Windows Phone 7, login screen redirect and a case for .exit?

I know this has been discussed ad nauseum, but I want to present my case.... 1. My start page in my app is login.xaml. The user logs in, the username and password are authenticated through my WCF service, the username is saved in isolated storage, and then the user is redirected to mainpage.xaml. When a user starts my app, and they already have a saved username in isolated storage, they are redirected to mainpage.xaml If the user hit's "back" hard button from mainpage.xaml, they are redirected to the login screen, which in turn redirects them back to the mainpage.xaml since they already have a saved local username. This is causing my app to fail certification currently since the user cannot hit the "back" button to exit the app from mainpage.xaml. My instinct here is to override the BackKeyPress in mainpage.xaml and exit the app somehow. By reading the other posts, I can see that this method is not available. My second idea was to somehow store a property in the app.xaml.cs page that would tell the app to exit when the login page is loaded and that property is set to true, but that seems a bit hacky as well.... Any ideas here?

Loading more than 10 images on iPhone??

I'm trying to add more than 10 pictures on ScrollView. But if the variable 'i' is bigger than 10, 'UIImage *image' is empty. The imageName seems to correct. But I don't know why it does not load image. Does anybody sees the problem?? And one more thing. If I do like that, does iOS controls memory automatically? I mean it's kind of wasting memory if all (more than 10) images are loaded on memory even they are not displayed. I've heard that iOS loads images only displayed on screen and free images those are not displayed. Is that right? Thanks for reading.

Changes in Access DB are not saved since updating to Windows 7

Hi I'm working with a program that accesses an MS-Access DB. The problem is that if I open the db file with Access, the values I see aren't the values I see when I'm using the program. For example, There is a table PARAMS with various program variables, one of them is the date I last loaded a certain file. In access it reads April 12th 2010, while in the program it reads May 7th 2010 (this is correct). April 12th is about the time I upgraded the computer to Windows 7. Also, the mdb file sits next to the program executable in C:\Program Files (x86); and I know that Win7 doesn't allow programs to write to the program files dir. So where are the changes saved? What I've tried: I've tried opening the mdb file on another computer - still reads the wrong (old) values I've tried copying the entire program dir to a different folder - now both the program and ms-access read the wrong values. Can someone tell me how to get a version of the DB with all the values up to date with the program? Thanks.

Client-Side caching on IIS7 doesn't seem to work

I have set content caching on a specific folder by following the local web.config method. I don't think it works, and I would like to fix this. I activate the cache using the IIS / HTTP Headers / Common headers feature. I set them to 1 day of expiration. I opened a page with Google Chrome in private navigation, and then open the Network tab in the console. The first time I load the page, everything loads from the site, obviously. If I refresh the page, I see 2 types of loading in the Network console: the files from Google and Facebook and such have a status of 200, and a size of (from cache). the files from the folder for which I set the caching have a status of 304 and their size is displayed. So, I guess the caching setting doesn't work? Or does the 304 response means that it's loaded from the cache? If they aren't, how can I make it work ? Thanks !

Hi, say I've an xml returned from server like this: <persons> <person> <firstname>Jon</firstname> </person> <person> <firstname>Jack</firstname> </person> <person> <firstname>James</firstname> </person> </persons> If I want to access the 3rd firstname node (passed dynamically and stored in i, assumed to be 3 here), how do I do that? My weird attempt follows: var i=3; $(xml).find('firstname').each(function(idx){ if (idx==i) alert($(this).text()); }); It does fetch me the right content... but it just feels wrong to me especially the looping part. Basically I'm looping through the whole tree using .each()! Is there any better approach than this? Something that'd take me to the nth node directly like: alert( $(xml).find('firstname')[idx].text() ); // where idx=n I'm new to jquery so please excuse my jquery coding approach.

