  • Cisco ASA: Allowing and Denying VPN Access based on membership to an AD group

    - by milkandtang
I have a Cisco ASA 5505 connecting to an Active Directory server for VPN authentication. Usually we'd restrict this to a particular OU, but in this case users which need access are spread across multiple OUs. So, I'd like to use a group to specify which users have remote access. I've created the group and added the users, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to deny users which aren't in that group. Right now, if someone connects they get assigned the correct group policy "companynamera" if they are in that group, so the LDAP mapping is working. However, users who are not in that group still authenticate fine, and their group policy becomes the LDAP path of their first group, i.e. CN=Domain Users,CN=Users,DC=example,DC=com, and then are still allowed access. How do I add a filter so that I can map everything that isn't "companynamera" to no access? Config I'm using (with some stuff such as ACLs and mappings removed, since they are just noise here): gateway# show run : Saved : ASA Version 8.2(1) ! hostname gateway domain-name corp.company-name.com enable password gDZcqZ.aUC9ML0jK encrypted passwd gDZcqZ.aUC9ML0jK encrypted names name 192.168.0.2 dc5 description FTP Server name 192.168.0.5 dc2 description Everything server name 192.168.0.6 dc4 description File Server name 192.168.0.7 ts1 description Light Use Terminal Server name 192.168.0.8 ts2 description Heavy Use Terminal Server name 4.4.4.82 primary-frontier name 5.5.5.26 primary-eschelon name 172.21.18.5 dmz1 description Kerio Mail Server and FTP Server name 4.4.4.84 ts-frontier name 4.4.4.85 vpn-frontier name 5.5.5.28 ts-eschelon name 5.5.5.29 vpn-eschelon name 5.5.5.27 email-eschelon name 4.4.4.83 guest-frontier name 4.4.4.86 email-frontier dns-guard ! • ING: Scaling Role Management and Access Certification to Thousands of Applications

    - by Tanu Sood
Organizations deal with employee and user access certifications in different ways.  There’s collation of multiple spreadsheets, an intense two-week exercise by managers or use of access certification tools to do so across a handful of applications. But for most organizations compliance is about certifying user access for thousands of employees across hundreds of systems. Managing and auditing millions of entitlement combinations on a periodic basis poses a huge scale challenge. ING solved the compliance scale challenge using an Identity Platform approach. Join the live webcast featuring ING’s enterprise architect, Mark Robison, as he discusses how a platform approach offers value that is greater than the sum of its parts and enables ING to successfully meet their security and compliance goals. Mark will also share his implementation experiences and discuss the key requirements to manage the complexity and scale of access certification efforts at ING. Mark will be joined by Neil Gandhi, Principal Product Manager for Oracle Identity Analytics. • Dell Media Direct is rebooting my machine when it goes into sleep mode

    - by wsanville
I've got a Dell studio 1535 laptop, which shipped w/ Vista 32 bit. I've since formatted and installed Win 7 64. Everything has been fine for months, but recently, every time I leave my machine unattended and it goes to sleep, it wakes with the Dell Media Direct splash screen, and then goes to the "Windows was not shut down properly..." dialog that asks if you want to boot safe mode/start Windows normally/etc. The stupid button is also stuck on currently, but even when it is off, the problem still occurs. From the searching I've done, I've learned that the program is installed on its own partition, but I'm fairly certain I formatted everything (see screenie of my partitions: http://www.engr.uconn.edu/~wsj05001/misc/partitions.png). How can I stop the madness?

  • I don't have permission to access other drives

    - by mcjohnalds45
After messing with the user accounts & names, I found I can't access my external drives without using sudo. So when I access one normally with cd "/media/john/FreeAgent Drive" I receive bash: cd: /media/john/FreeAgent Drive: Permission denied However, using sudo: sudo cd /media/john sudo ls -l It gives: drwx------ 1 john john 20480 Sep 24 10:45 FreeAgent Drive/ And id returns uid=1003(john) gid=1003(john) groups=1003(john), ... So I'm interpreting this is as "you are john, only john can access this drive, however, you cannot access this drive." I have tried sudo chown john:john "FreeAgent Drive" and sudo chmod o+rw "john/FreeAgent Drive"but I still can't access it.

