• Html newbie! background-image question

  Hi! I'm learning HTML and I wanted to practice by recreating a invoice sent to me by Electronics Expo. However, I used the background-image property and repeated it by repeat-x and now, the background stretches across the page so much that it has a horizontal bar to drag. http://htmlpocketreference.110mb.com/index.html You can see what I did in my link above. • DeferWindowPos and SWP_SHOWWINDOW/SWP_HIDEWINDOW

  I am writing a virtual desktop application which utilises the DeferWindowPos API functions. The current method I am using is moving the windows off the screen if they're not on the current virtual desktop. However I know wish to also hide the windows that are off-screen so they do not appear on the task bar. I have attempted this by also passing SWP_SHOWWINDOW/SWP_HIDEWINDOW to the DeferWindowPos() calls. I have read a few sites regarding this and one of them suggested that if SWP_SHOWWINDOW/SWP_HIDEWINDOW are passed, then the window will only show or hide, and no reposition. Can anyone confirm this, or am I doing something wrong?

  Hey, I have two tables in one DB, one called Cottages and one called Hotels. In both tables they have the same named fields. I basically have a search bar that i want it to search in both of the fields in both of the tables. (the two fields being called "Name" and "Location" SO far I have $sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM Cottages WHERE Name LIKE '%$term%' or Location LIKE '%$term%' LIMIT 0, 30"); But this only searches the Cottages table, how can I make it search both the cottages and hotel tables?   HI, I am making my own scroll bar. in which i made this code below i pasted. i am getting the issue from this code. i) in the first time i am pressing "#scroller" that works fine. ii) in case of second or other time when i am enter into "#scroller" itself, i am getting the alert "hi", instead of i am pressing the "#scroller", i know that i am doing some wrong this with my code, but i unable to find the mistake. • Hide Segemented Control on NavBar, then add Title

  Basically I have a Segmented Controller on my NavBar right in the middle. What I want to be able to do is hide the Segmented Controller and add a title to the navigation bar. But with my code, the segmented controller is being hidden, but the title will not add, thus leaving a blank NavBar. This is my simple code in .h: IBOutlet UISegmentedControl *toggleDay; IBOutlet UINavigationBar *navBar; And this is my code in my .m: toggleDay.hidden = YES; navBar.topItem.title = @"Title"; Any help would be great thanks!

• How to make a page print to printer just once

  I have a basic html page generated through php and it prints to a printer after a link click using Ben Nadel's print plugin. However, I don't want the user to print the page again. I tried setting the 'print' link to a negative z-index using jquery after it's being clicked, but the user can refresh the page and reuse the link so it would print again. I also know that I can somehow disable the refresh feature, by modifying what F5 does, but that would't save the day since the user can refresh the page through the url bar, and I can't remove/hide, it as much as I know. It also runs on localhost so the user client and server are on the same side. Even the browser doesn't matter since I could use the one that fits this case.

  I need little help with transferring data from variables, arrays, lists to my SQL Server. Im not bad in SQL, but im not familiar with DataSet, DataTable objects. My data is now stored in list of strings (List). Every string in that list looks similar to this: QWERTY,19920604,0.91,0.35,0.34,0.35,343840 There are about 900000 rows like this. Target datatypes in SQL Server: BIGINT (primary key, im not inserting it, its identity(1,1)) VARCHAR(10), DATE, DECIMAL(10,2), DECIMAL(10,2), DECIMAL(10,2), DECIMAL(10,2), INT How to convert that data to SQL Server data types? How to insert that data into SQL Server? Also i need some progress bar updates between inserts. I could do this using old-fashion SQL command, but i have learn more modern way :)

  I want to make a textbook where it starts out as a given width/height. Then if users type more then the given amount of space, the textbox expands downward. How do I go about doing this? Do I use css? The basic textbox just displays a scroll bar when users pass the number of rows allow.   I am making a simple online application. I have a navigation bar with a few buttons and one "div" into which all the new contents will be loaded dynamically i.e. when I click "About", it will load the page parts into the "div" without reloading the whole page with .load() function. The problem is: what if I need to give a link to the Documents section of my web site, or the user wants to store this kind of link, the url is not rewritten when browsing my site. when the user stores the default link it will always link him to the default "Home" part. How can I rewrite the URL and what is the most correct way to do this?

  I have a treeview control that gets populated at runtime with a pyramid of employee names. I put the css scrollbar on the view by putting overflow:auto" in the tag where the treeview is located. The users are now asking me to to have the scrollbar go down in the treeview where a treeview item is selected. How do I make a scroll bar to go to a place where the treeview has been selected? Note: treeView1.SelectedNode.EnsureVisible(); is not available in asp.net need another way.

