  • Multiple submits in an HTML form

    I have an HTML form that needs multiple submit buttons, like this: <input type="submit" name="foo" value="1"/> <input type="submit" name="foo" value="2"/> <input type="submit" name="foo" value="3"/> The problem is that I want it to display on the button something other than what is in the value attribute (in the example above: 1, 2, 3). For example, I want to show "Bar" for the button with value="1". Is this possible? I've considered using the <button> tag, like this: <button name="foo" value="1">Bar</button> The problem with using <button> (from w3schools): If you use the element in an HTML form, different browsers may submit different values. Internet Explorer, prior version 9, will submit the text between the and tags, while other browsers will submit the content of the value attribute. Use the element to create buttons in an HTML form. Thoughts?

  • How to Implement Backbone Java Logic Code into Android

    I wrote a program to work from the console in Eclipse and the terminal window in Linux. I am now transforming it into an Android app and I have the basic functionality of the Android UI done up until the point where it needs to use the logic from the Java file of the program I wrote. All of my inputs from the Java file are currently from the keyboard (from Scanners). My question is: how do I transform this to get it work with the user interaction of the app? The only input would be from the built in NumberPicker. Should I copy and paste the code from the Java program to the activity file in the onCreate method and change all of the input methods (Scanners) to work with the Android input? Or do I create variables in the activity file and pass them to the Java program (in the separate class)? (If so, how would I do that? the Java file starts from the main method: public static void main(String[] args) {) Also, will the print statements I have, System.out.println(...);, translate directly into the Android UI and print on the screen or do I have to modify those?

  • Get rid of all user data of Android application after bigger update

    Hi, I completely revamped an app. Tested it for a while on my device and emulator. The app worked fine. However when I updated the app through the Android market, my users experienced crashes. Since there is no way to properly debug this procedure I asume the crash is caused by old data which is not being removed from the device (probably from the onsavedstate bundle?!). Is there a way to do a "clean/total" reinstall without having the user to do it manually? Best Regards Johe

    I am trying to find the best way to solve the following problem. By best way I mean less complex. As an input a list of tuples (start,length) such: [(0,5),(0,1),(1,9),(5,5),(5,7),(10,1)] Each element represets a sequence by its start and length, for example (5,7) is equivalent to the sequence (5,6,7,8,9,10,11) - a list of 7 elements starting with 5. One can assume that the tuples are sorted by the start element. The output should return a non-overlapping combination of tuples that represent the longest continuos sequences(s). This means that, a solution is a subset of ranges with no overlaps and no gaps and is the longest possible - there could be more than one though. For example for the given input the solution is: [(0,5),(5,7)] equivalent to (0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11) is it backtracking the best approach to solve this problem ? I'm interested in any different approaches that people could suggest. Also if anyone knows a formal reference of this problem or another one that is similar I'd like to get references. BTW - this is not homework. Edit Just to avoid some mistakes this is another example of expected behaviour for an input like [(0,1),(1,7),(3,20),(8,5)] the right answer is [(3,20)] equivalent to (3,4,5,..,22) with length 20. Some of the answers received would give [(0,1),(1,7),(8,5)] equivalent to (0,1,2,...,11,12) as right answer. But this last answer is not correct because is shorter than [(3,20)].

  • Samsung UMPC, Built in Camera doesn't support DirectX how can I use it?

    The Samsung Q1 Ultra, is the perfect device for my software except that the built in camera seems to be incompatible with standard DirectX drivers, so my .Net camera implementation can't use the device. I have limited experience in this area.. Even Skype can't access this camera, but a little program from Samsung can.. I've looked at the program's assemblies and it's too obfuscated to see inside so I can't see anyway to use them.. What sort of camera could this be? Are there any .Net classes / implementations I can use to access this camera?

