  • When creating a dialog with jquery, how do I hide the dialog div?

    I am creating a dialog like in this page: http://jqueryui.com/demos/dialog/#modal-confirmation (click view source) on the bottom is the div that gets placed in the dialog. The dialog works perfect when called by the javascript but the dialog is apparent at the bottom of the page when it loads. (minus all the styling that gets applied when it is called by the javascript function) How can I hide the div and still allow the dialog to use it? I have tried setting style="visibility:hidden" but that prevents it from being shown when called by the javascript.

  • Issue with jQuery ajax post (working with get). error 12031

    hi, UPDATE: I didn't set the response mimetype to 'application/json'. It works now. In the website I'm working on (http://piem.org:8000/) I've got an issue with an ajax post request. Every time the search button is clicked or the google maps 'idle' is triggered I send a request to get some data. While the request works as expected in most cases, it returns an error when I click a result and come back to the search page. (type 'barcelona' in the search box to get the unique restaurant in the db). The server processes the request properly but it seems that the error occurs when the javascript receives it (it returns a "12031" error code). It works properly with FF 3.0.6, IE 8.0 and Chrome 5.0 with GET, and with FF with both POST and GET. Anybody can help? thanks jul

    Here are my anchors, <a ID="lnkbtn0" class="page-numbers" href="#">1</a> <a ID="lnkbtn1" class="page-numbers" href="#">2</a> <a ID="lnkbtn2" class="page-numbers" href="#">3</a> <a ID="lnkbtn3" class="page-numbers" href="#">4</a> And my click function i am adding a cssclass to show that it is the current anchor $("a.page-numbers").click(function() { $(this).addClass('page-numbers current'); }); What happens is when i click the next anchor the same class has been added to the current and the previous anchor... What can be done to remove the cssclass page-numbers current and assign cssclass page-numbers to the previous/all other anchors without changing the current one....

  • jQuery - Not sure which method to use, closest() and parent() don't work.

    Hello, again. :) God i feel like i'm spamming stackoverflow, this is my 3rd post for today. Sorry, heh. I even posted a question regarding this before, kind of, but i've changed the code a bit since so i thought it was better to post a new question. $('.pmlist ul li h4 .toggle').click(function() { $(this).closest('.meddel').toggle(250); }); That's what i've got now. The reason why the closest() method isn't working is because the div .meddel is just next to the h4 element. And closest() only crawls right up the DOM tree, ignoring other child elements. Right? parent() works almost the same and doesn't work either. And as i only want to toggle the closest .meddel div in the element, i need something that, yeah justs grabs the nearest one, and not all of them. To clear it up a bit, here's the HTML for one list item: <li class="item"> <h4><a class="toggle">ämne</a><small>2010-04-17 kl 12:54 by <u>nike1</u></small></h4> <div class="meddel"> <span> <img style="max-width: 70%; min-height: 70%;" src="profile-images/nike1.jpg" alt="" /> <a href="account.php?usr=47">nike1</a> </span> <p>text</p> </div> </li> I have several items like that, and if i click one toggle link, i just want the nearest .meddel to be toggled, as mentioned before.   • jQuery: How can I check if a block in my document is inside the viewport or outside of it?

    I am basically trying to trigger a function if the footer is inside the viewport. How can I check whether the footer is currently visible in the viewport? I assume I will have to put it into the $(window).scroll() event so that the listener becomes true once the footer becomes visible but what the function should be I just can't figure out. We all know the power of jQuery in UI manipulations. The latest news from Microsoft about jQuery being officially part of .Net developr’s toolkit will definitely make jQuery a preferred choice against other JavaScript libraries [See link: http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2008/09/28/jquery-and-microsoft.aspx]. But on the other hand, GWT is building a framework which could be used on client as well as on the sever side.   • slide animation skipped when using updatepanel callback

    Hey, I'm trying to use UpdatePanels and JQuery but the panels seem to cancel out the JQuery. I want the user to press the search button, have the system perform the search using AJAX and then display the search results by sliding down the div using JQuery. However, it seems that if there are any delays, (I put the thread to sleep for a second), then the results just appear instead of sliding down. If I remove the sleep thread the sliding animation is fine. I've got the code below to execute the JQuery once the AJAX is loaded: <script type="text/javascript"> var prm = Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance(); prm.add_pageLoaded(showDiv); function showDiv(sender, args){ $("#results_bar").slideDown('slow'); } </script> Any ideas why the animation is skipped if there's a delay?     I have a function that sums a column of data in an html table. It does so admirably only I would like to have it put the commas in there that are needed to separate the thousands. Initially, you'll note, there are commas in the numbers being added. So that the function will add them, they are removed.   • jQuery live() ... have to click twice to activate links?