Compiling a C++ application on Windows 7, but execute it on Win2003 Server

I have a C++ application (quite complex, multiple projects) in Visual Studio 2008, that produces a single dll. Recently I switched to Windows 7, but had previously been compiling under Windows XP. Suddenly the dll in question cannot be loaded by another application, i.e. on a machine running Windows 2003 Server. I've been trying various things: I've installed the VC9.0 redistributable package on the server Also copied various .dll's from that package to the application folder The project is of course compiled in release mode When I run depends.exe on the client machine, I do get the following error: "Error: The Side-by-Side configuration information for "my_dll.dll" contains errors. This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem (14001). Warning: At least one module has an unresolved import due to a missing export function in a delay-load dependent module." and the icon for shlwapi.dll has a red overlay icon. This didn't happen when I was compiling under WinXP, so I'm guessing that there really is no problem with the .dll's on the client machine, but somewhere there is a reference to that particular version of some dll. Does anyone know what would be the best way to resolve this? Regards, Daníel

What i think happens: iframe on load handler() copyBuffer change src of iframe , and firefox takes that as an onload again) 2) copybuffer() is called, it sets src of iframe then copies iframe content into div, then erases iframe content THE CODE: count=0; function handler(){ if (count==0){ copyBuffer(); count++; } } function copyBuffer(){ $('buffer').set('src','http://www.somelink.com/'); if (window.frames['buffer'] && $('display') ) { $('display').innerHTML = window.frames['buffer'].document.body.innerHTML; window.frames['buffer'].document.body.innerHTML=""; } } problems: QUESTION 1) nothing happens, the content is not loaded into the div. But if i either: A) remove the counter and let the script run in a feedback loop: the content is suddenly copied into the div, but off course there is a feedback loop going on, you can see it keeps loading in the status bar. OR B) insert an alert in the copyBuffer function. The content is copied, without the feedback loop. why does this happen? QUESTION 2) The If wrapped around the copying code i got from a source on the internet. I am not sure what it does? If i remove it the code does not work in: Safari and Chrome. Using innerHTML to add ordered list fails in IE

As opposed to just setting the html code in the div using .innerHTML? TIA

I need to tell how many answers for the question every time Question is queryed. So I need to do count: String count = "select count(o) from Answer o WHERE o.question=:q"; My question is, where is the best place to do the count? (Because I did a lot of query about Question entity, by date, by tag, by category, by asker, etc. It is obviously not a good solution to add count operation in each query. My first attempt is to implement a @PostLoad listener, so every time Question entity is loaded, I do count. However, EntityManager cannot be injected in listener. So this way does not work. Any hint?

Refresh Div with Jquery at fixed time

I've got a php script that tells me when the next bus is due, and at the moment I'm refreshing this into a div, using jquery, every minute or so. Now, because I know the time at which the data will change (after the bus has come), I want it to refresh the div at this time (or just after, doesn't really matter). I should point out that I'm fairly new to js, but this is what I've got so far: var nextbustime = $('#bus').contents(); var nextbustime = new Date(nextbustime); var now = new Date(); var t = nextbustime.getTime() - now.getTime(); var refreshId = setTimeout(function() { $('#bus').fadeOut("slow").load('modules/bus.php?randval='+ Math.random()).fadeIn("slow"); }, t); The div is loaded originally with a php include. Naturally, what I've done doesn't work at all. Do I need some loops going on? Do I need to refresh the time calculator? Please please help! Thanks in advance...

MySQL query paralyzes site

Once in a while, at random intervals, our website gets completely paralyzed. Looking at SHOW FULL PROCESSLIST;, I've noticed that when this happens, there is a specific query that is "Copying to tmp table" for a loooong time (sometimes 350 seconds), and almost all the other queries are "Locked". The part I don't understand is that 90% of the time, this query runs fine. I see it going through in the process list and it finishes pretty quickly most of the time. This query is being called by an ajax call on our homepage to display product recommendations based your browsing history (a la amazon). Just sometimes, randomly (but too often), it gets stuck at "copying to tmp table". I wonder how to configure Quartz scheduled job threads to reflect proper encoding. Code which otherwise executes fine within Springframework injection loaded webapps (java) will get encoding issues when run in threads scheduled by quartz. Is there anyone who can help me out? All source is compiled using maven2 with source and file encodings configured as UTF-8. Inline form editing on client side

