IE8 isn't resizing tbody or thead when a column is hidden in a table with table-layout:fixed

IE 8 is doing something very strange when I hide a column in a table with table-layout:fixed. The column is hidden, the table element stays the same width, but the tbody and thead elements are not resized to fill the remaining width. It works in IE7 mode (and FF, Chrome, etc. of course). Has anyone seen this before or know of a workaround? IE CSS bug: table border showing div with visibility: hidden, position: absolute

The issue I have a <div> on a page which is initially hidden with a visibility: hidden; position: absolute. The issue is that if a <div> hidden this way contains a table which uses border-collapse: collapse and has a border set on it cells, that border still shows "through" the hidden <div> on IE. Try this for yourself by running the code below on IE6 or IE7. You should get a white page, but instead you will see: Possible workaround Since this is happening on IE and not on other browsers, I assume that this is an IE bug. One workaround is to add the following code which will override the border: .hide table tr td { border: none; } I am wondering: Is this a known IE bug? Is there a more elegant solution/workaround? It is only uploading first row's file input

I have a application which you can access here. If you open the application please click on the "Add" button a couple of times. This will add a new row into a table below. In each table row there is an AJAX file uploader. Now the problem is that if I click on the "Upload" button in any row except the first row, then the uploading only happens in the first row so it is only uploading the first file input only. Why is it doing this and how can I get it so that when then the user clicks the "Upload" button, the file input within that row of the "Upload" button is uploaded and not the first row being uploaded? unable to calculate textfield values

i am trying to change the input field when users changes the quantity of items in a text field. Here i am iterating my list from my database. Now i have to make invoice for customer. In my code , if i am changing quantity of a single item, then it is effecting all the other items in the list. I want to change only to the specific items,where its quantity has been change. Rails only returns blank page

I am new to Ruby on Rails and am trying to find all the orders for a given customer and then search through their order and total it all up. However when I try and test the page I only get a blank page, can anyone tell me why that might be? Disregard a particular TD element

Below I have the code that allows me to edit a table row inline. However it edits ALL of the TDs within that row. My problem, along with the code, are stated below. ASP.NET MVC: Simple view to display contents of DataTable

In one of my current projects I have to show reports based on SQL Server views. My code should be not aware of data it shows. It just asks data from view and displays it user. As WebGrid didn’t seem to work with DataTable (at least with no hocus-pocus) I wrote my own very simple view that shows contents of DataTable. I don’t focus right now on data querying questions as this part of my simple generic reporting stuff is still under construction. If the final result is something good enough to share with wider audience I will blog about it for sure. My view uses DataTable as model. It iterates through columns collection to get column names and then iterates through rows and writes out values of all columns. Nothing special, just simple generic view for DataTable. @model System.Data.DataTable @using System.Data; <h2>Report</h2> <table> <thead> <tr> @foreach (DataColumn col in Model.Columns) { <th>@col.ColumnName</th> } </tr> </thead> <tbody> @foreach (DataRow row in Model.Rows) { <tr> @foreach (DataColumn col in Model.Columns) { <td>@row[col.ColumnName]</td> } </tr> } </tbody> </table> In my controller action I have code like this. GetParams() is simple function that reads parameter values from form. This part of my simple reporting system is still under construction but as you can see it will be easy to use for UI developers. public ActionResult TasksByProjectReport() { var data = _reportService.GetReportData("MEMOS",GetParams()); return View(data); } Before seeing next silver bullet in this example please calm down. It is just plain and simple stuff for simple needs. If you need advanced and powerful reporting system then better use existing components by some vendor.

Binding a DropDownList in ListView InsertItemTemplate throwing an error

I've got a ListView which binds to a LinqDataSource and displays selected locations. The insert item Contains a dropdownlist that pulls from another LinqDataSource to give all the unselected locations. The problem is that I get the following error when loading the page: Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control. I'm doing a very similar setup in another page of the website, and it isn't giving us this error so I'm pretty confused. I know I can work around this by not binding, manually finding the control and getting the value, but this should work and I don't understand why it isn't. Any thoughts? How to insert inline content from one FlowDocument into another?

