  • Does IBM use Dojo Toolkit?

    - by Timothy
I was told IBM no-longer uses Dojo. Is this true? A small amount of web searching shows IBM is/was a member of the Dojo Foundation and is/was a code contributor... If it is true, approximately when did IBM stop using Dojo? If its not, to what extend is IBM still actively using and promoting the toolkit (use in their public web sites, product integration/bundling, etc)?

  • Dictionary object syntax?

    - by posfan12
I'm having trouble figuring out the syntax for a JScript .NET dictionary object. I have tried private var myDictionary: Dictionary<string><string>; but the compiler complains that it's missing a semicolon and that the Dictionary object is not declared. I know JScript does have a native dictionary-like object format, but I'm not sure if there are disadvantages to using it instead of the .NET-specific construct. I.e., what if someone wants to extend my script using another .NET language?

  • how to define a structural type that refers to itself?

    - by IttayD
I want to create a method sum that I can call on different types, specifically sum(1,2). def sum[A](a1: A, a2: A) = a1 + a2 This fails because the compiler can't tell if A has a method '+' I tried to define a structural type: type Addable = {def +(a: Addable)} This fails because of an illegal cyclic reference How can I achieve this in a type safe way without requiring A to extend a specific trait?

Thanks in advance.

  • Problem using a method in Ruby

    - by Rafal
I'm very new to Ruby (and OOP as well) and I don't know why the following thing doesn't work in Ruby I extended the String class with a new method. Easy enough. Now I want to extend the Fixnum class. A String object appears somewhere in the class, but I can't use the method that I defined earlier. Why? Is this normal?

  • Using Action Filters for user login in Asp.NET MVC?

    - by ripper234
I recently built a site using Asp.Net. The way I chose to implement user login is through a base 'UserAwareController' class, that all controllers extend. It contained a reference to the UserRepository, and exposed a protected GetCurrentUser() method that concrete controllers could query. The whole process felt a bit wishy-washy to me. Is Action Filters a good alternative? What are its benefits? Is there something else I might be missing?

  • Rails engines extending functionality

    - by sinsiliux
So I have an engine which defines some models and controllers. I want to be able to extend functionality of some models/controllers in my application (eg. adding methods) without loosing the original model/controller functionality from engine. Everywhere I read that you simply need to define controller with the same name in your application and Rails will automatically merge them, however it doesn't work for me and controller in engine is simply ignored (I don't think it's even loaded).

  • Why is this <p> expanding the whole page?

    - by George Edison
If you visit this page and shrink your browser window, you will see my problem. [If you want to open the page in a new window, just hold down shift when you click the link.] The answers to the question extend beyond the page margin instead of wrapping. I have spent the last half hour working with Chrome's Inspector and Firefox's DOM inspector - all to no avail. I just cannot figure out why it's doing this.

  • Stateful Iterators Java

    - by Gitmo
What is a Stateful Iterator? This question relates to an Iterator defined in Hadoop for performing Joins. As the reference documentation states: This defines an interface to a stateful Iterator that can replay elements added to it directly. Note that this does not extend Iterator. What does 'replay elements added to it directly' mean? How is this iterator different from a usual iterator?

  • polymorphism and interfaces

    - by mixm
if i have two classes x and y, both extend class w. and x implementing interface z. if i have methods doSomething(w object) and doSomething(x object), what would happen if i call doSomething(x)? edit: im implementing this on java, more specifically on android. im asking this because some classes which implement a specific interface mostly does the same thing when doSomething() is called. but there are special cases which i would like to single out.

