  • Swing button repaint issue

    - by KáGé
    Hello, I'm new to java and I have to get a school project done by Sunday and got a problem. Here's the code: private abstract class GamePanel { JPanel panel = null; } private class PutPanel extends GamePanel { JButton putShip1 = new JButton(""); JButton putShip2 = new JButton(""); JButton putShip3 = new JButton(""); JButton putShip4 = new JButton(""); ShipDirection ship1Direction = ShipDirection.NORTH; ShipDirection ship2Direction = ShipDirection.NORTH; ShipDirection ship3Direction = ShipDirection.NORTH; ShipDirection ship4Direction = ShipDirection.NORTH; JButton startButton = new JButton("Start game"); public PutPanel(){ this.panel = new JPanel(); panel.setSize(200, Torpedo.session.map.size*Field.buttonSize+300); panel.setBackground(Color.blue); putShip1.setSize(90, 90); putShip1.setLocation(55, 5); putShip1.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship1/full_north.png", null)); putShip2.setSize(90, 90); putShip2.setLocation(55, 105); putShip2.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship2/full_north.png", null)); putShip3.setSize(90, 90); putShip3.setLocation(55, 205); putShip3.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship3/full_north.png", null)); putShip4.setSize(90, 90); putShip4.setLocation(55, 305); putShip4.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship4/full_north.png", null)); startButton.setSize(150, 30); startButton.setLocation(20, Torpedo.session.map.size*Field.buttonSize+205); panel.add(putShip1); panel.add(putShip2); panel.add(putShip3); panel.add(putShip4); panel.add(startButton); startButton.addActionListener(startButton()); startButton.addActionListener(putShip1()); startButton.addActionListener(putShip2()); startButton.addActionListener(putShip3()); startButton.addActionListener(putShip4()); panel.setLayout(null); panel.setVisible(true); } private ActionListener startButton(){ return new ActionListener(){ public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { putPanel.panel.setVisible(false); actionPanel.panel.setVisible(true); } }; } private ActionListener putShip1(){ return new ActionListener(){ public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { selectedShip = 1; putShip1.setBackground(Color.red); putShip2.setBackground(null); putShip3.setBackground(null); putShip4.setBackground(null); switch(ship1Direction){ case NORTH: ship1Direction = ShipDirection.EAST; putShip1.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship1/full_east.png", null)); break; case EAST: ship1Direction = ShipDirection.SOUTH; putShip1.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship1/full_south.png", null)); break; case SOUTH: ship1Direction = ShipDirection.WEST; putShip1.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship1/full_west.png", null)); break; case WEST: ship1Direction = ShipDirection.NORTH; putShip1.setIcon(createImageIcon(Torpedo.session.map.shipPath+"/ship1/full_north.png", null)); break; } putShip1.repaint(); putShip2.repaint(); putShip3.repaint(); putShip4.repaint(); panel.repaint(); JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(new JFrame(), "Repaint finished", "Repaint status info", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE); //this here hangs the program when the method is finally called } }; When one of the putShip* buttons is clicked, it should rotate its own icon right 90° (means changing it to the next image), but it does nothing until the startButton is clicked, which changes the panel to an other one. (Only the first button's actionListener is here, the others' are practically the same). The panel is in a JFrame with two other panels that yet do nothing. How could I make it work properly? Thank you.

  • Selected value from drop-down list doesn't post from jquery dialog

    - by RememberME
    I have a jQuery dialog. All of the fields are posting correctly except for the drop-downs, the value is getting passed as null rather than the selected value. <div id="popupCreateCompany" title="Create a new company"> <form> <fieldset> <p> <label for="company_name">Company Name:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("company_name") %> </p> <p> <label for="company_desc">Company Description:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("company_desc") %> </p> <p> <label for="address">Address:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("address") %> </p> <p> <label for="city">City:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("city") %> </p> <p> <label for="state">State:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("state") %> </p> <p> <label for="zip">Zip:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("zip") %> </p> <p> <label for="website">Website:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("website", "http:/") %> </p> <p> <label for="sales_contact">Sales Contact:</label> <%= Html.DropDownList("sales_contact", Model.SelectSalesContacts, "** Select Sales Contact **") %> </p> <p> <label for="primary_company">Primary Company:</label> <%= Html.DropDownList("primary_company", Model.SelectPrimaryCompanies, "** Select Primary Company **") %> </p> </fieldset> </form> jQuery: $('#popupCreateCompany').dialog( { autoOpen: false, modal: true, buttons: { 'Add': function() { var dialog = $(this); var form = dialog.find('input:text'); $.post('/company/create', $(form).serialize(), function() { dialog.dialog('close'); }) }, 'Cancel': function() { $(this).dialog('close'); } } }); $("#create-company").click(function() { $('#popupCreateCompany').dialog('open'); }); My SelectList definitions: public class SubcontractFormViewModel { public subcontract Subcontract { get; private set; } public SelectList SelectPrimaryCompanies { get; set; } public MultiSelectList SelectService_Lines { get; private set; } public SelectList SelectSalesContacts { get; private set; } public SubcontractFormViewModel(subcontract subcontract) { SubcontractRepository subcontractRepository = new SubcontractRepository(); Subcontract = subcontract; SelectPrimaryCompanies = new SelectList(subcontractRepository.GetPrimaryCompanies(), "company_id", "company_name"); SelectService_Lines = new MultiSelectList(subcontractRepository.GetService_Lines(), "service_line_id", "service_line_name", subcontractRepository.GetSubcontractService_Lines(Subcontract.subcontract_id)); SelectSalesContacts = new SelectList(subcontractRepository.GetContacts(), "contact_id", "contact_name"); } }

  • Signals and threads - good or bad design decision?

