  • Graphing special functions in Matlab (2D Bessel)

    - by favala
    I'm trying to essentially get something like this where I can see clear ripples at the base but otherwise it's like a Gaussian: This is kind of unsatisfactory because the ripples aren't very noticeable, it has a very gritty quality that obscures the image a bit, and if you move the graph so that it's just in 2D (so it looks like a circle) I'm not even sure if it's quite like how it should be (the concentric circles seem to be more evenly spaced in the real thing). So, is there a better way to do this? a = 2*pi; [X Y] = meshgrid(-1:0.01:1,-1:0.01:1); R = sqrt(X.^2+Y.^2); f = (2*besselj(1,a*R(:))./R(:)).^2; mesh(X,Y,reshape(f,size(X))); axis vis3d;

  • Rails: Problem with routes and special Action.

    - by Newbie
Hello! Sorry for this question but I can't find my error! In my Project I have my model called "team". A User can create a "team" or a "contest". The difference between this both is, that contest requires more data than a normal team. So I created the columns in my team table. Well... I also created a new view called create_contest.html.erb : <h1>New team content</h1> <% form_for @team, :url => { :action => 'create_content' } do |f| %> <%= f.error_messages %> <p> <%= f.label :name %><br /> <%= f.text_field :name %> </p> <p> <%= f.label :description %><br /> <%= f.text_area :description %> </p> <p> <%= f.label :url %><br /> <%= f.text_fiels :url %> </p> <p> <%= f.label :contact_name %><br /> <%= f.text_fiels :contact_name %> </p> <p> <%= f.submit 'Create' %> </p> <% end %> In my teams_controller, I created following functions: def new_contest end def create_contest if @can_create @team = Team.new(params[:team]) @team.user_id = current_user.id respond_to do |format| if @team.save format.html { redirect_to(@team, :notice => 'Contest was successfully created.') } format.xml { render :xml => @team, :status => :created, :location => @team } else format.html { render :action => "new" } format.xml { render :xml => @team.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end else redirect_back_or_default('/') end end Now, I want on my teams/new.html.erb a link to "new_contest.html.erb". So I did: <%= link_to 'click here for new contest!', new_contest_team_path %> When I go to the /teams/new.html.erb page, I get following error: undefined local variable or method `new_contest_team_path' for #<ActionView::Base:0x16fc4f7> So I changed in my routes.rb, map.resources :teams to map.resources :teams, :member=>{:new_contest => :get} Now I get following error: new_contest_team_url failed to generate from {:controller=>"teams", :action=>"new_contest"} - you may have ambiguous routes, or you may need to supply additional parameters for this route. content_url has the following required parameters: ["teams", :id, "new_contest"] - are they all satisfied? I don't think adding :member => {...} is the right way doing this. So, can you tell me what to do? I want to have an URL like /teams/new-contest or something. My next question: what to do (after fixing the first problem), to validate presentence of all fields for new_contest.html.erb? In my normal new.html.erb, a user does not need all the data. But in new_contest.html.erb he does. Is there a way to make a validates_presence_of only for one action (in this case new_contest)? UPDATE: Now, I removed my :member part from my routes.rb and wrote: map.new_contest '/teams/contest/new', :controller => 'teams', :action => 'new_contest' Now, clicking on my link, it redirects me to /teams/contest/new - like I wanted - but I get another error called: Called id for nil, which would mistakenly be 4 -- if you really wanted the id of nil, use object_id I think this error is cause of @team at <% form_for @team, :url => { :action => 'create_content_team' } do |f| %> What to do for solving this error?

  • copy rows with special condition

    - by pooria_googooli
I have a table with a lot of columns. For example I have a table with these columns : ID,Fname,Lname,Tel,Mob,Email,Job,Code,Company,...... ID column is auto number column. I want to copy all rows in this table to this table and change the company column value to 12 in this copied row. I don't want to write name all of the columns because I have a lot of table with a lot of columns. I tried this code but I had this error : declare @c int; declare @i int; select * into CmDet from CmDet; select @C= count(id) from CmDet; while @i < @C begin UPDATE CmDet SET company =12 WHERE company=11 set @i += 1 end error : Msg 2714, Level 16, State 6, Line 3 There is already an object named 'CmDet' in the database. I changed the code to this declare @c int declare @i int insert into CmDet select * from CmDet; select @C= count(id) from CmDet; while @i < @C begin UPDATE CmDet SET company =12 WHERE company=11 set @i += 1 end and I had this error : Msg 8101, Level 16, State 1, Line 3 An explicit value for the identity column in table 'CmDet' can only be specified when a column list is used and IDENTITY_INSERT is ON. What should I do ?

