• Problem running java code through command line

  I have a partial view called '_comment.erb', and it may be called by parent many times(e.g. in a loop). The '_comment.erb' looks like: <script> function aaa() {} </script> <%= comment.content %> <%=link_to_function 'Do', 'aaa()' %> You can see if the '_comment.erb' be called many times, that the javascript function 'aaa' will be re-defined many times. I hope it can be define only once, but I don't want to move it to parent view. I hope there is a method, say 'run_once', and I can use it like this: <%= run_once do %> <script> function aaa() {} </script> <% end %> <%= comment.content %> <%=link_to_function 'Do', 'aaa()' %> No matter how many time I call the '_comment.erb', the code inside 'run_once' will be run only once. What shall I do?

  Hello, I just used Resharper in one application and it made me feel as if i don't know how to code at all in C# :(. On every line it gave me it's suggestions :- Few of Resharper's favorite suggestions are :- 1) SomObject o = new SomeObject(); Resharper will convert to : var o = new SomeObject() 2) this.Loaded += new RoutedEventHandler(MainPage_Loaded); to this.Loaded += MainPage_Loaded; 3) convert my variables and putting _ in front of all instance variables. 4) Removing class parent's name. I tested this on Silverlight. public partial class MainPage : UserControl to public partial class MainPage EDIT :- 5) replace instance variable this.variable = somevalue to variable = somevalue Are all of these really necessary? Is it really going to affect the efficiency of my program? I mean what good is it going to do by replacing my class names with var keyword. After all var is also replaced with class name at compile time. Is it doing because it has been programmed to do or do these things really affect in some or another way? Thanks in advance :)

• Munging non-printable characters to dots using string.translate()

  So I've done this before and it's a surprising ugly bit of code for such a seemingly simple task. The goal is to translate any non-printable character into a . (dot). For my purposes "printable" does exclude the last few characters from string.printable (new-lines, tabs, and so on). This is for printing things like the old MS-DOS debug "hex dump" format ... or anything similar to that (where additional whitespace will mangle the intended dump layout). I know I can use string.translate() and, to use that, I need a translation table. So I use string.maketrans() for that. Here's the best I could come up with: filter = string.maketrans( string.translate(string.maketrans('',''), string.maketrans('',''),string.printable[:-5]), '.'*len(string.translate(string.maketrans('',''), string.maketrans('',''),string.printable[:-5]))) ... which is an unreadable mess (though it does work). From there you can call use something like: for each_line in sometext: print string.translate(each_line, filter) ... and be happy. (So long as you don't look under the hood). Now it is more readable if I break that horrid expression into separate statements: ascii = string.maketrans('','') # The whole ASCII character set nonprintable = string.translate(ascii, ascii, string.printable[:-5]) # Optional delchars argument filter = string.maketrans(nonprintable, '.' * len(nonprintable)) And it's tempting to do that just for legibility. However, I keep thinking there has to be a more elegant way to express this!

  Hi, I am just trying to fiddle around what is the best and shortest way to describe two simple instructions with C-like pseudo code. The extract instruction is defined as follows: extract rd, rs, imm This instruction extracts the appropriate byte from the 32-bit source register rs and right justifies it in the destination register. The byte is specified by imm and thus can take the values 0 (for the least-significant byte) and 3 (for the most-significant byte). rd = 0x0; // zero-extend result, ie to make sure bits 31 to 8 are set to zero in the result rd = (rs && (0xff << imm)) >> imm; // this extracts the approriate byte and stores it in rd The insert instruction can be regarded as the inverse operation and it takes a right justified byte from the source register rs and deposits it in the appropriate byte of the destination register rd; again, this byte is determined by the value of imm tmp = 0x0 XOR (rs << imm)) // shift the byte to the appropriate byte determined by imm rd = (rd && (0x00 << imm)) // set appropriate byte to zero in rd rd = rd XOR tmp // XOR the byte into the destination register This looks all a bit horrible, so I wonder if there is a little bit a more elegant way to describe this bahaviour in C-like style ;) Many thanks, Claus

• Loading machinecode from file into memory and executing in C -- mprotect failing

  Hi I'm trying to load raw machine code into memory and run it from within a C program, right now when the program executes it breaks when trying to run mprotect on the memory to make it executable. I'm also not entirely sure that if the memory does get set right it will execute. • Need a code snippet for backward paging...

