element 'myconfig'. Line:Col[2:142]:unexpected element (uri:"http://www.w3.org", local:"myconfig"). Expected elements are <{}myconfig> Caught UnmarshalException This occurs at the top of all my class files, including the ones the XJC plugin for eclipse created for me (which I then moved out of PackageName.PackageName which it automatically created): package PackageName; so why is this error occurring?

• Folder Redirection/Offline Files on Win 7 | Folders are empty when not connected to the domain

  I've been struggling with this issue for days and cannot seem to find anyone else with a similar issue. I will note first that I have tried using both roaming profiles and the group policy setting for force local profiles.... now onto the problem. What I am trying to do is have my teachers accounts log onto their laptops using their domain credentials. Once logged in their desktop and documents are redirected to a network share //server/redirects/documents/. This works fine when the computer is connected to the domain network. Offline File Sync works great and caches the files locally. However this all breaks down when the user logs in when the computer is no longer connected to the domain network. When the user logs in the desktop and documents are empty. What I find very odd is if I manually go to the offline file folder all of the files are there, The group policy folder redirection does not execute to the offline folder. Is this by Design? (It does not work like this on Vista, I have the exact same group policy settings set on vista machines and it works flawlessly). Additional Info When I look at the event log there is no folder redirection events at all when user logs in and is not connected to the network. In addition a new profile is create in c:/users/username.domain.00x. Every log in creates an additional profile. There is a event that states that a registry files were still in use. Any help would be appreciated.

• ubuntu 10.04 logs itself out overnight

  Every night when I leave work, I lock the screen via ubuntu's "power" button in the top right hand panel. When I come to work in the morning, I'm greeted with the log-in screen. This doesn't happen every night, but most. I'm running ubuntu 10.04 on a Dell inspiron. I've included some HW specs, and also dmesg output. Please let me know what other logs may be useful. thanks!   Hi, I am working on Joomla 1.5 and our site is using the Bluehost server.Till March 9th, 2010 our site was working perfectly.And on March 10th,2010 , the following error was shown in the site as Warning: Unexpected character in input: '' (ASCII=28) state=1 in /home1/tcscoinc/public_html/tcsrnd/administrator/components/com_jaclplus/jac lplus.class.php on line 73 Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home1/tcscoinc/public_html/tcsrnd/administrator/components/com_jaclplus/jac lplus.class.php on line 73 For time being, i have just renamed the file jaclplus.class.php to make the site to function. As we are using Jaclplus component and we have purchased the Jaclplus component from Byos Tech , i have checked in the membership details.And we found that our Membership has been expired on 03/10/2010 . I have asked them but they had replied that it may not be a problem on membership. Please anyone share what can be the reason for the error.I am not able to open that file(jaclplus.class.php) since its a binary file.

• Fuzzy Regex, Text Processing, Lexical Analysis?

  I'm not quite sure what terminology to search for, so my title is funky... Here is the workflow I've got: Semi-structured documents are scanned to file. The files are OCR'd to text. The text is parsed into Python objects The objects are serialized (to SQL, JSON, whatever) for use. The documents are structures like this: HEADER blah blah, Page ### blah Garbage text... 1. Question Text... continued until now. A. Choice text... adsadsf. B. Another Choice... 2. Another Question... I need to extract the questions and choices. The problem is that, because the text is OCR output, there are occasional strange substitutions like '2' - 'Z' which makes ordinary regular expressions useless. I've tried the Levenshtein module and it helps, but it requires prior knowledge of what edit distance is to be expected. I don't know whether I'm looking to create a parser? a lexer? something else? This has lead me down all kinds of interesting but nonrelevant paths. Guidance would be greatly appreciated. Oh, also, the text is generally from specific technical domains, so general spelling tools are not so helpful. Regarding the structure of the documents, there is no clear visual pattern -- like line breaks or indentation -- with the exception of the fact that "questions" usually begin a line. Crap on the document can cause characters to appear before the actual beginning of the line, which means that something along the lines of r'^[0-9]+' does not reliably work. Though the "questions" always begin with an int, a period and a space; the OCR can substitute other characters or skip characters. This is not so much a problem with Tesseract or Cunieform, rather with the poor quality of the paper documents. # Note: for the project in question, it was decided that having a human prep the OCR'd text was better that spending the time coding a solution. I'd still love good pointers, however.

  I have a system that I need to programmatically interface with that requires a set of numbers to be dialed after the phone line is picked up, like a standard automated phone answering system. For instance, dial the number 123-456-7890, wait for the line to be answered, wait 15 seconds for the voice prompt, dial 1234#, hang up. The question is, can I and how do I do that through a modem? I know how to dial a number through a modem, it's simply ATDT[phone number], but that will attempt to initiate a data connection which will not allow touch-tone number entry. Would a voice modem provide the necessary capability? If so, could anyone provide example commands to accomplish this?

  I have URLs like http://example.com/depict?smiles=CO&width=200&height=200 (and with several other optional arguments) My urls.py contains: urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^$', 'cansmi.index'), (r'^cansmi$', 'cansmi.cansmi'), url(r'^depict$', cyclops.django.depict, name="cyclops-depict"), I can go to that URL and get the 200x200 PNG that was constructed, so I know that part works. In my template from the "cansmi.cansmi" response I want to construct a URL for the named template "cyclops-depict" given some query parameters. I thought I could do {% url cyclops-depict smiles=input_smiles width=200 height=200 %} where "input_smiles" is an input to the template via a form submission. In this case it's the string "CO" and I thought it would create a URL like the one at top. This template fails with a TemplateSyntaxError: Caught an exception while rendering: Reverse for 'cyclops-depict' with arguments '()' and keyword arguments '{'smiles': u'CO', 'height': 200, 'width': 200}' not found. This is a rather common error message both here on StackOverflow and elsewhere. In every case I found, people were using them with parameters in the URL path regexp, which is not the case I have where the parameters go into the query. That means I'm doing it wrong. How do I do it right? That is, I want to construct the full URL, including path and query parameters, using something in the template. • Code coverage (c++ code execution path)

  Let's say I have this code: int function(bool b) { // execution path 1 int ret = 0; if(b) { // execution path 2 ret = 55; } else { // execution path 3 ret = 120; } return ret; } I need some sort of a mechanism to make sure that the code has gone in any possible path, i.e execution paths 1, 2 & 3 in the code above. I thought about having a global function, vector and a macro. This macro would simply call that function, passing as parameters the source file name and the line of code, and that function would mark that as "checked", by inserting to the vector the info that the macro passed. The problem is that I will not see anything about paths that did not "check". Any idea how do I do this? How to "register" a line of code at compile-time, so in run-time I can see that it didn't "check" yet? I hope I'm clear.

  Hi, I have created a XML image gallery, which displays text in between each slide. Now I have created a movie clip with a dynamic text field (with Render HTML selected) to display the text from the XML which is pushed into an array. Now, this all works great BUT... /n or /r is not creating a new line break (as they need to be custom). Yet if I create an Array and manually push strings "Bla bla bla /n bla bla bla" I get a line break. I have tried converting the Array item to string (even though it already is), I would also avoid creating textField = new textField() any Ideas would be welcomed. Cheers

  Hi I want to calculate the broadcast address for e.g -IP 192.168.3.1 -Subnet 255.255.255.0 =192.168.3.255 in C. I know the way (doing fancy bitwise OR's between the inversed IP and Subnet), but my problem is I come from the green fields of MacOSX Cocoa programing. I looked into the source of ipcal, but wasn't able to integrate it into my code base. There must be a simple 10 line of code example somewhere on the internet, I just can't find it.