  • Regex whitespace and special characters

    - by Sam R.
I have this regular expression: [^\\s\"']+|\"([^\"]*)\"|'([^']*)' which works for splitting a string by white spaces, and anything within a quotation is not delimited. However, I notice that if I put in a string that starts with "" no matches are found. How would I correct this? For example, if I enter " test 2". I want it to match to [, test, 2] Note: using java to compile the regex, here is some code Pattern pattern = Pattern.compile("[^\\s\"']+|\"([^\"]*)\"|'([^']*)'"); Matcher matcher = pattern.matcher(SomeString); while (matcher.find()){ String temp = matcher.group(); //... Do something ... } Thanks.

  • Need Regex for to match special situations

    - by Daniel
I'm desperately searching for regular expressions that match these scenarios: 1) Match alternating chars I've a string like "This is my foobababababaf string" - and I want to match "babababa" Only thing I know is the length of the fragment to search - I don't know what chars/digits that might be - but they are alternating. I've really no clue where to start :( 2) Match combined groups In a string like "This is my foobaafoobaaaooo string" - and I want to match "aaaooo". Like in 1) I don't know what chars/digits that might be. I only know that they will appear in two groups. I experimented using (.)\1\1\1(.)\1\1\1 and things like this...

  • Special simple random number generator

    - by psihodelia
How to create a function, which on every call generates a random integer number? This number must be most random as possible (according to uniform distribution). It is only allowed to use one static variable and at most 3 elementary steps, where each step consists of only one basic arithmetic operation of arity 1 or 2. Example: int myrandom(void){ static int x; x = some_step1; x = some_step2; x = some_step3; return x; } Basic arithmetic operations are +,-,%,and, not, xor, or, left shift, right shift, multiplication and division. Of course, no rand(), random() or similar staff is allowed.

  • Regex to find the text without a special character

    - by Hunter
I have a paragraph, in that, some of the texts are surrounded with a specific html tag. I need to to find the text which are not surrounded by that specific html tag. For example AVG Antivirus for Smartphones and Tablets detects harmful apps and SMS. <font color='black'>AVG</font> Mobilation™ AntiVirus Pro for Android™ is a mobile security solution that helps protect your mobile device from viruses, malware, spyware and online exploitation in real-time. avg blah blah... I want to find the word AVG (case insensitive) which is not surrounded by <font color='black'> </font>. It can be part the word or single whole word. In the case of part of the text, the whole word containing the word AVG should not surrounded by that html tag How can I do it with Java?

  • Removing control / special characters from log file

    - by digitalsky
I have a log file captured by tclsh which captures all the backspace characters (ctrl-H, shows up as "^H") and color-setting sequences (eg. ^[[32m .... ^[[0m ). What is an efficient way to remove them? ^[...m This one is easy since, I can just do "sed -i /^[.*m//g" to remove them ^H Right now I have "sed -i s/.^H//", which "applies" a backspace, but I have to keep looping this until there are no more backspaces. while [ logfile == `grep -l ^H logfile` ]; do sed -i s/.^H// logfile ; done; "sed -i s/.^H//g" doesn't work because it would match consecutive backspaces. This process takes 11 mins for my log file with ~6k lines, which is too long. Any better ways to remove the backspace?