    - by Jens
    I have to write a program that performs highly computationally intensive calculations. The program might run for several days. The calculation can be separated easily in different threads without the need of shared data. I want a GUI or a web service that informs me of the current status. My current design uses BOOST::signals2 and BOOST::thread. It compiles and so far works as expected. If a thread finished one iteration and new data is available it calls a signal which is connected to a slot in the GUI class. My question(s): Is this combination of signals and threads a wise idea? I another forum somebody advised someone else not to "go down this road". Are there potential deadly pitfalls nearby that I failed to see? Is my expectation realistic that it will be "easy" to use my GUI class to provide a web interface or a QT, a VTK or a whatever window? Is there a more clever alternative (like other boost libs) that I overlooked? following code compiles with g++ -Wall -o main -lboost_thread-mt <filename>.cpp code follows: #include <boost/signals2.hpp> #include <boost/thread.hpp> #include <boost/bind.hpp> #include <iostream> #include <iterator> #include <string> using std::cout; using std::cerr; using std::string; /** * Called when a CalcThread finished a new bunch of data. */ boost::signals2::signal<void(string)> signal_new_data; /** * The whole data will be stored here. */ class DataCollector { typedef boost::mutex::scoped_lock scoped_lock; boost::mutex mutex; public: /** * Called by CalcThreads call the to store their data. */ void push(const string &s, const string &caller_name) { scoped_lock lock(mutex); _data.push_back(s); signal_new_data(caller_name); } /** * Output everything collected so far to std::out. */ void out() { typedef std::vector<string>::const_iterator iter; for (iter i = _data.begin(); i != _data.end(); ++i) cout << " " << *i << "\n"; } private: std::vector<string> _data; }; /** * Several of those can calculate stuff. * No data sharing needed. */ struct CalcThread { CalcThread(string name, DataCollector &datcol) : _name(name), _datcol(datcol) { } /** * Expensive algorithms will be implemented here. * @param num_results how many data sets are to be calculated by this thread. */ void operator()(int num_results) { for (int i = 1; i <= num_results; ++i) { std::stringstream s; s << "["; if (i == num_results) s << "LAST "; s << "DATA " << i << " from thread " << _name << "]"; _datcol.push(s.str(), _name); } } private: string _name; DataCollector &_datcol; }; /** * Maybe some VTK or QT or both will be used someday. */ class GuiClass { public: GuiClass(DataCollector &datcol) : _datcol(datcol) { } /** * If the GUI wants to present or at least count the data collected so far. * @param caller_name is the name of the thread whose data is new. */ void slot_data_changed(string caller_name) const { cout << "GuiClass knows: new data from " << caller_name << std::endl; } private: DataCollector & _datcol; }; int main() { DataCollector datcol; GuiClass mc(datcol); signal_new_data.connect(boost::bind(&GuiClass::slot_data_changed, &mc, _1)); CalcThread r1("A", datcol), r2("B", datcol), r3("C", datcol), r4("D", datcol), r5("E", datcol); boost::thread t1(r1, 3); boost::thread t2(r2, 1); boost::thread t3(r3, 2); boost::thread t4(r4, 2); boost::thread t5(r5, 3); t1.join(); t2.join(); t3.join(); t4.join(); t5.join(); datcol.out(); cout << "\nDone" << std::endl; return 0; }

  • jQuery programmatically removing validation highlighting

    - by Sam Carleton
    The form has two check boxes (cbDeclined & cbIsOOfFac), two text fields and a drop down (txtHeight, txtWeight, ddlDevice). If either check box is checked, then the other controls are disabled and the rules for the other do no apply. Here are the current rules: $('form').validate({ highlight: function (element, errorClass) { $(element).addClass("invalidElem"); }, unhighlight: function (element, errorClass) { $(element).removeClass("invalidElem"); }, errorPlacement: function (error, element) { var parent = element.parent(); parent.append(error); }, errorElement: "div", errorClass: "errorMsg" }); function HeightWeightCtrlsEnabled() { return !cbDeclined.is(':checked') && !cbIsOOfFac.is(':checked'); } txtHeight.rules("add", { required: function (element) { return HeightWeightCtrlsEnabled(); }, maxlength: 3, min: 1, digits: true }); txtWeight.rules("add", { required: function (element) { return HeightWeightCtrlsEnabled(); }, maxlength: 4, min: 1, digits: true }); ddlDevice.rules("add", { required: function (element) { return HeightWeightCtrlsEnabled(); } }); function UpdateTextBoxes() { var disableCtrls = !HeightWeightCtrlsEnabled(); txtHeight.prop('disabled', disableCtrls); txtWeight.prop('disabled', disableCtrls); ddlDevice.prop('disabled', disableCtrls); if (disableCtrls) { txtHeight.val(''); txtWeight.val(''); ddlDevice.val(''); } } cbDeclined.click(function () { if (cbDeclined.is(':checked')) cbIsOOfFac.attr('checked', false); UpdateTextBoxes(); }); cbIsOOfFac.click(function () { if (cbIsOOfFac.is(':checked')) cbDeclined.attr('checked', false); UpdateTextBoxes(); }); The problem comes in when: The user enters something into txtWeight, clicks the submit to get both ddlDevice & txtHeight to highlight because they are required, then... The user clicks on either cbDeclined & cbIsOOfFac. The highlight is NOT going away. I am trying to figure out how to get the highlighting around the height and drop down to go away. I tried to create a fully working jsFiddler, but I cannot get anything to work, though everything looks correct. here is the link (I cannot post links, so I expanded it a bit) jsfiddle dot net/scarleton/9hDZQ/12/ If you remove the last /12/, you will see my first version that is a cut/paste from the real thing. Per a suggestion I tried adding $('form').valid(); a number of places. When I added it to the end of the UpdateTextBoxes() function, they started out highlighted, not what I want. When I added it after the click() event of either of the radio button, the text would go away, but the actual controls stayed highlighted. It looks like the function on the required property of the rule is not fully working, maybe. What is really interesting is this: When I enter a height, click , then weight and device are highlighted and have the error message under them. When I click on one of the radio buttons, the text goes away, but the highlight does not. But... The height is NOT highlighted, it stays normal.

  • Is JQuery UI meant to work only with Google Chrome??? (How about IE and Firefox??!)

    - by Richard77
    Hello, I'm using "Jquery UI 1./Dan Wellman/Packt Publishing" to learn JQuery UI. I'm working on the 'Dialog widget' chapiter. After I've completed a series of exercises in order to build a Dialog widget (using Google Chrome), I then tried my work with Internet Explorer and Firefox. The result has been disappointing. Chrome was perfet With Internet Explorer, (1) the title of the Dialog widget did not appear, (2) The location of the dialog widget was not correct (given the position: ["center", "center"]). It was rather offset toward left. With Firefox, the location was respected. However, only the outer container was visible. the content was missing, just a blank container. Also using Option Show:true and Hide:true did only work with Chrome. I wonder now if JQuery UI was meant to be used only with Google Chrome. I just think that I might be missing some directives to make it work with major browsers (as the author claimed in his book). Here's the code. Since, I'm using ASP.NET MVC, certain codes, such as the element to the css, do not appear. But, for the rest, all the functioning code is bellow. <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <p> The goal of this tutorial is to explain one method of creating model classes for an ASP.NET MVC application. • jQuery Validation hiding or tearing down jquery Modal Dialog on submit

    - by Programmin Tool
    Basically when clicking the modal created submit button, and calling jQuery('#FormName').submit(), it will run the validation and then call the method assigned in the submitHandler. After that it is either creating a new modal div or hiding the form, and I don't get why. I have debugged it and noticed that after the method call in the submitHandler, the form .is(':hidden') = true and this is true for the modal div also. I'm positive I've done this before but can't seem to figure out what I've done wrong this time. The odd this is a modal div is showing up on the screen, but it's completely devoid of content. (Even after putting in random text outside of the form. It's like it's a whole new modal div) Here are the set up methods: function setUpdateTaskDiv() { jQuery("#UpdateTaskForm").validate({ errorLabelContainer: "#ErrorDiv", wrapper: "div", rules: { TaskSubject: { required: true } }, messages: { TaskSubject: { required: 'Subject is required.' } }, onfocusout: false, onkeyup: false, submitHandler: function(label) { updateTaskSubject(null); } } ); jQuery('#UpdateDiv').dialog({ autoOpen: false, bgiframe: true, height: 400, width: 500, modal: true, beforeclose: function() { }, buttons: { Submit: function() { jQuery('#UpdateTaskForm').submit(); }, Cancel: function() { ... } } }); where: function updateTaskSubject(task) { //does nothing, it's just a shell right now } Doesn't really do anything right now. Here's the html: <div id="UpdateDiv"> <div id="ErrorDiv"> </div> <form method="post" id="UpdateTaskForm" action="Calendar.html"> <div> <div class="floatLeft"> Date: </div> <div class="floatLeft"> </div> <div class="clear"> </div> </div> <div> <div class="floatLeft"> Start Time: </div> <div class="floatLeft"> <select id="TaskStartDate" name="TaskStartDate"> </select> </div> <div class="clear"> </div> </div> <div> <div class="floatLeft"> End Time: </div> <div class="floatLeft"> <select id="TaskEndDate" name="TaskEndDate"> </select> </div> <div class="clear"> </div> </div> <div> <div class="floatLeft"> Subject: </div> <div class="floatLeft"> <textarea id="TaskSubject" name="TaskSubject" cols="30" rows="10"></textarea> </div> <div class="clear"> </div> </div> <div> <input type="hidden" id="TaskId" value="" /> </div> <div class="clear"></div> </form> </div> Odd Discovery Turns out that the examples that I got this to work all had the focus being put back on the modal itself. For example, using the validator to add messages to the error div. (Success or not) Without doing this, the modal dialog apparently thinks that it's done with what it needs to do and just hides everything. Not sure exactly why, but to stop this behavior some kind of focus has to be assigned to something within the div itself.