I'm building an application that needs to allow a user to insert text from one RichTextBox at the current caret position in another one. I spent a lot of time screwing around with the FlowDocument's object model before running across this technique - source and target are both FlowDocuments: using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream()) { TextRange tr = new TextRange(source.ContentStart, source.ContentEnd); tr.Save(ms, DataFormats.Xaml); ms.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin); tr = new TextRange(target.CaretPosition, target.CaretPosition); tr.Load(ms, DataFormats.Xaml); } This works remarkably well. The only problem I'm having with it now is that it always inserts the source as a new paragraph. It breaks the current run (or whatever) at the caret, inserts the source, and ends the paragraph. That's appropriate if the source actually is a paragraph (or more than one paragraph), but not if it's just (say) a line of text. I think it's likely that the answer to this is going to end up being checking the target to see if it consists entirely of a single block, and if it does, setting the TextRange to point at the beginning and end of the block's content before saving it to the stream. The entire world of the FlowDocument is a roiling sea of dark mysteries to me. I can become an expert at it if I have to (per Dostoevsky: "Man is the animal who can get used to anything."), but if someone has already figured this out and can tell me how to do this it would make my life far easier.

Export to Excel from ASP.NET produces files unreadable with Excel Viewer

Hi, I want to output some dynamic data from an ASP.NET website to Excel. I found that the easiest way which does not require to use Excel XML or to install Excel on server machine is to output data as a table and specify application/vnd.ms-excel type. The problem is when I do so and try to open the file in Excel Viewer, I receive the following error message: Microsoft Excel Viewer cannot open files of this type. Then nothing is opened. Even an easiest code such as: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Response.Clear(); Response.Buffer = true; HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=Example.xls"); Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"; StringWriter stringWriter = new System.IO.StringWriter(); HtmlTextWriter htmlTextWriter = new System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter(stringWriter); dataGrid.RenderControl(htmlTextWriter); Response.Write("<html><body><table><tr><td>A</td><td>B</td></tr><tr><td>C</td><td>D</td></tr></table></body></html>"); Response.End(); } produces the same error. What can cause such behavior? Is it because the Viewer cannot read such files, but full Excel version can?

jQuery datepicker returns "inst is null" error when loaded via AJAX

I'm loading content via an AJAX call into a table row added to the DOM on the fly. I'm calling the datepicker functionality in my callback function and the calendar shows fine. However, when I click on the date, I get an error: inst is null. Submitting a multidimensional array via POST with php

I have a php form that has a known number of columns (ex. top diameter, bottom diameter, fabric, colour, quantity), but has an unknown number of rows, as users can add rows as they need. I've discovered how to take each of the fields(columns) and place them into an array of their own. <input name="topdiameter['+current+']" type="text" id="topdiameter'+current+'" size="5" /> <input name="bottomdiameter['+current+']" type="text" id="bottomdiameter'+current+'" size="5" /> So what I end up with in the HTML is: <tr> <td><input name="topdiameter[0]" type="text" id="topdiameter0" size="5" /></td> <td><input name="bottomdiameter[0]" type="text" id="bottomdiameter0" size="5" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input name="topdiameter[1]" type="text" id="topdiameter0" size="5" /></td> <td><input name="bottomdiameter[1]" type="text" id="bottomdiameter0" size="5" /></td> </tr> ...and so on. What I would like to do now is take all the rows and columns put them into a multidimensional array and email the contents of that to the client (preferably in a nicely formatted table). I haven't been able to really comprehend how to combine all those inputs and selects into a nice array. At this point, I'm going to have to try to use several 1D arrays, although I have the idea that using a single 2D array would be a better practice than using several 1D arrays.