  I have an asp.net webform. I have the background as an image,that when i aslo have a menu bar, when i click on an icon, it uses response.redirect() to redirect to a new page, but when it loads up the page, it seems like the background image is slow. I can see the backgroud as white first and then split seconds later the background image will load up, this causes an illusion of flickering when it redirects to a new page. How do i solve this problem? When i tested using visual studio web server, it dont flicker. I am using a background image in the master page hosted up on the internet.

My thoughts: Windows 7: I can create giant full-screen widget that will show my page. Still have no idea if I will be able to navigate inside it though. Windows Vista: ???. I know there is still a side bar gadget that hosts a browser. Windows XP: create static html page with iframe pointing to corporate app home page. Problem: clicking links on page still opens default browser.

  Hi All, I have to solve a defect. The defect is there is a scroll bar attached to the vertical cascading menu. When I try to scroll through the items using the scrollbar , the menu disappears. That is, When i place the mouse over the scrollbar the menu disappears. But when i scroll the items through the mouse, the scrollbar is also moving. Can anyone help me out in this issue? • CALayer not obeying object ownership rules?

  I have a custom CALayer - UIProgressLayer - for simulating a progress bar. There is a dispatched GC timer involved to animate its intermediate state. So thats the layer I'm talking about here, although i don't think the problem is restricted to this particular subclass because a CALayer with only the -release and -dealloc overridden produces the same outcome. The problem is when i send this layer, for instance, a theLayer.opacity = 0.5f a -release message is sent to the layer, thus deallocating my layer. Why is this happening? Has it something to do with how the whole CA system works? But it still has to obey the object ownership rules right? I was thinking maybe it creates a copy of that layer for the fading, but that's not the case.

• Optimising Androidplot

  Seems Androidplot (androidplot.com) website/forums are down so I'll try asking this question here. I have multi touch zoom and scrolling. Similar code to http://mlepicki.com/2012/03/androidplot-multitouch-zoom-scroll/ except that I have a bar graph instead. However with 100 data points it has noticeable lag. Even with 10 bars are just showing. Sounds like its drawing/calculating/etc all bars. Any idea on how I could optimise this? I can't use hardware rendering as I want to support Android 2.1 and the library doesn't support it(it breaks).

• Hyperlink (a href) with a pound sign at the end doesn't do anything in Firefox

  I have a link that is somewhat like this: <a href="------.html#video">Text</a> It works fine in IE but not in Firefox. In Firefox it shows the new URL on the address bar but doesn't update or change anything in terms of content. Somehow the "#" is causing Firefox to ignore updating the page. I tried using Javascript "window.location" and "window.location.href" and all sorts of other things but it still doesn't work. Does anyone have any idea how to fix it? Thanks!

• How to handle feedback from background threads if the user uses the back button?

  I have the following problem: I have an Activity where a user can start a web search showing a new activity to show a progress bar until the results are shown. Now the user can either wait for the results or maybe think about the search parameters, hit the back button and triggering a new search. The search is running in an Async Task and therefor still running if the user hits back. At the moment the thread finishes it calls some methods on the old activity causing the activity to show a dialog. This causes the system to crash because the dialog tries to show itself with a reference to an activity that is not longer present on the screen. How can I achieve a dialog that is only shown if the activity is still active?

  I have mod_rewrite working on most of my site. Right now I have a search that normally would point to search.php?keyword=KEYWORD And I'm trying to rewrite that to search/?keyword=KEYWORD Just to make it a little bit cleaner. So here's my mod_rewrite. (There are other rules I'm just posting the one that isn't working.) RewriteRule ^search/?keyword=([^/\.]+)/?$ search.php?search=$1 When I type a search in the address bar way I want it to be, I get a page telling me its a "broken link" (I'm guessing that that's Chrome's equivalent of a 404 error). So what am I doing wrong? I think that the problem is the '=' or the '?' sign in the rule (the first part) because when I take the ?keyword= part out, it works. Does that make sense?

• Hiding part of a page from Search Server 2010 Express

  I'm working on a soon-to-be-public-facing site, and we want to have our search live on day 1, and want it to be searchable but non-public during testing, so we're planning to use something whose crawling we can control -- Search Server 2010 Express. However, if I search for something in my top navigation bar, I get nearly every page as a hit. It kinda makes sense, as every page has that content, but it's completely irrelevant on most pages. I want it to crawl through my navigation, but ignore the text within the navigation for search results. I was hoping that it'd just figure that out on it's own (the HTML for the top nav is static), but it's apparently not. Is there some standard thing I can put in my HTML that will achieve the effect I'm going for? On a side note: when I go live, will I have the same problem with public search engines, or do they tend to be smarter?