  • Razor - Unexpected "foreach" keyword after "@" character

    - by Jaco Pretorius
    I have a partial view done in razor. When I run it I get the following error - it seems like Razor gets stuck into thinking I'm writing code everywhere. Unexpected "foreach" keyword after "@" character. Once inside code, you do not need to prefix constructs like "foreach" with "@" Here is my view @model IEnumerable<SomeModel> <div> @using(Html.BeginForm("Update", "UserManagement", FormMethod.Post)) { @Html.Hidden("UserId", ViewBag.UserId) @foreach(var link in Model) { if(link.Linked) { <input type="checkbox" name="userLinks" value="@link.Id" checked="checked" />@link.Description<br /> } else { <input type="checkbox" name="userLinks" value="@link.Id" />@link.Description<br /> } } } </div>

  • PHP Explode with an Unicode character as separator

    - by Young Roger
XPDFs pdftotext converts pdf to text and outputs it at command line level. If needed it inserts PageBreaks between the pages as specified in TextOutputDev.cc: eopLen = uMap->mapUnicode(0x0c, eop, sizeof(eop)); This Unicode symbol is encoding independent, -enc ASCII7 wouldn't change it. I'm currently willing to use PHP for converting and splitting the PDF file into several TXT pages for database storage. However, the following function does work, but takes twice as long as a conversion of the whole book in one time. for($i = 1; $i <= $pages[0]; $i++) $page[$i] = shell_exec('/usr/bin/pdftotext sample.pdf -f '.$i.' -l '.$i.' -'); How am I supposed to explode(0x0c, $wholePDF) with an Unicode character as separator? Currently, page[$i] doesn't seem to retrieve those weird Unicode PageBreak characters from the shell_exec(). I tried several headers for encoding (UTF-8 especially) but it didn't work out so far.

  • Java servlet and UTF-8 problem

    - by Gabriele
I have some problem with UTF-8. My client (realized in GWT) make a request to my servlet, with some parametres in the URL, as follow: http://localhost:8080/servlet?param=value When in the servlet I retrieve the URL, I have some problem with UTF-8 characters. I use this code: protected void service(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { request.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8"); String reqUrl = request.getRequestURL().toString(); String queryString = request.getQueryString(); System.out.println("Request: "+reqUrl + "?" + queryString); ... So, if I call this url: http://localhost:8080/servlet?param=così the result is like this: Request: http://localhost:8080/servlet?param=cos%C3%AC What can I do to set up properly the character encoding?

  • Convert a Mysql database from latin to UTF-8

    - by Matthieu
I am converting a website from ISO to UTF-8, so I need to convert the Mysql database too. On internet, I read various solutions, I don't know wich one to choose. Do I really need to convert my varchar columns to binary, then to utf8 like that : ALTER TABLE t MODIFY col BINARY(150); ALTER TABLE t MODIFY col CHAR(150) CHARACTER SET utf8; This is long to do that for each column, of each table, of each database. I have 10 database, wich 20 tables each, wich around 2 - 3 varchar colums (2 queries each column), this gives me around 1000 queries to write ! How come ? How to do ?

  • Serializing Python bytestrings to JSON, preserving ordinal character values

    - by Doctor J
I have some binary data produced as base-256 bytestrings in Python (2.x). I need to read these into JavaScript, preserving the ordinal value of each byte (char) in the string. If you'll allow me to mix languages, I want to encode a string s in Python such that ord(s[i]) == s.charCodeAt(i) after I've read it back into JavaScript. The cleanest way to do this seems to be to serialize my Python strings to JSON. However, json.dump doesn't like my bytestrings, despite fiddling with the ensure_ascii and encoding parameters. Is there a way to encode bytestrings to Unicode strings that preserves ordinal character values? Otherwise I think I need to encode the characters above the ASCII range into JSON-style \u1234 escapes; but a codec like this does not seem to be among Python's codecs. Is there an easy way to serialize Python bytestrings to JSON, preserving char values, or do I need to write my own encoder?

  • html select option tag closes itself due to a "/" character in the dynamic value (JSP, JSTL)

    - by saky
<select id="ordersSelect" class="drop-down" onchange="somemethod()"> <c:forEach items="${orders}" var="order" varStatus="orderStatus"> <option value="${order.id}"> ${order.publicId} </option> </c:forEach> </select> I have the above peice of code in a JSP page, that receives a list of Orders and each order has some information, the particular information that I want to display in a SELECT field is the publicId. The problem is that, on display there is only one OPTION in the SELECT and the rest of the order's publicId s are displayed as normal text below the SELECT box and not an OPTION to select. I found out that the publicId actually contains a String like A10/0001/0 and that is the character "/" is most probably causing the problem. Any solutions/suggestion/ideas?