I see some web sites use dynamic forms(I am not sure about how to call them!) to edit a group of data. For example: there is a group of data such as name, last name, city, country.etc. when user clicks on EDIT button, instead of doing postback, a form, consisisting of 2 textboxes + 2 comboboxes, dynamically opens to edit,And then when you click on Save button, edit form disappears, and all data updates.. Now, I know what happens over here is using Ajax for server calls and some javascript for dom manipulation.. I even found some jquery plugins for textbox editing.. However, I could not found anything for full implementation of form fields. Therefore I have implemented it on asp.net by jquery ajax calls and dom manipulation manually. here is my process: 1) when Edit button clicked: Make a ajax call to server to retrieve necessary formedit.aspx 2) it returns editable form fields with values assigned. 3) when Save button clicked: make ajax call to server to retrieve formupdateprocess.aspx page. it basically do the database updates and then return necessary DOM snipplet (...) to insert current page.. well it works but MY PROBLEM, is performance.. Result seems slower than samples I see in other sites.:(( IS there anything that I dont know? a better way to implement this??

Use of extern in C++ dll

I declare then instantiate a static variable in a DLL. // DLL.h class A { //... }; static A* a; // DLL.cpp A* a = new A; So far, so good... I was suggested to use extern rather than static. extern A* a; // in DLL.h No problem with that but the extern variable must be declared somewhere. I got Invalid storage class member. In other words, what I was used to do is to declare a variable in a source file like this: // In src.cpp A a; then extern declare it in another source file in the same project: // In src2.cpp extern A a; so it is the same object a at link time. Maybe it is not the right thing to do? So, where to declare the variable that is now extern? Note that I used static declaration in order to see the variable instantiated as soon as the dll is loaded. Note that the current use of static works most of the time but I think I observe a delay or something like this in the variable instantiation while it should always be instantiated at load time. I'm investigating this problem for a week now and I can't find no solution.

I am generating a table dynamically using Django. The same table template is used to generate a variety of tables depending on the data supplied. In one scenario a particular column contains image tags. Since my table is editable (using jquery) the image cell also becomes editable and removes my content. I want some special behavior on double click of such cells like say upload an image. How do I accomplish this with a jquery? JQuery: Combine multiple pages into one

I am developing an application by using phonegap and jQuery Mobile. Phonegap recommends a single document structure. As 5 divs or more in a document are pretty unclear, I'm trying to split up my pages (the div's) into multiple documents. Require reasonably random results from an SQL SELECT query within a Joomla article (Cache enabled)

Setup: Joomla website on LAMP stack I have a MySQL table containing some records, these are queried by a simple SELECT on the Joomla article, as pasted below. This specific Joomla website has Caching turned on in Joomla's Global Configuration. I need to randomize the order in which I display the resultset, each time the page is loaded. Regular php/mysql would offer me two approaches for this: 1. use 'order by RAND()' or any of a number of methods to allow a SELECT query to return reasonably random results. 2. once php gets the result from the SELECT into an array, shuffle the array to get a reasonably random order of array items. However, as this Joomla instance has Caching turned ON in its Global Configuration, either of the above approaches fails. The first time I load the page the order is randomized, however any further reloads do not cause the order to change, as the page is delivered from cache. The instant the Cache is disabled, both approaches (shuffle/order by rand) work perfectly. What am I missing? How do I override the Global Cache for this specific article? A very simple requirement, that is met by both php and mysql reasonably well, is blocked by the Joomla Cache that I cannot turn off. Do you catch expected exceptions in the controller or business service of your asp.net mvc application

I am developing an asp.net mvc application where user1 could delete data records which were just loaded before by user2. User2 either changes this non-existent data record (Update) or is doing an insert with this data in another table that a foreign-key constraint is violated. Where do you catch such expected exceptions? In the Controller of your asp.net mvc application or in the business service? Just a sidenote: I only catch the SqlException here if its a ForeignKey constraint exception to tell the user that another user has deleted a certain parent record and therefore he can not create the testplan. But this code is not fully implemented yet! Javascript Namespace Help

