• VPS hang when one Virtual CPU usage is 100%

  We are using Xen Center to manage all of our cPanel VPS servers. The hardware has two CPUs(Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU [email protected]) and 32GB memory. Each hardware has 4 cPanel VPS and each VPS has 8GB memory and 4 Virtual CPUS. Every one or two months, one of the VPS server will hang because one Virtual CPU usage is 100% and it couldn't release the CPU unless we use force reboot. We have 10 similar hardware, and this cause our server down almost every day. We have tried to avoid the Statistics Processing and Fantastico update during the night, but the problem still happens randomly. I can not find anything in the server log when it hangs. Any clue? Thank you.

• Django ManyToMany Membership errors making associations

  I'm trying to have a "member admin" in which they have hundreds of members in the group. These members can be in several groups. Admins can remove access for the member ideally in the view. I'm having trouble just creating the group. I used a ManytoManyField to get started. Ideally, the "member admin" would be able to either select existing Users OR it would be able to Add/Invite new ones via email address. • Can't find momd file: Core Data problems

  Aw geez! I screwed something up! I'm a Core Data noob, working on my first iOS app. After much Stack Overflowing I'm using this code: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"CoreData" ofType:@"momd"]; if (!path) { path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"CoreData" ofType:@"mom"]; } NSAssert(path != nil, @"Unable to find Resource in main bundle"); CoreData is the name of my app. I've tried to put in initial data into the app by finding the path to the sqlite file in my iPhone simulator, and then going and inserting into that sqlite file. But at some point, I moved the sqlite (thinking it would create a fresh copy), deleted the app from the simulator, and the sqlite file is gone. I'm not sure if I'm leaving out some part of the process (this was a few hours ago) but the end result is that everything is screwed up. How do I resubstantiate this sqlite / momd file? "Clean" and "Clean all targets" are grayed out. I'm happy to post the relevant code from my app that would help shed some light on this problem but there's tons of code relating to Core Data which I don't understand, so I'm not sure what part to post! Any help is greatly appreciated.

• jQuery preventing RedirectToAction from working?

  I'm writing a preprocessor and postprocessor for Fortran input and output using FORMAT-like statements (there are reasons not to use a FORTRAN library). I want to treat the new line ("/") character correctly. I don't have a Fortran compiler immediately to hand. Is there a simple algorithm for working out how many newlines are written or consumed (This post just gives reading examples) [Please assume a FORTRAN77-like mentality in the FORTRAN code and correct any FORTRAN syntax on my part] UPDATE: no comments yet so I am reduced to finding a compiler and running it myself. • Implementing a scrabble trainer (cheater)

  Hello, I've recently been playing alot of online scrabble so I decided to make a program that quickly searches through a dictionary of 200,000+ words with an input of up to any 26 letters. My first attempt was fail as it took a while when you input 8 or more letters (just a basic look through dictionary and cancel out a letter if its found kind of thing), so I made a tree like structure containing only an array of 26 of the same structure and a flag to indicate the end of a word, doing that It can output all possible words in under a second even with an input of 26 characters. But it seems that when I input 12 or more letters with some of the same characters repeated i get duplicates; can anyone see why I would be getting duplicates with this code? (ill post my program at the bottom) Also, the next step once the duplicates are weeded out is to actually be able to input the letters on the game board and then have it calculate the best word you can make on a given board. I am having trouble trying to figure out a good algorithm that can analyze a scrabble board and an input of letters and output a result; the possible words that could be made I have no problem with but actually checking a board efficiently (ie can this word fit here, or here etc... without creating a non dictionary word in the process on some other string of letters) Anyone have a idea for an approach at that? (given a scrabble board, and an input of 7 letters, find all possible valid words or word sets that you can make) lol crap i forgot to email myself the code from my other computer thats in another state... ill post it on monday when I get back there! btw the dictionary im using is sowpods (http://www.calvin.edu/~rpruim/scrabble/ospd3.txt)

• Abstracting the interpretation of MVC checkboxes values received by the FormsCollection object

Its definitely a solution that makes you first think 'hmmmmm' but then you realize its a pretty elegant one. The problem I have is when I'm trying to parse the data on the backend. Well its not so much of a problem as a concern if anything in future were to change in the framework. If I'm using the built in binding everything is great - its all done for me. But in my case I'm dynamically generating checkboxes with unknown names and no corresponding properties in my model. So i end up having to write code like this : if (forms["List_RETAIL_NOTIFICATION"] == "true,false") { } or this: if (forms.GetValues("List_RETAIL_NOTIFICATION")[0] == "true") { } Both of which i still look at and cringe - especially since theres no guarantee this will always be the return value. I'm wondering if theres a way to access the layer of abstraction used by the model binders - or if I'm stuck with my controller 'knowing' this much about HTTP POST hacks. Yes I'm maybe being a little picky - but perhaps theres a better clever way using the model binders that I can employ to read dynamically created checkbox parameters. In addition i was hoping this this post might help others searcheing for : "true,false". Even though I knew why it does this I just forgot and it took me a little while to realize 'duh'. An example of a Fizz-Buzz question is the following: Write a program that prints the numbers from 1 to 100. But for multiples of three print "Fizz" instead of the number and for the multiples of five print "Buzz". For numbers which are multiples of both three and five print "FizzBuzz". SO I decided to test myself. I took 5 minutes in C++ and 3mins in c#! So just for fun try it and post your timings + language used! • How to run a process and completely detach it of its parent shell

