    This is just out of curiosity to understand i have a small shell script for ((i = 0; i < 50; i++)) do java -version & done when i run this my CPU usage report by sar is as below 07:51:25 PM CPU %user %nice %system %iowait %steal %idle 07:51:30 PM all 6.98 0.00 1.75 1.00 0.00 90.27 07:51:31 PM all 43.00 0.00 12.00 0.00 0.00 45.00 07:51:32 PM all 86.28 0.00 13.72 0.00 0.00 0.00 07:51:33 PM all 5.25 0.00 1.75 0.50 0.00 92.50 As you can see, on the third line the CPU is at 100% My java version is 1.5.0_22-b03.

  • WinForms app config manager is x86 and cannot reference assemblies that targets Any CPU

    Hi I'm using Win7 64x and Visual Studio 2010. I created a library/framework targeting Any CPU. Then I created a new WinForms project that uses that framework, leaving the default values of the wizard. I mean, I didn't change anything. When I reference my framework, VS cannot find the assemblies. If I go to the project properties, it is targeting Any CPU (as expected, I can change it if I want). But if I go to Configuration Manager, the only choice I have for that project is x86. And I guess that is the problem. I tried to add Any CPU as a new Target but I was unable to. Could someone help me? :) Thanks in advance!

  • ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor executing a wrong time because of CPU time discrepancy

    I'm scheduling a task using a ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor object. I use the following method: public ScheduledFuture<?> schedule(Runnable command, long delay,TimeUnit unit) and set the delay to 30 seconds (delay = 30,000 and unit=TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS). Sometimes my task occurs immediately and other times it takes 70 seconds. I believe the ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor uses CPU specific clocks. When i run tests comparing System.currentTimeMillis(), System.nanoTime() [which is CPU specific] i see the following schedule: 1272637682651ms, 7858346157228410ns execute: 1272637682667ms, 7858386270968425ns difference is 16ms but 4011374001ns (or 40,113ms) so it looks like there is discrepancy between two CPU clocks of 40 seconds How do i resolve this issue in java code? Unfortunately this is a clients machine and i can't modify their system.

    I am working on unix. I want to knwo the current cpu usage of a process. I understood that ps give the average of cpu used till the process is up - it is not the current usage. Is there a way to print only the cpu from the top command without 10 more parameters and headers? I know how to do it with awk - this is not the way i want to do it. top -p 20705 -bc -n 1 | tail -n 2 | awk '{ print $9}' | head -n 1 If there is another simple way to do it, not reading /proc/stat... If there is a simple way doing it from c++, it is also ok.

  • wlcomm.exe using maximum cpu sporadically

    Every now and then wlcomm.exe will start using all the available CPU. It will keep using it until I kill the process. Google couldn't tell me much about why this is happening. wlcomm.exe is the 'windows live communication platform'. I have to use live messenger at work. How can I stop this happening?

  • High CPU from httpd process

    I am currently getting high CPU on a server that is just running a couple of sites with very low traffic. One of the sites is in still development going live soon. However, this site is very very slow...When browsing through its pages I can see that the CPU goes from 30% to 100% for httpd (see top output below). I have tuned httpd & MySQL, Apache Solr, Tomcat for high performance, and I am using APC. Not sure what to do from here or how to find the culprit as I have a bunch of messages on the httpd log and have been chasing dead ends for some time...any help is greatly appreciated.     I see that in iis 7.5 I can set a CPU % utilization limit for a specified amount of time for an application pool. I can have also have it kill the worker process if this limit is violated. If tell it to do this, will the worker process automatically restart after it is killed, or is manual intervention required? Over at Stack Overflow there is the mention that it can restarted at the completion of the interval...

    I'm trying to fix a few low end single core desktops running Vista. In normal use they're fast enough not to be a problem. The issue is that because these machines are only on when being used, primarily for school work, windowsupdate begins installing patches it launches TrustedInstaller which in turn hogs 100% of the CPU and renders the machines all but unusable for however long it takes to patch them.

    Will cooler that is designed to LGA775 CPUs install on LGA1156 CPU or are they mechanically incompatible? I'm building my first 1U server and surprise-surprise - Intel stock cooler doesn't fit (unless I'm willing to keep the case open). Places that I prefer to buy stuff from are currently out of stock on 1U 1156 heatsinks so I'm wondering if LGA775 would do the trick.

    I'm having a problem where the Finder uses WAY too much CPU time. It's using up to 100% of one of my cores. I'm running 10.6.2 on a MacBook Pro w/ 6GB of RAM, plenty of fast (SSD) disk space. I also run DropBox and BackBlaze. I've tried disabling my third party stuff (DropBox and BackBlaze), but that doesn't seem to help. It's killing my battery life!

I tried HWMonitor and it works great except it doesn't have live logging.     There is a process, wmpnetwk.exe, which sometimes goes crazy and starts eating like 60-70% CPU. If I kill the process it just comes back again, so the only solution I've found is to stop the WMPNetworkSvc service, which makes the whole thing stop. I don't use WMP, so I don't care if this is disabled, but I'd like to know what's causing it (Google has revealed that it also happened to other people), and if there's a more permanent way of fixing the problem.

    Running FC release 12. Im alaways seeing ksoftirqd/x (x being 0-9) at the top of the processlist, with 100% cpu. The server has a bonded 2gbit connection, serving files from an SSD array. Currently its using 1.6gbit. Server load is ~ 1.5 (dual quad core). iowait is non-existent.