  • Writing a code example

    - by Stefano Borini
    I would like to have your feedback regarding code examples. One of the most frustrating experiences I sometimes have when learning a new technology is finding useless examples. I think an example as the most precious thing that comes with a new library, language, or technology. It must be a starting point, a wise and unadulterated explanation on how to achieve a given result. A perfect example must have the following characteristics: Self contained: it should be small enough to be compiled or executed as a single program, without dependencies or complex makefiles. An example is also a strong functional test if you correctly installed the new technology. The more issues could arise, the more likely is that something goes wrong, and the more difficult is to debug and solve the situation. Pertinent: it should demonstrate one, and only one, specific feature of your software/library, involving the minimal additional behavior from external libraries. Helpful: the code should bring you forward, step by step, using comments or self-documenting code. Extensible: the example code should be a small “framework” or blueprint for additional tinkering. A learner can start by adding features to this blueprint. Recyclable: it should be possible to extract parts of the example to use in your own code Easy: An example code is not the place to show your code-fu skillz. Keep it easy. helpful acronym: SPHERE. Prototypical examples of violations of those rules are the following: Violation of self-containedness: an example spanning multiple files without any real need for it. If your example is a python program, keep everything into a single module file. Don’t sub-modularize it. In Java, try to keep everything into a single class, unless you really must partition some entity into a meaningful object you need to pass around (and java mandates one class per file, if I remember correctly). Violation of Pertinency: When showing how many different shapes you can draw, adding radio buttons and complex controls with all the possible choices for point shapes is a bad idea. You de-focalize your example code, introducing code for event handling, controls initialization etc., and this is not part the feature you want to demonstrate, they are unnecessary noise in the understanding of the crucial mechanisms providing the feature. Violation of Helpfulness: code containing dubious naming, wrong comments, hacks, and functions longer than one page of code. Violation of Extensibility: badly factored code that have everything into a single function, with potentially swappable entities embedded within the code. Example: if an example reads data from a file and displays it, create a method getData() returning a useful entity, instead of opening the file raw and plotting the stuff. This way, if the user of the library needs to read data from a HTTP server instead, he just has to modify the getData() module and use the example almost as-is. Another violation of Extensibility comes if the example code is not under a fully liberal (e.g. MIT or BSD) license. Violation of Recyclability: when the code layout is so intermingled that is difficult to easily copy and paste parts of it and recycle them into another program. Again, licensing is also a factor. Violation of Easiness: Yes, you are a functional-programming nerd and want to show how cool you are by doing everything on a single line of map, filter and so on, but that could not be helpful to someone else, who is already under pressure to understand your library, and now has to understand your code as well. And in general, the final rule: if it takes more than 10 minutes to do the following: compile the code, run it, read the source, and understand it fully, it means that the example is not a good one. Please let me know your opinion, either positive or negative, or experience on this regard.

  • What to filter when providing very limited open WiFi to a small conference or meeting?

    - by Tim Farley
    Executive Summary The basic question is: if you have a very limited bandwidth WiFi to provide Internet for a small meeting of only a day or two, how do you set the filters on the router to avoid one or two users monopolizing all the available bandwidth? For folks who don't have the time to read the details below, I am NOT looking for any of these answers: Secure the router and only let a few trusted people use it Tell everyone to turn off unused services & generally police themselves Monitor the traffic with a sniffer and add filters as needed I am aware of all of that. None are appropriate for reasons that will become clear. ALSO NOTE: There is already a question concerning providing adequate WiFi at large (500 attendees) conferences here. This question concerns SMALL meetings of less than 200 people, typically with less than half that using the WiFi. Something that can be handled with a single home or small office router. Background I've used a 3G/4G router device to provide WiFi to small meetings in the past with some success. By small I mean single-room conferences or meetings on the order of a barcamp or Skepticamp or user group meeting. These meetings sometimes have technical attendees there, but not exclusively. Usually less than half to a third of the attendees will actually use the WiFi. Maximum meeting size I'm talking about is 100 to 200 people. I typically use a Cradlepoint MBR-1000 but many other devices exist, especially all-in-one units supplied by 3G and/or 4G vendors like Verizon, Sprint and Clear. These devices take a 3G or 4G internet connection and fan it out to multiple users using WiFi. One key aspect of providing net access this way is the limited bandwidth available over 3G/4G. Even with something like the Cradlepoint which can load-balance multiple radios, you are only going to achieve a few megabits of download speed and maybe a megabit or so of upload speed. That's a best case scenario. Often it is considerably slower. The goal in most of these meeting situations is to allow folks access to services like email, web, social media, chat services and so on. This is so they can live-blog or live-tweet the proceedings, or simply chat online or otherwise stay in touch (with both attendees and non-attendees) while the meeting proceeds. I would like to limit the services provided by the router to just those services that meet those needs. Problems In particular I have noticed a couple of scenarios where particular users end up abusing most of the bandwidth on the router, to the detriment of everyone. These boil into two areas: Intentional use. Folks looking at YouTube videos, downloading podcasts to their iPod, and otherwise using the bandwidth for things that really aren't appropriate in a meeting room where you should be paying attention to the speaker and/or interacting.At one meeting that we were live-streaming (over a separate, dedicated connection) via UStream, I noticed several folks in the room that had the UStream page up so they could interact with the meeting chat - apparently oblivious that they were wasting bandwidth streaming back video of something that was taking place right in front of them. Unintentional use. There are a variety of software utilities that will make extensive use of bandwidth in the background, that folks often have installed on their laptops and smartphones, perhaps without realizing.Examples: Peer to peer downloading programs such as Bittorrent that run in the background Automatic software update services. These are legion, as every major software vendor has their own, so one can easily have Microsoft, Apple, Mozilla, Adobe, Google and others all trying to download updates in the background. Security software that downloads new signatures such as anti-virus, anti-malware, etc. Backup software and other software that "syncs" in the background to cloud services. For some numbers on how much network bandwidth gets sucked up by these non-web, non-email type services, check out this recent Wired article. Apparently web, email and chat all together are less than one quarter of the Internet traffic now. If the numbers in that article are correct, by filtering out all the other stuff I should be able to increase the usefulness of the WiFi four-fold. Now, in some situations I've been able to control access using security on the router to limit it to a very small group of people (typically the organizers of the meeting). But that's not always appropriate. At an upcoming meeting I would like to run the WiFi without security and let anyone use it, because it happens at the meeting location the 4G coverage in my town is particularly excellent. In a recent test I got 10 Megabits down at the meeting site. The "tell people to police themselves" solution mentioned at top is not appropriate because of (a) a largely non-technical audience and (b) the unintentional nature of much of the usage as described above. The "run a sniffer and filter as needed" solution is not useful because these meetings typically only last a couple of days, often only one day, and have a very small volunteer staff. I don't have a person to dedicate to network monitoring, and by the time we got the rules tweaked completely the meeting will be over. What I've Got First thing, I figured I would use OpenDNS's domain filtering rules to filter out whole classes of sites. A number of video and peer-to-peer sites can be wiped out using this. (Yes, I am aware that filtering via DNS technically leaves the services accessible - remember, these are largely non-technical users attending a 2 day meeting. It's enough). I figured I would start with these selections in OpenDNS's UI: I figure I will probably also block DNS (port 53) to anything other than the router itself, so that folks can't bypass my DNS configuration. A savvy user could get around this, because I'm not going to put a lot of elaborate filters on the firewall, but I don't care too much. Because these meetings don't last very long, its probably not going to be worth the trouble. This should cover the bulk of the non-web traffic, i.e. peer-to-peer and video if that Wired article is correct. Please advise if you think there are severe limitations to the OpenDNS approach. What I Need Note that OpenDNS focuses on things that are "objectionable" in some context or another. Video, music, radio and peer-to-peer all get covered. I still need to cover a number of perfectly reasonable things that we just want to block because they aren't needed in a meeting. Most of these are utilities that upload or download legit things in the background. Specifically, I'd like to know port numbers or DNS names to filter in order to effectively disable the following services: Microsoft automatic updates Apple automatic updates Adobe automatic updates Google automatic updates Other major software update services Major virus/malware/security signature updates Major background backup services Other services that run in the background and can eat lots of bandwidth I also would like any other suggestions you might have that would be applicable. Sorry to be so verbose, but I find it helps to be very, very clear on questions of this nature, and I already have half a solution with the OpenDNS thing.

