  • Should I have a separate copy of all CakePHP files for every new application?

    I'm extremely new to CakePHP. From what I've gathered, it seems like I can have multiple applications that all share the same app and cake directories. So, let's say I have two applications. CakeFacebookApp and GenericCakeBlog. These applications are completely separate from each other and will have completely separate URLs, but they will reside on the same webhost. Should they both be within the same cake structure, or should they each have a full cake install in separate directories? Technically, I'm sure it will work either way, but I guess I'm looking for a best practice approach. Thanks.

  • Best way to globally set every control's ValidationGroup property in an asp.net?

    I have a User Control with form items that is re-used considerably throughout a large web application, and up until this point the validation summary upon an invalid form submission is being handled by the .aspx that consumes the User Control. Now I need to set the ValidationGroup property at runtime for each of my form items controls (textboxes, lists, validators, etc). Rather than do it manually by setting each control I'm interested in iterating through all the controls in the User Control, detecting if that control has a ValidationGroup property, and setting it's value that way. Something like this: For Each ctrl As System.Web.UI.Control In Me.Controls ' so now what is the proper way to detect if this control has the ValidationGroup property Next Code sample in vb.net or c# works for me.     Consider a grocery store scenario (I'm making this up) where you have FACT records that represent a sale transaction, where the columns of the Fact table include SaleItemFact Table ------------------ CustomerID ProductID Price DistributorID DateOfSale Etc Etc Etc Even if there are duplicates in the table when you consider ALL the keys, I would contend that a surrogate running numeric key (i.e. identity column) should be made up, e.g., TransactionNumber of type Integer. I can see someone arguing that a Fact table might not have a unique key (though I'd invent one and waste the 4 bytes, but how about a dimension table?

  • Is Core Animation causing my subviews to call -drawRect for every single frame?

    I made a nice UIView subclass which paints all its stuff in -drawRect:, because people said that's good. That view is a subview of another. This another view is beeing animated with Core Animation: It's scaled down, rotated and moved. However, I encountered this: -drawRect seems to get called trillion of times during animation, and performance sucks. Is that normal or did I do something wrong, probably?

    Hi, I think I have something broken with the path that VS 2008 saves the backup files. Since few days, it creates a new "Visual Studio 2008" directory in the same folder that my .sln file exists. Then, after the time of the first auto-save expires, the backup files are being saved to this folder. I browsed the tools-options dialog but I haven't found a way to set the directory to by static: C:\documents and setings\\My Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Backup Files. Can anybody point me with the right solution to this problem (probably the correct registry entry - I guess) ? thanks

    Hi. I've got a database table with at least three rows in it. From php, I have successfully connected to my db and extracted all table information with 'SELECT * from mytable' . Now I want to loop through first each row, and then each cell, printing out the contents of each cell. I know this might be a simple task for a more experienced programmer, but I can't figure it out, and I can't find any examples online and it's driving me stark raving bonkers. How can I do this ?

Looks like everything should be hooked with the wordpess to get it run and moreover are there all the global variables that i need to use. I am making a video plugin and designed some of the forms and display page, but didn't went through the templates, is it compulsory to follow the template structure or we can design our on layout.     I am using an if statement to check the value of a BOOLEAN when i click on a button. When the button is clicked if the value is false i want to display a UIActivityIndicator and if the value is true i want to push the new view. I can do this fine but i want the view to change automatically when the BOOLEAN Becomes true if the user has already clicked the button. So my question is how do you check to see if a value has changed everysecond or less?

  • Is there a way to log every gui event in Delphi?

    The Delphi debugger is great for debugging linear code, where one function calls other functions in a predictable, linear manner, and we can step through the program line by line. I find the debugger less useful when dealing with event driven gui code, where a single line of code can cause new events to be trigerred, which may in turn trigger other events. In this situation, the 'step through the code' approach doesn't let me see everything that is going on. The way I usually solve this is to 1) guess which events might be part of the problem, then 2) add breakpoints or logging to each of those events. The problem is that this approach is haphazard and time consuming. Is there a switch I can flick in the debugger to say 'log all gui events'? Or is there some code I can add to trap events, something like procedure GuiEventCalled(ev:Event) begin log(ev); ev.call(); end The end result I'm looking for is something like this (for example): FieldA.KeyDown FieldA.KeyPress FieldA.OnChange FieldA.OnExit FieldB.OnEnter This would take all the guesswork out of Delphi gui debugging.   • Fast response on first Socket I/O request but slow every other time when communicating with remote serial port

    I'm using sockets to pass Serial commands to a remote device. And the response to that request is sent back and printed out. However, I am having a problem in that the first time it is instant but the rest of the time it can take up to 20 seconds to receive a reply. How can i cast now any car object to a mycar object without assigning all attributes each by hand.     For instance, I suppose I have a directory that contains the following folders foo_bar baz What I would like to have is a bash command that will make a symlink foo-bar to foo_bar so it would look like this: foo-bar foo_bar baz I'm pretty sure I can write a Python script to do this, but I'm curious if there's a way to do this with bash. Here's where I'm stuck: ls -1 | grep _ | xargs -I {} ln -s {} `{} | sed 's/_/-/'` What I'm trying to do is run the command ln -s with the first argument being the directory name and the second argument being that name passed through sed s/_/-/. Is there another way to do this?

  • How do I get certain code to execute before every single controller action in ASP.NET MVC 2?

    I want to check some things about the state of the session, the user agent, etc, and possibly take action and return a special view BEFORE a controller method gets a chance to execute. For example: Most common: User requests Home/Index System checks to make sure x != 0. x does not equal zero, so the Home/Index controller executes like normal. But, sometimes: User requests Home/Index System checks to make sure x != 0. x DOES equal zero. The user must be notified and the requested controller action cannot be allowed to execute. I think this involves the use of ActionFilters. But I have read about them and I don't understand if I can preempt the controller method and return a view before it executes. I am sure I could execute code before the controller method runs, but how do I keep it from running in some instances and return a custom view, or direct to a different controller method?

  • How would I create a VIM or Vi command to delete all text after a certain character for every line i

    Scenario: I have a text file that has pipe (as in the "|" character) delimited data. Each field of data in the pipe delimited fields can be of variable length, so counting characters won't work (or using some sort of substring function... if that even exists in VIM). Is it possible, using VIM / Vi to delete all data from the second pipe to the end of the line for the entire file? There are approx 150,000 lines, so doing this manually would only be appealing to a masochist... e.g. Change the following lines from: 1111|random sized text 12345|more random data la la la|1111|abcde 2222|random sized text abcdefghijk|la la la la|2222|defgh 3333|random sized text|more random data|33333|ijklmnop to: 1111|random sized text 12345 2222|random sized text abcdefghijk 3333|random sized text I'm sure this can be done somehow... I hope. TIA UPDATE: I should have mentioned that I'm running this on Windows XP, so I don't have access to some of the mentioned *nix commands (CUT is not recognized on Windows).
