• Read Velocity Tokens/Tag from .vm file

  I have an application where in I am trying to create a velocity template repository which will help me centralise all my email templates and will allow me to create a communication hub. All templates will be called at runtime and populates with data via services. My problem is that I need to provide users with optional and compulsory params list when they define the template inputs for the velocity template. Is there a way to read the tokens/tags from the velocity template file and extract them?? Like I want a list of tokens $name.address.streetName to be available to me from .vm file. I do not want to go for Regex . I do not have to cache or reuse them , its just going to be a one time read and store the default,compulsory & optional params in the database. • Wait window in a windows application

  I basically need to show a wait window to the user. For this i have put two seperate window forms in the application. the first form is the main form with a button. The second one is a empty one with just a label text. On click of the button in Form1 i do the below Form2 f = new Form2(); f.Show(); Thread.Sleep(2000); f.Close(); My idea here is to show the wait window to the user for 2 second. But when i do this the Form 2 is not completely loaded because of which the label in it is blank. Please let me know your inputs on this.

• step attribute not working with HTML5 <input type="range"> on Safari

  Are there known issues with range inputs not working fully on Safari? I have the following input element: <input type=?"range" min=?"0" max=?"360" step=?"0.0001" value=?"0">? On Chrome, the input goes according to the step variable. On Safari, it only goes by integer values. Even setting the step to 10 still makes it go by increments of 1. I'm confused because I thought Chrome and Safari both used WebKit.

• Radio buttons + array elements

  I have a form that can be dynamically duplicated (with JS) so that the user can enter as much data as he wants. This works great for text inputs, because I just leave the name attribute the same (ending with a []) and then when the values are posted, it just returns me an array. Now I just realized that this doesn't work so well for radio buttons, because the names actually need to be unique for each set. But from the data standpoint, each set only returns one value, so retrieving the data from the POST data wouldn't be a problem, it just screws up the functionality of my form. There's no way around this, is there? I'm just screwed and I can't use arrays?

  Hi All, I am going to create a new asp.net web service (.NET framework 2.0), the functionality of the web service is to recieve xml input, perform the relevant operation (add/modify/delete) based on the input and return codes which indicates the status of the operation. I am planning to implement two layer architecture (Business layer and database layer) for this web service, could anyone advise whether this is the right structure or any other structure would perform well than this.   Given the following inputs: line1 = "Hey | Hello | Good | Morning" line2 = "Hey , Hello , Good , Morning" file1=length1=name1=title1=nil Using ',' to split the string as follows: file1, length1, name1, title1 = line2.split(/,\s*/) I get the following output: puts file1,length1,name1,title1 >Hey >Hello >Good >Morning However, using '|' to split the string I receive a different output: file1, length1, name1, title1 = line2.split(/|\s*/) puts file1,length1,name1,title1 >H >e >y Both the strings are same except the separating symbol (a comma in first case and a pipe in second case). The format of the split function I am using is also the same except, of course, for the delimiting character. What causes this variation?

• getting the names of elements in JS/jQuery

  I have some checkbox inputs like so: <input type="checkbox" name="1" class="filter"/> <input type="checkbox" name="2" class="filter"/> ...etc... I'm trying to write a function where any time a checkbox is selected, it generates a string with all the names concatenated. Here's what I have so far: $('.filter').click(function(event){ var filters = $('.filter').toArray(); var fstr = ""; for (f in filters) { fstr = fstr+","+f.name; } alert(fstr); }); The names keep coming up as 'undefined', though (i.e. the alert returns ,undefined,undefined,undefined,undefined,undefined,undefined). • problem with iOS 4.2 when user press the list view item to go to UIwebview page and the navigation button disappears on the second visit

  My app is a Navigation based application. The main menu contains the list view items. if I clicks one of them, it goes to next view which in this case take me to UIwebview embedded web site. Everything is looking great. I can view the content of web page, the navigation control back button which takes to the main menu if I press it. However, I'm having issue when I try to go back to main menu if i visit that subview the second time. It loads the content of UIwebview web page, but the navigation button is gone and won't let me go back to main menu. This problem only appears on latest iOS 4.2 version. Otherwise it works great on 3.1 to 4.1. I would appreciate any hints or inputs. Note this seems not working for subview using UIWebview embedded web content. I don't have any issue with other subviews

Next, I added the data scripts then added those logs that I want Splunk to monitor. Currently I cannot have real-time data. Perhaps due to my scripted inputs. Current situation is that Splunk did run my .bat in bin folder(logs were updated). However, my chart always shows "waiting for data" ...

Like: print '1' x = raw_input() print '2' y = raw_input() Something like this, but it would go on for at least 10 times. My only concern with doing the above is that it would make up for poor code readability. How should I do it? • Django 1.2: Dates in admin forms don't work with Locales (I10N=True)

  I have an application in Django 1.2. Language is selectable (I18N and Locale = True) When I select the english lang. in the site, the admin works OK. But when I change to any other language this is what happens with date inputs (spanish example): Correctly, the input accepts the spanish format %d/%m/%Y (Even selecting from the calendar, the date inserts as expected). But when I save the form and load it again, the date shows in the english form: %Y-%m-%d The real problem is that when I load the form to change any other text field and try to save it I get an error telling me to enter a valid date, so I have to write all dates again or change the language in the site to use the admin. I haven't specified anything for DATE_INPUT_FORMATS in settings nor have I overridden forms or models. Surely I am missing something but I can't find it. Can anybody give me a hint?