    I have the following bit of code, simply: $(function() { $('a.add-photos-link').live('click', function(e) { $(this).colorbox({ overlayClose: false, onComplete: function() { $('#add_photos').submit(function(e) { // more stuff to do e.preventDefault(); }); } }); e.preventDefault(); }); }); However, this only seems to work after single-clicking on the link TWICE. These links are dynamically added to the page (a.add-photos-link). Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it so it fires after the first single-click?

    I'm sure we've all done this before: <a id="232" rel="link_to_user" name="user_details" class="list hoverable clickable selectable"> USER #232 </a> But then we say, oh my, I need more ways to store tracking info about this div! <a id="232-343-22" rel="link_to_user:fotomeshed" name="user_details" class="groupcolor-45 elements-698 list hoverable clickable selectable"> User: John Doe </a> And the sickness keeps growing. We just keep on packing it inside that poor little element and it's attributes. All so we can keep track of who it is. So with my limited knowledge of JS, someone please tell me how to do something like this: <a id="33">USER #33</a> $(#33).attr({title:'User Record','username':'john', 'group_color':'green', 'element_num':78}); So here we just added what I would call invisible attributes, because we just played God and made those attributes up on the fly like it was no problem. The cool part is that these would be kept in their own little object somewhere in variable land. NOT in the tag itself. Then later on, in a code nested far far away, be able to say, oh, i wonder what group_color John is... user_group_color = $(table).find(a['username':'john']).attr('group_color'); THEN BAM!!!! POW!!!! alert(user_group_color + " is a bitchin color!"); You get to know his group color... all without adding a bunch of bloated element tracking nonsense into our tags. So does this sort of thing exist? If not, how do I make it?

  • Jquery AJAX and figuring out how NOT to nest callbacks for multiple reloads.

    I have a site with a few containers that need to load content dynamically via AJAX. Most of the links inside of the containers actually load new data in that same container. I.E: $("#navmenu_item1").click(function() { $("#navmenu").load(blah); }); When I click on a link, lets say "logout," and the menu reloads with the updated login status, none of the links now work because I would need to add a new .click into the callback code. Now with repeated clicks and AJAX requests I am not sure how to move forward from here, as I am sure nested callbacks are not optimal. What would be the best way to do this? Do I include the .click event inside the actual AJAX file being pulled from the server, instead of within index.php? Or can I somehow reload the DOM? Thanks for the help!

  • Jquery Internet Explorer 8 compatibility issue, does not load data unless history is deleted...

    Hey guys, I have a weird problem. I have an update system that refreshes data on a time interval. It works well in all browsers except internet explorer 8. The problem is that once it loads the data, it does not matter if the data updates further, it will not update the data visually until the internet history is cleared. I am not using any cookies server-side...Anyone ever encounter something like this?     I have tons of ajax components on this booking engine. I need to customize the text inside of the modal for each of the components to suite. I added: $('#loader').bind('ajaxStart', function() { $(this).show().addClass('modalOpen'); }).bind('ajaxComplete', function() { $(this).removeClass('modalOpen').hide() }); Is there some advanced way of changing the text inside of the loading element before I do separate .ajax calls?     I am trying to remove the last <li> element from a <ul> element only if it exceeds a particular length. For this, I am doing something like this: var selector = "#ulelement" if($(selector).children().length > threshold) { $(selector + " >:last").remove(); } I don't like the fact that I have to use the selector twice. Is there a shorter way to do this? Something like a "remove-if-length-greater-than-threshold" idea. I was thinking that maybe there is a way to do this using the live() function but I have no idea how.