  • How to create direct RS232 (PPP) connection from Windows 7

    - by Jonny Wright
I'm trying to create a direct connection to a hardware device via RS232 serial connection. Am using a USB to Serial adapter and works fine in WinXP but the option seems to have disappeared in Win7. This is the only connection option available for this piece of hardware so I have no choice. Currently have a netbook with WinXP installed purely for interfacing with this hardware. In XP it was just a matter of creating an "Advanced connection" and then "Directly to another computer" etc, I can find no such options in Win7.

  • Establish direct cable connection between Windows 8 PCs in home network

    - by Marie. P.
I'm running two PCs, a desktop and a laptop with Windows 8 Release Preview ("Build 8400"). They are connected to the same router in infrastructure mode, thereby having wireless internet. Due to often file synchronization between the machines I want to establish a cable connection that allows direct file transfer, without needing to use the wireless. When I plug in the cable (normal, not cross-over), I see in "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections": "Ethernet - unidentified Network" on both PCs. Transferring a file between both still only uses the WiFi via the Router. I noticed that when turning off the wifi on one PC, I can set up a shared internet connection that will work via Ethernet-cable, but since sometimes only one PC runs, sometimes the other one, I do not want to have the internet of one machine to be dependent on the other one being switched on. I do not have a crossover-cable, but since I did connect the PCs already successfully (just without both being on the internet), I'm sure that this should also work with a normal ethernet cable.

  • Does MS Access 2010 have Tif image control display issue?

    - by ChuckB
We run MS Access as the front end for most of our business. When we upgraded from Access 2000 to Access 2003 the image control we used to print out Tif images failed to load Tifs anymore. A bit of Googling showed that MS did this intentionally and I'm wondering if the problem still happens in Access 2010. Can someone with a downloaded copy drop an image control on an Access 2010 form or report and try to get it to display a Tif file?

  • Does Guest WiFi on an Access Point make any sense?

    - by uos??
I have a Belkin WiFi Router which offers a feature of a secondary Guest Access WiFi network. Of course, the idea is that the Guest network doesn't have access to the computers/devices on the main network. I also have a Comcast-issues Cable Modem/Router device with mutliple wired ports, but no WiFi-capabilities. I prefer to only run one router/DHCP/NAT instead of both the Comcast Router and the Belkin Router, so I can disable the Routing functions of the Belkin and allow the Comcast Router to But if I disable the Routing functions of the Belkin device, the Guest WiFi network is still available. Is this configuration just as secure as when the Belkin acts as a Router? I guess the question comes down to this: Do Guest WiFi's provide security by 1) only allowing requests to IPs found in-front of the device, or do they work by 2) disallowing requests to IPs on the same subnet? 1) Would mean that Guest WiFi on an access point provides no benefit 2) Would mean that the Guest WiFi functionality can work even if the device is just an access point. Or maybe something else entirely?

