I have a rails application developed to spain, therefore, all content is in spanish, so, I have a search box to search in a mysql database, all rows are in spanish, I'd like to improve my search to allow to users to search keywords in singular or plural form, for example: keyword: patatas found: patata keyword: veces found: vez keyword: vez found: veces keyword: actividades found: actividad In english, this could be relatively easy with help of singularize and pluralize methods ... where `searching_field` like '%singularized_keyword%' or `searching_field` like '%pluralized_keyword%' But, for spanish.... • Help with MySQL database structure - user notification system

  Hi, I'd like to send global notifications to my users (1000+ users) and allow them to close the notification box once they have read the message. Basically I may send one notification per week globally ie/ each user get the same message and they are not personal in nature. What is the best way to achieve this? Create 2 tables: **tb_messages** message_id massage_title message_content **tb_read_messages** user_id message_id is-read That way i can just show each user the current notifications that are not read? select * from tb_read_messages WHERE user_id = $user_id AND is-read = no OR is there a more efficient way? • Syntax Highlighting in a ListBox

  Hi all, I've searched the web and I can't seem to find anything that will work for me. I've seen plenty of discussion, and even some fairly extensible open-source tools, for code editors that provide line numbers and syntax highlighting. Here's my dilemma... I'm working on a "digital code review" project in C#.NET that allows users to specify source files, add them to a particular session, and other users can make comments and line references to the files being reviewed. Basic requirements: Must be written in C#.NET I don't need to be able to edit the text in the text box Users need to be able to select a line (or multiple lines), to make line references. It seems to me that I need some fancy implementation of a ListBox control (not a drop-down list) that has some OwnerDraw capabilities to add line numbers and syntax highlighting. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck putting it together myself, and I can't seem to find a control that's already been written or a reference on how I might be able to accomplish this. Any suggestions??

• How to quickly access documentation in Xcode 4.5.1?

  How can I quickly access the documentation for a symbol, method, enum, etc. in Xcode 4.5? alt + click on symbol shows a quick-info. Apple removed the dictionary icon which opened the documentation. I tried all other possible shortcuts of the cmd / alt / shift / click mumbo jumbo dance and none of them open the documentation browser. I suppose there is a hidden trick to quickly open it anyways? Edit: Figured out this new quick-info box has a link to the documentation.

• How do you handle multiple (overlapping) projects in trac?

  We are using trac and are really satisfied with it. However, out of the box, trac is best suited for single-project environments only. I'd be interested to hear about the various approaches people take to make it work with multiple projects nevertheless and their experiences with them. Are there any plugins to recommend? Any patches, tweaks or whatnots? Are you maybe even using an entirely different bug-tracking system that offers all of trac's functionality plus multi-project support? We recently started managing a second project ourselves which generally works okay but also has some drawbacks, especially where the two projects overlap because of common library code we wrote that is used in both projects. How do you handle this? (I'll attach our own current approach as an answer to this post.)

  I have a View which has 2 sub views on it and a ViewModel is assigned to each view: ViewA - ViewModelA { ViewB - ViewModelB ViewC - ViewModelC } ViewB has a text box and ViewC has a combobox, both of which i need access from ViewModelA. Not the GUI control itself, but the bound value i.e. .Text of the textbox and .SelectedItem of the ComboBox. Currently i just have ViewModelB and ViewModelC as properties on ViewModelA but it feels wrong. What's the standard way for view models to communicate with each other without breaking the MVVM pattern? I'm completely new to WPF/MVVM.

