• Rational Application Developer (RAD) 7.5+ and websphere runtime will not pick up jars from projects

  With RAD Version: 7.5.3, Java 1.5. I have a couple of different projects. I needed to break out the java code and turn the *.class files into a jar. So basically, same *.class files I just removed the code and then jarred the class files into a jar. I broke the classes into a jar and then included the jar in the project. And I also did an order/export on the jar so that other projects can see the jar. At this point, ideally my project should not have changed because I am using class files in a jar instead of the java code. When I visit my web application in websphere, I get class not found errors on the classes that are now in the jar. Project Structure: A. Project earApp -- will need the webapp B. Project webapp -- will need the project (no jar files or *.java files are found in this project) C. Project javasrc -- the java source and the NEW JAR file are found here. I don't think websphere is acknowledging the jar.   I have a problem modernizing a Java WebStart application under Java 6 u 13 (the latest at this moment) We desire to use the new mechanism to have several master configuration files each with their own configuration , which then "include" another jnlp file which is autogenerated to ensure that the jar list is accurate. After quite a bit of poking I have made it work, except for the fact that the properties defined in the master file is not available to the program when Main is invoked.   I have a server with CentOS 4.8 installed. The provided is rubbish, but there's only a few months left, and they're busy being sued by Chase bank, so I doubt I can get CentOS 5. I wiped the server clean using Virtuozzo, and found that the default image is VERY empty. I even had to install yum myself. I've reached the point where I want to install TomCat. I downloaded the Sun JRE as a .rpm.bin file, did chmod a+x and ran it. • Is there software that will help me convert my PST files into a searachable web archive?

  I have used POP3 for many and many years and always used PST files for back-up purposes. I'd like to be able to create a searchable mail archive of this 12GB worth of e-mail. I had used Horde + Qmail for a while for searching e-mail, but it was truly horrible and even extremely slow when searching into a few ten thousands of e-mails, let alone more than a million. I would prefer a free solution that would provide fast searching through historical e-mails. Also, preferably hosted on a server, so I don't have to worry about backing up any more crucial data on my desktop.

• Should you archive documents before backing up to the cloud?

  I'm planning to add a cloud storage to my personal backup strategy. But now I wonder if it really is worth the trouble of compressing my documents and photos. The Open XML-format already have zip-compression and JPEG is a lossy image format. So there really isn't much benefit in compressing. 20Mb of documents become about 17Mb at the ULTRA preset of 7-zip. One benefit I can imagine is that you can shorten upload time by archiving the folders since it minimizes the number of requests that is needed to be sent to the server at upload and download. So what are your thoughts and experience in this issue? Should you archive your documents before backing them up to the cloud?

• How to separate ear classloader and system classloader in JBoss 6?

  I'm trying to upgrade from JBoss 4.2.1 to JBoss 6. In JBoss 4.2.1, we are manually deploying our application as an exploded war and everything works beautifully. I'm running into problems because the application that I am trying to deploy uses versions of 3rd party libraries that are older than the ones that JBoss 6 now includes by default. The result of this is that I'm getting classloader conflicts all over the place and the application won't even start. At present, I have tried using the JBoss Classloading Documentation as well as the scanty bits of documentation for jboss-classloading.xml and haven't had any success. Has anyone out there managed to do this successfully? If you have, how did you do it? I've included a stack trace below in case it offers any useful information. • Android strict dependency checks in SDK 17

  This is not a question because I already found the answer. The new Android SDK 17 has a stricter dependency check on jar files. At the same time, they added a jar that I think wasn't there before. My project encountered a conflict between the new annotations.jar in the SDK and one that I already used. Replacing one by the other would work, if they have the same origin. • Attempting to GREP details of a Java error

  I'm running Ubuntu 11 and I'm having some issues with grep. I have a shell script (see below) which essentially checks if a certain Java program of mine is running, if not it runs it. That part works out great! If my Java application throws any kind of exception however I would like to capture that information and email it to myself. How can I go about checking to see if the call to java -jar /bin/MyApp.jar fails? I tried piping it to grep, but that doesn't seem to work. • Piping stream into tar on FreeBSD

  I am trying to pipe a tar/gzip archive into tar to decompress it. The script I have is part of a self extracting installer, where my archive is appended to the script. This works fine on linux, and the script looks like this: export TMPDIR=`mktemp -d /tmp/selfextract.XXXXXX` echo "TEMP: $TMPDIR" ARCHIVE=`awk '/^__ARCHIVE_BELOW__/ {print NR + 1; exit 0; }' $0` tail -n+$ARCHIVE $0 | tar xz -C $TMPDIR exit 0 __ARCHIVE_BELOW__ The tar archive as a string is after the ARCHIVE_BELOW but I omitted it from here since it's huge. However, when I do this on FreeBSD I get the following error: tar: Failed to open '/dev/sa0' I read that this is because free BSD expects to read from that device by default and you can tell it to read from stdin by passing -f - like so: tail -n+$ARCHIVE $0 | tar zxf - -C $TMPDIR However, when I do this I just get the error: tar: Damaged tar archive tar: Retrying... Can anyone point out what I am doing wrong here? I need to do it this way (Via piping) for efficiency reasons. Thanks

  I'm validating the installation of a program that consists of a few separate modules. They are not co-dependent. I have apple.jar and orange.jar, they are placed in the same folder and were developed in the same project, but run independent of each other.   Hi, I have a set of functional jars(more than 3) that tests my source code. These jars just contains test classes and assisting asserter classes. I am creating a new performance jar that would import all the functional tests from these jars so that all can be run simultaneously. But when I include them as test dependencies in pom of current jar, what all I get to see is the classes in src/main/java. How can I include these functional jars as dependent jars so that I can also reference classes in src/test/java. In other words, how do I reference the test classes in other jars. In what way should I include the dependency as. Thanks for your support.

• How to reference/link another project in grails workspace without using jar files?

  I have a Grails website that references a java core application. I have been successful in adding a .jar dependency to that project; however the java project is in the same workspace as my grails project and I would ultimately like to reference that project directly. I don't want to deal with the added step of creating a new jar file every time that there is a modification to the java project, cleaning and updating my dependencies. I added the java project to my grails' project "Java Build Path" and at first everything seemed to work fine, but when I run grailscompile, the compiler fails to resolve all imports that point to the java project. I am using Spring Source Toolsuite as my IDE.

• Cannot locate packages for Citrix install

  I'm trying to get a Citrix receiver installed on to Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bit) following Ubuntu's docs. The first line of instructions say to get these required packages: sudo apt-get install libmotif4:i386 nspluginwrapper lib32z1 libc6-i386 libxp6:i386 libxpm4:i386 libasound2:i386 But if I paste in that line, I get this error: Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package libmotif4 E: Unable to locate package libxp6 E: Unable to locate package libxpm4 E: Unable to locate package libasound2 My repository settings are below. Is there anything I'm missing in there?