  • cascading combo box causing empty fields in next record

    - by glinch
Hi there, I'm having problems with a cascading combo box. Everything works fine with the combo boxes and the values get populated correctly. Private Sub cmbAdjComp_AfterUpdate() Me.cboAdjOff.RowSource = "SELECT AdjusterCompanyOffice.ID, AdjusterCompanyOffice.Address1, AdjusterCompanyOffice.Address2, AdjusterCompanyOffice.Address3, AdjusterCompanyOffice.Address4, AdjusterCompanyOffice.Address5 FROM" & _ " AdjusterCompanyOffice WHERE AdjusterCompanyOffice.AdjCompID = " & Me.cmbAdjComp.Column(1) & _ " ORDER BY AdjusterCompanyOffice.Address1" Me.cboAdjOff = Me.cboAdjOff.ItemData(0) End Sub The secondary combo box has a row source query: SELECT AdjusterCompanyOffice.ID, AdjusterCompanyOffice.Address1, AdjusterCompanyOffice.Address2, AdjusterCompanyOffice.Address3, AdjusterCompanyOffice.Address4, AdjusterCompanyOffice.Address5 FROM AdjusterCompanyOffice ORDER BY AdjusterCompanyOffice.Address1; Both comboboxes have the same controlsource. Everything works fine and dandy moving between records and the boxes show the correct fields for each record. When i use the first combo box, and then select the appropriate option in the second combo box, everything works great on the specific record. However when I move to the next record, the values in the second combo box are all empty. If i close the form and reopen it, and avoid using the cascading combo boxes all the values are all correct when i move between records. Somehow using the cascading combo boxes creates a conflict with the row source of the secondary combo box. Hope that is clear! Have been rummaging around for an answer but cant find anything. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Noel

  • Combo-box values automatically update

    - by glinch
Hi all, hopefully somebody can help The table structure is as follows: tblCompany: compID compName tblOffice: offID, compID, add1, add2, add3 etc... tblEmployee: empID Name, telNo, etc... offID I have a form that contains contact details for employees, all works ok using after update. A cascading combo box, cmbComp, allows me to select a company, and inturn select the appropriate office, cboOff, and updates the corresponding tblEmployee.offID field correctly. Fields are automatically updated for the address also cmbComp: RowSource SELECT DISTINCT tblOffice.compID, tblCompany.compID FROM tblCompany INNER JOIN AdjusterCompanyOffice ON tblCompany.compID=tblOffice.compID ORDER BY tblCompany.compName; cboOff: RowSource SELECT tblCompany.offID, tblCompany.Address1, tblCompany.Address2, tblCompany.Address3, tblCompany.Address4, tblCompany.Address5 FROM tblCompany ORDER BY tblCompany.Address1; The problem I am having is that when i load a new record how to retrieve the data and automatically load the cmbComp and text fields. The cboOff combo box loads correctly as the control source for this is the offID I imagine there must be a way of setting the value on opening the record? Not sure how though. I dont think I can set the controlsource cmbComp or text fields, or can I? Any help/point in the right direction appreciated, have been searching for a way to do this but cant get anywhere!

  • isPostBack as Query Parameter

    - by Steven
I created an ASPX page with search controls to the left bound as controls for an AccessDataSource. I want the data grid to be blank on the first calling of the page, but show the results for subsequent page loads. I plan to achieve this by putting [pFirstRun] = False as my first WHERE condition with the parameter pFirstRun tied to the value isPostBack. How do I achieve this? Alternatively, is there a better way to achieve this goal?

I use the DAO method Execute to delete some records. If this fails this is clear by checking RecordsAffected (it will be 0). But is it possible to get the error message (for instance, to log or to show to the user)? I've try to delete the records by hand in the Table grid I get a clear dialog message, e.g. "The record cannot be deleted or changed because tabel x includes related records".

  • A good(elegant) way to retrieve records with counts.

    - by user93422
Context: ASP.NET MVC 2.0, C#, SQL Server 2007, IIS7 I have 'scheduledMeetings' table in the database. There is a one-to-many relationship: scheduledMeeting - meetingRegistration So that you could have 10 people registered for a meeting. meetingRegistration has fields Name, and Gender (for example). I have a "calendar view" on my site that shows all coming events, as well as gender count for each event. At the moment I use Linq to Sql to pull the data: var meetings = db.Meetings.Select( m => new { MeetingId = m.Id, Girls = m.Registrations.Count(r => r.Gender == 0), Boys = m.Registrations.Count(r=>r.Gender == 1) }); (actual query is half-a-page long) Because there is anonymous type use going on I cant extract it into a method (since I have several different flavors of calendar view, with different information on each, and I dont want to create new class for each). Any suggestions on how to improve this? Is database view is the answer? Or should I go ahead and create named-type? Any feedback/suggestions are welcome. My DataLayer is huge, I want to trim it, just dont know how. Pointers to a good reading would be good too.

