    I have got a table which contains 5 column and query requirements: update row no 8 (or id=8) set its column 2, column 3's value from id 9th column 2, column 3 value. means all value of column 2, 3 should be shifted to column 2, 3 of upper row (start from row no 8) and value of last row's 2, 3 will be null For example, with just 3 rows, the first row is untouched, the second to N-1th rows are shifted once, and the Nth row has nulls. id math science sst hindi english 1 11 12 13 14 15 2 21 22 23 24 25 3 31 32 33 34 35 The result of query of id=2 should be: id math science sst hindi english 1 11 12 13 14 15 2 31 32 23 24 25 //value of 3rd row (col 2,3) shifted to row 2 3 null null 33 34 35 This process should run for all rows whose id 2 Please help me to create this update query I am using MS sqlserver 2005

  • What encoding to use for exporting to CSV?

    I'm developing a java app that exports data to CSV files, intended to be opened in Excel by end users. We just noticed that the export function uses Java's platform default encoding. This causes umlaut characters to be lost and unit test to fail on the build server (which is configured to have US-ASCII as its platform default encoding exactly to catch such potential problems). The question is: which would be the best encoding to use? How does Excel determine what encoding to use? Does it use something platform-specific that presumably matches Java's platform default? I'm currently leaning towards hardcoding Cp1252 - that should cover the target machines (the deployment environment is actually specified) and would fix the test problem. From googling around, Excel does not seem to handle UTF-8 well, so that's out, and sticking to the platform default encoding would require some sort of workaround hack for the tests.

    I have a semi xml formatted file that contains line with the following format: <param name="Distance" value="1000Km" /> The first char in the string is usually a TAB or spaces. I've been using the following to try to parse the two strings out (from name and value): if(sscanf(lineread, "\t<param name=\"%s\" value=\"%s\" />", name, value) == 1) { //do something } name and value are char* Now, the result is always the same: name gets parse (I need to remove the quotes) and name is always empty.     I am working on a loan amortization schedule using Access, I have created the following tables: tblMembers - autoMemberID|txtLN|txtFN|etc tblLoans - autoLoanID|numMemberID|etc tblSchedules -autoScheduleID|numLoanID|numPayment#|datDue|dblBegin|...|dblEnd tblPayments - autoPaymID|numLoanID|curAmtPaid|datPaidDate and forms: frmLoans - autoLoanID|etc sbfSchedules - numPaymID|datDue|dblBegin|...|dblEnd sbfPayments - dblAmount|datPaid I have been able to generate the schedule (using DAO recordset) clicking a btnRepaymentSchedule the challenge is when I click a btnAddPayment still on the sbfSchedules, I want the value of the dblEnd field to be the value of the next record dblBegin field! I have tried using dlookup(txtBeginBalance = Dlookup("EndBalance", _ "Schedules","[ScheduleID] = Form![Schedules]![ScheduleID]-1) but there is no effect but if I use txtBeginBalance = txtEndBalance the value of txtEndBalance is assigned to the value of txtBeginBalance of the same record (want next record). Secondly, how can I set focus to the next record if a contro(txtAmountPaid) is not null on clicking the btnAddPayment or assigning the value of a calculation when the control is 0 or null ? Thanks

If $value = 3, that means that 600851475143 / 3 should be an integer, but its not. So I do not understand why that if() evaluates to true?

    If i pass a char * into a function. I want to then take that char * convert it to a std::string and once I get my result convert it back to char * from a std::string to show the result. I don't know how to do this for conversion ( I am not talking const char * but just char *) I am not sure how to manipulate the value of the pointer I send in. so steps i need to do take in a char * convert it into a string. take the result of that string and put it back in the form of a char * return the result such that the value should be available outside the function and not get destroyed. If possible can i see how it could be done via reference vs a pointer (whose address I pass in by value however I can still modify the value that pointer is pointing to. so even though the copy of the pointer address in the function gets destroyed i still see the changed value outside. thanks!

    I have two threads, one updating an int and one reading it. This value is a statistic where the order of the read and write is irrelevant. My question is, do I need to synchronize access to this multi-byte value anyway? Or, put another way, can part of the write be complete and get interrupted, and then the read happen. For example, think of value = ox0000FFFF increment value to 0x00010000 Is there a time where the value looks like 0x0001FFFF that I should be worried about? Certainly the larger the type, the more possible something like this is I've always synchronized these types of accesses, but was curious what the community thought.

    I'm trying to ask the user for a value of some variable, but at the same time, showing him the last value used (at the termination of the program, the values are saved to a file, and loaded at the start of the program). Enter new pi value (pi=3.14) : Enter new height value (h=30.0) : Usually I would write the first one with write statement, then read the new one (in Fortran, for example).   • Why is JSON outputting out of order?

    I'm am trying to get a list of weather information for 8 locations. I'm using a weather API that accepts longitude and latitude and spits back json output with the weather info for that location. I feed the coords in order 0-7 but when json processes the data it comes back in a seemingly random order. I assume it's because some process faster than others and json is outputing what it gets back as it gets it.   • asp.net Wizard control strange issue

    Update: There was actually a hidden panel with validator in the user control that was causing page not to be valid on the first postback. Consider this issue resolved. This is first time I am using this control and it is behaving rather strange. I have to click on the "Next" button twice for it to move to the next step. I tried explicitly setting active index, using MoveTo etc. Nothing works. Here is the markup for the control.     Assuming there are 5 inputs in web form <input name='the_same' value='different' /> <input name='the_same' value='different' /> <input name='the_same' value='different' /> <input name='the_same' value='different' /> <input name='the_same' value='different' /> When server side receive the post data, i use a foreach to accept data, say $the_same = new array(); foreach($_REQUEST as $data) $the_same[] = $data; Will the order of data saved in server side be the same to it in web form?

    Hi there, I am looking for an alternative to using an object/variable in global scope -- I would like to associate key/value pairs with specific DOM elements (eg, a DIV), so that I can use them as input for logic that processes other elements (eg, child elements of said DIV). I tried something naive like: $('[foo=bar]').key='value' , and $('[foo=bar]')[key]='value', but it puked. Doing something like: var foobar = $('[foo=bar]'); foobar.key = 'value' -- works, but the new property/value only affects the new object (ie, foobar, not $('[foo=bar]')) Most likely there's something terribly basic I am overlooking. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

  • PHP: How to overwrite values in one array with values from another

    I have an array with default settings, and one array with user-specified settings. I want to merge these two arrays so that the default settings gets overwritten with the user-specified ones. I have tried to use array_merge, which does the overwriting like I want, but it also adds new settings if the user has specified settings that doesn't exist in the default ones. Is there a better function I can use for this than array_merge? Or is there a function I can use to filter the user-specified array so that it only contains keys that also exist in the default settings array? (PHP version 5.3.0)

A Few Q's: using: var foo = new Foo() { Bar = new Bar() { Value = "Value" } }; var value = DataBinder.Eval(foo, "Bar.Value"); Or: This one It is possible to retrieve an internal nested property using property path syntax. Is there a way to set/trigger a nested property (a regular property not DependencyProperty) easily with some kind of simple mechanisms as described here? I want to acheive something like: string newValue = "Hello World!"; DataBinder.EvalSet(foo, "Bar.Value", NewValue); Is there any mechanism that support both property path (for nested objects) and XPATHs (if the objects are XPATH navigable of course) ? again, that supports get and set options.