  Our team has recently been working on a logic and data layer for our database. We were not approved to utilize Entity or Linq to SQL for the data layer. It was primarily built by hand. A lot of the SQL is auto generated. An obvious down fall of this is the need to sanitize inputs prior to retrieval and insertion. What are the best methods for doing this? Searching for terms like insert, delete, etc seems like a poor way to accomplish this. Is there a better alternative?

  Hi, I tried to turn on the Activity Monitor using SQL Server 2008 Management Studio (SSMS) through the options window of the application (Tools | Options | Environment | General | At Startup). I restarted SSMS and I am getting the following message: "This operation does not support connections to Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition version 8.00.2249." I need to be able to monitor the processes and activities inside the database since I am investigating a particular application which takes a lot of time in its database data retrieval access and I am thinking it may be due to some locks or some processes. I have the following constants in my header file: #define PREFS_MY_CONSTANT_1 @"bla1" #define PREFS_MY_CONSTANT_2 @"bla2" #define PREFS_MY_CONSTANT_3 @"bla3" ... In one of my functions, I'd like to print to the UIbutton one of those strings based on user input, so say the user inputs '1', i would show bla1. Instead of creating a huge switch (i have 100 of those), I am looking for a way to combine the constant with the variable holding the user input, so something like that ideally: NSInteger input; [button setTitle:PREFS_MY_CONSTANT_{$input} forState: UIControlStateNormal]; Is something like that possible? what would be the best way to solve this?

• Date or String declaration in a javabean

  Should I declare an attribute in a javabean that holds a date value a user types in on an HTML form as a String or Date? I feel I should declare as a Date, however, since I do server validation on all form data, if the date doesn't validate, when I pass the form bean back to the jsp view for correcting, I lose the date value that the user tried to type in. If I declare as a String, if the date doesn't validate, I'm able to set the string value in the bean and pass the bean back to the view and the user can see what they incorrectly typed. But with a String declaration for Date inputs I forsee problems down the road with my DAO. I want to be able to use a DAO utility which generates a prepare statement using setObject. In my html form I request dates to be mm/dd/yyyy and in DAO i'm using Oracle Date. I can not use hibernate or such, since this is a corporate intranet. What is the best practice "pattern" I should be following??

  I would like to distinguish date at midnight (i.e. '12/05/2010 00:00:00') from date without time specified (i.e. '12/05/2010'). This value is provided by user, sometimes it is only date which is important, sometimes it is date and time and later the application is expected to show the time only when it was explicitly provided. So for the following inputs I would expect the following outputs: for '12/05/2010' I would expect '12/05/2010' for '12/05/2010 09:23' I would expect '12/05/2010 09:23' for '12/05/2010 00:00' I would expect '12/05/2010 00:00' I know I can model it in two separate columns, date and time, but I was wondering was there any way of handling this in single date column?

  is it able to "override/overwrite" an input element fixed value using javascript and/or jquery? i.e. if i have an input element like this: <div id="myDiv"> <input type="text" name="inputs" value="someValue" /> </div> is it possible to make a jquery object of that element and then change its value to something else then rewrite the jquery object to the dom?? i'm trying but obviously i haven't got good results! i've been trying something like this: $('input').val("someOtherDynamicValue"); var x = $('input'); $("#myDiv").html(x);

• With google maps, can you use google's own popup windows?

  I've implemented a google map with points and stuff that uses an address that the user inputs. When you click a point, the popup bubble appears with the name and address in. Often this name and address is a prominent location, as it's used for meetings and things, such as a university. If you google the address yourself on maps.google.co.uk then you get google's own popup bubble, which often has a photo, information, opening hours, links to directions, reviews, etc. etc. I am wondering if there's a way to use that popup dialog instead of my own, where it is available. I can't see anything in the API to do this. I'm using V2 as we support IE6 in a lot of our users, but I've been told recently I can upgrade to V3 should I need functionality from it. Any ideas?

  I am trying to add additional form data by using https://github.com/blueimp/jQuery-File-Upload/wiki/How-to-submit-additional-form-data this tutorial for jQuery-File-Upload plugin in my Rails app. I'm following the instructions for Setting formData on upload start for each individual file upload. My problem is, after saving the files with their titles as explained in tutorial, I cannot show them in the final table, because I don't know how to reach the formData's values. How should I reach the data inside data.formData = inputs.serializeArray(); and post them next to each item ? Thanks.

• F# - Function with no arguments?

  When thinking in a functional mindset, given that functions are supposed to be pure, one can conclude any function with no arguments is basically just a value. However, reallity gets in the way, and with different inputs, I might not need a certain function, and if that function is computationally expensive, I'd like to not evaluate it if it's not needed. I found a workaround, using let func _ = ... and calling it with func 1 or whatever, but that feels very non-idiomatic and confusing to the reader. This boils down to one question: In F#, Is there a proper way to declare a function with zero arguments, without having it evaluated on declaration?

• CakePHP Form Helper - Show error class, but not error message

  I'm attempting to customize the error output on the CakePHP 2.0 form helper. Currently, the form renders error messages below the input and applies an 'error' class to the input's label. I have found that I can either disable error reporting altogether for an input, or output the error class and message. I would like the error class to be applied to the label of the offending inputs WITHOUT any message below. How do you turn off the error message outputting for a form, BUT still apply error classes to offending labels?

• Flex Application for PlayBook Text Input Variable

  I know this is probably a very simple question, but can someone please walk me through how to take what a user inputs into a s:TextInput and use that as a variable in a JSON data request? Basically, I want to have a user enter a search term, like "math" and then have that placed into a variable so I can use it in a JSON request. Something like public var q:String, except that my search box (and hence user input) is on another "view" of the application. I've just started with Flex Mobile applications and I might be way out of my league. Does anyone know how to do this?
