  Hi everyone, I'm using Entity framework in web application. ObjectContext is created per request (using HttpContext), hereby code: string ocKey = "ocm_" + HttpContext.Current.GetHashCode().ToString(); if (!HttpContext.Current.Items.Contains(ocKey)) { HttpContext.Current.Items.Add(ocKey, new ElevationEntityModel(EFConnectionString)); } _eem = HttpContext.Current.Items[ocKey] as ElevationEntityModel; Not every time, but sometimes I have this exception: System.Data.MappingException was unhandled by user code Message=The type 'XXX' has been mapped more than once. Source=System.Data.Entity I'm absolutely confused and I don't have any idea what can caused this problem. Can anybody help me? Thanks.

• Extjs combobox - doQuery callback?

  Hi there, I'm using the following combobox: var cb = new Ext.form.ComboBox({ store: someDs, fieldLabel: 'test', valueField:'name', displayField:'name_id', typeAhead: true, minChars: 3, triggerAction: 'query' }); So when the user typed in 3 chars, a query to the server is made showing the proper results. Now I try to make the user input programmatically usint the doQuery() function of the combobox. After calling the doQuery() method, I want to seledct an Item via setValue(). cb.doQuery('myval'); cb.setValue('myval'); The problem is that setValue() can't select the propper value, because at the time it is called, the request started through doQuery() hasn't finished. So I need something like a callback in which I could use setValue() - but doQuery() doesn't seem to have a callback function. any ideas? thanks!

• How to parse Json object in ASP classic passed from jQuery

  Using a jQuery dialog, on clicking OK I call $.post( "save.asp", { id: 1, value: "abcxyz" } ); to pass the values to my ASP classic file that will update the database. I don't need a return value (unless it fails). I'm a relative noob to jQuery, so I'm assuming I'm using JSON to pass the values to the ASP file. I just don't know what to do with them in ASP (using VBScript). I've seen things like ASP Extreme, but I'm not clear on how to use them. I've tried referencing values via the Request collection, but no luck. All I want to do is take the values passed, parse them out, then save them to the database. Sorry if this is a duplicate, but this just isn't clicking for me.

  I am trying to formulate a work-around for the lack of a "checkbox group" in ASP.NET MVC. The typical way to implement this is to have check boxes of the same name, each with the value it represents. <input type="checkbox" name="n" value=1 /> <input type="checkbox" name="n" value=2 /> <input type="checkbox" name="n" value=3 /> When submitted, it will comma delimit all values to the request item "n".. so Request["n"] == "1,2,3" if all three are checked when submitted. In ASP.NET MVC, you can have a parameter of n as an array to accept this post. public ActionResult ActionName( int[] n ) { ... } All of the above works fine. The problem I have is that when validation fails, the check boxes are not restored to their checked state. Any suggestions. • OAuth::Problem (parameter_absent)

  Im working with OAuth 0.3.6 and the linkedin gem for a Rails application and I have this issue where OAuth throws an error saying that OAuth::Problem (parameter_absent). The thing is it doesn't throw the error on every occasion its called and the problem is I am unable to reproduce the issue locally to test it. The documentation says that : [parameter_absent: a required parameter wasn't received. In this case, the response SHOULD also contain an oauth_parameters_absent parameter. ] but the request is generated the same way each time to obtain the tokens so I fail to understand why this happens. • Error in PHP soap client to .NET soap Server

  PHP soap client in attempting to interact with a .NET soap server results in the following error: [soap:Receiver] Server was unable to process request. --- Invalid length for a Base-64 char array. $credentials = array( 'RequestorUID'=> 'xxxx', 'RequestorPassword'=> 'xxxx' ); $param = array('pmPropertyManagerID'=>'xxxx'); $client->GetPropertyStatus($credentials, $param); GetPropertyStatus take two arguments, a credentials object - which works correctly as other functions that only require credentials are executed correctly. The second argument is defineds as a string and I have attempted to input it directly as a string and base64_encoded string (error: Length of the data to decrypt is invalid), an array and an associative array both string and base64_encoded string and get the error above. Any help would be appreciated.

• HTML5 cache manifest: whitelisting ALL remote resources?