  • JFrame not working correctly

    - by Nick Gibson
    This is making me very angry, I have worked on this for 2 days, have 2 books open and have looked through them, and STILL can't get this program to run the way I want it run. I'm getting to the point where if this doesn't help, I quit. I want a SIMPLE Frame application. It has a JComboBox centered at the top. Next to it is a text field big enough to show numeric digits such as "$49.99" Below it is a spot for a Text area showing terms of service Below that is the checkbox agreeing to the terms of service Below that is 2 buttons "Accept" and "Decline" I Have worked on this for 2 days, here is the coding: public class Bar extends JFrame implements ActionListener { public Bar(final JFrame frame) { String[] tests = { "A+ Certification", "Network+ Certification", "Security+ Certification", "CIT Full Test Package" }; JButton button = new JButton("Click Meh"); add(new JLabel("Welcome to the CIT Test Program ")); add(new JLabel("Please select which Test Package from the list below.")); frame.setVisible(true); frame.setSize(250,250); JPanel pane1 = new JPanel(new FlowLayout()); JPanel pane2 = new JPanel(new FlowLayout()); JMenuBar menuBar = new JMenuBar(); JMenu fileMenu = new JMenu("File"); JMenu editMenu = new JMenu("Edit"); JMenu helpMenu = new JMenu("Help"); menuBar.add(fileMenu); menuBar.add(editMenu); menuBar.add(helpMenu); JMenuItem newMenu = new JMenuItem("New (Ctrl+N)"); JMenuItem openMenu = new JMenuItem("Open (Ctrl+O)"); JMenuItem saveMenu = new JMenuItem("Save (Ctrl+S)"); saveMenu.addActionListener(this); JMenuItem exitMenu = new JMenuItem("Exit (Ctrl+W)"); JMenuItem cutMenu = new JMenuItem("Cut (Ctrl+X)"); JMenuItem copyMenu = new JMenuItem("Copy (Ctrl+C)"); JMenuItem pasteMenu = new JMenuItem("Paste (Ctrl+V)"); JMenuItem infoMenu = new JMenuItem("Help (Ctrl+H)"); fileMenu.add(newMenu); fileMenu.add(openMenu); fileMenu.add(saveMenu); fileMenu.add(exitMenu); editMenu.add(cutMenu); editMenu.add(copyMenu); editMenu.add(pasteMenu); helpMenu.add(infoMenu); frame.setJMenuBar(menuBar); JComboBox packageChoice = new JComboBox(tests); frame.add(packageChoice); } public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { Object source = e.getSource(); { } } EDIT: Forgot to add the second program public class JFrameWithPanel { public static void main(String[] args) { JPanel panel = new Bar(new JFrame("CIT Test Program")); } } How do I get this to have everything where I want it and show up? I'm very confused because of this and now barely even get how Frames work.

  • Can someone code review my small SDL app? Want to make sure I didn't make any beginner mistakes