  • IE8 ignores jQuery UI 'dialog' minHeight and height settings

I'm having a problem where IE8 renders a scrollbar and appears to ignore the minHeight and height options in all the many different combinations I've tried them in.     Hi there I'm in the midst of a university project and have decided to implement a method that can accept information from a text file (in this instance called "locations.txt"). input from the text file will look like this: London 345 456 Madrid 234 345 Beinjing 345 456 Frankfurt 456 567 The function looks like this currently (and you will notice I am missing the While condition to finish adding input when reaches end of text in locations.txt, i tried using eof but this didnt work?!). I see two main possibilities; Pass it using Dependency Injection on the constructor. Get it via a singleton Service Locator. Which method would you prefer, and why? Or is there an even better pattern? Update: Note that I don't need to log ALL method calls. I only want to log a few (rare) events that may or may not occur within my method.

  • Webservice for serial port devices

    Hi I want to create a remote webservice for an application that is now avaliable only localy. This application controlls three devices (each is controlled separately) connected on serial port. The problem is that I don't know how to take care of passing back information that a device return requested data. For example - I send move command to the motion device (which is very slow and can take a minute or more). Can I just set a big timeout on the client side (and server side) and return for example a true/false if operation is completed or is this a bad idea? Is SOAP with big timeouts ok? And the other question is if Mono on Linux (Ubuntu 9.10, Mono 2.4) is stable enought for making a web service or should I chose Java or some other language? I'm open for recommendations.   • Display streaming video in desktop app.

    I have a Windows native desktop app (C++/Delphi), and I'm successfully using Directshow to display live video in it from a 'local' video capture device. The next thing I want to do is display video from a 'remote' capture device, streamed over the LAN. To stream the video, I guess I can use something like Expression Encoder or VLC, but I'm not sure what's the easiest way to receive/decode the streamed video. Inserting an ActiveX VLC or Flash player might be one option (although the licensing may be an issue then), but I was wondering if there's any way to achieve this with Directshow... Application needs to run on XP, and the video decoding should ideally be royalty free. Suggestions, please!

  • How can I dynamically set the default namespace declaration of an XSLT transformation's output XML?

    I can do it, but not for the default namespace, using the <xsl:namespace>. If I try to do it for the default namespace: <xsl:namespace name="" select"myUri"/> it never works. It demands that I explicitly define the namespace of the element to be able to use the above null prefix declaration. The reason I want this is because I have a task to transform an input XML file to another output xml. The output XML has many elements and i dont want to have to explicitly set the namespace for every element. Thats why I want to set the default and never bother again. But the default must be computed from some data in the source XML. It does not change during the whole transformation, but it is dependent on input XML data. Any solution? EDIT 1: To sup up: I want to create a namespace dynamically and set it to be the default namespace of the output xml document. The uri of the namespace is derived from some data in the input XML. If I use <xsl:namespace> in my root output element, I cannot create a default namespace for it, only a prefixed one. And even with the prefixed one, it does not propagate to children.

  • Processing forms that generate many rows in DB

    I'm wondering what the best approach to take here is. I've got a form that people use to register for a class and a lot of times the manager of a company will register multiple people for the class at the same time. Presently, they'd have to go through the registration process multiple times and resubmit the form once for every person they want to register. What I want to do is give the user a form that has a single <input/> for one person to register with, along with all the other fields they'll need to fill out (Email, phone number, etc); if they want to add more people, they'll be able to press a button and a new <input/> will be generated. This part I know how to do, but I'm including it to best describe what I'm aiming to do. The part I don't know how to approach is processing that data the form submits, I need some way of making a new row in the Registrant table for every <input/> that's added and include the same contact information (phone, email, etc) as the first row with that row. For the record, I'm using the Django framework for my back-end code. What's the best approach here? Should it just POST the form x times for x people, or is there a less "brute force" way of handling this?

  • What are the names of network interfaces on the Motorola CLIQ XT?

    The network interfaces on Android interfaces are listed as directories in the file system in /sys/class/net/. For most Android devices the network interface for gprs traffic is called rmnet0 and for Wi-Fi it's usually eth0 or tiwlan0. I suspect that the cell interface for the Motorola CLIQ XT is rmnet0, but I would like to have this confirmed + know the name of the Wi-Fi interface. Also it would be good to know the device id for this model. This is the value available as android.os.Build.DEVICE in the Java SDK. (E.g. T-Mobile G1 uses dream, Samsung Galaxy uses GT-I7500, and Motorolda Droid uses sholes.)

