  • Google Apps or similar that supports shared inboxes?

    I'd really love for my small business to migrate to Google Apps, mostly for the email. However, the big roadblock for me is the lack of any sort of shared inbox support (sales@... support@...) that would let multiple salespeople or support reps handle the incoming messages to the shared inbox in a consistent, graceful manner. Any recommendations for a similar service, or any add-on services to Google Apps that allows this?

  • Android : How to open youtube links on my facebook messenger app, in the youtube app? [migrated]

    I am unable to play YouTube videos from the links I get on my Facebook Messenger app. Here's what happens: A friend of mine posts a video link to me (YouTube link) as a message on Facebook. I receive it on my Android mobile in the Facebook messenger app. I click on it and it shows a Dialogue-Box (you can call that a pop-up) which asks me to choose an app to open the video with. Now earlier, there used to be the video player apps in my mobile along with the internet browsers installed on my mobile that used to come up there. So I would select an internet browser, and it in turn would re-direct me to the "YouTube" app itself. However, now, I am only getting video-players in that Dialogue Box as an option to open the YouTube video, but of course, if I select them, they are not able to stream the video. Has anyone found a way around this problem? It is really bothersome.

  • Is it preferable to use POP or IMAP to check multiple google mail accounts from one?

    I have email accounts on several domains that use Google Mail, and thus far I've only ever used POP to send and receive mail from a single inbox. This is quite functional, and as long as I remember to select the appropriate FROM address when starting a new thread, mostly works without any additional thought: messages received on account A are replied to via account A, and so on. My only complaint is the lag -- I've seen sometimes as much as a half hour between messages arriving in an inbox before being imported into my primary inbox via POP. My question is this: Google also supports IMAP. Would that be in any way preferable over POP access? Reduced lag would be nice, but not at a general speed cost, if everything I do has to check another mailbox too.

  • Google Apps Premier - Viewing shared calendars in outlook

    We currently migrated from exchange to Google Apps Email and have been having issues when it comes to viewing shared calendars from within Outlook. Users are able to view other calendars from within the Google calendar tool but they cannot see these calendars in Outlook. It appears that users with the "Manage Changes" permission are able to view other calendars but they are also able to see any private appointments that a user has created as well. Is anyone aware of any 3rd party tools or workarounds that allow users to view shared calendars within Outlook without having to use the Google calendar tool?

    I just experienced an unusual crash: I tried to click on a name entry in the contact list of Empathy. A crash happened. Usually I am asked then if I'd like to report the error to Launchpad, and Launchpad opens. This time the error message was: "Excuse me. Ubuntu 12.04 noticed an internal error. If you notice further problems try to restart your computer. Send an error report to Launchpad to help removing this problem?" This time Launchpad did not open automatically. A new window opened and I could read the relevant error report. Later I found the error report in the file /var/crash/_usr_lib_empathy_empathy-chat.1000.crash. Why went the course of action this time differently from other crashes? Why is the file /var/crash/_usr_lib_empathy_empathy-chat.1000.upload empty?

  • How can I increase the text size in empathy chat windows?

    The text that appears in empathy chat windows is quite small, even though I have set the font DPI to a large value in Preferences Appearance. There does not appear to be any option to make this larger so that I can read what other people are sending me easily. I've been using pidgin in the meantime because it is a little better in this respect. I would be grateful for any tips on how to increase the text size in empathy chat windows, even if this involves clever .gtkrc-2.0 hacks. Thanks!

    For a project that is billed by hours, should a freelancer charge the client for the amount of time he/she spends on email/chat correspondence? For example, the client sends an email to the the freelancer, outlining the requirements. Should the freelancer charge the client for the time during which he/she reads the email and writes a reply. The same goes for chat conversations for clarifying the requirements. In particular, if the freelancer's English is not very good, so that he/she spends extra time on understanding what the client wants and explaining him/herself (e.g. copying and pasting into Google Translate), should such time be charged to the client too?

What encoding should I use?

Javamail retrieves list of messages (only ids) in a particular folder from server very fast, but when I actually fetch message (only envelop not even contents) it takes around 1 to 2 seconds for each message. What are the techniques should be used for fast retrieval?

    Hi I try to realize simple code on perl which should just get/send messages from/to gtalk accounts. I use Net::XMPP::* modules. All works just fine for users, who are my friends (in my "buddy" list). But i can't send message to unknown user. I know, that for this case i must send an invitation first, but Net::XMPP::* don't provide this possibility. There is only one way to invite person - construct my own xml according to "XEP-0155 Stanza Session Negotiation" protocol. But this doesn't work correct. When i send xml to server, it returns error "service-unavailable". Thanks @mattlant This is a dedicated server that's why I'm installing the SMTP manually. EDIT: I use exchange so its a little different, but its called a smart host in exchange, but in plain SMTP service config i think its called something else. Cant remember exactly the setting name. Thank you for pointing me at the Smart host field. Mail is getting delivered now. In the Default SMTP Virtual Server properties, the Delivery tab, click Advanced and fill the "Smart host" field with the address that your provider gives you.     Hi Guys, I need suggestions with regards to the multiple file upload using File Upload control in asp.net(along with C#). I have a File Upload Control, so i click the 'Browse' button and when i select a file from the select file dialog, i want the file to be shown as a link below the File Upload Control( somewhat similar to gmail). This file should be seen such a way that it can be deleted, if i wanted to. And also i should be able to upload another file from the File Upload control. All these files should be uploaded to a location when i use a button click event in the end. I think i have made myself clear. Any Suggestions are really helpful. Thanks.

    Hi I am looking into a number of ways to implement a labelling system similar to the one in Gmail. Basically I have a Resource at the lowest level and I would like to provide a number of organisational groupings for that resource in the form of labels. If anyone has implemented something like that I would like to hear your views. My idea is to have within the Resource instance a List<Label>. I need to have an efficient mechanism in order to do very fast searches based on the labels or based on the resources. Thanks Dimitris

    Hi I need to send an email from my app, which will be running under medium trust. My current email sending code that works fine under full trust throws SecurityException under medium trust [SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Net.Mail.SmtpPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.] Examining my machine.config and allied files reveal that my SMTP access is restricted to Connect. <SecurityClass Name="SmtpPermission" Description="System.Net.Mail.SmtpPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"/> and <IPermission class="SmtpPermission" version="1" Access="Connect"/> According to MSDN, Connect allows request on port 25 only. But Gmail servers work on port 587. Any workarounds? suggestions?