  I'm doing an iPhone version of a desktop site that includes a blog. The blog often embeds images from other domains (the image URLs always start with http:// in this case, obviously), but because I'm using cache-manifest, these images don't load because they aren't declared in the manifest file. I have a NETWORK: whitelist section that has all of my AJAX request files, etc. I've even whitelisted the flickr farm domains because a lot of the images we add to the blog come from our flickr page. The flickr images show up just fine, but any other "random" image hotlinks from another domain show broken. I tried adding a line like this: http:// to the NETWORK: section, but it doesn't seem to like http:// as a whitelist. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks! Alex

But I don't want a list that shows: SG MV I want a list that shows: Song Movie I can do this on an individual object basis if I was in the template object.get_type_display But how do I get a list of all of the unique "type" entries in the database as their full names for output into a template? I hope this question was clearly described. . .

• XCOPY to remote server

  In order to improve the deployment / build process of my ASP.NET app, I would like to make a .bat that builds the current solution in release mode xcopy the files to a remote server Creating a release build via command line is easy. But how can I xcopy the files to the remote server? I think I have to map the remote destination to a network drive (?). However I could not connect to the remote server, although I have enabled file sharing for the folder on the server. Maybe the firewall is blocking the request? Which port should I open? Or is there another solution? EDIT Thanks for all the answers so far, but I probably need a step by step guide on how to set up the folder sharing on the server. I shared the folder, I opened up port 445 so that I can connect to the server but still, I cant connect from my local machine to the server in order to map the network path to a system drive.

  script: http://keith-wood.name/countdown.htm daily json response: items: { fajr: '5:23 am', sharooq: '7:23 am', dhur: '1:34 pm', asr: '4:66 pm': magrib: '6:23 pm', isha: '8:01 pm'} when site loads i make ajax request and get the above response times, these are events that happens daily for everyday, but different timing. i want to get that time and put a count down on how many minitues left or hours or seconds and show that and once the seconds are done, then show how many minitues ago that event took place, after 15 minitues later show new even count down. so following on how it will look on display dhur 2 hours left dhur 2 minutes left (if no longer hours left) dhur 55 seconds left (if no longer minutes left) dhur 5 seconds ago (if count down finished and then show how many seconds ago) dhur 9 minutes ago (if extended more then seconds, then show how many minutes ago) asr 1 hour left (after 15 minutes later time changes to new event) this is kind of very simple for pro in javascript and really complicated for me, so need your guys help, if the script im using not good and you prefer some other script for this kind of task, please share with me, it dont have to be jquery script, but helps if its jquery.

• ASP.NET MVC authentication for iPhone application

  This is for an ASP.NET MVC application. For browser based access on my normal controllers, I'm using standard forms authentication and auth cookies. My question is how I do the same for an iPhone application. I have a set of RESTful controllers that the iPhone application uses directly, but I'm not sure how to go about authentication... I was thinking of having a special Login method that returns the auth cookie. Then I can use the standard Authentication attribute on the ASP.NET MVC side, but I'm not sure how to handle this on the iPhone side? Can I store this cookie and have it automatically sent with every request? Perhaps there's a better approach altogether?

• soapUI - any way to automatically generate input data?

  I've just started looking at soapUI, and it seems to be a pretty good web service testing tool. It can automatically generate request SOAP messages with all the elements from the WSDL in there, no problem. However, what would be splendid is if it could automatically generate sample random input data, using the WSDL as a guide. For example, if my service is expecting a string, an enumeration, and a date-time, it seems like it wouldn't be too hard for the tool to generate one or more messages with valid values. Is such a feature available in soapUI, either natively or as a plug-in, or am I over-simplifying this?

• Performance implications of Synchronous Sockets vs Asynchronous Sockets

  We are trying to build an SMTP Server to receive mail notifications from various clients over internet. As each of the communication will be longer and it needs to log everything, doing this Asynchronous way is little challenging as well as by using Socket's Asynchronous methods we are not sure of how flow of control and error handling happens. Previously we wrote lot of server/client apps but we always used Synchronous sockets, reason being they are longer sessions and each session also has lot of local data to manage and parsing messages etc. Does anyone have any experience over real performance differences between these two methods? Async calls use ThreadPool which we have experienced many times to just die for no reason. And we fail to restart threadpool etc. In one way Request-Response protocol of HTTP, Async Sockets makes sense, but SMTP/IMAP etc protocols are longer and they have interleaved messages plus state machine of server. So Async methods are really complicated to program. However if anyone can share the performance of Sockets, it will be helpful.