    - by SDLFunTimes
    In an effort to teach myself the SDL library (hence my stack overflow handle :) ) I wanted to try my hand at a side-scroller. My code is complete but I want some feedback (mostly because I have an atrocious amount of if and else statements for what seems like some simple logic). My "program" is a c++ side-scroller where you move a single sprite across the screen. No jumping, bad guys, guns, scores, levels or anything. I wanted to use this as a base to build up upon. So I figured if my base is wrong I could end up with some pretty bad future apps. It's also multi-threaded. Next up on this I would like to make the person sprite animated (so it looks like he's walking rather than sliding) as well as make the person go faster when the arrow buttons are held down longer). The code is kind of long but here's my main method. There's a link at the bottom for the whole program: #include <iostream> #include "SDL.h" #include "game.hpp" using std::cout; using std::endl; const int SCREENW = 200; const int SCREENH = 200; const int BPP = 32; const int FPS = 24; int event_loop(void* stuff); int display_loop(void* stuff); int main(int argc, char** argv) { SDL_Init(SDL_INIT_EVERYTHING | SDL_INIT_EVENTTHREAD); SDL_Thread* events_thurd; SDL_Thread* display_thurd; SDL_Surface* screen = SDL_SetVideoMode(SCREENW, SCREENH, BPP, SDL_SWSURFACE); SDL_EnableKeyRepeat(SDL_DEFAULT_REPEAT_DELAY, SDL_DEFAULT_REPEAT_INTERVAL); SDL_Event event; Game* thug_aim = new Game(&event, screen, SCREENW, SCREENH, BPP); events_thurd = SDL_CreateThread(event_loop, (void*)thug_aim); display_thurd = SDL_CreateThread(display_loop, (void*)thug_aim); SDL_WaitThread(events_thurd, NULL); SDL_KillThread(display_thurd); delete thug_aim; return 0; } int event_loop(void* stuff) { Game* gamez = (Game*)stuff; SDL_Event* event = gamez->get_event(); while(1) { while(SDL_PollEvent(event)) { if(event->type == SDL_QUIT) { return 0; } else if(event->type == SDL_KEYDOWN) { if(event->key.keysym.sym == SDLK_LEFT || event->key.keysym.sym == SDLK_RIGHT) { gamez->move(event->key.keysym.sym); } } else if(event->type == SDL_KEYUP) { if(event->key.keysym.sym == SDLK_LEFT || event->key.keysym.sym == SDLK_RIGHT) { gamez->stop_move(event->key.keysym.sym); } } else { //not an event that concerns this game } } } } int display_loop(void* stuff) { Game* gamez = (Game*)stuff; double period = 1 / FPS * 1000; Uint32 milli_period = (Uint32)period; //get some of the attributes from gamez SDL_Rect* background_rect = gamez->get_background_rect(); SDL_Rect* person_rect = gamez->get_person_rect(); SDL_Surface* screen = gamez->get_screen(); SDL_Surface* background = gamez->get_background(); SDL_Surface* person = gamez->get_person(); Uint32 start, end; int sleep; while(1) { start = SDL_GetTicks(); //blit background SDL_BlitSurface(background, background_rect, screen, NULL); //blit person SDL_BlitSurface(person, NULL, screen, person_rect); end = SDL_GetTicks(); sleep = milli_period - (end - start); if(sleep < 0) { sleep = 0; } SDL_Delay((Uint32)sleep); if(SDL_Flip(gamez->get_screen()) != 0) { cout << "error drawing to screen: " << SDL_GetError() << endl; } } } Here's the link to the .zip file of all my code (please ignore some of the variable names ;-) ): Anyway can you guys take a look and tell me what you think? url edit: holy crap I didn't know 2shared was such a shitty site. Looking for a better uploader than that or rapidshare / mediafire.

  • How to show form in front in C#

    - by corlettk
    Folks, Please does anyone know how to show a Form from an otherwise invisible application, and have it get the focus (i.e. appear on top of other windows)? I'm working in C# .NET 3.5. I suspect I've taken "completely the wrong approach"... I do not Application.Run(new TheForm ()) instead I (new TheForm()).ShowModal()... The Form is basically a modal dialogue, with a few check-boxes; a text-box, and OK and Cancel Buttons. The user ticks a checkbox and types in a description (or whatever) then presses OK, the form disappears and the process reads the user-input from the Form, Disposes it, and continues processing. This works, except when the form is show it doesn't get the focus, instead it appears behind the "host" application, until you click on it in the taskbar (or whatever). This is a most annoying behaviour, which I predict will cause many "support calls", and the existing VB6 version doesn't have this problem, so I'm going backwards in usability... and users won't accept that (and nor should they). So... I'm starting to think I need to rethink the whole shebang... I should show the form up front, as a "normal application" and attach the remainer of the processing to the OK-button-click event. It should work, But that will take time which I don't have (I'm already over time/budget)... so first I really need to try to make the current approach work... even by quick-and-dirty methods. So please does anyone know how to "force" a .NET 3.5 Form (by fair means or fowl) to get the focus? I'm thinking "magic" windows API calls (I know Twilight Zone: This only appears to be an issue at work, we're I'm using Visual Studio 2008 on Windows XP SP3... I've just failed to reproduce the problem with an SSCCE (see below) at home on Visual C# 2008 on Vista Ulimate... This works fine. Huh? WTF? Also, I'd swear that at work yesterday showed the form when I ran the EXE, but not when F5'ed (or Ctrl-F5'ed) straight from the IDE (which I just put up with)... At home the form shows fine either way. Totaly confusterpating! It may or may not be relevant, but Visual Studio crashed-and-burned this morning when the project was running in debug mode and editing the code "on the fly"... it got stuck what I presumed was an endless loop of error messages. The error message was something about "can't debug this project because it is not the current project, or something... So I just killed it off with process explorer. It started up again fine, and even offered to recover the "lost" file, an offer which I accepted. using System; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace ShowFormOnTop { static class Program { [STAThread] static void Main() { Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); //Application.Run(new Form1()); Form1 frm = new Form1(); frm.ShowDialog(); } } } Background: I'm porting an existing VB6 implementation to .NET... It's a "plugin" for a "client" GIS application called MapInfo. The existing client "worked invisibly" and my instructions are "to keep the new version as close as possible to the old version", which works well enough (after years of patching); it's just written in an unsupported language, so we need to port it. About me: I'm pretty much a noob to C# and .NET generally, though I've got a bottoms wiping certificate, I have been a professional programmer for 10 years; So I sort of "know some stuff". Any insights would be most welcome... and Thank you all for taking the time to read this far. Consiseness isn't (apparently) my forte. Cheers. Keith.

  • drupal_get_form is not passing along node array

    - by ElectronicBlacksmith
    I have not been able to get drupal_get_form to pass on the node data. Code snippets are below. The drupal_get_form documentation (api.drupal.org) states that it will pass on the extra parameters. I am basing the node data not being passed because (apparently) $node['language'] is not defined in hook_form which causes $form['qqq'] not to be created and thus the preview button shows up. My goal here is that the preview button show up using path "node/add/author" but doesn't show up for "milan/author/add". Any alternative methods for achieving this goal would be helpful but the question I want answered is in the preceding paragraph. Everything I've read indicates that it should work. This menu item $items['milan/author/add'] = array( 'title' = 'Add Author', 'page callback' = 'get_author_form', 'access arguments' = array('access content'), 'file' = 'author.pages.inc', ); calls this code function get_author_form() { //return node_form(NULL,NULL); //return drupal_get_form('author_form'); return author_ajax_form('author'); } function author_ajax_form($type) { global $user; module_load_include('inc', 'node', 'node.pages'); $types = node_get_types(); $type = isset($type) ? str_replace('-', '_', $type) : NULL; // If a node type has been specified, validate its existence. if (isset($types[$type]) && node_access('create', $type)) { // Initialize settings: $node = array('uid' = $user-uid, 'name' = (isset($user-name) ? $user-name : ''), 'type' = $type, 'language' = 'bbb','bbb' = 'TRUE'); $output = drupal_get_form($type .'_node_form', $node); } return $output; } And here is the hook_form and hook_form_alter code function author_form_author_node_form_alter(&$form, &$form_state) { $form['author']=NULL; $form['taxonomy']=NULL; $form['options']=NULL; $form['menu']=NULL; $form['comment_settings']=NULL; $form['files']=NULL; $form['revision_information']=NULL; $form['attachments']=NULL; if($form["qqq"]) { $form['buttons']['preview']=NULL; } } function author_form(&$node) { return make_author_form(&$node); } function make_author_form(&$node) { global $user; $type = node_get_types('type', $node); $node = author_make_title($node); drupal_set_breadcrumb(array(l(t('Home'), NULL), l(t($node-title), 'node/' . $node-nid))); $form['authorset'] = array( '#type' = 'fieldset', '#title' = t('Author'), '#weight' = -50, '#collapsible' = FALSE, '#collapsed' = FALSE, ); $form['author_id'] = array( '#access' = user_access('create pd_recluse entries'), '#type' = 'hidden', '#default_value' = $node-author_id, '#weight' = -20 ); $form['authorset']['last_name'] = array( '#type' = 'textfield', '#title' = t('Last Name'), '#maxlength' = 60, '#default_value' = $node-last_name ); $form['authorset']['first_name'] = array( '#type' = 'textfield', '#title' = t('First Name'), '#maxlength' = 60, '#default_value' = $node-first_name ); $form['authorset']['middle_name'] = array( '#type' = 'textfield', '#title' = t('Middle Name'), '#maxlength' = 60, '#default_value' = $node-middle_name ); $form['authorset']['suffix_name'] = array( '#type' = 'textfield', '#title' = t('Suffix Name'), '#maxlength' = 14, '#default_value' = $node-suffix_name ); $form['authorset']['body_filter']['body'] = array( '#access' = user_access('create pd_recluse entries'), '#type' = 'textarea', '#title' = 'Describe Author', '#default_value' = $node-body, '#required' = FALSE, '#weight' = -19 ); $form['status'] = array( '#type' = 'hidden', '#default_value' = '1' ); $form['promote'] = array( '#type' = 'hidden', '#default_value' = '1' ); $form['name'] = array( '#type' = 'hidden', '#default_value' = $user-name ); $form['format'] = array( '#type' = 'hidden', '#default_value' = '1' ); // NOTE in node_example there is some addition code here not needed for this simple node-type $thepath='milan/author'; if($_REQUEST["theletter"]) { $thepath .= "/" . $_REQUEST["theletter"]; } if($node['language']) { $thepath='milan/authorajaxclose'; $form['qqq'] = array( '#type' = 'hidden', '#default_value' = '1' ); } $form['#redirect'] = $thepath; return $form; } That menu path coincides with this theme (PHPTemplate)

