  • I want to better organize my website files, but I can access the .php files using the folder heirarc

    For example, to access a page in my search folder, I have to write: mywebsite.tld/search/searchJob.php I don't want users to have to write down folder structure and whatnot. What can I do to change this? OR, is there a better way to organize my files? Because I'm only two pages in and I decided to move some files and got lost in the heirarchy (that's why I moved them like in the picture).

  • Is One Tool or a Suite of Tools Better for Scrum?

    G'day, Edit: We've been using Scrum very successfully for several years on several projects of varying sizes. In fact, our team developed the successful iPlayer project for the BBC using a classical Scrum approach. After using various combinations of tools, some high-tech, some low-tech, across these projects we now wish to try adopting a suitable tool suite. Our manager is to some extent attempting to force the adoption of a single suite of tools for Scrum. I've looked at the SO question "Best Scrum tools" and most people seem to recommend either: a suite of low-tech solutions, e.g. whiteboards, post-its, index cards, etc., or a monolithic tool that tries to satisfy as much as possible of the process, e.g. Agilo, Mingle, ScrumWorks, Target Process, etc. Our team is currently evaluating several different Scrum tools. However, we are looking at selecting a single, monolithic tool, e.g. Agilo. All of the "one-stop" solutions have their strengths and weaknesses with the serious enterprise type solutions being the best sort of fit. But all have some short comings. After reading the paper "Peer Code Review: An Agile Process" over at SmartBear I started wondering if we were trying to force adoption of a tool on a "best fit" basis. I think you can take a couple of reference artefacts of the Scrum development process, say user stories, epics and themes, and the code base which must use a well-known SCM, e.g. SVN, Hg, etc. Then if we take that as the common reference points for the tools employed then we would be able to use a group of tools to handle the different aspects of the Scrum process rather than try forcing a fit of a single tool would is a bit like forcing a square peg into the round hole. In this way, providing you've agreed your common reference points, you can use several tools, each performing their role better than a could be done by a single component in a monolithic tool suite. Is this a more sensible approach? Are the two reference points I mentioned above suitable, or is their a better choice of points where the tools would meet? cheers,

  • .NET WinForms INotifyPropertyChanged updates all bindings when one is changed. Better way?

    In a windows forms application, a property change that triggers INotifyPropertyChanged, will result in the form reading EVERY property from my bound object, not just the property changed. (See example code below) This seems absurdly wasteful since the interface requires the name of the changing property. It is causing a lot of clocking in my app because some of the property getters require calculations to be performed. I'll likely need to implement some sort of logic in my getters to discard the unnecessary reads if there is no better way to do this. Am I missing something? Is there a better way? Don't say to use a different presentation technology please -- I am doing this on Windows Mobile (although the behavior happens on the full framework as well).   • Does anyone here uses PHP-GTK? Is there a better alternative?

    I had made some questions regarding php-gtk(there are only 4 php-gtk tagged questions and 3 are mine) and I end up answering myself because no one answer them. I know is a strange language selection but I was attracted to it because it runs on several OS's and the fact that I can reuse some of my code (also the apps end up looking good and I can make little installers in NSIS that just rocks). Is there a better alternative, that is free(as freedom) and can run on several platforms?

  • What is a better way to convert a simple sinatra app to static html pages?

    A friend of mine asked to create a static website and I found that making such site using Sinatra is a pure joy. I just wrote all my routes like this: get '/index.html' do haml :index end get '/app.css' do sass :app end .... So I was able to use layouts, and haml and sass to put site together quickly. To create the static site I used wget -r -l2 http://localhost:4567 Which did work pretty well, but I imagine there is a better way to create a static site from a Sinatra code?

  • Socket.io - Tutorials? Better docs?

    I've been toying around with nodejs for some of my COMET stuff and stumbled across Socket.io. Unfortunately, the documentation is fairly lacking and there is only one "real" example. Is anyone familiar with some decent tutorials on some of the intricacies of this library? Maybe just some better docs? I'd really like to use it, but I'm probably going to avoid it if I can't figure how to use it properly.

  • jQuery, Animate opacity to 1 then remove the opacity property to make it better looking on IE

    Hi everyone, I tried the jQuery fadeIn animation in all browsers and it work good, but not that much on IE. the Alpha png images are so creepy after appending the CSS opacity, but i have an idea and i don't know how to implement it using jQuery. The idea is to fadeIn the element and when the animation is finished it will automatically remove the opacity property in order to make the picture quality better. How to do that? Note: i'm using Animate and not FadeIn. Thanks

    Maybe it's a little dumb, but i'm just not sure what is better. If i have to check about 30k rows in db for existanse, what i'd do? #1 - one query select id from table1 where name in (smth1,smth2...{till 30k}) #2 - many queries select id from table1 where name=smth1 Though, perfomance is not the goal, i don't want to go down with mysql either ;) Maybe, any other solutions will be more suitable...
