• Allowing connections initiated from outside

  I've got an old Juniper SSG5 running ScreenOS 5.4.0r6.0. Once a day, more or less, it'll start randomly dropping packets at a rate of ~5-10%. We currently solve this issue by simply rebooting the unit, after which it resumes working in perfect condition. As this error has started appearing randomly, without any configuration or hardware changes, I'm assuming I've got an aging unit about to fail. As such, I've got a replacement SSG5 running ScreenOS 6.0. I've dumped the config on the 5.4 and imported it into a clean 6.0, and it seems to gladly accept it, and all my configuration seems to be A-OK. However, upon connecting the new unit, all outside-initiated connections seem to be blocked. If I browse our external IP from the inside, everything works perfectly, and it's not just port 80, SSH, Crashplan - all of our policies route correctly. All normal networking, initiated from the inside, work perfectly as well. If on the other hand I browse our external IP from the outside, everything is blocked. Barring differences between ScreenOS 5.4 and 6.0, the config is identical.   I am using Ubuntu 9.10 and I am a bit of a robotics enthusiast. I have used KiKS (in MATLAB for simulating Khepera robots), MobotSim (in Windows, simulates a point like robot using a BASIC editor) and Player/Stage (with C/C++ on Ubuntu 9.04). My question, can MS Robotics Studio be installed in Ubuntu Linux using Wine (I am using 1.1.31) ? Has anyone done it ? Any other way to install MS Robotics Studio in Unix (Any flavour) ? • Question about MySQLdb, OS X 10.5, and authentication

  I'm a noob at Python and have been having problems with MySQLdb and OS X Leopard 10.5. I have a php app that is doing db access just fine with pdo but also want to access with Python. When I use the same credentials with MySQLdb as php, I get the following error: File "build/bdist.macosx-10.5-i386/egg/MySQLdb/connections.py", line 188, in __init__ _mysql_exceptions.OperationalError: (1045, "Access denied for user 'arc_db'@'localhost' (using password: YES)") The authentication piece works fine on my ubuntu server (installed via apt-get) implying that it is something specific to my OS X MySQLdb install. Looking at some postings, I thought it would be my local build of MySQLdb which seems to be problematic with OS X. But I am able to import fine: Python 2.5.1 (r251:54863, Feb 6 2009, 19:02:12) [GCC 4.0.1 (Apple Inc. build 5465)] on darwin Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import MySQLdb >>> Also, wanting to create a positive, I am able to access and return results from a database tilted test_something (which presumably bypasses the MySQL's authtentication - not sure exactly how though). Trying to figure out a little more what is going on, I turn on logging for mysql and get the following (added my own comments): 100609 19:09:45 3 Connect Access denied for user 'arc_db'@'localhost' (using password: YES) //not worked 100609 19:10:02 4 Connect arc_db@localhost on arc_development //did work I'm not really sure what the 3 or 4 means but presumably a sucess or failue. • Looking for an open source email archiving application

  I'm looking for an open source application that will archive my email. It might do this by logging in to my POP3 account on a regular basis and copying the emails across, or it might just read my Unix mbox/maildir file/directory directly on the mail server. It must be open and it must run on Linux (or any open OS actually). Ideally, it would have a web interface, but this is not a major requirement. MXsense (http://www.mxsense.com/mxsense.html) seems to be pretty-much what I want, except it's not open. I have no requirement for MS Exchange support. Any suggestions? The rationale (maybe a bit silly) is that I run Linux exclusively and it's still doesn't have an email client that is anywhere close to MS Outlook in terms of awesomeness, so I find myself switching between mail clients often. I would feel better about this if I had an archive of my emails, so it wouldn't matter which mail client I was using this month.

I need whenever he access Servlet A, he got created a brand new HttpSession. but unfortunately, he may access this servlet twice per session based on some scenario!! Please help.

I have a basic server/client winforms app. The app uses transactionscope to encapsulate several sql commands that are executed on the sql server. The app seemed to work fine when I enabled msdtc network access on the server only. Then one day it stopped working saying network access was not enabled. Now it seems that I have to enable msdtc network access on both the client computer and server for transactionscope to work. Does the client or server msdtc service do the transaction work? Or maybe its both? Does anyone have guidance on whether msdtc network access is needed on both client and server or just server?