  • Using Bundle and Intent with TabHost

    - by apesa
    I am using TabHost with 3 tabs. I need to pass the params selected from one screen using Bundle and / or Intent to the next and then set the correct tab in TabHost and pass those params to the correct tab. I hope that makes sense. I have a config screen that has several radio buttons that are grouped and 1 checkbox and a button. in my onClick() I have the following code. public class Distribute extends Activity implements OnClickListener { DistributionMap gixnav; protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); TextView textview = new TextView(this); textview.setText("Distribution"); setContentView(R.drawable.configup); Button button = (Button)findViewById(R.id.btn_configup1); button.setOnClickListener(this); } public void onClick(View v) { Intent intent; Bundle extras = new Bundle(); intent = new Intent().setClass(getApplicationContext(), Clevel.class); intent.putExtras(extras); startActivity(intent); } } I need to pass the selection params (which radio button is selected and is the checkbox clicked to Clevel. In Clevel I have to parse the bundle and operate on those params. Basiclaly I will be pulling data froma DB and using that data to call google maps ItemizedOverlay. onClick calls Clevel.class using Intent. This works and I understand how Intent works. What I need to understand is how to grab or reference the selected radio button and whatever else may be clicked or checked and pass it through TabHost to the correct Tab. This is what I have in Clevel for TabHost. From TabHost the onCLick will need to pass everything to Distribute.class public class Clevel extends TabActivity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.gixout1); Resources res = getResources(); TabHost tabHost = getTabHost(); TabHost.TabSpec spec; Intent intent; String mData; Bundle extras = getIntent().getExtras(); if (extras != null) { mData = extras.getString("key"); } intent = new Intent().setClass(this, ClevelMain.class); spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("Main").setIndicator("C-Level", res.getDrawable(R.drawable.gixmain)) .setContent(intent); tabHost.addTab(spec); intent = new Intent().setClass(this, Distribute.class); spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("Config").setIndicator("Distribute", res.getDrawable(R.drawable.gixconfig)) .setContent(intent); tabHost.addTab(spec); intent = new Intent().setClass(this, DistributionMap.class); spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("Nav").setIndicator("Map", res.getDrawable(R.drawable.gixnav)) .setContent(intent); tabHost.addTab(spec); tabHost.setCurrentTab(3); tabHost.getOnFocusChangeListener(); } I am really looking for some pointers on how to pass and use params in Bundle and whether in should use Bundle and Intent or can I just use Intent? Thanks in advance, Pat

  • Slide div inside another div effect

    - by mariki
    I am trying to create sliding images effect: Online demolink text. The problem is when you click rapidly and randomly on the buttons and not wait for animation to finish causing unpredicted results and even stopping the functionality to work. (and once it stopped in the middle of 2 images...) How Can I make it work without bugs? I know that there are some other tools for that sliding like jquery and other approaches like changing the position attribute and not the scrollLeft attribute. But I want to do it as it is, with scrollLeft, if it possible of course. The Code: <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> body { padding:0px; margin:0px; } #imageContainer { width: 500px; position: relative; } #div { overflow: hidden; white-space: nowrap; } #div img { cursor: pointer; vertical-align: bottom; width: 500px; padding:0px; margin:0px; display:inline; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> var scrollIntervalID; var currentIndex=0; function Scroll(ind){ var dir = ind ==currentIndex?0:ind<currentIndex?-1:1; var steps = Math.abs(ind-currentIndex); scrollIntervalID = setInterval(function(){ var i=(steps*10)-1; return function(){ if (i <= 0) clearInterval(scrollIntervalID); var elm = document.getElementById("div"); elm.scrollLeft +=dir * 50; i--; document.getElementById("span").innerHTML=elm.scrollLeft; } }(), 15); currentIndex=ind; } </script> </head> <body> <div id="imageContainer"> <div id="div"> <img id="image1" src="Images/pic1.jpg" width="500px"/><img id="image2" src="Images/pic2.jpg" width="500px"/><img id="image3" src="Images/pic3.jpg" width="500px"/><img id="image4" src="Images/pic4.jpg" width="500px"/> </div> </div> <div> <input type="button" value="1" onclick="Scroll(0);"/> <input type="button" value="2" onclick="Scroll(1);"/> <input type="button" value="3" onclick="Scroll(2);"/> <input type="button" value="4" onclick="Scroll(3);"/> </div> <span id="span"></span> </body> </html>

  • Google App Engine + Form Validation

    - by Iwona
    Hi, I would like to do google app engine form validation but I dont know how to do it? I tried like this: from google.appengine.ext.db import djangoforms from django import newforms as forms class SurveyForm(forms.Form): occupations_choices = ( ('1', ""), ('2', "Undergraduate student"), ('3', "Postgraduate student (MSc)"), ('4', "Postgraduate student (PhD)"), ('5', "Lab assistant"), ('6', "Technician"), ('7', "Lecturer"), ('8', "Other" ) ) howreach_choices = ( ('1', ""), ('2', "Typed the URL directly"), ('3', "Site is bookmarked"), ('4', "A search engine"), ('5', "A link from another site"), ('6', "From a book"), ('7', "Other") ) boxes_choices = ( ("des", "Website Design"), ("svr", "Web Server Administration"), ("com", "Electronic Commerce"), ("mkt", "Web Marketing/Advertising"), ("edu", "Web-Related Education") ) name = forms.CharField(label='Name', max_length=100, required=True) email = forms.EmailField(label='Your Email Address:') occupations = forms.ChoiceField(choices=occupations_choices, label='What is your occupation?') howreach = forms.ChoiceField(choices=howreach_choices, label='How did you reach this site?') # radio buttons 1-5 rating = forms.ChoiceField(choices=range(1,6), label='What is your occupation?', widget=forms.RadioSelect) boxes = forms.ChoiceField(choices=boxes_choices, label='Are you involved in any of the following? I have tried to do it using this kind of: class ItemUserAnswer(djangoforms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = UserAnswer But I dont know how to add extra labels to this form and it is displayed in one line. Do You have any suggestions? Thanks a lot as it making me crazy why it is still not working:/

  • How do I properly add existing source code files to my Xcode project?