• trouble setting up TreeViews in pygtk

  I've got some code in a class that extends gtk.TreeView, and this is the init method. I want to create a tree view that has 3 columns. A toggle button, a label, and a drop down box that the user can type stuff into. The code below works, except that the toggle button doesn't react to mouse clicks and the label and the ComboEntry aren't drawn. (So I guess you can say it doesn't work).   I am creating a WIN32 application and I want most of all my application events to be made through the message queue. But everytime I create a dialog box or any resource like that. The IDE auto generates code that I don't necessarily need. In VB you can write on the form Sub ButtonName_Click() Dim Recipients With Item.GetInspector.ModifiedFormPages("Message") Set Recipients = .Controls("To") End With End Sub which will fire whenever the button named "ButtonName" on the form is clicked and will set the variable Recipients to a string of whatever is in the To text box. Now I have a custom form, and I have a VS C# Outlook Add-in, and they're two separate things. I've got an event handler that can catch MailItem objects, but I don't know how to handle custom form button clicks or even how to access elements on the form. EDIT - Just to clarify, the custom form was created in Outlook and then its .ofs was imported into VS. Both Outlook and VS are 2010.

If you input something, it would return rows whose Col1 matches the input. I try to use the sql below to do it. But there is one problem, these columns allows Null value. It wouldn't return the row with NULL value. Is there any way to return all or matched row based on the input? • On Linux, how do I run a GUI app from a terminal shell under a different login?

  Here's the deal. I logged into a Linux box (CentOS, but that shouldn't matter) as user A. I had to build a program as user B, so I started up a terminal shell, logged into that shell as B, and built it. When I try to run the app, I get this message: "connect to ":0.0" refused by server" Most likely because the current X Windows session is owned by user A, and as B, I don't have permissions to access A's stuff. Is there a correct way to solve this. Any incorrect ways?

• Grails external Jms broker (active mq)

  I have what will become an 'external' activemq server I'd like grails to be able to talk to. Right now I am just running it on my dev box. Here is what I have setup right now: 1) Run activemq server 2) Run activemq/examples using ant to produce messages 3) View ActiveMQ admin site: http://localhost:8161/admin/queues.jsp verify that messages are in the queue. 4) Follow Mini Tutorial to create the Service and Controller: http://www.grails.org/ActiveMQ+Plugin 5) Configured my Grails resources.groovy file as follows: beans = { jmsConnectionFactory(SingleConnectionFactory){ targetConnectionFactory = { ActiveMQConnectionFactory cf -> brokerURL = 'tcp://localhost:61616' } } } When I run the grails app I get a BindException saying port 61616 is already in use. How do I configure this to use my server that is already running? I've tried changing 'localhost' to '127.0.0.1' and to my LAN ip, but no luck, it keeps trying to setup its own embedded activemq server. Any ideas?

  I am using tinymce. It works great. But i want the feature in tinymce where user can upload the images from local box/or from public websites. I am using tomcat ,jsps and core java.I found couple of free third party libraries like ibrowser ,imanager,jbimages etc but all of them using PHP which looks like does not fit in my existing project (i dont know PHP but i tried to integrate one of these in my existing project they don't work and gives some weird error.) Really i am not sure how to have this feature in tinymce(if some other editor support it with jsps i can try that)?

• Name Value Pairs in a ComboBox

  I'm convinced this must be a common problem, but I can't seem to find a simple solution... I want to use a combobox control with name value pairs as the items. ComboBox takes TStrings as its items so that should be fine. Unfortunately the drawing method on a combobox draws Items[i] so you get Name=Value in the box. I'd like the value to be hidden, so I can work with the value in code, but the user sees the name. Any Ideas?

It comes up with a box where I entered in the GUID. I copied and pasted it straight from my test database. I get this error. Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 5 Incorrect syntax near 'cac671b'. So why can't I sent in GUIDs? even ones that are copied right from the database and must be valid as they where allowed into the db.

• How can I kill MySQL queries every 60 seconds in Windows?

  I want to check my MySQL server every minute and kill queries that have run longer than 150 seconds. The main reason I want to do this is because I don't want queries from certain people to lock up the DB for everyone else. I know this is not the ultimate solution to the problem, but at least it's a fallback in case something goes wrong with a query. I don't have a slave DB (this is just an at-home project). I'd like to schedule a script to run that does this for me. I'm unfamiliar with Perl or Ruby and I need it done on my Windows 2008 Server box. I've looked into creating a simple cmd line script, but that doesn't seem to be possible. I know currently I can do something like this but I have to do it manually: mysqladmin processlist mysqladmin kill Anyone have any ideas or examples on how I could do this?
