• How to sort numbers in array from low to high

  Hello all, I am trying to sort an array of prices from low to high. I have it working but not the way I want it to. • Samsung Galaxy Tab 1 layout problems

  I'm having trouble running my app on the Galaxy tab original 7". It appears to make everything 1.5 times bigger, i.e. if I specify 40dip for a textSize in my layout, it will display as 60 dip when I run it on the tablet. I tried messing around with the display metrics and changing the density and densityDpi to 1. (When I run a toString of the display metrics in the Galaxy tab 2, they are both 1, whereas the Galaxy tab 1 has values of 1.5) The app runs very well on every phone I've tested it on, and on the Galaxy tab 2, so I can't figure out what the problem is. I even tried creating a dummy app with just a textView with a size of 40dip, and it still converted it to 60. Any ideas? Thanks.

• Missing something with Entity Framework for .NET 3.5?

  Is it not possible to have EF create the necessary entities when I have two related tables linked with a FK in .NET3.5SP1? I see where the checkbox to support this is disabled but it is available in .NET4. I've got a DB that has only tables with relationships in it. I need to build a Silverlight app (SL4) that allows management of the data within this app. I can't use .NET4 on the server... only .NET3.5SP1 so FK relationship bit in EF4 isn't available to me. Looking to avoid building as much of the plumbing to get back to the DB from the SL4 app as possible...

• jquery not working in mvc after publishing to server

  Hello, I've built an mvc application which contains some jquery code. When I run the app from my ide, everything works perfectly. When I publish to the server and open the page, the jquery does not work. I get object expected errors. Could this be due to my file mappings? here is a sample of my mapping in the app - <script type="text/javascript" href="../../Scripts/jquery-1.3.2.js"></script> I published the app to iis7 successfully, but the jquery is broken. I did publish to an application within an existing web site. Any thoughts?

• Teamcity and Grails

  Hi there, My current requirement is: I have to package my grails app and use teamcity for continuous build. The only problem is the build agents don't have groovy and grails installed (don't ask why) I want to package my app with Groovy and Grails directories and check in Git. So that there is no dependency. And the package has everything to run the app. Can anybody please help. Please let me know if you want me to rephrase my question.

• debugging JBoss 100% CPU usage

  We are using JBoss to run two of our WARs. One is our web app, the other is our web service. The web app accesses a database on another machine and makes requests to the web service. The web service makes JMS requests to other machines, aggregates the data, and returns it. At our biggest client, about once a month the JBoss Java process takes 100% of all CPUs. The machine running JBoss has 8 CPUs. Our web app is still accessible during this time, however pages take about 3 minutes to load. Restarting JBoss restores everything to normal. The database machine and all the other machines are fine, only the machine running JBoss is affected. Memory usage is normal. Network utilization is normal. There are no suspect error messages in the JBoss logs. I have set up a test environment as close as possible to the client's production environment and I've done load testing with as much as 2x the number of concurrent users. I have not gotten my test environment to replicate the problem. Where do we go from here? How can we narrow down the problem? Currently the only plan we have is to wait until the problem occurs in production on its own, then do some debugging to determine the cause. So far people have just restarted JBoss when the problem occurred to minimize down time. Next time it happens they will get a developer to take a look. The question is, next time it happens, what can be done to determine the cause? We could setup a separate JBoss instance on the same box and install the web app separately from the web service. This way when the problem next occurs we will know which WAR has the problem (assuming it is our code). This doesn't narrow it down much though. Should I enable JMX remote? This way the next time the problem occurs I can connect with VisualVM and see which threads are taking the CPU and what the hell they are doing. However, is there a significant down side to enabling JMX remote in a production environment? Is there another way to see what threads are eating the CPU and to get a stacktrace to see what they are doing? Any other ideas? Thanks!

• Cocoa Launch agent registering itself after installation.

  I have created Cocoa app which is type of launch agent. To distribute this I have created package as well which installs the app and copies the launchagnet plist file in /Libraries/LaunchAgents. Now the problem is after installation i want this app to be running in user context immediately without logoff/restart. If I register this with "launchctl" from installer, using post install script, it run in root context, as installer is running in root context. Any suggestion how the agent registers itself to launchctl and runs in user context.

  I am having this unexplained NoMethodError with undefined method `events' for #. I don't know why since my model association are well defined and the event table has the foreign keys for the user table. Here is my directory: C:\\ xampp htdocs ibm2(a test project--orginally called cakephp) app cake vendors (etc) It says to To use Bake, cd into the /webroot/app directory and launch the Cake Console: ../cake/console/cake bake. You should be presented with a screen that looks like Figure 2. So I write in my command prompt till I am at: C:\xampp\htdocs\ibm2\app Then I type ../cake/console/cake bake but I get this error: '..' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. What am I doing wrong? I use the window's command prompt

  I'm working on updating an old app. It has some dependency files that live in the same directory as the app. Obviously this broke when Windows Vista came out (since it violates the API and Vista/7 now enforce that (XP didn't)). Ideally, I'd like to avoid hardcoding anything into the app for just Windows. I can live with that if I have to though. I've already been down that path with pulling the APPDATA and LOCALAPPDATA environment variables, but that doesn't help any since they just give you the current user area... I need these to live somewhere accessible for all users, and I'd like to obey the Windows API expectations that they go into the all user appdata area. Suggestions?

