  • Unable to get simple ruby on rails Search to work :/

    I am new to RoR, any help would be greatly appreciated :) I have a basic scaffolding CRUD app to add customers. I am trying to search by first_name or last_name fields. The error that I am getting is: NoMethodError in Clientes#find You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! You might have expected an instance of Array.   • South migration error: NoMigrations exception for django.contrib.auth

    I have been using South on my project for a while, but I recently did a huge amount of development and changed development machine and I think something messed up in the process. The project works fine, but I can't apply migrations.     I got this from php.net website. This is related to the problem I am having with tho code below. Can anyone explain me what the following does. I am using Vista. What does running Word on server implies? In order to get the Word example running, do the following on the server side. Worked for me... 1. Click START--RUN and enter "dcomcnfg" 2. In the "Applications" tab, go down to "Microsoft Word Document" 3. Click PROPERTIES button 4. Go to the "Security" Tab 5. Click "Use custom access permissions", and then click EDIT 6. Click ADD and then click SHOW USERS 7. Highlight the IIS anonymous user account (usually IUSR_), click ADD 8. Go back to the "Security" tab by hitting OK 9. Click "Use custom launch permissions", and the click EDIT 10. Click ADD and then click SHOW USERS 11. Highlight the IIS anonymous user account (usually IUSR_), click ADD 12. Hit OK, and then hit APPLY. Also, you should look at the "Identity" tab in the Microsoft Word Document PROPERTIES and see that it is set to "Interactive User" ALSO, log into the machine AS the IUSR_ account, start word, and make sure to click through the dialog boxes that Word shows the first time it is run for a certain user. I'm using the python rsa package (http://stuvel.eu/rsa) for imitating the javascript result, i'm a newbie to python world and have no idea to traslate javascript algorithm code to the python code.   • Sendmail in Nexenta core 3.0.1

    I'm trying to setup sendmail in Nexenta core 3.0.1 (Solaris based OS). All I want is to be able to send emails from that host - like notifications about failures, cron jobs output etc. Initially Nexenta core doesn't have sendmail so here is what I've done: apt-get install sunwsndmu Now there is a sendmail in /usr/sbin/sendmail. When I try to send email from command line: $mail maxim test . How do I do that in Nexenta? svcs -a | grep sendmail doesn't return anything and # svcadm enable sendmail svcadm: Pattern 'sendmail' doesn't match any instances I'm not married to sendmail so if there are easier ways to achieve y goal I'm open to suggestions as well.   • Dual booting Linux/Win7, Grub refuses to load Win7

    Decided to give Linux Mint a try (Ubuntu's interface annoys me), so I installed it with the intention of dual booting with Windows 7. Installation went fine, but now I can only boot into Linux Mint. Grub lists two Windows 7 menu options, but selecting either of them causes an "unknown file system" error and dumps me into a Grub recovery prompt. There, I have to manually reset the root and prefix options, as they reset hd0,msdos6 when they should be hd0,msdos5. I ran Boot Repair twice, once to fix grub errors, once to rebuild the MBR, but it didn't fix anything.   • Why are emails sent from my applications being marked as spam?

    Hi. I have 2 web apps running on the same server. The first is www.nimikri.com and the other is www.hourjar.com. Both apps share the same IP address (75.127.100.175). My server is through a shared hosting company. I've been testing my apps, and at first all my emails were being delivered to me just fine. Then a few days ago every email from both apps got dumped into my spam box (in gmail and google apps). So far the apps have just been sending emails to me and nobody else, so I know people aren't manually flagging them as spam. I did a reverse DNS lookup for my IP and the results I got were these: 100.127.75.in-addr.arpa NS DNS2.GNAX.NET. 100.127.75.in-addr.arpa NS DNS1.GNAX.NET. Should the reverse DNS lookup point to nimikri.com and hourjar.com, or are they set up fine the way they are? I noticed in the email header these 2 lines: Received: from nimikri.nimikri.com From: Hour Jar <[email protected]> Would the different domain names be causing gmail to think this is spam?     I need to communicate with a RS232 device, I have no specs or information available. I send a 16 byte command and get a 16 byte result back. The last byte looks like some kind of crc or checksum, I have tried using this http://miscel.dk/MiscEl/miscelCRCandChecksum.html with no luck.   • Dynamic Overlays slowing down Google Maps (Android 2.1) on Nexus One

    Hi, I'm trying to create a dynamic ItemizedOverylay (please see the code below) on Google Maps (Android 2.1) on a Nexus One. In my Activity (that extends MapActivity) I'm creating a data thread that is receiving data from the network. A 'handler' is used to communicate the data from the receiving thread to map activity. This data contains the locations (lat, lon) of the markers that I want to overlay on my map. The location of each marker is dynamic (i.e., it changes every time I receive new data from the network.) refreshItems(ArrayList<OverlayItem> newItems) method in invoked inside the handleMessage() of the handler. There are around 11 markers in the ArrayList that is passed to refreshItems I can see the markers overlayed on the map. However, I've two issues: The old markers are not removed from the map. After a while I see a trail of markers. The map doesn't respond to any touch commands. I cannot move the map or zoom in or zoom out. After a while I see a system warning that my app is not responding message. Any idea what's wrong here ?     My new phone does not recognize a phone number unless it's area code matches the incoming call. Since I live in Idaho where an area code is not needed for in-state calls, many of my contacts were saved without an area code. Since I have thousands of contacts stored in my phone, it would not be practical to manually update them. I decided to write the following PHP script to handle the problem.     I have this code example, but I don't understand why changing the values in the array inside outputUsingArray() are changing the original array. I would have expected changing the values of the array in outputUsingArray() would only be for a local copy of the array. Why isn't that so?   • trouble resolving location in <xs:import > element in C#

    I'm using an XML schema document to validate incoming data documents, however the schema appears be failing during compilation at run time because it refers to a complex type which part of an external schema. The external schema is specified in a element at the top of the document. I had thought it might be an access problem, so I moved a copy of the external document to a localhost folder. I get the same error, so now I'm wondering if there might be some sort of issue with the use of the element. I wondered if the # signs in the namespace definitions were causing a problem, but removing them had no effect, it just changed what the error looked like (i.e. "Type 'http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig:KeyInfoType' is not declared." versus "Type 'http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig#:KeyInfoType' is not declared.")   • performance problem looping through table rows

  • active_scaffold routing error

    If you haven't seen my question yesterday, this is my second rails app. The first went nice and smooth, but this one keeps giving me one random error after another. I installed active_scaffold for this app as well as the last app (the first error, instead of using script/install plugin git://active_scaffold repository, I did script/install plugin http://active_scaffold repository.) I didn't want to spell out basic CRUD on minor models. After the install problems, (before I found the http solution from a windows user when I'm on Linux) I thought I'd try out Hobo. Well, Hobo updated actionmailer, actionpack, activerecord, activeresource, and installed rack. Rails isn't even using the updated versions. But as you can see at the bottom of the trace it's using rack. I have a feeling it has something to do with my futzing around with installing Hobo which I uninstalled. Thanks in advanced. [Edit] I had asked the question over at the ActiveScaffold Group the answer (if you don't want to follow the link) was that this line needed to be added to routes: map.resources :modelName, :active_scaffold => true It doesn't entirely answer my question, since the documentation said nothing about changing routes. But, it works.
