  Hey, I have two tables in one DB, one called Cottages and one called Hotels. In both tables they have the same named fields. I basically have a search bar that i want it to search in both of the fields in both of the tables. (the two fields being called "Name" and "Location" SO far I have $sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM Cottages WHERE Name LIKE '%$term%' or Location LIKE '%$term%' LIMIT 0, 30"); But this only searches the Cottages table, how can I make it search both the cottages and hotel tables? • Windows Mobile 6.5 flick (scrolling with inertia) not working

  After upgrading to windows mobile 6.5, my ListView control does not work properly with custom items (rows with alternate colors) and the new gesture mechanism... On a mobile device, if the user initiates a flick or pan, after scrolling the first few items, the last items are not shown on the screen, but will show up if the user explicitly taps on them -- so basically the last screen is just white. The WM_DRAWITEM message is sent to all children though, but they just don't show up on the screen. Scrolling with a bar works fine. Any ideas? I have seen some reports of similar behavior from other users, but not sure if this is a bug in the listview control itself or if there is something else that needs to/can be implemented to support flick and pan actions. The application code currently doesn't handle WM_GESTURE messages, so the flick action is done with Microsoft's own code to support legacy applications. Thanks!

• Erroneous/Incorrect C2248 error using Visual Studio 2010

  I'm seeing what I believe to be an erroneous/incorrect compiler error using the Visual Studio 2010 compiler. I'm in the process of up-porting our codebase from Visual Studio 2005 and I ran across a construct that was building correctly before but now generates a C2248 compiler error. Obviously, the code snippet below has been generic-ized, but it is a compilable example of the scenario. The ObjectPtr<T> C++ template comes from our codebase and is the source of the error in question. What appears to be happening is that the compiler is generating a call to the copy constructor for ObjectPtr<T> when it shouldn't (see my comment block in the SomeContainer::Foo() method below). For this code construct, there is a public cast operator for SomeUsefulData * on ObjectPtr<SomeUsefulData> but it is not being chosen inside the true expression if the ?: operator. Instead, I get the two errors in the block quote below. Based on my knowledge of C++, this code should compile. Has anyone else seen this behavior? If not, can someone point me to a clarification of the compiler resolution rules that would explain why it's attempting to generate a copy of the object in this case? • Hide Segemented Control on NavBar, then add Title

  Basically I have a Segmented Controller on my NavBar right in the middle. What I want to be able to do is hide the Segmented Controller and add a title to the navigation bar. But with my code, the segmented controller is being hidden, but the title will not add, thus leaving a blank NavBar. This is my simple code in .h: IBOutlet UISegmentedControl *toggleDay; IBOutlet UINavigationBar *navBar; And this is my code in my .m: toggleDay.hidden = YES; navBar.topItem.title = @"Title"; Any help would be great thanks!

  I am making a simple online application. I have a navigation bar with a few buttons and one "div" into which all the new contents will be loaded dynamically i.e. when I click "About", it will load the page parts into the "div" without reloading the whole page with .load() function. The problem is: what if I need to give a link to the Documents section of my web site, or the user wants to store this kind of link, the url is not rewritten when browsing my site. when the user stores the default link it will always link him to the default "Home" part. How can I rewrite the URL and what is the most correct way to do this?

  I want to make a textbook where it starts out as a given width/height. Then if users type more then the given amount of space, the textbox expands downward. How do I go about doing this? Do I use css? The basic textbox just displays a scroll bar when users pass the number of rows allow. • How to make a page print to printer just once

  I have a basic html page generated through php and it prints to a printer after a link click using Ben Nadel's print plugin. However, I don't want the user to print the page again. I tried setting the 'print' link to a negative z-index using jquery after it's being clicked, but the user can refresh the page and reuse the link so it would print again. I also know that I can somehow disable the refresh feature, by modifying what F5 does, but that would't save the day since the user can refresh the page through the url bar, and I can't remove/hide, it as much as I know. It also runs on localhost so the user client and server are on the same side. Even the browser doesn't matter since I could use the one that fits this case.

How to insert that data into SQL Server? Also i need some progress bar updates between inserts. I could do this using old-fashion SQL command, but i have learn more modern way :)

• asp.net page flickers

  I have an asp.net webform. I have the background as an image,that when i aslo have a menu bar, when i click on an icon, it uses response.redirect() to redirect to a new page, but when it loads up the page, it seems like the background image is slow. I can see the backgroud as white first and then split seconds later the background image will load up, this causes an illusion of flickering when it redirects to a new page. How do i solve this problem? When i tested using visual studio web server, it dont flicker. I am using a background image in the master page hosted up on the internet.

• How to handle feedback from background threads if the user uses the back button?

  I have the following problem: I have an Activity where a user can start a web search showing a new activity to show a progress bar until the results are shown. Now the user can either wait for the results or maybe think about the search parameters, hit the back button and triggering a new search. The search is running in an Async Task and therefor still running if the user hits back. At the moment the thread finishes it calls some methods on the old activity causing the activity to show a dialog. This causes the system to crash because the dialog tries to show itself with a reference to an activity that is not longer present on the screen. How can I achieve a dialog that is only shown if the activity is still active?

• Optimising Androidplot

  Seems Androidplot (androidplot.com) website/forums are down so I'll try asking this question here. I have multi touch zoom and scrolling. Similar code to http://mlepicki.com/2012/03/androidplot-multitouch-zoom-scroll/ except that I have a bar graph instead. However with 100 data points it has noticeable lag. Even with 10 bars are just showing. Sounds like its drawing/calculating/etc all bars. Any idea on how I could optimise this? I can't use hardware rendering as I want to support Android 2.1 and the library doesn't support it(it breaks).

• CALayer not obeying object ownership rules?

  I have a custom CALayer - UIProgressLayer - for simulating a progress bar. There is a dispatched GC timer involved to animate its intermediate state. So thats the layer I'm talking about here, although i don't think the problem is restricted to this particular subclass because a CALayer with only the -release and -dealloc overridden produces the same outcome. The problem is when i send this layer, for instance, a theLayer.opacity = 0.5f a -release message is sent to the layer, thus deallocating my layer. Why is this happening? Has it something to do with how the whole CA system works? But it still has to obey the object ownership rules right? I was thinking maybe it creates a copy of that layer for the fading, but that's not the case.

• why is link generated in YUI javascript failing to render in rails?

  Using YAHOO.widget.treeview to generate a table with three levels of data: module, submodule, and detail. If there is an image associated with a detail row the javascript generates a link: "<td><a href=\"/screenshot/show/" + rowData.id + "\">Screenshot</a></td>" that is appended to the html for the row. The url is generated correctly and the link appears. When clicked nothing happens except the word 'Done' appears in the browser status bar. Am calling the very same url from another page that does not use javascript and the screenshot page appears as expected.