    - by BeachRunnerJoe
    I'm new to iPhone development and I'm still getting familiar with the Mac dev environment, including Xcode. I want to add some 3rd party code to my iPhone project, but when I add the "existing files" to my Xcode project, I'm presented with a dialog box that has far too many options that I don't understand and, as such, my project isn't working. When I #import headerfilename.h, I get a build error that reads headerfilename.h: No such file or directory. Can anyone explain to me what all these options mean or give me a link to some documentation that can? I'm having a hard time finding anything in Apple's docs. Which options do I want to choose to add existing source code files to my Xcode project? I should note that the source code files that I'm trying to add are located in my project/Classes/frameworkname/ directory. After they're added, do I need to reference this new code directory in my project settings anywhere (i.e. some kind of header file directory variable)? Thanks so much! Update: I found the following answers/responses on the apple dev forums that were very useful and helped me fix my issue... To make it simple : - if you do not check the copy option, the file stay where it is. - if you check it, it is copied in your project folders In the first case (what it seems you are doing) you need to tell the compiler that the header files are in another directory : - project info - build - search paths - User Header Search Path : add the directory from where you took the header file Hope this will help You have discovered the most confusing dialog box that ever came out of Cupertino. Six years of Xcode, and this thing still is partly a mystery to me. To even get that far, I had to make many test projects to try and reverse-engineer what this thing does. The "Copy" box means that it will copy the files as they are right now, into the project. If this box is not checked, then it just references those files during a build and copies them as they are at THAT time. For source code, you want the Copy box checked. The "relative to" is a total mystery to me and I can't help you with that. I usually leave it however it is already set. Does it mean relative to where they are on disk, or the arrangement in Xcode, or in the bundle? Who knows. The last 2 radio buttons SEEM to mean that it will either re-create the folder structure of the folder you are adding, or just put "fake" folders in Xcode that point to the real folders. This is probably your problem - you are adding source code that is not all at the top level, and when it goes to find it, it does not re-create the hierarchy. Others can supply a better way, hopefully, but what I would do is put all of the source in one folder and add that, using the Copy box. Then in Xcode you can make whatever bogus folders you want and put the source file names in those fake folders.

  • Templates and inheritance

    - by mariusz
    Hello, I have a big problem. I use additional controls for Wpf. One of them is Telerik RadWindow This control is already templated. Now I want to create custom Window with will inherit from RadWindow, and make custom template, eg. One base window will contains grid and two buttons, second base window will contain two grids (master - detail). The problem is that templates do not support inheritance. Perhaps is another way to template only the content of Winodow? My code, that doesn't work (empty window appears, so template doesn't apply) <Style TargetType="{x:Type local:TBaseRjWindow}"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type local:TBaseRjContent}"> <Border Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}"> <Grid Name="mGrid"> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition /> <RowDefinition MaxHeight="40" MinHeight="30" /> <RowDefinition MaxHeight="40" MinHeight="30" /> <RowDefinition Height="Auto" /> <RowDefinition MaxHeight="40" MinHeight="30" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <telerik:RadGridView Margin="10,10,10,10" Name="grid" Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" ScrollMode="Deferred" AutoGenerateColumns="False" Width="Auto" > </telerik:RadGridView> <telerik:RadDataPager Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="0" x:Name="radDataPager" PageSize="50" AutoEllipsisMode="None" DisplayMode="First, Previous, Next, Text" Margin="10,0,10,0"/> <StackPanel Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="0" Margin="5 5 5 5" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Orientation="Horizontal" Height="20" Width="Auto" VerticalAlignment="Center" > <telerik:RadButton x:Name="btAdd" Margin="5 0 5 0" Content="Dodaj" /> <telerik:RadButton x:Name="btEdit" Margin="5 0 5 0" Content="Edytuj" /> <telerik:RadButton x:Name="btDelete" Margin="5 0 5 0" Content="Usun" /> </StackPanel> <StackPanel Name="addFields" Background="LightGray" Visibility="Collapsed" VerticalAlignment="Top" Grid.Row="2" Grid.Column="0" Width="Auto" Height="Auto" Orientation="Horizontal"> <GroupBox Header="Szczegoly" Margin="2 2 2 2" > <Grid VerticalAlignment="Top" DataContext="{Binding SelectedItem, ElementName=grid}" Name="_gAddFields" Margin="0 0 0 0" Width="Auto" Height="Auto" > </Grid> </GroupBox> </StackPanel> <StackPanel Grid.Row="3" Grid.Column="0" Margin="5 5 5 5" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Orientation="Horizontal" Height="25" Width="Auto" VerticalAlignment="Center" > <telerik:RadButton x:Name="btSave" IsDefault="True" Width="60" Margin="5 0 5 0" Content="Zapisz" /> <telerik:RadButton x:Name="btOK" IsDefault="True" Width="60" Margin="5 0 5 0" Content="Akceptuj" /> <telerik:RadButton x:Name="btCancel" IsCancel="True" Width="60" Margin="5 0 5 0" Content="Anuluj" /> </StackPanel> </Grid> </Border> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> Please help

  • InputText inside Primefaces dataTable is not refreshed

    - by robson
    I need to have inputTexts inside datatable when form is in editable mode. Everything works properly except form cleaning with immediate="true" (without form validation). Then primefaces datatable behaves unpredictable. After filling in datatable with new data - it still stores old values. Short example: test.xhtml <h:body> <h:form id="form"> <p:dataTable var="v" value="#{test.list}" id="testTable"> <p:column headerText="Test value"> <p:inputText value="#{v}"/> </p:column> </p:dataTable> <h:dataTable var="v" value="#{test.list}" id="testTable1"> <h:column> <f:facet name="header"> <h:outputText value="Test value" /> </f:facet> <p:inputText value="#{v}" /> </h:column> </h:dataTable> <p:dataTable var="v" value="#{test.list}" id="testTable2"> <p:column headerText="Test value"> <h:outputText value="#{v}" /> </p:column> </p:dataTable> <p:commandButton value="Clear" actionListener="#{test.clear()}" immediate="true" update=":form:testTable :form:testTable1 :form:testTable2"/> <p:commandButton value="Update" actionListener="#{test.update()}" update=":form:testTable :form:testTable1 :form:testTable2"/> </h:form> </h:body> And java: import java.io.Serializable; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.List; import javax.annotation.PostConstruct; import javax.faces.bean.ViewScoped; import javax.inject.Inject; import javax.inject.Named; @Named @ViewScoped public class Test implements Serializable { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; private List<String> list; @PostConstruct private void init(){ update(); } public List<String> getList() { return list; } public void setList(List<String> list) { this.list = list; } public void clear() { list = new ArrayList<String>(); } public void update() { list = new ArrayList<String>(); list.add("Item 1"); list.add("Item 2"); } } In the example above I have 3 configurations: 1. p:dataTable with p:inputText 2. h:dataTable with p:inputText 3. p:dataTable with h:outputText And 2 buttons: first clears data, second applies data Workflow: 1. Try to change data in inputTexts in p:dataTable and h:dataTable 2. Clear data of list (arrayList of string) - click "clear" button (imagine that you click cancel on form because you don't want to store data to database) 3. Load new data - click "update" button (imagine that you are openning new form with new data) Question: Why p:dataTable with p:inputText still stores manually changed data, not the loaded ones? Is there any way to force p:dataTable to behaving like h:dataTable in this case?