Hi, I have a pretty big Javascript script with loads of global variables & functions in it. Then a piece of code that calls one function from this js file: myfunc(); Ok, now I have cloned this script and modified some functionality, all function prototypes and variables are named the same in both scripts. So now I have two scripts loaded and one call to myfunc(), now we have a clash because there are loads of global variables with the same names and two myfunc()s. What I want to do is wrap this cloned script in a namespace, so that I can modify the original call to: clone.myfunc() which will call the new function, but I also want myfunc() to just refer to the original script. In other words I can't touch the original script (no permissions) and I want to be able to use both the clone and the original at runtime. This is the script im cloning: http://pastebin.com/6KR5T3Ah Javascript namespaces seem quite tricky this seems a nice namespace method: var namespace = { foo: function() { } bar: function() { } } ... namespace.foo(); } However that requires using an object, and the script (as posted above) is humongous at nearly 4000 lines, too much to objectize I think? Anyone know a better solution to avoid namespace pollution, with one script I cant touch and one being a clone of that script. Just so I can call myfunc() and clone.myfunc() and all global variables will behave in their respected scope. It's either that, or I go through and modify everything to have unique names, which may take a lifetime This is a Mozilla addon if it helps context wise. Thanks.

How to load two divs into separate targets with JQuery?

Hi all, I'm trying to achieve two things, both of which I fail to get at. On a server are a series of notes; all contain a div (id=ajxContent). Some notes also contain an additiona div (id=ajxHead). The ajxContent itself contains links (class=clicking) to call the next installment, hence the link destination in a variable. This is my code: $(document).ready(function(){ $( 'a.clicking' ).live('click', function(e){ e.preventDefault(); var theLink = $(this).attr('href'); $('#loadText').load(theLink + '#ajxContent'); $('h1').load(theLink + '#ajxHead'); }); }) Where it fails: 1) the ajxContent gets loaded into the h1 tag as well as in its intended target. 2) when I had set up the code differently, if there was no div id=ajxHead present in a note, the load would nevertheless erase the existing value in the h1 tag. Am I on a totally wrong track here, with two load statements? Input is very welcome, thanks.

jQuery adding a function to a link question

Hello all, I have a dynamically created table which in the last <td> there is a hidden <div> which is shown when the user hovers over a link in the <td>. That all works fine but there are several links in the div that I want to fire a function based on the id of the link concat'd with an string captured from a <td> from the parent row. I can capture the the variables I need from the id and <td> but something is wrong with the click function I have created. I monitored the function in FireBug and the function appears to be firing on all of the links instead of the one that is clicked. Display data FROM Sheet1 on Sheet2 based on conditional value

Imagine a worksheet with 30 pieces of information, such as: A1= Start Date A2 = End Date A3 = Resource Name A4 = Cost .... A30 = Whatever B1 = 1/1/2010 B2 = 2/15/2010 B3 = Joe Smith B4 = $10,000.00 ... B30 = Blah Blah Now imagine a third column, C. The purpose of the third column is to determine WHICH report that row of data needs to appear in. C1 = Report 1 C2 = Report 1 and Report 2 C3 = Report 4 and Report 7 C4 = Report 1 and Report 5 ... C30 = Report 2 Each report is on Sheets 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on (depending on how many I decide to create). As you can see form my example above, some data may need to appear in multiple reports. For example, the data in Row 3 (Resource Name: Joe Smith) needs to appear in Report 4 and Report 7. That is to say, it needs to DYNAMICALLY appear on two additional worksheets. If I change the values in column C, then the reports need to update automatically. How can I create the worksheets which will serve as the reports such that they only diaplay the rows which have been "flagged" to be displayed in that report? Thanks!

Fasted way to develop data entry screens for a .NET backend ?

I am a .NET / C# back end guy. I am working on a app that will have about 200 different data entry screens. For me exposing DTO as a collection for CRUD (IUpdatable and IQueryable) is the easy part, can do it in sleep :-). What I am trying to decide is what type of front end technology will allow me to develop these data entry screens fast. They don't have to be fancy but they are not just plain grid either and on average they have about 15 form fields and some client side data validation (no db look up) Options I am looking at are Use ExtJS on the front and REST / JSON on the back. ASP.NET RIA but I do not know SL (Well XAML) Plain ASP.NET / MVC One idea I had was the DTO will contain the meta data about the form (As Attributes) and the form can be dynamically generated, but i do not want to reinvent the wheel if their is an easy way. I have looked at RAD software but all of them look at the DB and generate screens. I rather want some thing that can look at my DTO and generate screens. Jay