  I'm running a program on a linux server that will take days to complete. I'm launching it from my workstation from an SSH terminal, as this program is command-line only. I want to be able to do all of these : launch that program, redirect standard outputs to files, exit my SSH session without making this terminate the process. I thought about $ ./MyProg.csh -params -foo -bar </dev/null 1>~/out.log 2>~/err.log & However, the process is terminated the moment I close my SSH session. My workstation is running Windows XP, and I cannot guarantee its uptime over several days, which is required for the processing of my data on the Linux server. As you may have noted, my program requires to be launched from CSH. Is it possible to do this ? Thanks.

• Is there a convenient method to pull files from a server in an SSH session?

  I often SSH into a cluster node for work and after processing want to pull several results back to my local machine for analysis. Typically, to do this I use a local shell to scp from the server, but this requires a lot of path manipulation. I'd prefer to use a syntax like interactive FTP and just 'pull' files from the server to my local pwd. Another possible solution might be to have some way to automatically set up my client computer as an ssh alias so that something like scp results home:~/results would work as expected. Is there any obscure SSH trick that'll do this for me? Working from grawity's answer, a complete solution in config files is something like local .ssh/config: Host ex HostName ssh.example.com RemoteForward 10101 localhost:22 ssh.example.com .ssh/config: Host home HostName localhost Port 10101 which lets me do commands exactly like scp results home: transferring the file results to my home machine.

Currently I have the follwing config that works: index index.php; location / { index index.php index.html index.htm; } location /joomla_1/ { try_files $uri $uri/ /joomla_1/index.php?q=$uri&$args; } location /joomla_2/ { try_files $uri $uri/ /joomla_2/index.php?q=$uri&$args; } location ~ \.php$ { fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php5-fpm/joomla.sock; ... } I'm trying to combine joomla_N rules in one: location ~ ^/(joomla_[^/]+)/ { try_files $uri $uri/ /$1/index.php?q=$uri&$args; } but server starts to return index.php as is (does not call the php-fpm). It looks like the nginx stops the processing of the regex rules after the first match. Is there any way to combine this rules with something like regex?

• mvc jquery passing form values after user presses "Accept" button

  So I have a form and a submit button that posts the form to an action. But I wanted to show a popup where the user can deny or accept an agreement.   I'm new to Django, trying to process some forms. I have this form for entering information (creating a new ad) in one template: class Ad(models.Model): ... category = models.CharField("Category",max_length=30, choices=CATEGORIES) sub_category = models.CharField("Subcategory",max_length=4, choices=SUBCATEGORIES) location = models.CharField("Location",max_length=30, blank=True) title = models.CharField("Title",max_length=50) ... I validate it with "is_valid()" just fine. Basically for the second validation (another template) I want to validate only against "category" and "sub_category": In another template, I want to use 2 fields from the same form ("category" and "sub_category") for filtering information - and now the "is_valid()" method would not work correctly, cause it validates the entire form, and I need to validate only 2 fields. I have tried with the following: ... if request.method == 'POST': # If a filter for data has been submitted: form = AdForm(request.POST) try: form = form.clean() category = form.category sub_category = form.sub_category latest_ads_list = Ad.objects.filter(category=category) except ValidationError: latest_ads_list = Ad.objects.all().order_by('pub_date') else: latest_ads_list = Ad.objects.all().order_by('pub_date') form = AdForm() ... but it doesn't work. • What happens if a server never receives the RST packet?

  Someone recently decided to show me a POC of a new Denial of Service method using SYN/TCP he's figured out. I thought it was complete nonsense, but after explaining to him about SYN-SYN/ACK-RST, he left me speechless. He told me "what if the server you're using to trick into sending the SYN/ACK packets can't receive the RST packet?" I have no idea. He claims that the server will continue trying to send SYN/ACK packets, and that the packetrate will continue to build up. Is there any truth to this? Can anyone elaborate? Apparently, the way it works is this: He spoofs the IP of the SYN packet to the target's IP. He then sends the SYN packet to a handful of random servers They all reply with their SYN/ACK packet to the target IP, of course The target responds with RST, as we know BUT somehow he keeps the target from sending the RST or keeps the random servers from processing it With this, apparently the servers will continue trying to send the SYN/ACK packets, thus producing a somewhat of a "snowball" effect.
