    Does anyone know how to embed a video in a powerpoint presentation in such a way that it can be moved to another computer? Possible solutions I'm considering: Actually embed the video file into the powerpoint file. This would be ideal, but I don't know how to do this. Insert a reference to the video into the presentation. I need this to be a relative path, though, not an absolute path. EDIT: I forgot to mention I'm using powerpoint 2003

  • Why does a hard disk suddenly look to Windows as if it "needs to be formatted"?

    This is more of a theory question, but what are the reason(s) for a disk to suddenly cause Windows to start saying it "needs to be formatted"? It happens to an IDE disk that I have in a cheap external enclosure, and I can usually get most of the data back by using software like recuva. It's now happened to an internal disk I have. I'm not looking for software to fix this (although links would be appreciated), but rather a low-level explanation as to what gets corrupted on the disk.

    After checking out a project from SVN, I am getting the following prompt in eclipse any time I try to change anything in the code: The compilation unit is not in the build path of the project There is no Java build path option when I right click on the project. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot or fix the issue will be greatly appreciated. Note: I tried changing the project file manually but now my project files are being displayed in separate directories inside the trunk.

I want to also use it for the background color of my forum which is in a separate folder (http://lightbulbchoice.com/forum). I currently have it working on both the site and forum but you have to set each separately, i.e., each is setting it's own cookie.     Many companies offer unlimited online backup space for a fixed price (mozy.com, twitter.com/allmydata, onlinestoragesolution.com, etc), but they either use proprietary non-Linux-friendly software and/or have gone out of business and/or don't actually work. Who offers reliable unlimited online backup space for a fixed price that's compatible with rsync, FTP, or other generic/open source file transfer protocols? Or, has anyone written software that lets me treat Mozy's/etc space as though it were regular file space (eg, "mozyfs"?)

  • Mandatory profile on Terminal server fails to load. Userenv.log debug

    Hi, We're having a lot of corrupted profiles lately on our profile share. At the moment I have no clue why, but I decided to switch to one mandatory profile since the users can all use the same and there is no need to have seperate profiles for each user. Here's what I did. I logged into the Terminal server with a new user and configured some stuff (imported certificates and a few files). Then I logged out. Later as admin I copied the profile to another server and renamed it to bsilo. I made sure the user hive settings were adjusted. Everyone had access to the hive. I shared the bsilo folder with full access for everyone. I set the NTFS permissions to read, read & execute, list folder contents for domain users. I also renamed NTUSER.DAT to NTUSER.MAN. Now I set a env variable %manprofile% on the Terminal server that points to \server\bsilo\ntuser.man I set the env var as terminal services profile path for a test user. When I log in I as the user get the following output The system cannot find the path specified. Can somebody point me in the right direction.   • PC monitors shut off and system hangs while playing 3D games, but sound continues - Diagnosis?

    Two days ago, I started running into a problem with my Windows PC: The PC's two connected monitors simultaneously lose signal and go black (as though the PC had been powered off). The keyboard's Numlock, Capslock, and Scroll Lights will become "stuck" in their current positions, as though the PC is hung. (For example, the Numlock light on the keyboard remains lit regardless of me pressing the Numlock key repeatedly.) No keyboard input does anything. (Ctrl+Alt+Del, Ctrl+Shift+Esc, Ctrl+C, etc.) However -- Whatever sound/music the PC was playing continues to play, and the PC's fans continue running, so the PC hasn't powered itself off or rebooted itself. Opening up the case, the graphics card is pretty hot to the touch. I had this happen 3 times in one evening. In all cases, I was playing a game with 3D graphics when the problem occurred (Torchlight, Minecraft, Magic: The Gathering 2012, Avadon: The Black Fortress demo). I have yet to have the problem happen when I'm not playing a game. This system has been running stable for about 2.5 years prior to this. I didn't make any changes to the system prior to the problem starting to occur. System specs: OS: Windows 7 64-bit Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz Video Card: XFX GeForce 9800 GT 512 MB Motherboard: Foxconn P45A-S LGA 775 Intel ATX RAM: Corsair 4 GB (2x 2GB) DDR2-800 (PC2 6400) Full specs: New PC 2008 Troubleshooting tried so far (the problem occurred again after taking each of these steps, one at a time): Updated the video drivers with the latest drivers from NVidia's site. Opened up the case and cleaned out the video card and processor fans (both were pretty dirty). Installed and ran temperature monitor software. The processor idles at about 50 degrees C, and goes up to about 63 degrees C while playing a game (seems on the warm side, but not excessively so?). The software wasn't able to report the temperature of the GPU -- not sure this particular GPU supports software temperature readout? My initial diagnosis is that maybe the GPU is on its last legs (given that it seems to be running pretty hot, and the problem only occurs while playing 3D games). Does this seem likely? Or is it likely that this problem is caused by the processor, RAM, or motherboard? Or could this be a software issue of some kind? Thanks for any advice!

The socket path I got from the JSON config file which also says chmod-socket: 666 so I have a hunch that the problem is permission based.   • configuring slime in emacs

    I am in the process of configuring slime for emacs. So far I have read about basic functionality for common lisp such as C-c C-q which invokes the command slime-close-parens-at-point which places the proper number of parens where your mouse is. Another command that seemed cool was invoked by C-c C-c and it would pass the code you are editing in a buffer to the REPL, and "compile" it. Why won't these commands work for me? Anyway, I have downloaded slime via M-x list-packages and do not seem to have this functionality (C-h w and then any of these commands tells me that these commands do note exist). So, I saw a bunch of other slime extensions such as slime-repl', 'slime-fuzzy' and 'hippie-expand-slime'. So I again usedM-x list-packages` and downloaded them. Still I did not have these commands.   • Cisco ASA SSL VPN options?

    Disclaimer: I am not a network admin so I may be wrong here but I thought asking here would help. I'm a developer mainly on the .net framework as well as helping get a mobile intranet app working. Because this app is only allowed to be used on our network I can easily run this app on our wireless network connection within our building. All is fine and dandy but we'd also like to be able to run this mobile app at say a customer plant using VPN software. I thought surely this could be easy as we exclusively use Samsung s4 phones so I thought I'd download Cisco's Samsung any connect software to allow us to VPN...its right on the play store. Sure enough it doesn't work. I mention it to our network admin who says not possible since we have old technology that doesn't support SSL. He mentions we'd have to upgrade all of our hardware, the firewall, etc. to get this to work. We really need VPN on our phones not only for this app but other internal apps, etc. He did mention the following: We can’t upgrade the software on our ASA, because we don’t have enough memory for the new version.  (the asa is very old).  We can’t add more memory, so we would have to get a new firewall, which I have been told I cannot do. In addition he also mentioned: The Samsung AnyConnect client uses SSL to connect.  With the current (old) version of software that our firewall is running, the SSL connections are unreliable.  We need different hardware in order to upgrade our firewall, which we are unable to attain at this time.  This is the same reason that Windows 8 clients are not able to connect. I am curious hence me asking. vpns seem to be fairly simple to setup. What other options do I have aside from making this a public site or web service that consumes this data over the internet as this is a complete no no. What can we do to make this work without that much effort or cost.