  • How should I change my Graph structure (very slow insertion)?

    - by Nazgulled
    Hi, This program I'm doing is about a social network, which means there are users and their profiles. The profiles structure is UserProfile. Now, there are various possible Graph implementations and I don't think I'm using the best one. I have a Graph structure and inside, there's a pointer to a linked list of type Vertex. Each Vertex element has a value, a pointer to the next Vertex and a pointer to a linked list of type Edge. Each Edge element has a value (so I can define weights and whatever it's needed), a pointer to the next Edge and a pointer to the Vertex owner. I have a 2 sample files with data to process (in CSV style) and insert into the Graph. The first one is the user data (one user per line); the second one is the user relations (for the graph). The first file is quickly inserted into the graph cause I always insert at the head and there's like ~18000 users. The second file takes ages but I still insert the edges at the head. The file has about ~520000 lines of user relations and takes between 13-15mins to insert into the Graph. I made a quick test and reading the data is pretty quickly, instantaneously really. The problem is in the insertion. This problem exists because I have a Graph implemented with linked lists for the vertices. Every time I need to insert a relation, I need to lookup for 2 vertices, so I can link them together. This is the problem... Doing this for ~520000 relations, takes a while. How should I solve this? Solution 1) Some people recommended me to implement the Graph (the vertices part) as an array instead of a linked list. This way I have direct access to every vertex and the insertion is probably going to drop considerably. But, I don't like the idea of allocating an array with [18000] elements. How practically is this? My sample data has ~18000, but what if I need much less or much more? The linked list approach has that flexibility, I can have whatever size I want as long as there's memory for it. But the array doesn't, how am I going to handle such situation? What are your suggestions? Using linked lists is good for space complexity but bad for time complexity. And using an array is good for time complexity but bad for space complexity. Any thoughts about this solution? Solution 2) This project also demands that I have some sort of data structures that allows quick lookup based on a name index and an ID index. For this I decided to use Hash Tables. My tables are implemented with separate chaining as collision resolution and when a load factor of 0.70 is reach, I normally recreate the table. I base the next table size on this http://planetmath.org/encyclopedia/GoodHashTablePrimes.html. Currently, both Hash Tables hold a pointer to the UserProfile instead of duplication the user profile itself. That would be stupid, changing data would require 3 changes and it's really dumb to do it that way. So I just save the pointer to the UserProfile. The same user profile pointer is also saved as value in each Graph Vertex. So, I have 3 data structures, one Graph and two Hash Tables and every single one of them point to the same exact UserProfile. The Graph structure will serve the purpose of finding the shortest path and stuff like that while the Hash Tables serve as quick index by name and ID. What I'm thinking to solve my Graph problem is to, instead of having the Hash Tables value point to the UserProfile, I point it to the corresponding Vertex. It's still a pointer, no more and no less space is used, I just change what I point to. Like this, I can easily and quickly lookup for each Vertex I need and link them together. This will insert the ~520000 relations pretty quickly. I thought of this solution because I already have the Hash Tables and I need to have them, then, why not take advantage of them for indexing the Graph vertices instead of the user profile? It's basically the same thing, I can still access the UserProfile pretty quickly, just go to the Vertex and then to the UserProfile. But, do you see any cons on this second solution against the first one? Or only pros that overpower the pros and cons on the first solution? Other Solution) If you have any other solution, I'm all ears. But please explain the pros and cons of that solution over the previous 2. I really don't have much time to be wasting with this right now, I need to move on with this project, so, if I'm doing to do such a change, I need to understand exactly what to change and if that's really the way to go. Hopefully no one fell asleep reading this and closed the browser, sorry for the big testament. But I really need to decide what to do about this and I really need to make a change. P.S: When answering my proposed solutions, please enumerate them as I did so I know exactly what are you talking about and don't confuse my self more than I already am.

  • Using label tags in a validation summary error list?

    - by patridge
    I was thinking about making use of <label> tags in my validation error summary on a failed form submit and I can't figure out if it is going to get me in trouble down the line. Can anyone think of a good reason to avoid this approach? Usability, functionality, design, or other issues are all helpful. I really like the idea of clicking a line item in the error list and being jumped to the offending input element, especially in a mobile HTML scenario where vertical orientation is more common and scrolling is a pain. So far the only problem I can find is that labels don't navigate for radio buttons or checkboxes without individual IDs (Clicking a label for a single ID-tagged radio/checkbox element alters its selection). It doesn't make it any worse than no label, though. Here is a stripped down HTML test sample of this idea (CSS omitted for simplicity). <div class="validation-errors"> <p>There was a problem saving your form.</p> <ul> <li><label for="select1">Select 1 is invalid.</label></li> <li><label for="text1">Text 1 is invalid.</label></li> <li><label for="textarea1">TextArea 1 is invalid.</label></li> <li><label for="radio1">Radio 1 is invalid.</label></li> <li><label for="checkbox1">Checkbox 1 is invalid.</label></li> </ul> </div> <form action="/somewhere"> <fieldset><legend>Some Form</legend> <ol> <li><label for="select1">select1</label> <select id="select1" name="select1"> <option value="value1">Value 1</option> <option value="value2">Value 2</option> <option selected="selected" value="value3">Value 3</option> </select></li> <li><label for="text1">text1</label> <input id="text1" name="text1" type="text" value="sometext" /></li> <li><label for="textarea1">textarea1</label> <textarea id="textarea1" name="textarea1" rows="5" cols="25">sometext</textarea></li> <li><ul> <li><label><input type="radio" name="radio1" value="value1" />Value 1</label></li> <li><label><input type="radio" name="radio1" value="value2" checked="checked" />Value 2</label></li> <li><label><input type="radio" name="radio1" value="value3" />Value 3</label></li> </ul></li> <li><ul> <li><label><input type="checkbox" name="checkbox1" value="value1" checked="checked" />Value 1</label></li> <li><label><input type="checkbox" name="checkbox1" value="value2" />Value 2</label></li> <li><label><input type="checkbox" name="checkbox1" value="value3" checked="checked" />Value 3</label></li> </ul></li> <li><input type="submit" value="Save &amp; Continue" /></li> </ol> </fieldset> </form> The only thing I have added to make the click-capable behavior more obvious is to add a CSS rule for the labels. .validation-errors label { text-decoration: underline; cursor: pointer; }
