• Using socat to exec php cli

  There are multiple client programs that periodically connect to a port on my server and send a single line of text. When a connection to the port is made I need to start a PHP CLI script that processes the data. There may be many of the remote scripts running/connecting at more or less the same time so I think it would be best if socat forked a process for each connection to run the script. I've gotten socat to do most of what I need, using the command socat tcp-l:myport,fork exec:mypath/socatTest.php I can read the input on php://stdIn. All is good. The problem is that the process doesn't seem to fork, so if a second external program sends data while another is doing the same it gets a connection refused error. Where have I gone wrong?

• iPhone SDK: problem managing orientation with multiple view controllers.

  I'm trying to build an iPhone application that has two subviews in the main window. Each view has its own UIViewController subclass associated with it. Also, within each controller's implementation, I've added the following method: -(BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation: (UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return YES; } Thus, I would expect both of the views to respond to changes in orientation. However, this is not the case. Only the first view added to the app's main window responds to orientation. (If I swap the order the views are added, then only the other view responds. In other words, either will work--but only one at a time.) Why is this? Is it not possible to handle the orientation changes of more than one view? Thanks! EDIT: Someone else had this question, so I'm copying my solution here: I was able to address this issue by providing a root view and a root view controller with the method "shouldAutoRotate..." and adding my other views as subviews to the root view. The subviews inherit the auto-rotating behavior, and their associated view controllers shouldn't need to override "shouldAutoRotate..."

• Can't connect to memcached

  We currently have memcached running on CentOS. None of our PHP applications can connect, have tried multiple applications trying to establish access. The most informative PHP error we get is: "Memcache::get() [function.Memcache-get]: Server 127.0.0.1 (tcp 11211) failed with: Permission denied (13) in /var/www/.." memcached 1.4.5 PECL 2.25 We can telnet and it works. IP tables is full access from lo to lo. We've tried this on two different servers with both compiled version and the rpm in CentOS 5.5 and get the same result. Is there anything fairly obvious that we are missing?

  Hi, I am having trouble implementing mipmapping in OpenGL. I am using OpenFrameworks and have modified the ofTexture class to support the creation and rendering of mipmaps. However, I do not see any difference. The scene I render consists of "flat, square tiles" at z=0. It's basically a 2D scene. I zoom in and out by using "glScale()" before drawing the tiles. My question is: since I do not move the camera position, but only use scaling of the whole scene, does this mean OpenGL can not decide on the appropriate mipmap level and uses the full texture size (level 0)? • HTML5 on iPhone Safari - data stored by localStorage does not always persist. Why?

  Hi, I write a simple iPhone web app using HTML5's localStorage. Tests on a 2G device show that data stored using localStorage does not persist after the Safari process is killed although the opened Safari windows are remembered. The data is also lost in a case where I am on a different site on a different Safari window, then I change the window to where the web app in subject is shown. When Safari loads the page it automatically refreshes the page. Then the data is lost.   I would like to use Esper to generate episodes of events. I am trying to detect the changes in robot movement during each time period and was wondering what would be the best way of implementation. The rules for generation of episodes from the events would be If the new event time(eg. 7sec, robot A) of a robot is more than 3 sec than the latest event(eg. 3 sec, robot A) of the same robot, the new event belongs to a new episode. Each episode should represent only one robot (eg. 2sec, robotA and 3sec, robotB should output 2 episodes) Input data: Event Time Robot Position 1 1 A 0 2 2 A 1 3 6 A 2 Output data should be: Array[0]={Event 1,Event 2} Array[1]={Event 3} //more than 3 sec Input data: Event Time Robot Position 1 1 A 0 2 2 A 1 3 4 B 0 4 6 A 2 Output data should be: Array[0]={Event 1,Event 2} Array[1]={Event 3} //different robot Array[2]={Event 4} Please help provide suggestions. I have tried using mulitple listeners, one for each robot, to create episodes and it works but I am trying to use a single EPL statement to do it. I have tried win:time_accum(3sec) group by robot but the second example output: Array[0]={Event 1,Event 2, Event 4} Array[1]={Event 3} as the time window is shifted everytime an event comes in, the system still thinks that event 4 is less than 3 sec due to event 3. how do I create a unique time window for each robot? • Other computer can't connect to MySQL Database