  Hi guys I'm in a bit on a fix here. I know how easy it is to build simple pagination links for dynamic pages whereby you can navigate between partial sets of records from sql queries. However the situation I have is as below: COnsider that I wish to paginate between records listed in a flat file - I have no problem with the retrieval and even the pagination assuming that the flat file is a csv file with the first field as an id and new reocrds on new lines. However I need to make a pagination system which paginates backwards i.e I want the LAST entry in the file to appear as the first as so forth. Since I don't have the power of sql to help me here I'm kinda stuck - all I have is a fixed sequence which needs to be paginated, also note that the id mentioned as first field is not necessarily numeric so forget about sorting by numerics here. I basically need a way to loop through the file but backwards and paginate it as such. How can I do that - I'm working in php - I just need the code to loop through and paginate i.e how to tell which is the offset and which is the current page etc.

  I am trying to use a dll in my c# program but I just cant seem to get it to work. I have made a test app shown below. The return value is 0, however it does not actually do what it is supposed to do. • django powering multiple shops from one code base on a single domain

  Hey, I am new to django and python and am trying to figure out how to modify an existing app to run multiple shops through a single domain. Django's sites middleware seems inappropriate in this particular case because it manages different domains, not sites run through the same domain, e.g. : domain.com/uk domain.com/us domain.com/es etc. Each site will need translated content - and minor template changes. The solution needs to be flexible enough to allow for easy modification of templates. The forms will also need to vary a bit, e.g minor variances in fields and validation for each country specific shop. I am thinking along the lines of the following as a solution and would love some feedback from experienced django-ers: In short: same codebase, but separate country specific urls files, separate templates and separate database Create a middleware class that does IP localisation, determines the country based on the URL and creates a database connection, e.g. /au/ will point to the au specific database and so on. in root urls.py have routes that point to a separate country specific routing file, e..g (r'^au/',include('urls_au')), (r'^es/',include('urls_es')), use a single template directory but in that directory have a localised directory structure, e.g. /base.html and /uk/base.html and write a custom template loader that looks for local templates first. (or have a separate directory for each shop and set the template directory path in middleware) use the django internationalisation to manage translation strings throughout slight variances in forms and models (e.g. ZA has an ID field, France has 'door code' and 'floor' etc.) I am unsure how to handle these variations but I suspect the tables will contain all fields but allowing nulls and the model will have all fields but allowing nulls. The forms will to be modified slightly for each shop. Anyway, I am keen to get feedback on the best way to go about achieving this multi site solution. It seems like it would work, but feels a bit "hackish" and I wonder if there's a more elegant way of getting this solution to work. Thanks, imanc

I have the following code and I am trying to figure out the shorter linq expression to do it 'inline'. Please examine the "Run()" method near the bottom.   Hello colleagues, Small preamble. I was good java developer on 1.4 jdk. After it I have switched to another platforms, but here I come with problem so question is strongly about jdk 1.6 (or higher :) ). I have 3 coupled class, the nature of coupling concerned with native methods. Bellow is example of this 3 class public interface A { public void method(); } final class AOperations { static native method(. . .); } public class AImpl implements A { @Override public void method(){ AOperations.method( . . . ); } } So there is interface A, that is implemented in native way by AOperations, and AImpl just delegates method call to native methods. These relations are auto-generated. Everything ok, but I have stand before problem. Sometime interface like A need expose iterator capability. I can affect interface, but cannot change implementation (AImpl). Saying in C# I could be able resolve problem by simple partial: (C# sample) partial class AImpl{ ... //here comes auto generated code } partial class AImpl{ ... //here comes MY implementation of ... //Iterator } So, has java analogue of partial or something like.

• firefox reading web page from local JS file -- access to restricted URI denied, code: 1012, nsresult

  My problem is -- I have a html file which is really JS program, which reads web pages and show them in customized manner (i.e. it displays the same content in a different way). Basically, I create XMLHttpRequest object and then req.open("GET", web_page_address, false); req.send(""); This gives me (in firefox) an error: Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Access to restricted URI denied" code: "1012" nsresult: "0x805303f4 (NS_ERROR_DOM_BAD_URI)" I already googled, and looked at SO but all other issues are very similar with those two exceptions: the file I open in firefox is a local file, opened directly in browser -- I don't have www server running at localhost I don't have any control over the web pages I am reading stuff from So, several solutions I've seen so far (like adding PHP proxy, changing the way external server sends data) cannot be applied here. What else can be done in such case? Another story is I am wondering if such strict security for directly local file has any sense. Thank you in advance for tips/links/etc. Have a nice day!