  Hello everyone, I am using VSTS 2008 + C# + .Net 3.5 + Silverlight 3.0 + ASP.Net to develop a Silverlight application (a video media player) in browser and the function is simple, just use MediaElement to play a remote video file. The remote server is Windows Server 2008 + IIS 7.0 + IIS Media Bit Rate Throttling Control. Since the request media URL can be discovered (e.g. from traffic sniffer), and I want to know how to prevent from download directly from the Url? i.e. I want end user to use my Silverlight media player application in browser to play the file, prevent them from download to local directly. Any easy and quick solution or reference code/documents? thanks in advance, George

  Hello, Is there a way to modify the HTTP response code when using apache axis 1.4 for java? This would be useful for testing purposes, for example simulating server side errors. I've already tried the following: Set the HTTP code directly in the http servlet Request: MessageContext context = MessageContext.getCurrentContext(); HttpServletResponse response = (HttpServletResponse) context.getProperty( HTTPConstants.MC_HTTP_SERVLETRESPONSE); response.setStatus(e.getErrorCode()); // no effect Set the HTTP code as axis message context property: MessageContext context = MessageContext.getCurrentContext(); context.setProperty(HTTPConstants.MC_HTTP_STATUS_CODE, e.getErrorCode()); But this didn't seem to work, the actual HTTP code always was 200. The app pool created by this script is in Classic mode not Integrated mode so none of the handlers get run correctly. How can I correctly install an MVC app on IIS 7?

  I have a .NET 3.5 based web service running at http://localhost/serivce.svc/. Then I have an ASP.NET application running at http://localhost/myApp. In Application_Load my application reads some XML configuration from the web service. That works fine on my machine, but: On Windows Vista with IIS 7 the request to the web services fails. The web service can be accessed via the browser without any problem. I configured the app pool of my application to run as admin. I added the admin to the IIS_USRS group, but it still cannot access the web service. impersonate=true/false seems not to make a difference.

• 12.04 upgrade broke grub? (not wubi related)

  I just updated from 11.10 to 12.04, with no major problems (it took a while to get past a request to restart ssh, mysql and some other services, but I did no fiddling by myself, everything was done by the installer). However, after restarting, grub can't do anything. Picking the new linux installation (first entry), I just get error: no such partition error: no such partition error: no such partition and picking the recovery-version just gives 5 lines instead of 3. I have windows 7 installed on a different drive, and can run it by booting from that drive instead. Picking it from the grub menu gives the same error as above (can't remember how many lines, though). I'll be honest and say that I don't remember if win 7 could be booted from grub before the update, though. In short, nothing on the grub menu works. any solutions? The grub menu changed appearance - before it was on a purple background, small letters, now it's white-on-black, big letters, looking very basic. The original installation was from a usb-drive, and I hadn't heard about wubi until I started googling this problem, so I doubt there's any connection. I really hope there are some grub-savvy people out there :) EDIT: ok. so, I made a bootable usb, and am running from that right now. when I ran the bootinfoscript, it warned me that "gawk" could not be found, using "busybox awk" instead. This may lead to unreliable results. just so you know. • Privilege Elevation only when and if required.

  My application only very occasionally requires privilege elevation... I need to reference some 3rd party COM components that only work correctly when run as administrator. I would like my application to request privilege elevation only when it needs it... Generally, I don't want my application to run as administrator unless I need to use the 3rd party COM components. I see that CoCreateAsAdmin could potentially solve the problem, but the component author doesn't set up the required registry entries, and I'm not sure how to use CoCreateAsAdmin in C# and in conjuction with Runtime-Callable-Wrapper that is created by tlbimp. Another solution would be to spawn another process, but I have no experience with this yet... I don't want to create a completely separate application... I would be happy to create an assembly that runs in a separated elevated process if someone can show me how to make it work. Thanks...

When an SSL request is made with my employer's iPhone, this error message is displayed: Accept Website Certificate The certificate for this website is invalid. Tap Accept to connect to this website anyway. I've pulled up the same pages in other browsers, including Safari, and they do not show any issues with the certs. The processing can be of 10-15 minutes.I want to disable the SAVE button till process ends and once process completes, the SAVE button should be enabled. I tried the following but couldnot solve the problem: 1)Client Side Scripting: I called a java script on client clik of button and set the disable property to true.How ever, server side saveButton_Click event is not called because of disabling the button on client side. 2)Disabling in saveButton_Click method on server side: In this case, as the call of saveButton_Click already happend and requested is sent to server,the client side is as it without any difference until the request is processed.   Hey, I would like to make an program that acts like a big filter for stocks. To do so, I need to have real-time (or delayed) quotes from the market. I started getting stock quotes by requesting pages from yahoo, accordingand parsing the html to the ticker, and parsing the html. I was wondering how to do this requesting and parsing html. Is there some way I can request only the stock quotes and its info? I know some applications do this, and I am very curious how they do it, because requesting web pages and parsing them is very time-consuming. Thanks, Dave
