  • Counting context switches per thread

    Is there a way to see how many context switches each thread generates? (both in and out if possible) Either in X/s, or to let it run and give aggregated data after some time. (either on linux or on windows) I have found only tools that give aggregated context-switching number for whole os or per process. My program makes many context switches (50k/s), probably a lot not necessary, but I am not sure where to start optimizing, where do most of those happen.

    i have a linux server (ubuntu os) to which i have access via ssh and wish to install avisynth on it. i know windows apps can be installed with the help of wine, but the problem is how i manage to install the app (avisynth) thru ssh, that is, without graphical intarface? can wine be somehow configured to manage such a case? what should i do to install avisynth via ssh?     Is there anything wrong with the optimization of overloading the global operator new to round up all allocations to the next power of two? Theoretically, this would lower fragmentation at the cost of higher worst-case memory consumption, but does the OS already have redundant behavior with this technique, or does it do its best to conserve memory? Basically, given that memory usage isn't as much of an issue as performance, should I do this?

    I am trying to set up ANT build. However when I invoke build command helloworld_15/${NAME} does not exist. BUILD FAILED (total time: 0 seconds) Also the configure variables does not seems to be assigned. However i have set them into /etc/envitonment I tried echo $<varaiable_name> and value get displayed. Tried to google but not solutions seems am the first one having this issue. PS: OS Ubuntu 10.10