  • Docmd.TransferText question

    - by every_answer_gets_a_point
b'h i will be programmatically importing a text file into a table. i have saved the import steps. i will use this: DoCmd.TransferText(TransferType, SpecificationName, TableName, FileName, HasFieldNames, HTMLTableName, CodePage) to do the import. this is what SpecificationName means: Specification Name The specification name for the set of options that determines how a text file is imported, exported, or linked. For a fixed-width text file, you must either specify a specification name or use a schema.ini file, which should be stored in the same directory as the imported, linked, or exported text file. i do need a specific specification; however i do not know how to specify one. when i manually imported a table, i did save the specifications for my import, however i do not know how to call this in the TransferText. does anyone know how to specify SpecificationName ?

  • assigning a rank based on total sales

    - by Nathaniel_613
    I need to create a field called “rank”, that ranks each part ID based on total sales, by assigning a sequential number based on total sales, where the higher the total sales, then the lower the rank value. For example, the part ID with the most sales would have a rank value of “1” and the part ID with the next highest sales would have a rank value of “2” and the part ID with the lowest sales would rank with the highest number. If 2 different parts ID’s have the same total sales, then it is OK if they share the same rank. Please provide me the SQL to copy and paste Thank you very much in advance, Nathaniel SELECT qry_rank_01.[total sales amount], qry_rank_01.PART_ID FROM qry_rank_01;

  • DirectAccess Server firewall rules blocking ports

    - by StormPooper
I have configured DirectAccess on my Server 2012 Essentials box and most of it works great - I can remotely access the server via RDP and the default IIS website on port 80. However, I can't access anything that uses other ports. For this example, the Team Foundation Server website. The only way to access it is by accessing http://localhost:8080/tfs on the server directly - even when using http://servername:8080/tfs or http://192.168.1.100:8080/tfs won't work. I've tried adding the ports to the NAT exceptions using Set-NetNatTransitionConfiguration –IPv4AddressPortPool and while that has allowed some ports used internally (Deluge, for example) it hasn't allowed me access to the URL. I think I've narrowed it down to the "DirectAccess Server Settings" Group Policy that is created when configuring DirectAccess. When I disable the link for this GPO, the TFS site works again, but the default IIS site stops working (but RDP still works). I already have rules in the firewall on the server for TFS and before enabling this Group Policy (so before configuring DirectAccess) I could access both sites. Does anybody have any suggestions for things I can change to allow access to both? I've uploaded the full GPO report and my Remote Access Configuration Summary for more details.

  • Multiple vlans access to shared pbx system

    - by Matt
I'm new to networking and was looking for some assistance. First off I'm using packet tracer to diagram my scenario as I will be receiving my equipment next week to deploy. Hardware to be used: 2 catalyst 3560 switches all connect to a sonic wall router I have two companies that work in the same office space. I need to keep these companies separate on their own vlan. They will however need to share the phone system. (Packet tracer file uploaded to give those who have the time to see what I put together.) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/86234623/network%20build.pkt Here is my current test scenario: on switch 0 I have: company A on vlan 2 computers 172.16.1.100 and 101 255.255.0.0 FA0/10 FA0/11 company B on vlan 3 computers 172.16.2.102, 255.255.0.0 FA0/12 PBX on a trunk port 172.16.0.5, 255.255.0.0 FA0/5 trunk port on FA0/1 to connect the switches on switch 1 I have: company A on vlan 2 computers 172.16.1.102, 255.255.0.0 company B on vlan 3 computers 172.16.2.100 and 101, 255.255.0.0 trunk port on FA0/1 to connect the switches I can ping the respective computers on the same vlan but cant ping company A to B which is what I want. However neither company can talk (ping) the PBX. Here are the commands I used to configure what I have: switch 0 en conf t vlan 2 name A vlan 3 name B int fa0/10 switchport mode access switchport access vlan 2 int fa0/11 switchport mode access switchport access vlan 2 int fa0/12 switchport mode access switchport access vlan 3 int fa0/5 switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q switchport mode trunk switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-3 int fa0/1 (to connect the switches) switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q switchport mode trunk switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-3 Switch 1 en conf t vlan 2 name A vlan 3 name B int fa0/10 switchport mode access switchport access vlan 3 int fa0/11 switchport mode access switchport access vlan 3 int fa0/12 switchport mode access switchport access vlan 2 int fa0/1 (to connect the switches) switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q switchport mode trunk switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-3