  • Polymorphic :has_many, :through as module in Rails 3.1 plugin

    - by JohnMetta
I've search everywhere for a pointer to this, but can't find one. Basically, I want to do what everyone else wants to do when they create a polymorphic relationship in a :has_many, :through way… but I want to do it in a module. I keep getting stuck and think I must be overlooking something simple. To wit: module ActsPermissive module PermissiveUser def self.included(base) base.extend ClassMethods end module ClassMethods def acts_permissive has_many :ownables has_many :owned_circles, :through => :ownables end end end class PermissiveCircle < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :ownable, :polymorphic => true end end With a migration that looks like this: create_table :permissive_circles do |t| t.string :ownable_type t.integer :ownable_id t.timestamps end The idea, of course, is that whatever loads acts_permissive will be able to have a list of circles that it owns. For simple tests, I have it "should have a list of circles" do user = Factory :user user.owned_circles.should be_an_instance_of Array end which fails with: Failure/Error: @user.circles.should be_an_instance_of Array NameError: uninitialized constant User::Ownable I've tried: using :class_name => 'ActsPermissive::PermissiveCircle' on the has_many :ownables line, which fails with: Failure/Error: @user.circles.should be_an_instance_of Array ActiveRecord::HasManyThroughSourceAssociationNotFoundError: Could not find the source association(s) :owned_circle or :owned_circles in model ActsPermissive::PermissiveCircle. Try 'has_many :owned_circles, :through => :ownables, :source => <name>'. Is it one of :ownable? while following the suggestion and setting :source => :ownable fails with Failure/Error: @user.circles.should be_an_instance_of Array ActiveRecord::HasManyThroughAssociationPolymorphicSourceError: Cannot have a has_many :through association 'User#owned_circles' on the polymorphic object 'Ownable#ownable' Which seems to suggest that doing things with a non-polymorphic-through is necessary. So I added a circle_owner class similar to the setup here: module ActsPermissive class CircleOwner < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :permissive_circle belongs_to :ownable, :polymorphic => true end module PermissiveUser def self.included(base) base.extend ClassMethods end module ClassMethods def acts_permissive has_many :circle_owners, :as => :ownable has_many :circles, :through => :circle_owners, :source => :ownable, :class_name => 'ActsPermissive::PermissiveCircle' end end class PermissiveCircle < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :circle_owners end end With a migration: create_table :permissive_circles do |t| t.string :name t.string :guid t.timestamps end create_table :circle_owner do |t| t.string :ownable_type t.string :ownable_id t.integer :permissive_circle_id end which still fails with: Failure/Error: @user.circles.should be_an_instance_of Array NameError: uninitialized constant User::CircleOwner Which brings us back to the beginning. How can I do what seems to be a rather common polymorphic :has_many, :through on a module? Alternatively, is there a good way to allow an object to be collected by arbitrary objects in a similar way that will work with a module?

  • Are there any StatusNet toolkits for .NET?

    - by Broam
There are plenty of projects out there that assist developers in posting things to Twitter; the one I can think of off the top of my head is Twitterizer. Are there any projects for posting to StatusNet? Given that StatusNet implements an API very similar to Twitter, I could probably modify/extend Twitterizer to do just that. However, I'd like to avoid reinventing the wheel if at all possible if something exists already.

  • Java method get the inheriting type

    - by DrDro
I have several classes that extend C and I would need a method that accepts any argument of type C. But in this method I would like to know if I'm dealing with A or B. * public A extends C public B extends C public void goForIt(C c)() If I cast how can I retrieve the type in a clean way (I just read using getClass or instanceof is often not the best way). PS: Fell free to edit an explicit title. *Sorry but I can't type closing braces

  • how to use store define in store folder

    - by Kevin Morfin
I'm new to sencha-touch. I was wondering how to properly use the file structure in sencha-touch. For example, under the app folder there's your controller, model, profile, store, view folders. If I define a store, for example under the the store folder I create a file named search.js Ext.define('Volunteer.store.search'{ extend: 'Ext.data.Store', requires: ['Volunteer.model.person'], config:{ model: 'Volunteer.model.person' } }); How do I use this store in a different file?

  • Rails 3 Abstract Class vs Inherited Class

    - by R. Yanchuleff
In my rails 3 model, I have two classes: Product, Service. I want both to be of type InventoryItem because I have another model called Store and Store has_many :InventoryItems This is what I'm trying to get to, but I'm not sure how to model this in my InventoryItem model and my Product and Service models. Should InventoryItem just be a parent class that Product and Service inherit from, or should InventoryItem be modeled as a class abstract of which Product and Service extend from. Thanks in advance for the advice!