  • What is wrong with this attempt of sending a break-signal?

    I have quite a headache about this seemingly easy task: send a break signal to my device, like the wxTerm (or any similar Terminal application) does. This signal has to be 125ms long, according to my tests and the devices specification. It should result in a specific response, but what I get is a longer response than expected, and the transmitted date is false. e.g.: what it should respond 08 00 81 00 00 01 07 00 what it does respond 08 01 0A 0C 10 40 40 07 00 7F What really boggles me is, that after I have used wxTerm to look at my available com-ports (without connecting or sending anything), my code starts to work! I can send then as many breaks as I like, I get my response right from then on. I have to reset my PC in order to try it again. What the heck is going on here?!   • Why does XCode keep downloading old deleted profiles and duplicates of the same profile?

    If I refresh the profiles in XCode it: a) Pulls down ones that no longer exist. Profiles that have been deleted from the portal and are no longer there b) Pulls down multiple copies of the same profile. If I add a new device and then update the profiles to include that new device. Then XCode will pull down the new updated profile but also the same profile with an older date (even though the portal only shows one, the latest). If I delete them them XCode they re-appear. I'm having problems getting push notifications to work with an ad-hoc distrubtion and so want to ensure I am build with the latest profiles. This behaviour of XCode is irritating at least, and possibly the source of my problems at worst.

I can't test on FF/3.5.8 anymore, could someone please report the result from this browser on any plattform? I'm now thinking this is a Firefox 3.5.8 issue, plattform independent.

    When invoking a WCF service asynchronous there seems to be two ways it can be done. 1. public void One() { WcfClient client = new WcfClient(); client.BegindoSearch("input", ResultOne, null); } private void ResultOne(IAsyncResult ar) { WcfClient client = new WcfClient(); string data = client.EnddoSearch(ar); } 2. public void Two() { WcfClient client = new WcfClient(); client.doSearchCompleted += TwoCompleted; client.doSearchAsync("input"); } void TwoCompleted(object sender, doSearchCompletedEventArgs e) { string data = e.Result; } And with the new Task<T> class we have an easy third way by wrapping the synchronous operation in a task. 3. public void Three() { WcfClient client = new WcfClient(); var task = Task<string>.Factory.StartNew(() => client.doSearch("input")); string data = task.Result; } They all give you the ability to execute other code while you wait for the result, but I think Task<T> gives better control on what you execute before or after the result is retrieved. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to using one over the other? Or scenarios where one way of doing it is more preferable?

    Hello, I would like to ask for a little help here, since I haven't got any big knowledge in Javascript, nor in jQuery. I need to show 5 radio buttons when a checkbox is checked, the checkboxes represent languages that the user speaks, so for each of the selected, there should appear 5 separate radio buttons for how good they speak it(1 to 5). I tried to do it with jQuery, but I did not manage to get very far away...   • Using the AutoComplete feature of ComboBox, while limiting values to those in the list?

    In WinForms 2.0, a ComboBox has an Auto-Complete feature, that displays a custom Drop-Down list with only the values that start with the entered text. However, if I want to limit valid values to only those that appear in the ComboBox's list of items, I can do that by setting the DropDownStyle to DropDownList, which stops the user from entering a value. However, now I can't use the Auto-Complete feature, which requires user input. Is there another way to limit input to the list, while still allowing use of the Auto-Complete feature? Note that I have seen some custom solutions for this, but I really like the way the matching Auto-Complete items are displayed in a Drop-Down list, and sorted even though the original list may not be. EDIT: I have thought about just validating the entered value, i.e. testing user input if it is valid in, say, the TextChanged event, or even using the Validating event. The question then is what is the expected behavior? Do I clear their value (an empty value is also invalid), or do I use a default value? Closest matching value? P.s. Is there any other tags that I could add to this question?