We've considered using a StringBuilder or the Response Stream but it seems quite 'noisy'. Using string.format starts to become difficult to comprehend. 2) How would you go about unit testing this code? It seems a little amateur just doing a string comparison looking for particular output in the string. 3) What about actually testing the eventual JavaScript output? Thanks for your input!

• Facebook, Yimg and google-analytics CDNs is freaking me out

  Hi, Its been a couple of weeks that some sites just keeps on hanging. e.g. Facebooks = static.ak.fbcdn.net FLicker = l.yimg.com GoogleAnalytics I've googled and found many problems like this and some answers which are outdated or just doesn't solve the problem. I did: Cookies clearing, ran cc cleaner and several other nifty methods. None solved my problem?? Only with facebook, if I enter https:// manually instead of http:// on every url on facebook, it works and when it does the redirection to http://, everytime I have to type 's' on the address bar to make it https:// It is driving me nuts coz I'm developing Facebook App and this problem in being pain in my ass. What might be the reason for these CDNs hanging behaviour?? • Using diff and patch to force one local code base to look like another

  I've noticed this strange behavior of diff and patch when I've used them to force one code base to be identical to another. Let's say I want to update update_me to look identical to leave_unchanged. I go to update_me. I run a diff from leave_unchanged to update_me. Then I patch the diff into update_me. If there are new files in leave_unchanged, patch asks me if my patch was reversed! If I answer yes, it deletes the new files in leave_unchanged. Then, if I simply re-run the patch, it correctly patches update_me. Why does patch try to modify both leave_unchanged and update_me? What's the proper way to do this? I found a hacky way which is to replace all +++ lines with nonsense paths so patch can't find leave_unchanged. Then it works fine. • Debugging fortran code in Eclipse with Photran and GDB debugger: missing symbols

  I have a program, written in fortran90, previously successfully compiled on a compaq compiler and working, that I'm now trying to compile with gfortran. I can compile the code to an .exe and run it. It works fine until a certain point in the routine and then an error is thrown. My current configuration: Windows 7 Eclipse Juno with CDT Photran Cygwin installation with gfortran compiler and GDB debugger (gdb.exe) Configurations for the debugger: GDB command set: Standard (Windows) Protocol: mi Shared libraries: don't load shared library symbols automatically (when activating this, no changes are noted). When running the debug command I get the following output: .gdbinit: No such file or directory. Reading symbols from /cygdrive/c/Users/thys/Documents/doctoraat/12_in progress/Hamfem/Debug/Hamfem.exe...done. auto-solib-add on Undefined command: "auto-solib-add". Try "help". Warning: C:/Users/thys/Documents/doctoraat/12_in progress/Hamfem/Hamfem/in: No such file or directory. [New Thread 5816.0x1914] [New Thread 5816.0x654] Basicly that leaves me with 2 questions: Where can I find the .gdbinit file in the cygwin installation? Are there any other possible errors in my setup, or points to think about?

• File Locked by Services (after service code reading the text file)

  I have a windows services written in C# .NET. The service is running on a internal timer, every time the interval hits, it will go and try to read this log file into a String. My issue is every time the log file is read, the service seem to lock the log file. The lock on that log file will continue until I stop the windows service. At the same time the service is checking the log file, the same log file needs to be continuously updated by another program. If the file lock is on, the other program could not update the log file. • Optimzing TSQL code

  My job is the maintain one application which heavy use SQL server (MSSQL2005). Until now middle server stores TSQL codes in XML and send dynamic TSQL queries without using stored procs. As I am able change those XML queries I want to migrate most of my queries to stored procs. Question is folowing: Most of my queries have same Where conditions against one table Sample: Select ..... from .... where .... and (a.vrsta_id = @vrsta_id or @vrsta_id = 0) and (a.podvrsta_id = @podvrsta_id or @podvrsta_id = 0) and (a.podgrupa_2 = @podgrupa2_id or @podgrupa2_id = 0) and ( (a.id in (select art_id from osobina_veze where podosobina_id in (select ado from dbo.fn_ado_param_int(@podosobina)) group by art_id having count(art_id)= @podosobina_count )) or ('0' = @podosobina) ) They also have same where conditions on other table. How I should organize my code ? What is proper way ? Should I make table valued function that I will use in all queries or use #Temp tables and simple inner join my query to that each time when proc executing? or use #temp filed by table valued function ? or leave all queries with this large where clause and hope that index is going to do their jobs. or use WITH(statement)