  I have a VB .NET program the uses a MySQL database. It works when the computer that has WAMP installed is the one running the program. The same program now displays an Unhandled Exception error when the computer it's running on does not have WAMP installed (and running). The only thing that is installed is the MySQL connecter net. How can I make this work? I have already tried opening port 20 by configuring the firewall. I did this for both TCP and UDP.

• Testing paginated UIScrollView on iPad

  I'm creating a magazine reader (something like iGizmo on iPad). I have two scrollviews one that paginate over articles and second to paginate inside of an article through pages. I'd like to check memory usage of my app after scrolling through 20 pages. To do so I decided to create an automated ui test that scrolls 20 times right and the check the memory foot print at the end of the test. I need that info to have some metrics before I start optimizing the memory usage And Here is the thing: I can't make the ui automation to pass to the second page. My automation code looks like that: var window = UIATarget.localTarget().frontMostApp().mainWindow(); var articleScrollView = window.scrollViews()[0]; articleScrollView.scrollRight(); // do you know any command to wait until first scrolls ends? articleScrollView.scrollRight(); // this one doesn't work I guess that I need to wait for the first scorlling to end before I can run another one, but I don't know how to do that as each page is just an image. (I don't have anything else on pages yet) Any idea?

• iptables redirect single website traffic to port 8080

  My goal is to be able to make a connection to one, and only one, website through a proxy. Everything else should be dropped. I have been able to do this successfully without a proxy with this code: ./iptables -I INPUT 1 -i lo -j ACCEPT ./iptabels -A OUTPUT -p udp --dport 53 -j ACCEPT ./iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d www.website.com --dport 80 -j ACCEPT ./iptables -A INPUT -m conntrack --cstate ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT ./iptables -P INPUT DROP ./iptables -P OUTPUT DROP How could I do the same thing except redirect the traffic to port 8080 somewhere? I've been trying to redirect in the PREROUTING chain in the nat table. I'm unsure if this is the proper place to do that tho. Thanks for your help!

• Need a Java based interruptible timer thread

  I have a Main Program which is running a script on the target device(smart phone) and in a while loop waiting for stdout messages. However in this particular case, some of the heartbeat messages on the stdout could be spaced almost 45secs to a 1minute apart. something like: stream = device.runProgram(RESTORE_LOGS, new String[] {}); stream.flush(); String line = stream.readLine(); while (line.compareTo("") != 0) { reporter.commentOnJob(jobId, line); line = stream.readLine(); } So, I want to be a able to start a new interruptible thread after reading line from stdout with a required a sleep window. Upon being able to read a new line, I want to be able to interrupt/stop(having trouble killing the process), handle the newline of stdout text and restart a process. And it the event I am not able to read a line within the timer window(say 45secs) I want to a way to get out of my while loop either. I already tried the thread.run, thread.interrupt approach. But having trouble killing and starting a new thread. Is this the best way out or am I missing something obvious?

  I have setup a UITabBarController with two tabs, one is a simple UIViewController and the other is a UINavigationController using second UIViewController as its rootController to set up a UITableView. My question is with regard to naming the tabs (i.e. UITabBarItem) For the first tab (simple UIViewController) I have added the following (see below) to the controllers -init method. - (id)init { self = [super init]; if(self) { UITabBarItem *tabBarItem = [self tabBarItem]; [tabBarItem setTitle:@"ONE"]; } return self; } For the other tab I have added (see below) to the second controllers init (rootController). - (id)init { self = [super init]; if(self) { UITabBarItem *tabBarItem = [[self navigationController] tabBarItem]; [tabBarItem setTitle:@"TWO"]; } return self; } Am I setting the second tabBarItem title in the right place as currently it is not showing? • Making a visual bar timer for iPhone