This is a code written in windows form app (reader) that read the isolated storage of another win form app (writer) which is signed. where is the security if the reader can read the writer's file, I thought only signed code can access the file! If all .Net applications born equal and have all permissions to access Isolated storage, where is the security then? If I can install and run Exe from isolated storage, why I don't install a virus and run it, I am trusted to access this area. but the virus or what ever will not be trusted to access the rest of file system, it only can access the memory, and this is dangerous enough. I cannot see any difference between using app data folder to save the state and using isolated storage except a long nasty path!! • Can IIS admin change password of Windows Service account

  We have a service account defined for anonymous access which is used for several web sites hosted on the web server. This account has access to several network resources like report server, file servers and so on. While deploying a new web site, we used the same service account for anonymous access. IIS takes the username/password for the account and then a dialog opens for confirm password. Accidently, we gave a wrong password in both the text boxes, the new site with wrong password is working fine but all other previously hosted sites which were using the service account, started giving the unautorized access error. Is it possible that when we entered wrong password for the new web site, the password of the account got reset and all sites stopped functioning?

As time goes on, each process will grow in memory until each one approaches 10% of available memory, which begins to slow the server to a crawl since together they grow to take up 100% of memory. How can I track down which part of my app is causing the memory leak? What tools can I use to see how the memory usage is growing inside the httpd process and what is contributing to it?

As of now, when I open Sublime Text 2 for the first time, create a file and try to save it, the file location option defaults to: C:\Windows\System32 I would like to set the default save file location to my Desktop so that everytime I want to save a file, the File windows opens the Desktop view. (the same idea as what can be configured e.g. in MS Word / MS Excel). Thanks for any tips!

  Hi, I'm using the Google AppEngine 1.3.4 SDK which offers to allow your application to act as a OAuth service provider (http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/python/oauth/). Setting up a standard application on my localhost and using the following: Request URL /_ah/OAuthGetRequestToken Authorize URL /_ah/OAuthAuthorizeToken Access Token URL /_ah/OAuthGetAccessToken The client application just gets sent to a page requesting to grant OAuth access even though no user is logged in. Clicking 'Grant access' results in a message saying 'OAuth access granted' with no tokens or anything exchange. Can't see how this could work when it's not even prompting for a login. As this functionality is quite new I can't find much out there. I've created a OAuth provider before in Rails and know that you need a Consumer Key and Secret, something that seems to be lacking in GAE? Any ideas on how to get OAuth working in a sample GAE project are most welcome.

• Broken pipe error in rails with memcached

  I keep running into this error MemCacheError (Broken pipe): Broken pipe on my Rails app and I can't figure out why. When I access memcached via Rails.cache in my controller, the first 1 or 2 read/writes always seems to throw the broken pipe error. But when I access memcached by creating a new object, ActiveSupport::Cache::MemCacheStore.new, I don't seem to get this error. I also access memcached in another ruby process, and the first read always has this error regardless of the way I access memcached. I did implement a work around just by retrying the read but id rather have a better long term solution. Currently the only time I see this problem is after I restart memcached. I'm using Rails 2.3.5 and memcached 1.4.4 (I've also tried this with memcached 1.2.2).

  I need to access an SQL Server that is on a machine behind a firewall and you access this machine using an ip address like 95.95.95.33:6930 (not the real ip address) ... But, you get my point that by accessing 95.95.95.33 on port 6930, the firewall routes the requests to that particular machine ... My question is ... How do you construct a connection string to access the machine at address 95.95.95.33:6930 and then further access the SQL Server on port 1433 or maybe a different port like 8484 ??? Thanks Mike

  I need help setting a transparent image to the clipboard. I keep getting "handle is invalid". Following is the specific code with the complete working project at ftp://missico.net/ImageVisualizer.zip. This is an image Debug Visualizer class library, but I made to run as executable for testing. (Note that window is a toolbox window and show in taskbar is set to false.) I was tired of having to perform a screen capture on the toolbox window, open with an image editor, and then deleting the background added due to the screen capture. So I thought I would quickly put the transparent image onto the clipboard. Well, the problem is...no transparency support for Clipboard.SetImage. Google to the rescue...not quite. (Maybe someone can correct me on that). My hunch is that it could be APC, since it stores data between requests, but at the same time, it seems weird that it would store data inside the httpd process. How can I track down which part of my app is causing the memory leak? What tools can I use to see how the memory usage is growing inside the httpd process and what is contributing to it?

• Cookie won't unset

  OK, I'm stumped, and have been staring at this for hours. I'm setting a cookie at /access/login.php with the following code: setcookie('username', $username, time() + 604800, '/'); When I try to logout, which is located at /access/logout.php (and rewritten to /access/logout), the cookie won't seem to unset. I've tried the following: setcookie('username', false, time()-3600, '/'); setcookie('username', '', time()-3600, '/'); setcookie('username', '', 1, '/'); I've also tried to directly hit /access/logout.php, but it's not working. Nothing shows up in the php logs. Any suggestions? I'm not sure if I'm missing something, or what's going on, but it's been hours of staring at this code and trying to debug.