• how to protect an imported win32 dll into a .net application from memory issues

  I have a c# application that needs to use a legacy win32 dll. The dll is almost its own app, it has dialogs, operations with hardware, etc. When this dll is imported and used, there are a couple of problems that occur: Dragging a dialog (not a windows system dialog, but one created by the dll) across the managed code app causes the UI to not repaint. Further it generates a system out of memory exception from various ui controls. The performance is incredibly slow. There seems to be no way to unload the dll so the memory never gets cleaned up. When we close our managed app, we get another memory exception. • How can an Android Service know that its not bound to any Activities

  I have an Android Service that I would like to keep running even after the last Activity has been popped off the stack, or the User has chosen to do something else. Essentially the Service is listening for changes on a remote server, and I would like to generate a Notification if and only if an Activity from the app isn't running(or visible). In other words, I don't want the Notifications to occur while the User is directly interacting with the app. In the case where the User is directly interacting with the app, the Service will notify the Activity and update appropriate UI elements based on the changes. I plan to implement this through the Observer pattern. How can the Service know if none of apps Activities are bound to it? Thanks, J

• Under what circumstances would a Ruby $LOAD_PATH be acquired from a parent process?

  In my cucumber scenarios, if I call rake db:schema:load within a target Rails app folder, I get the cucumber process's $LOAD_PATH and not the Rails app's own Gemfile/load path. I think this is very weird. The consequence is that I get the following error: no such file to load -- rails/all I can't reproduce it outside of my cucumber scenario. ruby -rubygems -e "system 'rake -T'" works normally - the 'rake -T' has the application's own Gemfile-based $LOAD_PATH; and doesn't generate the error above. Can anyone think why a child process (rake -T or rake db:schema:load or rails runner...; invoked by either system, exec, %x[...] or backtick; would start with the parent processes' $LOAD_PATH (from the cucumber scenario's Gemfile) instead of its own $LOAD_PATH (from the Rails app's Gemfile)?

• Existing SQL database android help

  Hey guys, I am new to android programming and i am trying to make an app that will interface with a website i have. It is a movie website with all of its information stored in SQL database. I know how to write the requests and queries in .asp but dont know how to get information from the database in my app. I want the user to be able to enter a movie title, and through a couple of stored procedures that are in my SQL database, return the info on that movie(actor, budget, genre....). I would like to have little info stored on the device, have all of the queries being sent to my SQL server and just have the info being returned.   We have a PHP web app running on a customer's machine. For an update, we have a bit of code in C that we'd like to include as a native opaque library along with the PHP web app. How does one go about calling a C/C++ lib. function from PHP? It cannot be assumed that the PHP app, called by the web server, has any sort of permission to call an exec(), eval(), or system() type of function to execute a C wrapper driver which in turn uses the C/C++ library, so it would need to be a direct C library use from within the PHP code.

• How to Prevent Spotlight from Indexing Non-Apps in /Applications Directory?

  The only thing I need indexed in the /Applications folder are the .app files. Is there any way to setup a filter to have mds or Spotlight ignore everything in /Applications except .apps? Otherwise, would it be possible to setup a rule for Alfred to omit any non-.app records from /Applications? I still want documents indexed and returned, just not from that specific directory. OS X 10.6.8 if you're wondering.

  Is there any way I can load a class based on what version of the OS the phone is running? For example: I made an app which requires 1.6+ Android. Is there a way for me to load one class or the other based on what OS the phone is running? I'm asking this specifically for contacts. The database was changed from 1.6 to 2.0 and the old version doesn't retrieve contacts on the new OS phone. I'd still like to keep my 1.6 requirement, but at the same time I'd like 2.0+ phones to access the contact part of the app. So can I make 2 APIs, somehow pack them with the app and decide on the fly which I choose to import?

  In my winform app in VB.NET i want to use the localization option. But i have a few questions/problems. I'm using a menu strip to select an other language. But it seems that is doesn't change my menustip text to my selected language. It does change my labels, buttons, and textboxes but menu strips doesnt seem to change when i choose an other language. Also is it possible to get those resx files such as MyForm.fr-FR.resx compiled so it isn't an external file outside my app? Or to get those files in an Language folder at the same location of my app, so i don't have all those fr-FR, nl-Nl folders in the same location as my program.

• Icon backdrop on Samsung Galaxy S? how to change this?

  Hi all, I see a backdrop being added to my launch icon on the Samsung Galaxy S devices. I need this backdrop changed to a custom backdrop which we created. I know this can be changed since apps like"Daily Briefing" have their own cloud like backdrop making the launch icon look really rich. If anyone does know how to change this backdrop please let me know. I am talking about the background image set behind the icons. Eg: in the below image on the 1st row can you notice the yellow backdrop for Memo app, Green backdrop for Mini Diary app, similarily in the 3rd row notice the green backdrop behind the MAIL app.... The gui for the prefpane is ready, the background worker is ready, too. One of the few missing things is how to share the preferences between both apps.
