• Error accessing a Web Service with SSL

  I have a program that is supposed to send a file to a web service, which requires an SSL connection. • Large virtual memory size of ElasticSearch JVM

  I am running a JVM to support ElasticSearch. I am still working on sizing and tuning, so I left the JVM's max heap size at ElasticSearch's default of 1GB. After putting data in the database, I find that the JVM's process is showing 50GB in SIZE in top output. It appears that this is actually causing performance problems on the system; other processes are having trouble allocating memory. In asking the ElasticSearch community, they suggested that it's "just" filesystem caching. In my experience, filesystem caching doesn't show up as memory used by a particular process. Of course, they may have been talking about something other than the OS's filesystem cache, maybe something that the JVM or ElasticSearch itself is doing on top of the OS. But they also said that it would be released if needed, and that didn't seem to be happening. So can anyone help me figure out how to tune the JVM, or maybe ElasticSearch itself, to not use so much RAM. System is Solaris 10 x86 with 72GB RAM. JVM is "Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_45-b18)".

• How to stop UITableView moveRowAtIndexPath from leaving blank rows upon reordering

  I am having an issue where in reordering my UITableViewCells, the tableView is not scrolling with the cell. Only a blank row appears and any subsequent scrolling gets an Array out of bounds error without any of my code in the Stack Trace. Here is a quick video of the problem. • tinymce not working with chrome when i dynamically setcontent

Now, the Java versions on the two machines are slightly different. Both the machines have Sun's java, the Linux machine has 1.6.0_10, while the Windows machine has 1.6.0_08, or maybe 07 or 06, I can't remember the exact number right now, and don't have the machine at hand. But even though the minor versions of the Javas are slightly different, the code shouldn't break like this. Does anyone understand what's wrong here?

• Which OAuth library do you find works best for Objective-C/iPhone?

  I have been looking to switch to OAuth for my Twitter integration code and now that there is a deadline in less than 7 weeks (see countdown link) it is even more important to make the jump to OAuth. I have been doing Basic Authentication which is extremely easy. Unfortunately OAuth does not appear to be something that I would whip together in a couple of hours. http://www.countdowntooauth.com/ So I am looking to use a library. I have put together the following list. MPOAuth MGTwitterEngine OAuthConsumer I see that MPOAuth has some great features with a good deal of testing code in place but there is one big problem. It does not work. The sample iPhone project that is supposed to authenticate with Twitter causes an error which others have identified and logged as a bug. http://code.google.com/p/mpoauthconnection/issues/detail?id=29 The last code change was March 11 and this bug was filed on March 30. It has been over a month and this critical bug has not been fixed yet. So I have moved on to MGTwitterEngine. I pulled down the source code and loaded it up in Xcode. Immediately I find that there are a few dependencies and the README file does not have a clear list of steps to fetch those dependencies and integrate them with the project so that it builds successfully. I see this as a sign that the project is not mature enough for prime time. I see also that the project references 2 libraries for JSON when one should be enough. One is TouchJSON which has worked well for me so I am again discouraged from relying on this project for my applications. I did find that MGTwitterEngine makes use of OAuthConsumer which is one of many OAuth projects hosted by an OAuth project on Google Code. http://code.google.com/p/oauth/ http://code.google.com/p/oauthconsumer/wiki/UsingOAuthConsumer It looks like OAuthConsumer is a good choice at first glance. It is hosted with other OAuth libraries and has some nice documentation with it. I pulled down the code and it builds without errors but it does have many warnings. And when I run the new Build and Analyze feature in Xcode 3.2 I see 50 analyzer results. • ModalPopup CodeBehind Function Wait For User Response

  I have set up a function which returns an enum of the button that the user clicked in the ModalPopup. I have a variable of type enum to store which button the user clicks in the button click event. In this function, I call the ModalPopupExtender's Show() method. My problem is, the function finishes out and returns the default enum (which is "none" since no button was clicked yet) before the ModalPopup can be shown and store which button the user clicks. So without changing the function to a method and using a different way to store the user's button click, how can I pause the function after the Show() method of the MPE has been called and wait for the user to click a button? Edit(11/20/2009): Clarification: On the aspx page, I include a ScriptManager, PlaceHolder, and an asp:Button with a codebehind click event. What I want is to click the button, then in the click event handler, I want to call a custom static class function that returns a variable. One of the arguments it takes is the PlaceHolder. The function creates all the necessary controls in the PlaceHolder needed to display a ModalPopup. It calls the created ModalPopupExtender's Show() method. What should happen: At this point is the ModalPopup gets displayed, the user clicks a button, that button's event handler fires, the button sets a variable indicating that it was clicked, it then calls the ModalPopupExtender's .Hide() method, and then the function returns the variable that indicates which button was clicked. We then return to the event handler from the original button that was clicked and the programmer can then perform some logic based on what variable was returned. Crux: When the ModalPopupExtender's .Show() method gets called, it does not display the ModalPopup until AFTER the function returns a default variable (because no button was clicked yet) and after the event handler from the original button that was clicked ends. What I need: After the ModalPopupExtender's .Show() method is called, I need the ModalPopup to get displayed immediately and I need the function to wait for a button click to be made from the ModalPopup. My thoughts: Some PostBack needs to be made to the page telling it to update and display the ModalPopup Panel. Then maybe a while loop can be run in the function that waits for a button to be clicked in the ModalPopup.

• SerialPort ReadLine() after Thread.Sleep() goes crazy

  Hi everybody, I've been fighting with this issue for a day and I can't find answer for it. I am trying to read data from GPS device trough COM port in Compact Framework C#. I am using SerialPort class (actually my own ComPort class boxing SerialPort, but it adds only two fields I need, nothing special). Anyway.. I am running while loop in a separate thread which reads line from the port, analyze NMEA data, print them, catch all exceptions and then I Sleep(200) the thread, cause I need CPU for other threads... Without Sleep it works fine, but uses 100% CPU.. Yes, this is a homework, if it wasn't obvious. I still have few weeks to crack this but I have spent few days already trying to get how exactly this algorithm works with no success so I don't think I will get any brighter during that time.

• Tomato OS: "memory exhausted" running vi .... how to solve?

  I have set up tomato (shibby) on an asus RT-N66U router. It works great. I loaded up a few pieces, like transmission and optware. I can run vi, but when I run vi it fails with a "memory exhausted" error, and the terminal session hangs. For reference: If I simply start "vi" it runs fine. But if I specify vi I get the memory exhausted error, even if the file I am opening is just a couple of hundred bytes in size (like fstab). I discovered that my swap partition was not properly set up, so I did that. • how to correctly mount fat32 partition in Ubuntu in order to preserve case

  I've found there are couple of problems might be related how my FAT32 partition was mounted. I hope you can help me to solve the problem. I also included the command I used to help others when they find this post, sorry to those might feel I should use less space. • Filtering a dropdown in Angular IE11 issue

  I have a requirement for a select html element that can be duplicated multiple times on a page. The options for these select elements all come from a master list. All of the select elements can only show all of the items in the master list that have not been selected in any of the other select elements unless they just were duplicated. So I wrote a custom filter to do this in Angular and it seems to work just fine provided you are not using IE11. In IE when you select a new item from a duplicated select element, it seems to select the option after the one you selected even though the model still has the correct one set. I realize this sounds convoluted, so I created a jFiddle example. Using IE 11 try these steps: Select Bender Click the duplicate link Select Fry Notice that the one that is selected is Leela but the model still has Fry (id:2) as the one selected Now if you do the same thing in Chrome everything works as expected. Can anyone tell me how I might get around this or what I might be doing wrong?