  • DrawString with character wrapping

    - by Roy
Hi all, I'm creating a fatal error dialog for a Windows Mobile Application using C#. The problem is when I try to draw the stacktrace using DrawString, half of my stacktrace is getting clipped off because DrawString uses word wrapping instead of character wrapping. For those who don't understand the explanation: When i draw the stacktrace, it comes out as this: at company.application.name.space.Funct at company.application.name.Function(St at etc. etc. And i want it to print like this: at company.application.name.space.Funct ion(String sometext, Int32 somenumbe r) at company.application.name.Function(St ring sometext, Int32 somenumber, Int 32 anothernumber) at etc. etc. Is this possible in Csharp?

  • Regex Pattern for ignoring a custom escape character

    - by user1517464
I am trying to find a suitable regex for matching pair of custom characters in an input string. These custom characters are replaced by their corresponding html tags. For e.g. The input string can have underscores in pairs to indicate words in bold. Hence, _Name_ outputs as <b>Name</b> However if there is a genuine underscore in the string, it cannot be replaced by "bold" tags and has to be ignored. The genuine underscore has to be preceded by / (I couldn't find a better character, it could be one more underscore or hyphen or whatever). Any single or paired occurrance of this genuine underscore has to be ignored by regex. So far I could come up with this regex: var pattern = @"(?!/)_(.*?)(?!/)_"; But it fails in below input string: _Tom_Katy/_Richard/_/_Stephan_and many users It outputs as <b>Tom</b>Katy/<b>Richard/_/</b>Stephan_and many users Many Thanks in Advance, Pr

  • Live Character Count For EditText Android

    - by Taylor Perkins
Hello, I was wondering what the best way to do a live character count of an edit-text box is in Android. I was looking at this but I couldn't seem to make any sense of it. To describe the problem, I have an EditText and I'm trying to limit the characters to 150. I can do this with an input filter, however I want to show right below the text box the number of characters a user has entered(Almost like stack overflow is doing right now). If someone could write a small snippet of example code or point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks in advance.

  • Amazon SQS invalid binary character in message body

  • YUI Compressor + gzip causes Illegal Character error in jQuery

    - by lo_fye
When I minify jquery using YUI compressor, it works fine. When I then add gzip compression (and serve this version via mod rewrite), the gzipped version throws this error: illegal character in jquery.min.js on line 1 Line 1 is: ???????M???????????s?8?0???!sz?dKr?=? This results in a "jquery is not defined" error. I am using the following rewrite rules to serve up the gzipped versions: #Check to see if browser can accept gzip files. ReWriteCond %{HTTP:accept-encoding} (gzip.*) #make sure there's no trailing .gz on the url ReWriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !^.+\.gz$ #check to see if a .gz version of the file exists. RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}.gz -f #All conditions met so add .gz to URL filename (invisibly) RewriteRule ^(.+) $1.gz [L] I can't find any references to this happening to anyone else. Thoughts?

I am trying to send special characters like spanish chars from my page to a JSP page as a form parameter. When I try get the parameter which I sent, it shows that as "?" (Question mark). • Cleaning strings in R: add punctuation w/o overwriting last character

    - by spearmint
I'm new to R and unable to find other threads with a similar issue. I'm cleaning data that requires punctuation at the end of each line. I am unable to add, say, a period without overwriting the final character of the line preceding the carriage return + line feed. Sample code: Data1 <- "%trn: dads sheep\r\n*MOT: hunn.\r\n%trn: yes.\r\n*MOT: ana mu\r\n%trn: where is it?" Data2 <- gsub("[^[:punct:]]\r\n\\*", ".\r\n\\*", Data1) The contents of Data2: [1] "%trn: dads shee.\r\n*MOT: hunn.\r\n%trn: yes.\r\n*MOT: ana mu\r\n%trn: where is it?" Notice the "p" of sheep was overwritten with the period. Any thoughts on how I could avoid this?
