• Uninstalling hard deleted application from Windows7

  Unfortunately, I have hard deleted the microsoft sql server folder present in program files folder. So now I need to uninstall the MSSQL server from my machine. I have tried but I got an error something like "The source folder is missing". For resolving this issue, I have manually deleted the MS SQL services using "sc delete" command and I have deleted the MSSQL entry from regedit file also. But still MS SQL server entry available in "Programs and Features" list. Please guide me for solving this issue even I can't able to re install the MSSQL server once again. Thank you guys...   I have a very simple page with a <video> tag and an email anchor link: http://jsfiddle.net/6GquX/3/ Clicking the email link in Chrome (OS X 10.8 + Win7, 23.0.1271.97) invokes the beforeunloadchange event and causes the video to unload, which isn't the desired outcome. Curiously enough, if I let the video buffer a bit and then click the email link, the video keeps playing and doesn't unload. To my knowledge this only occurs in Chrome and I'm truly at a loss. Visiting any HTML5 video player site (videojs, flowplayer etc), starting a HTML5 video and then immediately simulating an email click with document.location.href = "mailto:[email protected]" in the dev console yields the same error. However, I'm inclined to think it's the way in which the video has been encoded as I'm unable to recreate the above with a video downloaded from YouTube's HTML5 player: http://jsfiddle.net/6GquX/4/ (source) 1. Is it possible that YouTube are encoding their videos in a particular way to combat this? 2. Are there any strategies / hacks I can employ to get around this?

  I think I need some pointers on security in SQL Server. I'm trying to restrict some of our end users from getting access to certain columns (i.e. SSN) on a table. I thought I could just use column level security to restrict access to the columns. That successfully prevented users from accessing the table directly, but I was surprised that they could still get to those columns through a view that accessed that table. I followed the tips here: http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2124/filtering-sql-server-columns-using-column-level-permissions/ Those were very helpful, but when I created a view at the end, the intern was able to access that column by default I've read that views are the best way to accomplish this, but I really don't want to go through and change all of the views and the legacy front-end application. I would rather just restrict it once on the table and if a view tries to access that column it would just fail. Is that possible or am I misunderstanding how security works in SQL Server?

• Re-install (repair) Server 2012 Roles & Features

  Is there a way to re-install all Server Roles & Features in Server 2012? As far as I can see from Server Manager all that can be done is to manually remove each and then re-install but I am hoping that MS have provided some way of just repairing / re-installing all installed roles & features. Anyone know if there is a way of doing that? The reason for wanting to do this is that I have a Domain Server which after some recent MS updates has started causing numerous event log warnings & errors and has started behaving erratically. I know that System File Checker will check installed files but that will not fix any registry permissions problems, which is where I think problems have arisen. Guess what I am looking for is some way to recreate the whole registry and it's permissions but without doing a complete re-install. Thanks, Nick

  I read from < Essential ASP.NET with Examples in C# the following statement: Another useful property to know about is the static Current property of the HttpContext class. This property always points to the current instance of the HttpContext class for the request being serviced. This can be convenient if you are writing helper classes that will be used from pages or other pipeline classes and may need to access the context for whatever reason. By using the static Current property to retrieve the context, you can avoid passing a reference to it to helper classes. For example, the class shown in Listing 4-1 uses the Current property of the context to access the QueryString and print something to the current response buffer. Note that for this static property to be correctly initialized, the caller must be executing on the original request thread, so if you have spawned additional threads to perform work during a request, you must take care to provide access to the context class yourself. I am wondering about the root cause of the bold part, and one thing leads to another, here is my thoughts: We know that a process can have multiple threads. Each of these threads have their own stacks, respectively. These threads also have access to a shared memory area, the heap. The stack then, as I understand it, is kind of where all the context for that thread is stored. For a thread to access something in the heap it must use a pointer, and the pointer is stored on its stack. So when we make some cross-thread calls, we must make sure that all the necessary context info is passed from the caller thread's stack to the callee thread's stack. • Is it possible to authenticate user manually with oauth2

  I want to authenticate a user with oauth2 to access google drive. I can get the access token required when using AccountManager to retrieve an account and then get the token with: mgr.blockingGetAuthToken(account, ApiConst.DRIVE_AUTH_SCOPE, true); But I want the user to be able to authenticate by providing username and password instead of using the account added to the phone. Is this possible? EDIT So I have tried to implement the authorization in a WebView. I followed this example. I have extracted the code request parameter but the code used to retrieve the access token seems to be deprecated and not compatible with the packages used by Google Drive SDK. This is the code used to retrieve the access token in the example: AccessTokenResponse accessTokenResponse = new GoogleAuthorizationCodeGrant(new NetHttpTransport(), new JacksonFactory(), OAuth2ClientCredentials.CLIENT_ID, OAuth2ClientCredentials.CLIENT_SECRET, code, OAuth2ClientCredentials.REDIRECT_URI).execute(); Can this be done in some other way or should I just give up?

• How does java.util.Collections.contains() perform faster than a linear search?

  I've been fooling around with a bunch of different ways of searching collections, collections of collections, etc. Doing lots of stupid little tests to verify my understanding. Here is one which boggles me (source code further below). In short, I am generating N random integers and adding them to a list. The list is NOT sorted. I then use Collections.contains() to look for a value in the list. I intentionally look for a value that I know won't be there, because I want to ensure that the entire list space is probed. I time this search. I then do another linear search manually, iterating through each element of the list and checking if it matches my target. I also time this search. On average, the second search takes 33% longer than the first one. By my logic, the first search must also be linear, because the list is unsorted. The only possibility I could think of (which I immediately discard) is that Java is making a sorted copy of my list just for the search, but (1) I did not authorize that usage of memory space and (2) I would think that would result in MUCH more significant time savings with such a large N. So if both searches are linear, they should both take the same amount of time. Somehow the Collections class has optimized this search, but I can't figure out how.   I am building an autocomplete functionality for my site and the Google instant results are my benchmark. When I look at Google, the 50-60 ms response time baffle me. They look insane. In comparison here’s how mine looks like. To give you an idea my results are cached on the load balancer and served from a machine that has httpd slowstart and initcwnd fixed. My site is also behind cloudflare From a server side perspective I don’t think I can do anything more. Can someone help me take this 500 ms response time to 60ms? What more should I be doing to achieve Google level performance?

• How can I create a 4TB partition on my software RAID5 device?

  I have set up a RAID5 device with three 2TB hard drives using mdadm. The device was successfully created, but I cannot seem to create a partition on the device. When I try to make an ext3 or ext4 partition via Disk Utility, I get the following error Error creating partition: helper exited with exit code 1: In part_add_partition: device_file=/dev/md0, start=0, size=4000526106624, type= Entering MS-DOS parser (offset=0, size=4000526106624) MSDOS_MAGIC found found partition type 0xee => protective MBR for GPT Exiting MS-DOS parser Entering EFI GPT parser GPT magic found partition_entry_lba=2 num_entries=128 size_of_entry=128 Leaving EFI GPT parser EFI GPT partition table detected containing partition table scheme = 3 got it got disk new partition guid '' is not valid type '' for GPT appear to be malformed I have seen this question, but that seems to suggest using gparted to do the partitioning. I'm fine with doing that, but my RAID device doesn't show up in the list of gparted devices. I suspect because this is a RAID and not a regular disk. I have already created a GPT partition table on the device. How can I add a partition to my device?