  I've looked up all results for progress bars and changing the width of an image but it only refers to scaling, and the progress bars aren't customizable so that they fit other functions or design schemes... unless I missed that part. I'm trying to make a bar timer that crops off of the right over a period of time. I tried using an NStimer so that it would subtract from a value each time its function is called. the Timerbar function gets called as a result of another timer invalidating and it works. What doesn't work is that the width isn't changing just the position. further more I keep getting values like Inf and 0 for power and pwrBarWidth I was sure that the changes would occur when Mult was plugged into the equation. it seems like casting mult as an int is causing problems but i'm not sure exactly how. int pwrBarMaxWidth = 137; int pwrBarWidth 0; int limit = 1; float mult; float power = 0; -(void) Timerbar:(NSTimer *)barTimer { if(!waitForPlayer) { [barTimer invalidate]; } if(mult > 0.0) { mult -= 0.001 * [colorChoices count]; if(mult < 0.0) { mult = 0.0; } } power = (mult * 10) / pwrBarMaxWidth; pwrBarWidth = (int)power % limit; // causes the bar to repeat after it reaches a certain point //At this point however the variable Power is always "inf" and PwrBarWidth is always 0. • Detectig by how much user has scrolled

  I have an image pop-up ability on my website (see this screenshot), in order to show users the full resolution picture when they click on a smaller version on the page. This is the current CSS that positions it: div#enlargedImgWrapper { position: absolute; top: 30px; left: 55px; z-index: 999; } The problem now is that if I click on an image further down the page, the window still appears in the top left corner of the page, where I can't see it until I scroll back up. I need it to appear relative to the window, whatever its current position relative to the document is. Note: I don't want to use position: fixed; as some images might be taller than the screen, so I want users to be able to scroll along the image as well. My idea was to use JS to change the top value: var scrollValue = ???; document.getElementById('enlargedImgWrapper').style.top = scrollValue+30 + 'px'; How can I detect by how much the user has scrolled down the page (var scrollValue)? Or is there a 'better' way to do this? Thanks!

  I would like to know if there is a utility to verify the checksums of every windows file on my Win 7 Ultimate system. It seems on the surface such an obvious utility but I dont ever remember seeing one? I had a very weird experience while surfing earlier today and now Im not entirely sure my system is secure. I have a collection of tools in the WSCC suite but these tools no doubt just make system calls to the win32 api and if that has been subverted then the tools are practically useless. How do I know my Win 7 files are actually Win 7 files? I am particularly interested in verifying the integrity of all network TCP/IP files.

  We are configuring a linux box that will act as internet gateway for an office of 30-50 computers. We are using iptables/HTB for traffic shaping. Is there a way to match traffic on L7 level? It's easy to identify traffic by TCP/UDP ports (like SIP and HTTP). But what if we are dealing with Skype & BitTorent? It was surprise for me that there is no powerful and matured sulution for tasks like this. I found only l7-filter (http://l7-filter.clearfoundation.com/) patch for the Linux kernel, but it's no longer supported (it seems to). Moreover it couldn't be compiled with modern Linux kernels. The only option I found was to use a Cisco router. Are there other ways to identify and shape Skype and Bittorent traffic?

  I have network IPP working on Ubuntu and Windows XP. On my Windows 7 instance, it refuses to acknowledge the remote server connection. Can anyone suggest how to configure this correctly? My install steps are: Add Printer Add a Local Printer Create a New Port and "Standard TCP/IP Port" Enter hostname http://host:631/printers/Printer_Name After that it says the printer is not detected, asks me to pick a driver, and finish up. Trying to use the device does not produce any output? If anyone has got this work, I would really appreciate a fix.

