  • LAbeling with Percentage in R plot

    - by Libo Cannici
    Hi I have made this function that takes a table and prepare the label for a barplot prepare_labels <- function(ft){ labs <- ft labs <- paste(labs, "\n", sep="") labs <- paste(labs, round(prop.table(ft)*100,2), sep="") labs <- paste(labs, "%", sep="") return(labs) } It actually works fine, but is there any better way to write that function, the above code looks ugly and I want to write beautiful code :-) ex: ft <- table(mydata$phone_partner_products) prepare_labels(ft) [1] "3752\n34.09%" "226\n2.05%" "2907\n26.41%" "1404\n12.76%" "1653\n15.02%" [6] "1065\n9.68%"

  • A C++ text editing component that handles footnotes?

    - by Rich
After a cursory glance round and some thinking, the only way I can think of to create a footnoting editing component is several rich edit controls, though with this method there's many caveats. Does anyone know of any existing component which handles anything like this? Thanks.

  • A good way to release fixtures

    - by Luke
Hey, my problem is as follows, I am trying to create code where a set of sporting fixtures are created with dates on. Say I have 8 teams, with 7 rounds of fixtures. I have generated the fixtures, but want to add a date generation on them. So if i had 7 rounds, I would put 28 days and it would make each round 4 days from now, 8 days from now, etc. What would be the best way to go about doing this? Thanks

  • What's the difference between 'service' and 'server'?

    - by bonefisher
I can imagine that the 'server' can be a machine/host but can be also a program like ftp server, smtp server, etc.. The 'service' on the other hand refers mainly to applications/programms.. Why can then for example the Sql Server cannot be called as Sql Service? It has the same semanthics. Or the other way round: MS Azure service: why it isn't called Azure Server? :)

  • Should I create a new extension for an xml file?

    - by macleojw
I'm working with a data model stored in XML files. I want to create some metadata for the model and store it alongside, but would like to be able to distinguish between the two. The data model is imported into some software from time to time and we don't want it to try to import the meta data files. To get round this, I've been thinking of creating a new extension for the metadata xml files (say .mdml). Is this good practice?

  • Remove dash from a phone number

    - by zoom_pat277
What regular expression using java could be used to filter out dashes '-' and open close round brackets from a string representing phone numbers... so that (234) 887-9999 should give 2348879999 and similarly 234-887-9999 should give 2348879999. Thanks,

Here's my current code to change the cell: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView willDisplayCell:(UITableViewCell *)cell forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { [cell setBackgroundColor:[UIColor colorWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"tableCell.png"]]]; } How can i get round this problem? Thanks in advance.

I can work round this by adding a click event etc but I want to fix the issue without extra tape! Any ideas why this doesn't work on IE6? $('#button_holder').html('<a href="#" onclick="run_activity_upload(); return false;" id="save_button">Upload</a>'); Thanks, Abs

  • retreive the url of the page an image sits on

    - by Ayyash
I'm trying to log URLs that access broken images, using an HTTP module to catch those images when accessed. How do you retrieve the URL where that image sits on? is there a way to do it the other way round too? That is, loop through images served in a URL and decide which ones are broken. This is all in ASP.NET with C#.

  • In a MySQL SELECT query, can I use my "AS column" in a WHERE specification?

    - by user556352
In my database I calculate distance between nodes with: SELECT DISTINCT dest.name, AsText(orig.location), AsText(dest.location), round((glength(linestringfromwkb(linestring((orig.location), (dest.location)))))) as distance FROM nodes orig, nodes dest WHERE orig.name='GERP' I would like to add "and distance < dest.visibility" at the end, but am told that distance is an unknown column. Any insight very much appreciated.

  • Java Dynamic Binding

    - by Chris Okyen
I am having trouble understanding the OOP Polymorphic principl of Dynamic Binding ( Late Binding ) in Java. I looked for question pertaining to java, and wasn't sure if a overall answer to how dynamic binding works would pertain to Java Dynamic Binding, I wrote this question. Given: class Person { private String name; Person(intitialName) { name = initialName; } // irrelevant methods is here. // Overides Objects method public void writeOutput() { println(name); } } class Student extends Person { private int studentNumber; Student(String intitialName, int initialStudentNumber) { super(intitialName); studentNumber = initialStudentNumber; } // irrellevant methods here... // overides Person, Student and Objects method public void writeOutput() { super.writeOutput(); println(studentNumber); } } class Undergaraduate extends Student { private int level; Undergraduate(String intitialName, int initialStudentNumber, int initialLevel) { super(intitialName, initialStudentNumber); level = initialLevel; } // irrelevant methods is here. // overides Person, Student and Objects method public void writeOutput() { super.writeOutput(); println(level); } } I am wondering. if I had an array called person declared to contain objects of type Person: Person[] people = new Person[2]; person[0] = new Undergraduate("Cotty, Manny",4910,1); person[1] = new Student("DeBanque, Robin", 8812); Given that person[] is declared to be of type Person, you would expect, for example, in the third line where person[0] is initialized to a new Undergraduate object,to only gain the instance variable from Person and Persons Methods since doesn't the assignment to a new Undergraduate to it's ancestor denote the Undergraduate object to access Person - it's Ancestors, methods and isntance variables... Thus ...with the following code I would expect person[0].writeOutput(); // calls Undergraduate::writeOutput() person[1].writeOutput(); // calls Student::writeOutput() person[0] to not have Undergraduate's writeOutput() overidden method, nor have person[1] to have Student's overidden method - writeOutput(). If I had Person mikeJones = new Student("Who?,MikeJones",44,4); mikeJones.writeOutput(); The Person::writeOutput() method would be called. Why is this not so? Does it have to do with something I don't understand about relating to arrays? Does the declaration Person[] people = new Person[2] not bind the method like the previous code would?