  • Cannot Resolve Host Or Access Website Through Router

    - by Boris_yo
This is weird. I am on Windows XP with Edimax BR 6204Wg. I have 3 devices - 2 laptops and 1 smartphone. 1st laptop and smartphone are connected through WiFi to router and 2nd laptop is connected through LAN to router. Before firmware upgrade i did not try to access website but after firmware upgrade to latest version: http://www.edimax.eu/en/support_detail.php?pd_id=11&pl1_id=3#02 i had problems resolving host, pinging, tracerting and accessing website. Sometimes ping and tracert work but i cannot access website and sometimes i can access website but ping and tracert do not work. Weird? I downgraded to previous version and no changes. If i can no longer access that website through Internet Explorer, i can access it in Firefox. I tried deleting cookies, clearing cache and that seem not make difference. Switching LAN port did not make difference. When i disconnect router and connect laptop through LAN to internet modem, everything is normal. I tried resetting router, resetting to factory default settings and all did not help. At the moment i can access website on laptop connected through LAN from Firefox and Internet Explorer, but on my smartphone i can access website only with Opera but not with built-in browser and Skyfire. UPDATE: I just could only access with Internet Explorer but not with other browsers on my PC. Minutes later i could access with all browsers. But on smartphone i could only access with Opera and not with other browsers. I am confused. I also determined that sometimes i can access and sometimes can't. What is also weird is that when ping and tracert cannot resolve host, i still am able to access website.

  • How do I fix a corrupted harddrive after failed upgrade?

    - by Nil
The problem originated when I was trying to fix this problem. Things went horribly, horribly wrong and I ended up with a new problem altogether. The last thing I did was run sudo apt-get install and that caused my system to freeze. I restarted my computer and it would not boot from the harddrive. I ran a copy of Ubuntu 12.10 from a flashdrive that I had and ran gparted to see if my partitions were all there. It returned this message: Invalid partition table on /dev/sda -- wrong signature 5208. The drive appeared as a 2TiB unallocated drive with an error. The drive had 4 partitions before (plus random unallocated space). There was a fat32 partition, an ext4 partition which contained ubuntu 13.04/13.10 (I don't even know which one at this point), an extended partition which contained a swap partition for my ubuntu partition (I was meaning to move that ubuntu partition into the extended partition, never got around to it), and another partition (I don't remember how I formatted it). I should also mention this is a 1TB harddrive. So in short, I have a corrupted partition table on my primary harddrive from which I boot from, how can I fix this? I tried mounting the drive with sudo mount /dev/sda1 /media/ubuntu then I changed my directory to said folder and tried to list files and this monstrosity happened: $ ls ls: cannot access ??w?j^?.: Input/output error ls: cannot access ??(? ?x?.|: Input/output error ls: cannot access 6W_@?)?._??: Input/output error ls: cannot access HB0v???.A}?: Input/output error ls: cannot access ???.?X: Input/output error ls: cannot access t)?.+?l: Input/output error ls: cannot access ?h@ ?.@ : Input/output error ls: cannot access >? @??.???: Input/output error ls: cannot access m???.??: Input/output error ls: cannot access @ if??a?: Input/output error ls: cannot access ?M!vN$?.??n: Input/output error ls: cannot access ?o? ??.Bm`: Input/output error ls: cannot access ?:I???