• Preventing a child process (HandbrakeCLI) from causing the parent script to exit

  I have a batch conversion script to turn .mkvs of various dimensions into ipod/iphone sized .mp4s, cropping/scaling to suit. Determining the original dimensions, required crop, output file is all working fine. However, on successful completion of the first conversion, HandbrakeCLI causes the parent script to exit. • How to access vm inside a vm via VNC?

  For some reasons I installed virtual machines inside a virtual machine, like this: A( B( C )) where A is the physical machine, B is a vm and the network type is NAT. And C is also a virtual machine and the network type is bridged. The OSes are Ubuntu 12.04 and the hypervisors are kvm. I can access B via VNC and via ssh from A, but for C I can't use ssh because C has no IP address at the start. And I assume I can only access C via VNC. I tried something like(on A): iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -d $ip-of-A -p tcp --dport 6500 -j DNAT --to-destination $ip-of-B:5900 (I referred to this) But it doesn't work. And I'm reading the man pages of iptables and hope someone could help :)

• How do you make an added row from QueryAddRow() the first row of the result from a query?

  I am outputting a query but need to specify the first row of the result. I am adding the row with QueryAddRow() and setting the values with QuerySetCell(). I can create the row fine, I can add the content to that row fine. If I leave the argument for the row number off of QuerySetCell() then it all works great as the last result of the query when output. However, I need it to be first row of the query but when I try to set the row attribute with the QuerySetCell it just overwrites the first returned row from my query (i.e. my QueryAddRow() replaces the first record from my query). What I currently have is setting a variable from recordCount and arranging the output but there has to be a really simple way to do this that I am just not getting. • View isn't scrolling back down after I dismiss the keyboard

  I have a Tab Bar app. One of the views has a UITextView that is hidden by the keyboard when touched. I've set the view to scroll to account for the keyboard but it the view doesn't always return to it's original position after I dismiss the keyboard. Our 'master.cf' contains: 2526 inet n - - - 0 cleanup This is necessary because we have a cluster of SMTP servers running custom code, and they can all inject mail to the centralized postfix server via the cleanup daemon. However, we want to allow only our authorized servers to connect to the cleanup daemon. The current configuration allows any host to connect to port 2526. Clearly we can use iptables to restrict access, but is there a way to do this within postfix itself?

In this situation, I have pre-defined windows at intervals of 100bp and I'm trying to calculate how much of each window is covered by the annotations in mylist. Through some profiling, I can see that the bottleneck is in the for loops, but my clumsy attempt to vectorize it using *apply functions resulted in code that runs an order of magnitude more slowly. I suppose I could write something in C, but I'd like to avoid that if possible. Can anyone suggest another approach that will speed this calculation up?

• DataTrigger not reevaluating after property changes

  I have a listbox which has its itemssource (this is done in the code behind on as the window is created) databound to an observable collection. The List box then has the following data template assigned against the items: usercontrol.xaml ... <ListBox x:Name="communicatorListPhoneControls" ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource templateForCalls}"/> ... app.xaml ... <Style x:Key="templateForCalls" TargetType="{x:Type ListBoxItem}"> <Setter Property="ContentTemplate" Value="{StaticResource templateRinging}"/> <Style.Triggers> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding Path=hasBeenAnswered}" Value="True"> <Setter Property="ContentTemplate" Value="{StaticResource templateAnswered}"/> </DataTrigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> ... When the observable collection is updated with an object, this appears in the listbox with the correct initial datatemplate, however when the "hasBeenAnswered" property is set to true (when debugging i can see the collection is correct) the datatrigger does not re-evaluate and then update the listbox to use the correct data template. I have implemented the INotifyPropertyChanged Event in my object, and if in the template i bind to a value, i can see the value update. Its just that the datatrigger will not re-evaluate and change to the correct template. I know the datatrigger binding is correct because if i close the window and open it again, it will correctly apply the second datatemplate, because the "hasBeenAnswered" is set to True.
